A pretty solid sandwich shop and I really like the bread there. Most of the sandwiches are pretty standard fare, nothing I’d go out of my way for but better than fast food. The only extras they offer consist of onions, lettuce and tomato. They have a few signature subs and pizza but again, nothing to write home about. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fresh, good quality ingredients… they’re just very average ingredients. It wouldn’t hurt to offer arugula or something a little more interesting. They have some Alaskan themed sandwiches like the Reindeer sausage but that’s only an exotic novelty to tourists. They could also be a bit more generous with the meats and cheeses, the bread to ingredient ratio is a little one sided. It’s a good spot if you’re on your lunch break and just want a quick bite but otherwise there are better places to eat downtown.

Been one of my fav Anchor-town sub shops for a while. Nice place to mix-it-up if you ever get tired of the same ol’ Subway and/or Quiznos cuisine IMHO. Located in the same building as Dark Horse Coffee, on the corner of 7th and F St, it is convenient for the downtown business crowd and/or anyone in the area looking for a quick bite. The space is a bit small, so you can expect it to feel a bit crowded after 8+ people begin to occupy it. Seems like whenever I’ve been through there it’s always been fairly busy. The staff is nice enough; never been overly nice, nor have they been overly distant in my experience. They’re efficient in churning out the subs even when it gets busy. I’ve never had to wait longer than probably 6 – 8 minutes after my order has been placed. I like their Gyros, bout what you’d expect to get at the price point. Their Reindeer Steak, Asian Beef, and Fajita Steak subs are go-tos as well. Menu located: Normally though if I’m just stopping through for lunch at work, I’ll get their daily special. 6 incher + cup of the daily soup and soda, hard to beat that. Today when I went through(Monday) it was their Club Sub + Italian Sausage soup(or Chicken Broccoli Cream). Topped it off with everyone’s the carbonated, brominated vegetable oil and yellow 5 favorite, Mr. Mt. Dew. Still have quite a bit of their menu to work through(haven’t gotten around to their pizzas yet), so I’ll def be back.

Fantastic sandwich and good prices. A little cramped in the seating area but it’s all good. Recommended if you’re downtown.

This a great place to go. People were nice, food was very good and the price is right. I recommend anyone downtown needs to go. They have more than just subs. It is the typical mom & pop place to eat.

I came here around noon on a monday. I seemingly got lucky on timing because there was quite a line behind me. I placed my order at the counter to go and sat down to wait. I waited for probably less than 5 minutes before my name was called. I can’t speak for how long of a wait the person at the end of the line would’ve had, but mine wasn’t so bad. I ordered a 12′ italian sub and a small cup of the chicken cream broccoli soup. The sub was tasty, but I felt for the size and price it really needed more meat to it. My soup was really good I enjoyed it very much. Despite the food being tasty I’m not sure that id come here that often. I do feel as though for a sub and a small cup of soup it was really pricey. All in all I paid 17 bucks for my meal and that isn’t even with a drink. But honestly for most people a 6′ should fill you up and it’ll save you a few bucks, I’ll get a 6′ next time. Also I was a little surprised with the place itself. I was expecting something a little more upscale, but it’s small and not super fancy. I suppose it doesn’t need to be though, it is a sandwich place. I don’t have anything positive or negative to say about the staff, my interactions with them were very short and to the point. Overall this is a good place to go to if you’re in the area and wanting something quick. It was tasty, but also a little pricey. I’d also order extra meat next time.

Because of its convenience and good service, I’m sure I’ll keep giving this place tries in the future, but I’ve had mixed experiences every time. The Gyro was standard and extremely salty, the Veggie sub was great, but loaded with balsamic vinegar that drowned out everything else with its bitterness. Tomato bisque soup was sweet and didn’t have any spices in it… I would rather wait in line at Brown Bag, knowing I’d get a higher quality sandwich and ambiance for my money.

Alaska Gourmet Subs has delivered delicious sandwiches every time. I’ve tried the Italian and seafood melt. The seafood melt is the more popular one. The service has always been extremely friendly and warming to me. The worker always gives me recommendations. They definitely put love into their sandwiches.

