Pink Castle Fabrics is perfection. I had been receiving their newsletters for quite a while and finally had the opportunity to stop in while visiting Ann Arbor. The selection is outstanding — traditional, modern, and the best selection of Japanese fabrics I’ve ever seen in one place. I felt like I’d made a new friend with Hayley, the young woman working. She was very knowledgeable and really went out of her way on an item I was so thrilled to find. We chatted about all things quilting and she was great with my two y/o daughter(which I think is the real test of human kindness). Love love PCF, can’t wait to return!

Pink Castle is mainly an online business, but folks lucky enough to live nearby can order online and pick up at the brick-n-mortar, or simply browse the fabrics right there in the store. I thought I’d be able to see the new storefront when I drove by on another errand, but never spotted it, even though I knew it had to be there. If you are out on Stadium and think you can spot it from there, slow down and turn onto Federal. Pink Castle is a bit back from the road, just to the left of Master Tech Appliance Service. It sure doesn’t look like a fabric store from the outside. But inside, they have the same great lines of «modern» fabrics — bright colors and cheerful motifs that appeal to the younger generation of quilters, and a lot of us older ones, too! There are quilt samples hanging up to inspire you, and some quilt patterns and other supplies for making your own treasured textile. Fat quarter bundles — custom blended by the Pink Castle or complete sets of each print in a particular line — make it easy to start your next project. If you need solids, they have every shade of the rainbow. So many cute(that’s «kawaii» in Japanese!) prints you will be itching to find a use for them, even if it’s just to pile them in a basket and pet them admiringly. I asked about sewing classes and lately, they don’t have any. They have converted the classroom area into a showroom for Janome sewing machines, which is also great! Check their hours before you hit the road. They’re open 7 days a week: 2~7 on weekdays and noon to 5 on weekends.
