UPDATE: Notice on all of the reviews of 2 stars or less, there is a «funny» compliment. My review is no exception. Here’s what the compliment said: «You received a compliment from Judy W. 29 minutes ago Hi Yakitor is my favorite restaurant. I think If you doesn’t like the way they do~ Please don ‘t go there any more ! Go to anywhere else. Or the better way cooking by yourself the way you like .» Considering the person is on Unilocal but hasn’t even reviewed her«favorite» restauraunt and the«coincidence» that only the 2 stars or less reviews get the«funny» compliments, I’m going to guess it’s not a customer. I’m also going to guess the«funny» comments are similar to mine. Pathetic. Try addressing the issue. So one star. And don’t worry Judy, NEVER again. I can cook and its a LOT better than what I had there. ================= 2nd review. Last time it was three stars. This time it drops to 2 stars. They likely won’t get a chance to drop to 1 star. Once again, they didn’t have half of the skewers I ordered. A lot of their skewers are flavored with cumin. I don’t mind cumin but real kushiyai or yakitori should be salt or teriyaki style. Not cumin. I ordered skewered wings and it came with some kind of sweet hot thai style sauce. Uh… no. it didn’t have it last time… you dint see sauce in my first review pics. The spider roll was next to inedible due to some funky sauce they put on it. Sushi came unrolled… order the hand rolls, not the traditional rolls. They obviously can’t roll them right. As a pro, the traditional rolls are bigger and have more filling than most places. I was also excited to see they had Chawan Mushi. Flavor was ok, texture was nowhere near the real thing. If you are going to not have the items, don’t list them. On your sheet, list what you are going to have in still 95% of the time and put the rest on a board. Maybe they should get a better review for trying to be different. But try being different towards the good side… not some funky weird flavors that frankly don’t work very well.

Wonderful food and great service! Complimentary salad, miso soup and tempurq cake. Fresh and delicious Alaska Roll. Taskty Neba Udon with a lot of fresh seafood. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Anchorage!

I normally don’t write reviews on Unilocal but this one I need to say something. Everything is perfect! We ordered a sashimi lunch box and a sushi lunch box. The generous pieces of sashimi is so fresh and tasty. My boyfriend is a big fan of tempura. He said it was the best tempura he’d ever had in US. After the meal, the staff gave us a free dessert. It’s an Oreo tempura with cream. It was so special that we hadn’t eaten or even heard about it before. Overall the experience was perfect and We’ll try to come back here for sure if we have the opportunity to visit Anchorage again.

Grilled zucchini, grilled chicken teriyaki, rice balls, grilled bacon wrapped scallops! I don’t really need to say anything else, just YUM! This place is small, but it’s good.

This place rocked! Make sure to get a couple Yakitori skewers and don’t forget a few sushi rolls as well. They provide you with a nice miso soup appetizer and desert as well so keep that in mind when ordering… I was stuffed! Beer was delicious and they also had the basketball game on as well. It is slightly out of the way of downtown Anchorage but well worth the drive/taxi to get there.

By far best sushi I’ve had here in AK. I visit from CA and eat here everytime I’m in AK. The Hawaiian & Crunch rolls are THEBEST! Sushi is fresh and delicious… Service is good, fast and friendly.

I don’t eat sushi, so the hubs gave me his notes. The 3.3 roll is a special they had on their board, with the note«Spicy!» next to it. Being male and full of testosterone, he went for it. Yes it was spicy but also had amazing flavors! The service is great too. I love to sit at the bar and watch the sushi being made. ‘Sushi Vision’. I had the shrimp tempura was crispy, and the sweet potato fries are sweet and savory. A small bottle of Wandering Poet completed the tasty combo.

Get the Yakitori! I ordered the squid yakitori and honestly didn’t know what to expect, but it was delicious! Better than what I expected. As for the other food, there was nothing that stands out. I had a fried rice dish and it was pretty ordinary. I also ordered some sushi rolls and they were rather ordinary as well. Given the price tag on the food and the associated flavor I would likely come here again and order exclusively their yakitori(yum!).

Overall it was a good meal of sushi and yakitori. I enjoyed their saba, hamachi, and unagi very much! I would definitely check this place out — it was much better than a few other sushi places I’ve tried out in Anchorage.

