Do yourself a favor and try Famous Hamburger, they make a really good burger! Then they closed so I never got another one

Two — read ‘em TWO extra stars for this place because they have bacon cheeseburgers!!! I was checkin’ out the menu and saw they served bacon and was like ‘What?!’ — I said, psh, I bet you they serve booze too! Foolish me didn’t see the little H with a circle indicating it was Halalizzle!!! I was very happy that I could indulge on such deliciousness. The burger wasn’t that great, there was barely any of the beef bacon and the single kraft cheese slice wasn’t melted. But their fries were pretty tasty and our server Vera was very pleasant.

It’s halal. Tried the place on a groupon. Food here is so-so, unfortunately. They’re never busy — the place is perpetually empty. I wanted it to be underrated and simply not well known, but it’s not that good.

Used to love this place(albeit the Dearborn location) when I lived in Michigan and would actually drive an hour for their halal burgers. Since then, I’ve had the fortune to try some pretty awesome halal burgers at other places around the country(my favorite is Burger 7 in northern Virginia). This place is still solid, but not quite as good as I remember. I ordered my old favorite, the inferno burger(it has jalapeños!), and thought it was 3.5 stars. The main problem was that the patty was a tad overdone. Other than that, the jalapeños hit the spot, the cheese was gooey, the bun soft and tasty, the fixins fresh. The menu has a pretty good selection and their fries are generally good(crispy and fresh). Overall, I would still go back but the burgers aren’t quite as good as I remember.

I have visited this place about 5 times now. The first 2 times I came here(towards when they first opened) I really did not like the food(don’t order the burger with egg btw, gross). But the last 3 times have actually been REALLY good, and we’ve left here pretty satisfied. Who knows if recipes have improved or what, but you can’t go wrong with their cheeseburger. They have reasonable prices and a friendly and accommodating staff. Om nom nom. Ps chocolate milkshake isn’t worth ordering, but fries and fattoush are good.

Had a late evening dinner here using a Groupon two nights ago. Small place tucked in the corner of a strip mall on Plymouth Road. Not much for atmosphere. Very chilly and had to keep jacket on. Menu has quite a few choices and includes Lebanese and American fare. Also serves Halal meat. I ordered the Cheeseburger and onion rings and my wife had the Falafel wrap and Famous fries. My burger was very good with a crispy buttered bun and fresh toppings. I do not think it was as good as Five Guys and it is a little too far for us to drive too to eat on a regular basis. Onion rings were some of the best I have had with a crispy batter and onions that did not slide out on the first bite. The fries were very good but pretty much the same as most of the latest batch of burger and fries joints. My wife thought her Falafel wrap was very tasty but could have used a little more filling for the price. I also had a very good vanilla shake which was served in a tall glass mug. The service was very good but I have to say we the only ones in the place. There are three of these in the Metro Detroit area all originating from a small restaurant in Beirut, Lebanon 30 years ago. Give one a try and see what you think. Would love to go back and try the chicken schwarma and hummus. This is likely to be of those burger joints that is your fave or just one of the bunch.

My husband and I used a Groupon to dine here tonight. We enjoyed our experience. Wait staff was prompt and friendly. I had the mushroom swiss hamburger — delicious. Not greasy at all. Yummy buttered bun(ie — NO grease dripping all over the place). Nice portion size(ie — not enormous). I substituted a garden salad instead of fries. My son loved the hummus. My husband enjoyed the chicken schwarma, and he substituted the fattoush salad instead of fries(I will do that next time!!). They send you home with yummy chewy cookies too. With our $ 20 Groupon, our bill came to $ 3.66. I don’t understand why people gave this place such a low rating.

Large portions of fries, huge burgers, and tall shakes. It was pretty good but made my stomach hurt afterwards.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon because of a groupon purchase. When we first arrived we were the only group there(although there were others there before we left). The staff greeted us warmly and told us to sit anywhere we like. We sat up front so we could catch the football game being shown. The restaurant is very clean(bathrooms too!) and decorated nicely for a basic burger joint. The waiter was very helpful and patient. We ordered two of the wall of fame burgers(deluxe). This 1 pound monster comes with lettuce, red onion, pickle, tomato, catsup and some kind of sauce. Deluxe means you add either a side of fries or a side salad. $ 11.99 each. Burger was ok. Messy and huge for sure. Burger came out well done(maybe a little too well for my taste) which surprised me since it was such a huge piece of meat. Fries were ok(more like a thicker cut steak fry). We asked for water and they gave us huge monstrous glasses of water. While it’s not the best burger I’ve ever eaten in my life, the place was clean, and the staff very attentive.