So the food here is really really good, a bit over priced for the small portions but that’s pretty common in downtown. The staff is not friendly, at least not that day, and the place is super tiny and pretty crappy. It has the feel like eating in an old subway station and they have very limited hours. They are pretty good, but they are better if you are eating to go. I won’t go back, there are way better places for the price with better ambiance. The look and feel of the website is nothing like the actual place

We have ordered a group of subs and pizzas a couple of times now at my shop — the entire staff has been really happy with the food, especially the pizzas. I always have the seafood melt, so my experience is limited, but I really do enjoy it. Delivery is prompt, I don’t remember ever waiting long or having a wrong order.

I got a 6″ seafood melt on while wheat for $ 8 and was satisfied. great flavors going on. the fling was premade so it took them less then two minutes to get me my sandwich. so fast! I thought the bread was really good — it was crunchy and I did not find it overwhelming like others have said in their reviews. All in all I would definitely go back if I was short on time and looking for a solid sandwich

Bar none, the worst sandwich I have ever had. All bread, no meat, dry and tasteless. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

I don’t get the devotion to Alaska’s Gourmet Subs. I’ve been in several times and was underwhelmed each time. Outside, it looks especially appealing on cold, dark days, but once I receive my food, not so much. For the prices, my sandwiches had too much bread and not enough between the bread. I can sit at home and stuff my face with bread to achieve Alaska fat status. I don’t need to go out and drop a pretty penny for it. I don’t want fake seafood of *any* kind on my plate. The seafood sandwich was swimming in mayo; more mayo than seafood, yet it was one of, if not the, most expensive sandwiches on the menu. The soup was soup; nothing memorable. I don’t want the little bag of unhealthy chips. I want something better and more appealing for those prices.

The creamy potato soup tastes like lard. The first two bites are tasty then the fat becomes overwhelming. There is absolutely nothing Italian about the Italian sandwich! The bread is great, even though I asked for wheat I got white. It was served with a mere two slices of what looked like pastrami. The only gourmet thing about this sandwich was the tasty aioli sauce. I’m so disappointed!

The number one best sub place in Anchorage, if not Alaska, as their name depicts. I had the Asian beef with a cup of clam chowder. The beef was sweet and spicy as well as tender. The bread is probably one of the best parts of the sub, it’s crunchy as you bite into and soft in the inside. The clam chowder is thicker than conventional clam chowders and more tan than the off-white of other clam chowders. Overall, the experience was unique, maybe close to what you can get in bigger cities? I don’t know, you be the judge.

I had the Chicken Salad sub and it was EPIC. Served warm on toast, its a very non-traditional mix. I have no idea what’s in the chicken salad but it is amazing.

Their 3 Vegetarian Sub options are very good and the fresh baked bread never disappoints. That being said, they consistently fail on 2 efforts: No onions are always requested and somehow they still end up in the sandwich. Additionally the avocados are of poor quality and sometimes even 100% brown. Fortunately these failures can be easily corrected and hopefully the owner and staff are listening.

I got the 12 inch Wild Alaskan Salmon sandwich on Greek Herb bread($ 14). For some reason, I was expecting a piece of salmon, but it’s ground salmon. It comes with a homemade roasted garlic sauce and provolone cheese. I thought the sandwich still tasted kind of dry. Not a bad sandwich by any means, but I was a little disappointed.

First time here. I had the Wild Alaskan Salmon sandwich. I would suggest the 6 inch sandwich. I was impressed. Everything is A la Carte. This sandwich shop closes daily at 3:30pm and is closed on Sundays. Parking is hard to come by at this establishment. You will have find a parking spot and deposit a few quarters. If you plan to eat here, plan to park, pay and walk a short distance.

The skinny raven and pepper club subs are great. The skiiny raven is my first choice. AK Gourmet Subs gets their bread at a local spots. The pepper clubs reminds me of a pizza in a sandwich. Its great for subs, soups, and Wifi.

Cool little place, very unassuming and pretty small. You can easily take the sandwiches to go, and they’re pretty fast about it. Not exactly cheap though, half a sandwich was like $ 7, and the full thing is something like $ 15 – 16; then again, I realized shortly that food in Alaska is kinda expensive all around… I picked up half a reindeer sausage sandwich and another half of grilled salmon. Both actually really delicious! Comes out on this bread that’s toasted a little to give it some crunch, but still be soft inside. A lot of bread unfortunately, but the sauces give it a pretty good kick. Wouldn’t come back often, but definitely would drop by if I wanted a quick and tasty sandwich and wasn’t broke!
