Stay away! Horrible service, empty waters, empty Guinness glasses. Did not pour Guinness correctly. Seriously waited15 minutes between beers, and there wasn’t one there. Stay away!!!

I went here for the pub crawl and I definitely want to go back when it’s less busy! The waitress took half of our drink orders and left without getting anyone else. She didn’t really check back in with us. But it seems like a really cool bar and the food smelled really good! If the waitress came back to see if we needed anything else after finally bringing all of our drinks, we probably would have stayed longer. It still gets 5 stars because it just seemed like a great place to be.

Gluten free wings were an awesome start, but it went downhill from there. The ambiance is great til you sit down and the lights, at multiple tables, are glaring in your face. We actually unscrewed the lightbulb. Ahhh, much better. Drinks? Tasty, but the glass is alllllllll ice, with about three sips liquid. Sad. The wings were genuinely tasty. It’d be zero stars if not for that. The Sheppard’s Pie was meh– out of box potatoes and unseasoned beef did not inspire praise. The strawberry salad had a long brown hair in it… I wish I were kidding, but no. The Fireman’s Grinder looks Ah-mazing on the meat but was so soggy the bread disintegrated, and was untoasted. The meat seemed decent, but the spicy peppers, a main feature, didn’t come through at all. Overall, a miss. Service was decent, though at one point a friend almost resorted to texting a waitress he knew to get service.

Ordered a buffalo chicken salad to go with the buffalo sauce on the side and my order was completely wrong when I showed up. Trying to sort it out with the bartender was exhausting. Salad ended up being decent but the process in that place makes it not worth it.

I revisited McGinley’s recently after not having been there in more than a year. In the past I had several bad experiences with drunk waitresses and slow service. This time the service was better but the food was just as I remember it — dry and tasteless. The lettuce on my burger was limp and wilted and the tomatoes were hard and not even remotely ripened. The patty was overcooked, dry, and had no real flavor. This visit just reaffirmed that McGinley’s only redeeming quality is that, on a Friday night, they have more than ample seating. If you are at a nearby bar and can’t find a table for your party, McGinley’s is sure to deliver!

UGH. I really wish that the chef an his minions would leave the recipes alone. Where on GOD ‘s green earth should Shepards pie taste like an enchilada? No where that’s where!!! For the love. Anyway I guess the drinks folks coming back..

Very disappointed in the service we received from the kitchen. We waited over an hour for our food as did other customers not in our party. It was late afternoon after the lunch rush, Alaska Federation of Natives is happening at the convention center. This is prime property in downtown for a restaurant, I do not believe this is the best location for this establishment if they cannot keep up with the constant demand of customers.

I ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage. It was a big hunk of cabbage so the center was cold. I ordered coffee, and after waiting for about 30 min I left. Horrible food. Horrible service.

After reading reading reviews of the past I think this place has improved. I had a meaty satisfying sheppards pie and my husband had bangers and mash. Great buttery, real mashed potatoes, good stuff. Decent beer selection and it was a good clean, atmosphere. Was mid day so not too crowded. I’ll go back again for sure.

Downtown. Across from the convention center. Entrance is on 7th Ave. Back in the day when the location was not a drinking/eating establishment, the entrance was an espresso stand. For downtown during high tourist season, the place was busy but not swamped. That’s good, because we were hungry. We walked in and were seated without a wait. A nice diverse selection of draft brew with a nice selection of local craft brew along with the obligatory Guinness, Harp and Boddingtons. The menu offered a nice selection of pub grub. We had waffle fries, the Fireman’s Grinder, and the brisket, along with clam chowder. Not froufrou, but good solid pub fare. Definitely a place to consider when looking a place to eat downtown.

We wanted the first stop on our bar hopping expedition to be an Irish pub for one reason and one reason only… the Irish Car Bomb. 3, 2, 1, CHUG! …and on to the next watering hole.

Service: Poor Food: Poor/fair It took a good 10 minutes before our table was approached, when we did finally receive service the server threw our menus on the table and just walked away without taking drink orders. The food was hit or miss. The strawberry salad was good, the sheppards pie was super salty and lacking meat. The stew was super smokey and tasted almost scorched. The sandwiches were nothing special and could have easily been pepped up. There was only one server working the entire restaurant, which may explain the poor service but the food wasn’t good enough to ever pull me back.

I will say they’ve come a loooong way since they first opened as far as food goes. Instead of just dressing up regular bar food with Irish names and trying to pass it off as authentic. I ordered the cheddar cheese curd appetizer. It was blah, like blah blah, no flavor at all. The cheese curds at the A&W gas station drive through are way better, and about half the price. Cheese curds should be sharp, have a bite. I can’t say they tasted terrible, because they didn’t taste like anything. I sent back MORE than half the order. I told them I was not pleased, all they said was«well, we sell a lot of them.» Offer was made to remake them, but I said I was pretty sure the next order would taste the same. No offer to replace with a different item. I ordered the reuben and waffle fries as my main dish. YUM! The beef was flavored very well and the kraut was tangy and crunchy. Waffle fries were perfectly done. Sat at the bar, bartender was super-nice as was the server. Only complaint on the service side was you had to wait for folks to finish their texts on personal cell phones before they focused on you.

They were one of the few bars open on christmas. However the kitchen was closed and they let us order pizza and eat it there. Need to clean taps out on the draft beers. My blue moon tasted like puke.

For a pub I was hoping they would have more Irish beers on tap. It was great for us because there was a live Irish band playing while we stopped in, but otherwise the place may seem kinda boring and not where you would go to relax and hang with friends… It has potential, but it’s not there yet. Our service was prompt and very friendly.

This restaurant was alright not great! Fish and chips tasted it was frozen. My daughters order came wrong and she didn’t get her right meal until everyone was half way through her meal so she was going to everyone else’s to ask for notes because she was starving. I had the lamb. It was good I would have Perferred gravy but I would say it was the best thing we ordered. Overall it was good but for the price would probably go somewhere else next time.

McGinley’s is a tired pub in downtown. Service is average and the food is below. I had the fish tacos and clam chowder. The tortillas for the fish were falling apart, which was frustrating. It tasted decent, but didn’t sit well with me. My stomach felt heavy all afternoon. Maybe I’ll try it again another time. Maybe not. I’m not sure.

Came in for lunch and Sat at the bar… had a Denali IPA, Alaskan Bangers and mash(reindeer sausage) and a cup of clam chowder. Bartender was fine, bangers and mash was excellent, IPA was very cold and the chowder was real good. And actually comes in a cup, a coffee cup! They have 16 beers on tap, and a great variety of differant styles. Lunch crowd was scarce, but I bet the dinner crowd would be rowdy. Recommend :-)

Nice pub right in downtown Anchorage. Small, but adequate space between tables/booths. Our waitress was very friendly. Ate here on a Sunday, not crowded at all. I had the Sheppard Pie, it was okay, a little thin, not as hearty as I thought it would be. Service was fast though. There was a live band playing. Nice vibe here. I’ve been to better Irish Pubs and I’ve been to worse ones. This one is okay.
