What a wonderful place! It is just a folding table on the sidewalk in front of this gentleman’s house. The coffee and hot water were in dispensers and everything you needed was there. What a beautiful act of kindness.

Delightful way to start the day! The owner is charming and warm hearted, embracing all who come strolling by with a cup of coffee or lemonade.

Such a great idea, and so well done. We had just flown in to Anchorage(for the first time ever) and drove down to the waterfront — and were so pleasantly surprised by this little gem!!!

Oh. Mah. Guh. This is the cutest! I was talking a waterfront area walk on a trip to Anchorage recently and a friend asked if I’d heard about Wishing Well Coffee. Having only been to Anchorage 3x I hadn’t. It wasn’t far from where we were so we walked another few blocks to check it out. It’s a FREE coffee stand run from a lovely neighborhood man who just does it out of enjoying meeting new people and making great conversation. Just wanting to «wish you well» as you start your day. It’s the most precious, thoughtful, cute idea I’ve heard in ages. If you roll through you’re encouraged to leave a note or talk about where you’re visiting from. The owner wasn’t outside at the moment and we were really just stopping to gawk and not get coffee — so no need to holler out or wait. It was just really special and neat to see. Made me love Anchorage(and its people) even more than I already do. Thanks Wishing Well!

Bootlegger’s Cove: how I love thee! This coffee stop is the work of a friendly resident of said neighborhood. Stuff you’ll find here: Free(!) Coffee Fresh Cut flowers Free(!) baked goods A guest book Friendly conversation I have to sadly admit that I haven’t partaken in that last item, not yet at least. But I am working on it. I don’t have the full scoop* on this place(how it was formed, by who, for what purpose), but it’s a helluva way to give back to the neighborhood. Makes me proud to live here! *I hope to fix this soon!

Awesomeness! Thank you for the delicious free coffee and a nice place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Dover also wants to thank you for the doggy treat :-)

This started as a way to thank a group of walkers that picked up trash in our community. With so much community support, it’s inspired daily coffee and tea for the neighborhood at large. Tourists are always welcome. There’s even the occasional baked goods!
