Honestly the soup smelled weird and I’ve had miso soup before. The salad wasn’t my favorite. I was hoping the sushi would be better. I had a few nigiri and the crunch roll. The sushi guy wouldn’t even hand me the sushi even though I was at the bar; he made the waitress grab it from him to give to me. So not my type of service. The Nigri was warm and the vegetables on top weren’t even freshly cut so they looked old. I ate most of the crunch roll only cause I was hungry. I won’t be going back and I’ve had a lot better.

This place isn’t too bad. The sushi is decent, but not great, and there are definitely better places in town. They have a smaller list of available special rolls, but it has a nice variety of flavors. We had the caterpillar roll, which was good. They have the usual nigiri fare, though the tuna nigiri to me had very little flavor to it, there was too much wasabi on it(especially because it was so bland), and it was cut in a strange way. The salad dressing that was on the basic lettuce most sushi places provide(along with miso soup) was kind of off-tasting. Not like it was old but just strange – maybe too sweet? I still can’t place the flavor. My favorite dish was the black cod miso appetizer. Perfectly cooked, nice and moist and buttery. They have Sapporo on tap, which my husband liked, but the wine choices weren’t that good. Service is fine, a little slow to start, but nothing problematic. Our server was also pleasant, which I appreciate. I doubt I’ll head back there on my own accord, but I would find things I can enjoy if I did return.

We like the food but the service was too slow on too many occasions. My family had high hopes that it was just a fluke and we’d go back. Three visits in 2015 made for three strikes and you’re out. Out last visit… a family of four… we timed the experience. We were seated almost immediately, but twenty minutes passed before any server appeared for anything. Then fifty-five more minutes passed(1 hours and 15 minutes total time) before three of the four dinners arrived. Then it was another 15 minutes before the fourth dinner showed up. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes before everyone had their dinner. This has been our experience three times. It’s hard to call it a fluke at that rate. I believe the kitchen and servers are simply over tasked and under staffed. For my family this time-line really takes the fun out of taking the family out for dinner. We tried three times because the food was good, but we’re done and we’ll be looking elsewhere for our sushi.

Had the Sesame Chicken and the Caterpillar Roll tonight. Both were delicious. I think however, whoever is making their rolls is different because the roll I received tonight was not the same recipe that I am used to getting in the past. While the roll was good. I definitely liked the way it used to be prepared much better.

Delicious food… and wonderful service. They even had some live music, and it really was beautiful. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you!

Just had a fabulous afternoon snack at I Luv Sushi. Heard it was the best Sushi in Anchorage and I can’t disagree. The Sushi Chef was fun, knowledgeable and friendly! Recommend!

Went once and was not overly impressed. Went back to try again. Both times, the service was lack-luster. I kinda felt like the waitresess were distracted and visited with each other more than paid attention to customers. Food was good, but a bit over priced. There are other places in town where I am always made to feel welcome and will continue to go to places like that, instead of a place that just seems ‘too busy’ to treat you well.

Very pleased with my experience here. I’ve been to both locations and have enjoyed their sushi. Sashimi, sushi and rolls are all fresh and delicious. Many of the rolls are like ones found in other restaurants but with a different name. I enjoyed my calamari salad and spicy tuna salmon roll. I tried my friend’s Wow Roll and liked the spicy tuna top paired with avocado, smoked salmon and toasty tempura outside. Be sure to get a cup of their tea! It’s delicious. Large portions stretch your dollar! Moderate prices make it not a total bust to your bank account.

We are traveling in from out of town and stopped by this place. One word food was outstanding! Titanic roll, I Luv Sushi roll, and two orders of Salmon Sushi is what we ordered. The salmon tasted so fresh we thought they just caught it. The rolls were delicious and surprisingly large. We loved it here.

So it’s the closest sushi place to the new home. I’ve been here a few times. Never«wow!» But never«ugh» either. Consistent. Given the price of sushi and sashimi anywhere in town, I’m amazed anyone eats it. Today was rainbow roll and tempura udon. Pretty good. Nothing crazy good. Tempura on the side was a good touch instead of the typically soggy tempura you get in the udon. Rainbow roll was good. You can tell they save the not so good pieces of fish for the roll. But I guess that’s ok. Keeps costs down. Can recommend, just not going to be «wow-ed».

