Been here twice now, and I’m not impressed. The food is average, but for Anchorage, that’s not necessarily a bad review since it’s pretty hard to find good Mexican food here at all. The prices aren’t too bad, yet I don’t feel like it was worth what I paid. The biggest ding is the cleanliness of the restaurant, or lack there of. I Was hit by a pungent odor of ammonia as soon as you open the doors. The floors were sticky and the bathroom was disgusting. The service wasn’t bad though… So they have that going for them.

The food is edible at most What gives this place one star is the extremely bad customer service from the staff. Carne Asada tacos would have been better if they did not add all the junk that was mixed in with the meat, rice was okay, beans were runny and watery. The tables and floors were dirty, The drink fountain and cups did not look clean. I expext all Taco/Burrito Kings in Anchorage are like this. My suggestion is to find another restaurant and let these places fade into obscurity.

I’ve passed this location multiple times. Why did I think it was on the opposite side of the street? Came here for an event and was automatically turned off that the parking lot was itty bitty — and the place wasn’t even filled. So imagine if it was, you’d be parking up and down the side roads for a basic burrito. I ended up getting one of the combos, which actually was a fair amount of food. But they don’t have queso? Did I miss something? Unless they forgot? But how do you forget queso out of all things to forget. The cilantro was pretty fresh, and their steak was cooked well, the salsa though — not so much. Their salsa is served bar style. Tons of bins, tons of terrible looking salsa. Their sour cream had been exposed so long, it had a milk consistency. Gross. All in all. It was just alright. There are certainly other places around Anchorage that are far better.

After eating at Las Margarita’s a few days ago we were reluctant to try Mexican food again in Anchorage but this was close to where we are working so gave it a try. It is real Mexican food.

All I want to know is: What. Is. The. Point? There are so many better Mexican options in town that cost almost the EXACT same price as Burrito King and offer FAR superior everything: Service Ambiance Quality of food Variety of sauces Freshness of ingredients Etc. This place is OK. The quality of the burritos is slightly higher than your average Taco Bell and nowhere near as good as your average Chipotle(please, oh please, come to Anchorage… I will join in with the Alaskan-we-just-got-a-lower-48-chain-fervor if it happens!)…and it costs much more than either of those.(nearly twice as much as Chipotle. I know this is Alaska but, c’mon guys) Everything was just ok. My burrito wasn’t all that fresh. Nothing was all that hot in temperature. Sauces were mild and bland. Pretty much no reason to not go somewhere else instead. Just drive a bit farther north and hit Serrano’s. There are many fans of the«King» chain of eateries in Alaska, so I suppose many folks will be unphased by my words.

Was craving a good«Taco Salad» and saw that Burrito King/Taco King have a «Queen Tostada» that was perfect. Not too big, but ordered the beef version and fully ½ of the tortilla bowl was filled with beef & beans. No overdoing the rabbit food here. Wow! Comes in chicken or beef with lettuce, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and tomato. All for less than $ 8. Only complaint was that the flour tortilla bowl was a tiny bit greasy, but wow what a great tasting meal For a great price.

I enjoy the food buy the service is really hit or miss. Some days can be in and out in ~15 minutes and others 15 – 20 minutes to order and another 15 – 20 to get your food inside for this fast food style Mexican. Drive through though in general plan 20 minutes. The kitchen staff though does seem to try and you see working hard but the breakdown seems in logistics of getting and processing orders efficiently and keeping the dining area clean. I’ve on more than one occasion seen the inebriated community that likes to hang out at the local park also stifling up the restaurant and the operators not take any action to prevent or stop it, instead letting them basically dominate the atmosphere of restaurant, distract the staff, drive away customers. This is unfortunate.

Cons: This would be the ambiance. The place has hard floors, straightforward seating which is acceptable but not — relaxing. Just functional and clean when the waiters have time to wipe down the tables. Pros: Food is tasty and consistently good. The location is convenient to midtown, just off Northbound C street south of 36th. It is close to the Cuddy Park, Loussac Library, and one of the midtown U.S. Post Offices. Speed and Accuracty of service. I especially like the Horchata. They have the basic Mexican dishes that most Gringos are familiar with as well. They will make you toreados(toasted peppers) on request. I have not tried the Drive-Thru, but I’ve phone in my order and gone over to pick it up. I consider myself a regular habitué there, and for a tasty cost effective dinner I’m a fan and I recommend it.

The drive through is not very quick but at least the food is better than Taco Bell. Service is friendly. If you have time, you’d be better off picking up a to-go order from Taco King on Northern Lights, or better yet going to Serrano’s or Xalos. Burrito King is OK but there are much better options.