I’ve been there twice now for their famous burger and I’ve been a bit sick both times. It’s strange because I’m fine with other burger joins in the area and I can usually stomach almost anything. I’m not quite sure why this has been the case here. I haven’t been since December 2010, so perhaps they’ve changed. I’m going to go back and try their middle eastern food something though, hopefully it will be a more a enjoyable experience

We all have those friends. The ones who love to pick bad restaurants. You still go out with them and you try your best to be polite but it seems as if each place is worse than the last. That my friends is how I ended up at *Famous* Hamburger. The service was really good, thats about all I can muster for good points. My burger(The Famous) was overcooked, dried out and on a generic bun. The fried egg on top of one patty was also overcooked/rubbery and yet still managed somehow to be slimy as well. The cheese on top of the other patty was flavorless and unmelted. All the toppings could not save this creation. Put together it was odd, eaten apart it was tasteless. I was at a loss frankly. Fries were meh but edible. I am picky and I should have substitued for onion rings. My bad. My friend raved about her olive burger. It did not look all that impressive to me though. A definite miss in my book.

Given their name, I of course went and had a burger. It made me sad. Long story short, you are probably better off going to one of the other places in the shopping center. If you’re in the area and in the mood for a burger, try going across the street to the great plains burger place instead.

After reading other Unilocalers’ reviews, I felt reassured about my own feelings about Famous Hamburger. I would be lying if I said that reviewing Famous Hamburger were easy, but I’ll try. I had«The Famous» which is a double cheeseburger with an egg and all the fixings. I went with waffle fries. I got it to go but I waited while they prepared the food. The waitresses/cashiers were really really friendly, but I did feel bad for them because they were really earning their wage running around the restaurant. I was pretty happy with my food; it was a gluttonous feast and wow did it feel like it. I thought everything was pretty tasty, though the fries could’ve been slightly less soggy. I’m not usually in the mood for that much or that kind of food, but I’d go back when the mood strikes me. Well, I guess the review was pretty easy. It’s definitely not at the top of my list of go-to restaurants or burger joints, but it was worth a try and I’ll go back.

Famous Hamburgers serves halal hamburgers and middle eastern food at very reasonable prices. Apparently it started as a family business in Lebanon and when the owners moved here they opened a similar business in Detroit. We started with the hummus, which was creamy with just the right amount of garlic and tahini. The pita bread is the standard very thin, soft, pita bread served at most middle eastern restaurants. I got the Swiss Mushroom Burger Deluxe, which came with fries and coleslaw for $ 7. It’s the closest I feel like I’ve had to a «regular» hamburger in a while — not a gourmet burger a la «Sidetrack» but not a McDonald’s burger with fillers either. At 1⁄3rd of a pound, you should probably plan on coming hungry. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. Next time I’d like to try one of the Middle Eastern sandwiches, which are a steal at $ 4 each. You can smoke hookah on the outdoor(heated) patio too, if that’s your thing.

I thought this place would be really good because the name is catchy. i was greatly disappointed on what i had ordered. If you know me i normally base my choice of food on the pictures. Well this burger called Wall of Fame caught my eye. The burger consist of 1 pound of beef weird kind of bread less ketchup mustard, but i didn’t read all of that info so i ordered a double so now its 2 pounds of meat instead of 1. Burger was really dry and hard to get down i felt like crap afterwards. wont go here again.

This is a relatively new restaurant to the complex so I decided to check it out. The service is great and responsive. The restaurant itself is clean and nice. I had the guacamole burger which was reasonably priced. The Deluxe option provides you with a(pasta salad, coleslaw, or potato salad) and fries(or a garden salad instead) for $ 1 – 2 extra. I got the garden salad instead of the fries. I can’t speak toward the salad portion of the menu, but the garden salad was the kind you get at a place that doesn’t really serve salads. The lettuce wasn’t bad, but it was something buy in bulk and serve at picnics. The burger itself was quite good. You can definitely tell they’re fresh and are several notches above McDonald’s, BK, etc. The food though fresh and decent isn’t good enough to make me come back. There is also Hookah available which is interesting.