This place is so consistently good that I have no reservations when considering it to be one of the best restaurants in Anchorage. The quality of their sushi, seen in their various offerings for nigiri, sashimi and rolls far surpass that seen elsewhere. If you’re concerned about serving size, you’ve got nothing to worry about; they give just about twice as much fish as is necessary to constitute a serving size. Service is always spot on and accommodating. To sum it all up, this place is about as perfect as a place can get. You know you’re in love when you actually hesitate to continue eating your food because you know you’re closer to being finished. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or a filthy casual, this is the only option to consider.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Very good sashimi. The Yakitori roll is fabulous as well is the sizzling steak and chicken. Best Japanese restaurant my husband and I have been to since coming to AK. Clean and good service. Defiantly will be going back. Best part is the complementary fried Oreos.

So good! I have dreams about their green chile skewers. My boyfriend was ready to lick the plate after his shrimp skewers. The service is great and the food is just top notch.

Alright folks, although this is our first time in anchorage, I gotta say the food here is the best Japanese food I ever had in my life. We went in late like almost 9pm, the host still provided excellent service and big big smile! We ordered at the bar and watch the chef cooked everything, so fresh and pretty lol. I ordered unagi chef’s special rolls, and my friends got white king salmon+fatty tuna+yellow tail+sea urchin+scallop sushi for us to share, these were so good even made the normal salad and soup more delicious. Also we had grilled {beef and beef tongue, mushroom, lamb, asparagus, tofu, and scallops with bacon}. At the end, the host suggested the tempura Oreos for dessert which was my favorite!(even I was too fall and could barely walk myself back to the car). It was the best eating experience in Alaska for us even we didn’t not see the aurora light. So I highly recommend this place for those who like Japanese food. Too good, it was just too good, worth my 20 bucks tips for real.

We weren’t impressed. It’s rare that we write a poor review, but today warranted it. I can handle bad service, that doesn’t really ever bother me, but paying $ 100 for less than mediocre food does bother me. I went here because they had good reviews and a 4.5 star rating. I don’t know what they’re talking about. We entered, sat down, they automatically bring water, I asked for lemons, they didn’t come until halfway through the meal when another waitress asked if we needed anything. Started with some $ 5 edemame, sort of warm with table salt. Shrimp tempura app $ 8 was probably the most tasty thing we had. I asked if they had a cucumber sunomono she said they could make one. It was sub par. The sushi rolls was terrible and fell apart. And the sashimi wasn’t great either. The service could definitely use some improvement. I’d try some place else.

Love this place! I can see why this sushi spot has pretty good ratings! My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner and we got the sushi combo medium, lobster roll, and like 7 different yakitori skewer. This is one of my favorite sushi spots now and I wish we had gone here and discovered this place way before because now we are moving in the end of the month so I’ll definitely miss eating here! The only thing is its a bit pricey, but then again everything in AK is a bit pricier than most places… Spent $ 80 before tip on dinner tonight just my husband and I.

Yakitori is a decent sushi spot. The fish is fresh and the service is kind. I really enjoyed my Hae Dup Bap Zushi bowl. The spicy sauce really made this fish unique! The sashimi salad is my new favorite. Prices here are on the high side but they do have an all day happy hour menu.

Wrote a previous review and still feel the same! Yum, yum and yum! They stil treat you very well when you go and I love trying all their menu items. I like to try other places but the service ends up being lackluster. So when I go back to Yakatori, I quickly realize why I like it there so much. They are always welcoming, warm and it is uper clean in there. The servers rember you and the sushi menus and sauces definately have the chef’s signature. Sometimes I think the prices are a bit high, however, when I am treated so well and the food so good, its a good deal and I leave quite happy. A couple of times I have purchased the salad dressing to take home. So fresh! I especially love the orange they give u at the end of your meal. A nice personal touch and thats why its one of my fav places to go and take visitors.

Good, quality food. Love going here, it’s cozy and sends out that homey feel. The service was amazing. Prices are just right. I love their pork belly, i’d give it 5 stars, their baked salmon roll has changed from the last time we went here. I noticed that the special mayo sauce was missing, not a big deal but consistency counts. The scallop was just okay, cooked right as it was tender and juicy. Also tried out their Thai Iced Tea Bobba, too sweet for my taste and looking for that«thai tea» kick. would still go back, but i suggest stick with their yakitoriS.
