I have been extremely disappointed going to this place twice now. First time Unilocal said they were open, but they had closed early on a Friday. Now my second trip in two weeks, they had stopped taking names for haircuts by 4:20 on a Saturday. My kids were in tears, we live 30 mins away, and still no haircut. How you run your business does affect your customers. We won’t be returning unfortunately, too many variables on if my kids will get a haircut or not. Parking is also horrible and they don’t even put a sign in front to say they are closing early to their unsuspecting customers.

I have been going to pigtails and crew cuts for years with both my children and have loved it… It seems they have all new ‘stylists’ … Went yesterday and my poor son looks like his hair was butchered, will not be returning!!!

Walked in and waited around for 20 minutes with my 18 month old while all three hairstyles glanced up but did not say hi or acknowledge me at all. Finally another customer said she thought the wait was long. Terrible service. Very disappointed.

My daughter, 3.5, has sensory issues. We went to this salon today and had an amazing experience. Our stylist, LaToyia, was patient and considerate, and helped my daughter so much! She explained each step to my daughter so she could be prepared. She allowed me to cover my daughter’s ears while she used the blow dryer(and worked around my arms and hands to do so.). And my little girl left with a very adorable bob as well. All the staff was courteous and professional. They were very busy this morning, but the wait was not long, and there are lots of toys to keep little ones entertained. We will certainly be back!

Great place for a 1st haircut! Call ahead to get your name on the list. It’s typically a long wait.

LOVEDTHISPLACE! My son can be very difficult when it comes to getting his haircut and his stylist Latoya was fantastic! She would bring him a puzzle, turned up the volume on the t.v., even blew bubbles for him. I will for sure go back and see Ms. Latoya! She did exactly what I wanted and had no problems with my fussy boy. So glad I found this place.(:

We took our three year old son to get his hair cut recently. Let me just preface this review by saying he HATES getting his hair cut to the point we started buzzing his hair at home. He absolutely loves planes and trucks, as all boys seem to, so we thought sitting in a fun chair with an experienced staff would make a difference. It made a BIG difference. He was actually happy, didn’t move, and the lady was using clippers even on part of his hair. His haircut is amazing and they have a treasure chest at the end for him to pick out a prize. Because we checked in on Unilocal we got the $ 4 off. What was really nice is that she only charged us for half a hair cut and because it was their 5th anniversary we ended up with 5 additional stamps for free. They have a small store and we ended up with a super hero cape he wore out if the store. It was such a wonderful experience! Definitely worth a few extra dollars!

My 3 year old son HATES getting his hair cut at $ 20 I thought that was a little much for a haircut but they earned every penny! Andrea put him at ease and the airplane chair was perfect add the lolly pop and treasure chest with prizes and this was the best hair cut he has ever gotten. Andrea gave him the exact haircut I asked for as well. Great experience if I lived in the area I would go back.

This location is so wonderfully accommodating to kids of all ages. The stylists listen to what the parents want for their child’s haircut. We always have a good experience here.

We stopped in Tuesday afternoon and had a great experience. We were nervous with the«first haircut» but Stephanie made it a great. She listened and made recommendations. We took a lot of our pictures and at the end, she took our sons picture and gave it to us to keep along with his hair.(first haircut package). We will be going back and asking for the same stylist. Thanks again.

Yes, it’s $ 17ish for a toddler cut. Since I’d reverted to trying to cut it in his sleep to avoid the squiggles and tantrums, I’d have paid twice that! This place is top quality. Hairdressers are friendly with parents and great with the kids! Plenty of separated waiting spaced with movies playing, toys, etc. The older kids can play video games during their cuts. Mine opted to be a taxi driver. Greatest concept, executed to perfection. The ONLY thing that some people may balk as is the massive amount of merchandise out for kids to beg mommy to buy. Other than that, I can’t think of one bad thing. I even used the restroom. Super clean. I didn’t have an appointment on a BUSY day, waited maybe 20 minutes if that. Can’t rave enough! Tuesdays you get a double punch on your frequent haircut card. Just go! You won’t regret it. Your kids will think they just got to play as a treat!