Two weeks ago I was treated to take-out from Burrito King by one of my Mexican co-workers. You gotta figure if someone from Mexico likes a Mexican fast food joint, it’s gotta be decent. I wasn’t disappointed. So last night, I took my family there because we were starving and in a hurry. I was suprised how huge and bright and cheery Burrito King is inside. It feels like a Mexican Chucky Cheese, LOL! Lots of primary colors and festive music. The place reeked of cleanser, so I guess that’s a good sign. The floors looked freshly mopped, but most of the tables were filthy. At Burrito/Taco King, patrons are SUPPOSED to bus their own tables. Fact is people are pigs and the guys in the kitchen were so busy, finding a clean table was tough. Regardless, we placed our order at the window, paid and pigged out. Several trips to the salsa bar later, and our table looked a mess like all the others. I can see why the dining room was such a disaster. From the dining room, you can watch the assembly line kitchen cranking out orders for delivery non-stop. Those guys work at a break neck pace. And for fast food, it’s way better than Taco Bell. Lots of cilantro, lime, authentic cheeses. And most of the huge platters are in the UNDER10 dollar range, which in Anchorage is a small miracle. And I LOVE that they have Horchata! Good food, fast service, tasty. A winner for sure, but I think in the future I’ll take advantage of the delivery service so I can enjoy my meal without the aroma of mop water and sticky tables. Also, for people unfamiliar with Anchorage, getting to Burrito King can be confusing because it’s accessed most easily from a one way street. There is a new side access street that was just completed, but it’s super-confusing. It’s easiest to loop around and get to Burrito King from«A» Street which is a one way street. (So as a frame of reference for out of towners, this is a solid 4 star fast-food experience by Anchorage standards. But if you’re used to authentic Southern California style Mexican food, you’ll be disappointed, it’s more like a 2 ½ star deal. But by Anchorage standards, it’s decent.)

I love taco king and I have had good luck here. But today they had the«F» team. As in FAIL team working here. Maybe it’s why this place is empty at 6:30pm. Cold food, self service to pick up the one hot plate we got, condiment bar was stripped, no silverware. Waited several minutes after repeatedly asking for a dude of sour cream. Go to the one one in Northern lights and c st. This one was pathetic.

Burrito King is as close as Alaska will ever get to So. Cal. style Mexican. With the fast casual style dining room, to the salsa bar, it brings me back to some great experiences. The portions are decent. The prices are quite higher than what you’d pay for the same thing in California. But it’s Alaska, right?

I like to go here simply for the convenient location. Nice traditional Mexican food… fast. Definitely a nice replacement for fast food for the person on the go. Not 5 stars because the dine-in is loud and the people are hard to understand at times, but they are always friendly. And the drive-thru sure is nice! Great salsa and sauce, homemade chips are delicious though a bit greasy(but doesn’t that make it all-the-better?) Love the quick service and def love the prices. I’m a fan.

I love their soups are outstanding but their tacos and enchiladas just miss the mark. The seasoning is just too bland for me. Frankly Taco Bell makes a better burrito

Cousin of Taco King, this place has the exact same menu but even better service than the Arctic location. Also, I love the nice lady who’s always the cashier. Great place to go all the time.

Good food, filling portions, salsa bar, and good prices. This place gets 4 stars for just being and overall great place to grab a quick meal in a really laid back place. Plus, I’m a sucker for tender tongue. Hours are good too, they are open 7 days a week. They lose 1 star for the blandness of the meats, the meat looks and tastes like it’s been sitting around awhile and lost goodness.

PROS: awesome service, satisfying portions, great value. CONS: missing some meat options(like carnitas… etc.) I personally prefer Burrito King over Taco King. I like the atmosphere and the food taste better. The adobada is super yummy and the gorditas are NOTHING like the ones from Taco Bell(which is a good thing). The buñuelos are also a tasty treat.

My preference for fast Mexican food in Anchorage. The food is flavorful for decent prices. Portions are fairly generous with plenty of cheese. Their salsa and pico de gallo is especially delicious. The interior of the place has an authentic look to it. They have a convenient drive thru when you’re having a Speedy Gonzales kind of day.

If it were possible to give a place no stars, this would be what I would do for Burrito King. Now I know not to expect great mexican or even good mexican in Anchorage, but this place was down right awful. I took my teenage sons there and I could not even eat in this place. My sons thought that it was pretty disgusting as well. That means a lot coming from two teenage boys who will eat almost anything. Save your money and go and eat somewhere else. In fact, go to the grocery store and buy El Paso and open up the can and you will be happier than if you ate here.

Burrito King is the same as Taco King, but with a different name and a drive-through window. The burritos and tacos are relatively expensive for a taqueria, but that’s hard to avoid in Anchorage. The food is not subtle, but it makes good use of fat and salt to end up just as satisfying as cheap Mexican food should be. Overall, the Taco/Burrito King empire is better than most taquerias in places not known for Mexican food, but not competitive with taquerias in places full of Mexicans. Disclaimer: They do not have carnitas or al pastor(the two best taco fillings), but adobada is a passable substitute for the latter. Anyone who enjoys a good sloppy plate of nachos will enjoy the tostaditas(chips covered in beans, cheese, guacamole, and MEAT) even more.