I love this place. Once in a while I venture out and try another(usually because I’m meeting friends on another side of town), but nothing makes me as happy as I luv sushi. Brandon is great and imaginative. The food is fresh and super delicious. The service is friendly too. I really can’t talk to the rolls, because I do not like to eat a lot of rice, but the sashimi is great and always beautifully decorated. I’m amazed at how often other sushi chefs forget to design the plate. Every time I get a plate, I take a moment to appreciate the effort that Brandon and the other chefs put in to the entire plate. One of my last visits, I came with a couple of friends and we shared the I Luv Sushi boat, and it was soo much food. They made each of us up a little to go plate for our lunches the next day. I love this place, and recommend it to everyone.

I will give only one star ONLY because the décor is nice. Me and my husband came because there happened to be a coupon in the northern lights coupon book. The server was nice. The menu does not offer much. I ordered a New York steak medium well, and it arrived rare. My husband got the sesame chicken that was mediocre, and we had the stuffed mushroom and dragon roll. He ordered one beer. The stuffed mushroom was ok, and the roll was just ok. What we didn’t realize is that they add 13 percent gratutuity automatically, so we tipped 8 dollars on top of that mistakenly and it added up to 21.00 tip total for an 80.00 meal. There are much better sushi places to dine such as RONNIE2 or JIMMY’S sushi spot that gives an excellent menu minus the deceitful coupons/groupons. It seems that they hook you in for a nice surprise if you don’t read the fine print carefully. We’re not coming back!

Decided to try this place on a whim. It is nice looking from the outside, and very cute inside as well. Service is slow, and the food is nothing remarkable. I had a california hand roll, a dragon roll, and the accompanying salad. It was all just average tasting and very slow service. When I went in I was ravenously hungry and in desperate need of some quick food! I thought I was going to expire before it arrived. When it did arrive, it was quite dissapointing, butI was just to hungry to not finish it. I won’t be going back. I’ve talked to several friends and they all say the same. There are many better places.

Food was good but took almost an hour for simple dishes. Told it was a off day but not likely to try again at the cost.

The only reason for two stars is the food was actually pretty good and the live music was great. The huge problem was the service. I had bought an $ 80 Groupon a couple months ago for $ 48. My mistake was not reading the fine print. It actually said, «Not valid for „Raw“ menu items.» I was floored when the server pointed this out but I thought we would be ok with 9 of us ordering. We ordered 3 corn dog meals for the small kids at $ 8 a piece, chicken teriyaki for $ 22, sushi and tempura shrimp and veggie combo for $ 26, kids bento box for $ 14, California roll for $ 9, sashimi dinner for $ 40, and a sushi and sashimi combo for $ 40. Total of $ 175. Was this enough to get my $ 32 Groupon discount? Apparently not. The server taking the order said the sushi and tempura combo for $ 26 was ok for the discount. The assistant manager apparently disagreed and came over when delivering the bill to tell me I was $ 11 short of the $ 80 Groupon! Incredible! It took all I could to stay calm and tell her I wanted to see her manager. She disappeared with the bill for about 10 min and said she was finally able to get it ok’d. What irony… The item that I Luv Sushi won’t allow on the Groupon is SUSHI!

This place was very average in everything they have to offer. We came here because of the great Northern Lights Coupon book and thought we would try them out. The layout of the restaurant is okay and it is nice inside. However, dear restaurant. I know you need to get your food inside, however, use a back door maybe? Or before you open. Because I froze my arse off at the sushi bar as you toted in about six carts full of food leaving that front door open when the temperature was 1 degree outside. It made my meal very uncomfortable. The sushi was just okay. I got the sesame chicken which wasn’t bad, but wasn’t so good that I just have to go back. Many more other sushi places in Anchorage that are worth visiting.

I finally got to try this place because they now do delivery! The fish that arrived was fresh and great portion sizes. Very tasty and reasonably priced for what you get.

Their dessert rocks my socks! My bestie and I have been on a hunt for the best sushi in Anchorage. We’ve been here four times now, so I guess I can say we’ve found it. Consistent service, attentive without being overbearing, and even a freebie now and then. Tonight we went for dinner and had some appetizers, two rolls, soup and salad and dessert. I walked away feeling fabulous. Pros: the rolls are nicely presented and easy to eat(not too big or floppy!) Service is on point. Atmosphere is enjoyable, not too quiet– you can have a conversation without feeling like everyone can hear you, and not too loud– you can actually hear the people across the table. We got some free cinnamon tea after our meal and although I’m not a big fan, it was tasty. The menu is diverse without being overwhelming. Cons: The parking lot is very tight, and has been full every time we’ve been in. Since it’s usually winter here… the spots get packed in, you can’t see the lines, and Quiznos(down the way) has several spots marked for their customers only. Be prepared to walk. The salad dressing is too citrus-y for my taste, but that’s a personal preference. It was definitely worth the price(including the $ 10 dessert)