I love Pam! She is absolutely amazing. I am a hairstylist in DuPont circle but did not have the patience to cut my sons hair when he was 2 so I took him to this salon. The price is good(we charge $ 35 at my salon for a child’s cut). Pam is quick, great with kids and does a 5 star haircut! My sons father took him to a different stylist here once and she did not do as good of a job but when his hair grew back a bit I took him back to Pam and she fixed him right up! Although I think he will sit still for me now(he is now 3 ½) I enjoy taking him up there and having Pam cut it, less stress on me and he enjoys going up there.

As an abstract concept, a kid-centric hair salon seems like an unnecessary, and perhaps a rather silly, extravagance — something that addresses a first world problem if there ever was one. Pre-child, I would have lumped it together with princess-themed birthday parties as «what I would never do if *I* have a child.» What I have learned very quickly in the past few months, though, is that a parent picks and chooses her battles. $ 18 for a simple bit of snipping may sound like a lot, but not having to have another wrestling match with your babe that ends in tears for everyone? Priceless. What I liked about P&C: bright, clean waiting area — there are good quality toys(wooden blocks, train sets, activity cubes), books, kid-friendly videos and cheerfully colored furnitures; playful, cheerful ambiance overall — the little car stations are just darling; friendly stylists — I was impressed by how composed our stylist remained even when our babe began to melt down. What I didn’t care for as much: glitzy hair products, nail polish stations for little girls; overly obvious schemes to milk $$ out of parents. Summary: great for young toddlers, but I’d think twice before setting my foot in there with an impressionable 5 year old girl.

Cute place. Kids love it. After so many bad haircuts we just can’t go anymore. My son is upset but the bottom line is a good haircut not the extras.

WOW! I am so excited that a friend of mine recommended this salon, and really glad we took our boys. After a recent, terrible experience at another salon where I literally had to tell the lady to stop cutting my son’s hair and get someone who knew what they were doing, I was pretty desperate to get his ‘do into shape! I called early in the day to make an appointment, but found out they only take walk-ins, but it’s no problem and they had an area for kids to play while they wait. Due to unexpected MVA circumstances, we showed up at the salon about 15 minutes before closing time… no worries! They waved us right in and got right to work! Latoya had my baby go first, and she was very friendly and welcoming. She spent a few minutes making sure she knew exactly what I wanted and didn’t want for his haircut, and even showed me a book of kids’ cuts so I’d have a better idea of what I wanted. Then she started cutting, checking with me every few minutes to make sure I was happy with it– which I totally was! When the baby got fidgety, she gave him some animal crackers(after asking my permission first) and she worked around his movements flawlessly! He was happy as a fat plum in that chair… his eyes did get a little itchy from the snippets of hair, but she brushed him off with a clean towel and he was fine. My older son has very thick, straight hair, but he has a mini widow’s peak hairline and the top falls straight forward. It will be fantastic in a few years if he wants to style his own hair and do the whole long-haired«Beiber» look, but that doesn’t work for me now so off it goes. It’s hard to style though and he always ends up with a baby ‘fro, a bowl cut, or dutch-boy bangs and it looks terrible… we’re still growing his«bangs» out from when the lady at HC butchered them a month ago. The stylist(I can’t remember her name right now, but she has a short dark brown bob and is energetic and friendly!) went over my preferences before cutting anything, and made a few suggestions that might work for his hair. Then she started cutting– I am SO happy with his little hair cut! It took her less than 10 minutes to get it done perfectly, and she was very patient with him too! She even styled it «messy» with some product, which he loved! Latoya spiked the front of the baby’s hair too, so we walked out with happy, handsome boys, lollipops in hand(we forgot to grab our«treasures,» oh well!) and VERY satisfied customers. We will be back and will recommend it to everyone we meet with small children(or big kids too– they have regular chairs and do older kids’ and adults haircuts as well!) We’ll be back! It’s something worth budgeting for, to be this satisfied and happy with the service and results.

