The coffee is fine, it has a nice atmosphere but don’t go in if you are in a hurry. Extremely convenient location, however, the wait times are extremely long. I went in for a bagel, I was the only customer and was asked to wait while the barista did the dishes.

If you like good coffee for a good price then this is your place – the coffee is delicious. I only ordered the coffee, none of the fancy stuff for me, so I can’t speak for anything else on the menu. The customer service is pleasant, helpful and friendly. The place has a small local vibe. Plus they have outlets :}. I’d recommend it for the coffee.

Solid pick when you want a healthy breakfast and coffee or tea. The atmosphere is cozy and the amount of time it takes to receive your order is unpredictable. The wait staff are friendly but they are all working too hard/fast to really engage. Overall, refreshing café with nice options for those looking to grab a healthy, filling bite(matcha, chia seed, avocado toast, yogurt parfait) in Anchorage.

Really good coffee and food. I really like that they have milk alternatives and healthy breakfast options. The coffee is well done — not burnt or overdrawn.

An A-OK Anchorage coffee depot. Pretty standard caffeine offerings, with a small food menu as well. I wish Unilocal would allow for ½ star ratings, as I’m more towards a 3.5 star on this one. This place is located within walking distance of many business buildings and other establishments in downtown Anchorage(corner of 7th and F), so they receive a decent amount of business throughout the day, so it’s safe to assume a bit of a wait so be prepared just in case. So the service can be hit or miss depending on amount of people are there, and the staffs own intake of caffeine :-P Generally they’ve all been nice in my experience, and work hard to try and keep pumping out orders in the limited space they have to work with. The building they’re located in is pretty cozy, so if it gets busy expect a lil bit of a claustrophobic vibe; or if you’re a people person, good time to work on your socializing skills. If/when there’s a line, it begins to the right of the cashier, and runs towards the wall with the food menu; just in case you think you can stand around where ever. I can’t speak for the quality of the fancier coffee(latte/mocha on up), as I usually just go for drip. You can bring your own cup for drip, or purchase on there, for the normal price and then come back periodically throughout the day and refill for 50¢ which is nice. One of my favorite non-coffee-drink-related menu items would be the Redbull smoothies, when I need to satiate my sweet tooth whilst giving my adenosine receptors a swift kick in the pants. You grab a can of whichever Redbull they have on hand, and then they have a menu of around 8 flavors, I usually just go with the Mango. The Alison Eggwich breakfast item is recommended. Scrambled egg with either ham or turkey(I usually go with the ham) and some cream cheese. Then you can get it on either a bagel or bread. I go for the Jalapeño bagels. Then they toast it up :-) So, nice coffee shop to stop by if you’re in the area and need a boost. Haiku — by me A lethargic mind Mental caffeine injection wake my a$$ up right

They are always busy and the service is not good. I guess it’d be decent if you aren’t in a hurry. They begin other orders before finishing mine resulting in my coffee and acai bowl to take over 20 minutes.

Be prepared to wait 20 minutes for an incorrectly made drink. The coffee is okay, but you could walk somewhere else for better coffee in the same amount of time.

I like Dark Horse because it’s independent and local. Since I’ve been going here a lot because my work is close by, I’ve learned there are a few areas for improvement. For example, I always go for drip coffee, because it’s extremely fresh and quick and from my favorite roaster in Juneau. Unfortunately, whenever I go for something more complex and to-go, I’ve had to wait 10+ minutes because it’s a popular place, and they only have one person making the espresso drinks. In all, I would suggest going in knowing that it’s better to experience as a sit-down place. They have affordable lunches too. The ladies that run DH are dedicated and care about their work, they also remember you as well, which is why I keep going back.

Chai tea latte was heaven in a cup! Best ever! Cute little coffee shop and very convenient for conference attendees at the Dena’ina Convention Center.

Love this little local coffee shop. It’s across the street from the Danai’ina convention center. We slammed them at our morning break, they turned out cup after cup of yummy drinks quickly and with a friendly word to each customer. Stopped I there for breakfast the next morning at 6:30am and they were just the same.

The macchiato espresso is delicious! Great atmosphere and is non-stop busy: usually a sign that their coffee is good. An overcast day with light rain makes this the perfect pick-me-up. I did not sample any of the pastries or food but it does appear to be very good. Will have to make this stop at least one more time.

Their chai tea latte is the best I’ve ever had. I got it with almond milk, and I can’t think of a single thing they can do to make it better. It had the right amount of froth, spice, and sweetness. Definitely not your typical watered down chai. Heaven in a hot cup on a cold Alaskan morning. Be aware it is very sweet though, which is how I like it but not for everyone. We went on a Tuesday morning during the whole Obama conference, which might have thrown a wrench into things because the wait was ridiculously long. Going for lunch was pretty quick though.

Seems like a local hangouts. I ordered a medium mocha and didn’t find it anything special. Coffee was a bit bitter and overpowered by its burned coffee beans. After like a third or fourth sip it tasted watery.

Came here for a bite and WiFi. Wasn’t too impressed by the décor /ambiance of the area(the music was actually quite random and distracting) nor was I impressed with what I ordered. I had the acai bowl(mostly because I can’t ever say no to a bowl of acai!) and was quite disappointed. The acai probably would’ve tasted better as a smoothie /with a straw(it was so watered down!). The granola was good with the acai, but there wasn’t enough. I ended up tossing half or more than half of it because it was very blah and I wasn’t feeling it. I also ordered a zucchini muffin(thank god!) and scarfed that down immediately(I was hungry, it was 3 pm and I hadn’t had anything since 8 am!)

What a neat place… I breezed in — in a hurry and had to slow down because they had tea that required thought. I settled on the cucumber mojito — a green tea… It was brewed strong(from loose tea) enough to add hot water to and last me til lunch. I also had the spinach feta quiche. Yummy!

Fantastic little shop, very friendly staff and great service. Everything I have tried has been enjoyable and well made. The«works» oatmeal and a mug of your favorite is perfect for warming up on a cold Anchorage morning.

I got the acai bowl and my bf got the breakfast sandwich. We played mancala all through our meal and our espressos were smooth. We will return when we are in the area. (The acai bowl lacked any actual flavor but it was ok with the granola)

Great little coffee shop in the heart of downtown. I chose tea after a plane ride accompanied by too much coffee. Chocolate mint tea was my choice, served with steam milk; yum! The WIFI doesn’t even require a password(Yay; cause i have the bad luck of always needing assistance to get the password right) and there are computers available too . The music from the radio is awesome.(probably Sirrus) The barista is friendly and appears very capable and confident. This is the perfect place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Nice enough place(3rd visit in a week and always a stop when I’m up here weekly). Being the only game in town downtown at an early hour, it was packed. Call in orders keep them pretty busy, so even with a toasted bagel order & a coffee, the staff was advertising a 20 minute wait. Nice folks, but definitely overwhelmed by the limits of the kitchen.
