Still love their food in general, yet. Yesterday, the spouse and I ordered takeout to be delivered. Food came fast, REAL fast. It seems uncommonly plain and bland, it didn’t have the normal complexity to the food. I ordered the king burrito. the next day I mentioned to my wife that I felt like throwing up all night, she admitted that so did she. hmmm…under cooked rushed meat? who knows. I’ll give them a break. but try them again later. they usually have a very consistent product.

I usually eat here for lunch at least once a week and normally get the Tostaditas, which are excellent if you enjoy«super nachos». I have also tried their burritos, special tacos, Mexican tacos, gringo tacos, and Halibut tacos. Everything is excellent quality and freshly made. The staff is always friendly and the service is very fast. There are times my meal is ready before I have a chance to get salsa, pico de gallo, and sour cream from the salsa bar. Of course this could be because I am a regular customer and they know my usual order. I highly recommend them, especially for the price.

Taco King has some real good authentic Mexican food and the size of the portions are very hearty. I always have to take mine partly home. Quick service and real nice staff. Love your food

Ok, ok, I forgive them for that one off off day. I can’t stay away from the food. Yummy horchata. Inexpensive. The Spenard location is the best, in my opinion.

Life tip: the farther up North the worse the Mexican food.

Pretty good you won’t be disappointed if you like Mexican food. Cute restaurant and the food tastes very good not great a little more than average and great hours. The enchiladas could be a little bigger and need some sauce mayo or moisture inside them and the rice could be a little fresher but certainly better than some old dried out food at other places. Good for the family if you need a good meal quickly. You have to get your own glass and serve yourself and get your own silver ware and napkins readily available by the soda fountain machine. The waiter will bring your food to the table. It seems that most of the food is very recently cooked fresh and waiting or the guy behind the counter cooks faster than lighting? Fast food basically reminds me of a food truck only its actually a restaurant. Small seating area so don’t bring 30 people with you.

I’ve been going here since they’ve opened, and the quality of the food has stayed good and consistent after all these years. I always go for the lengua combinacion or gorditas and I am never disappointed. Sometimes the salsa bar can be a little sloppy, but they are fast and friendly. Sometimes that’s all you want in a takeout meal.

Oh wow! One of my favorites! Love their«Special Tacos» with tons of shredded beef, plus they’ve got all the good stuff going like Cotija Cheese, Jalapenos and Limes. Must try the veggie burrito, nachos, enchiladas and the salsa bar with tons of toppings. Fried Ice Cream is also a must try. Speedy service of the staff even though the lines are always long. Everything is fairly priced. If your in Alaska and craving Mexican Food, this is definitely the place to go.

I love, love their«special tacos» with shredded beef. All of their sauces are VERY tasty and we always get a little extra because its delicious. Lol I really like their beans(I think they’re black beans) but im not a huge fan of their rice. My mom had been to Mexico several times and this is her definite go to place. We’ve tried just about everything and loved it. OH! The seafood chimichanga they had a few years ago was amazing. Prices are okay as well, you get a lot of food and the service is quick and friendly. Its set up more like a fast food place, but the décor is great and bright pretty colors. Their horchata is kind of grainy, though, so I just stick to sodas. :)

I just took Pedro’s advice and got Taco King delivered. I ordered a pork King Burrito and the wife got a 3-pack of beef Gringo Tacos. The delivery took about 75 minutes, which for a Friday evening isn’t bad. The food was… good, not great. I mean, definitely two steps above taco bell, but a step behind Serranos. The salsa was good, could have been a heck of a lot spicier. The portion size is great, a lot of food for a small amount of money. Everything was very greasy, especially my wife’s Gringo Tacos. Definitely a good option if you don’t want to drive, or if you can’t legally drive. I imagine based on the level of grease, these would be amazing to eat whilst intoxicated.

«A-OK» about sums it up. Nothing earth shaking here but they are very good tacos. Simple menu. Nothing fancy. Special Tacos are terrific. Beans and rice and other sides are pretty«meh». So, great tacos, mediocre everything else. Hence the 3 stars. Would go again.

Tasty, fast, Mexican food. I recently enjoyed a large bowl of their pazole. It was wonderful and hit the spot. The homemade flour tortillas were wonderful, too! Great place to go for a quick meal.

This place is not good! Very bland and just plain not good. We should have went to Taco Bell. At least they have flavor.

Bland, tasteless and heartless venue. I found myself wanting to drink the salsa for some flavor… and I’m a MAJOR spice WHIMP. It just made me sad and long for the day I can have good Mexican food once again. Will I try it again? Probably, with my tail tucked in and cowering as I fork over way too much for a taco… will deff stick to the chicken as the carne was a let down.

Can’t understand the man on the phone. We ask for no guacamole and we receive extra guacamole. We ask for chips and salsa and receive lots of chips with a half empty SMALL cup of salsa. Plus the order came at an hour and 15 minutes. Oh and the food came in paper plates wrapped with foil. What a mess.

I’ve been listening to Pedro on the radio commercials for a while now. He keeps telling me to try delivery. I’ve never been inside one of these restaurants, but last night, I didn’t want to leave the house and remembered Pedro’s promise of good food and fast delivery. The food was basic Mexican fare, nothing special. Everything arrived still warm, quickly, and efficiently. Lots of condiments were packed along with plastic utensils. If I ever need a South of the border fix again, and I don’t want to leave the house, I will likely be calling Pedro again.

The 40 plus reviews on here for Taco King all ring true. Is the food at Taco King amazing? No. Is it the best in Anchorage? Probably. Is it authentic? Well, the people who run it are Mexican, but is it like what you’d get Me-hee-co? Hell no. This is Anchorage, for goodness sake; the land of the underripe everything. But they have beef tongue, menudo and pozole on their menu, so that has to count for something. They basically have 4 meat choices which are the foundation of all their dishes… everything is just a variation on a theme. What’s great about Taco King? Late night. Cheap! — by Anchorage standards, this is as cheap as it gets. The portions are decent. Service is very speedy. They don’t skimp on the good stuff like Cotija cheese, jalapenos and limes(which most places in town with much higher prices DO skimp on. YAY Taco King.) What’s not so great? Long lines. This place is «muy popular.» It’s also dirty. But again, it’s «muy popular» and prices are low(clearly they keep their prices low my keeping staffing to a minimum.) You have to bus your own table.(But hey, if it means and I’m broke and don’t have money for a tip, there’s no stress there. Maybe that should be a plus…) Taco King is a sure winner. I’d almost like to give them 4 stars, because they are the best in town and it is authentic, but coming from a place with lots of Mexican owned restaurants on the East Coast, I KNOW what great Mexican food is, and Taco King just isn’t it. But it’s cheap and tasty, and in Anchorage that is a RARE combination.