I’m usually sastified with the haircuts my son received here so I took my daughter and the first time Pam did a great job. Went back yesterday and had a new stylist cutting her hair(she is 16 months) so just wanted it trimmed as it is growing longer. Well ended up with my little girl looking like a boy now. There were too many layers cut into her hair unevenly. I called and they were willing to fix it but only so much that can be done when it is cut too short! So stick with Pam and you will get a decent haircut for the money. Trying to fix it was greatly appreciated but I feel I shouldn’t have had to pay for a haircut I didn’t like.

I am not completely sold on this place but they did good. We took our daughter for her first haircut and she was not happy about it. We made it through it. I feel like they did not trim as much as I wanted but hey maybe she just was not able to. I thought the stylist was very nice and did her best. The receptionist gets 4 stars, she could make my upset baby smile. I wish they were more up to date and took reservations and had the ability to keep customer records as I did not receive a punch card :( Anyhow, I went on a Sunday and they get bonus points for being able to estimate when my daughter would get her haircut so we were able to step away for lunch in the interim.

Pricey but my son loves it so it’s a go! We tried going other places but the kid friendliness is why you come here. Gus loves it. The waiting area has a train set for the kids to play and Gus always loves it(he’s 2 years old). There are options too when you step in, big chairs for hair cuts and then the kiddie chairs(planes, etc in front of the cartoons and every station has lolly pops and animal crackers). The stylists are great and know exactly what to do with your toddler when they are screaming their heads off and know to work fast when they are cooperating. You usually walk in, sign in and wait. Sunday mornings are usually bad and during the week there are all sorts of incentives. It can be pricey but you are paying for the whole experience. They also have a treasure chest for when the kids are done where they can pick out one treasure. My son loves this part. If you have problems with your kiddo and hair cuts — try this out. They also sell all sorts of fun stuff for kids from rain coats to super hero capes, and specialty items. They seem to do birthday parties and really cater to the kids and parents(they also big kid haircuts).

****3.5 stars**** This place is gimmicky, and I mean that in the best way possible. Chickadee had been getting her hair trimmed at a regular salon, but I thought that we’d give this place a try since it was geared toward kids. The salon has 3 main areas: three«chairs»(airplane, fire truck, and police car) for little kids, two chairs for older kids and grown-ups, and a party room. The salon does not take appointments, and there are usually 2 or 3 stylists on duty at a given time. Should you have to wait with your little one(s), there is a full Thomas the Tank Engine train table set-up. If you’re lucky, you may be able to pick up the free Wi-Fi from the Panera nearby. For kids who don’t enjoy the haircut experience, they are distracted by a child-friendly t.v. show, bubbles, and little magnetic toys. The stylist will even offer your kiddo animal cookies or a lollipop to make the experience more palatable if need be. When your tots are sporting their new ‘dos, they can select a toy from the pirate’s chest. Thankfully, Chickadee has always been a laid-back kid and doesn’t need to be bribed(yet!). The salon also has several displays of clothes, toys, and hair accessories. Guess that fits with the«captive audience» theme. The skinny: –regular haircut: $ 18 –first haircut package $ 24(includes a photo) –adult haircuts available too –changing table in the bathroom /it’s always been very clean! –complimentary coffee and tea for grown-ups –kids’ parties available(I saw princess and pirate costumes; don’t think we’ll be doing this, but it’s not a bad business idea) –punch card /after 10 haircuts, receive 50% off on next haircut –special events scheduled each month /face-painting, Locks of Love, etc. Chickadee and I both prefer one stylist(Ms. Patty), but on two of our visits, she was not available. I was not as happy with those haircuts. Overall, I like this place. It’s probably best suited for kids ages 6 and under.
