Delicious sushi as well as non-sushi options. Restaurant is clean and service is prompt. Specials are creative. I have sat alone at the bar, dined with my husband and ordered plenty of take out(I think we eat from here at least twice a month), and I have never been disappointed. I highly suggest the salmon sashimi as well as the green dragon roll. We also always get pepper tuna tartar. The only thing I’ve ever ordered that I didn’t love was the tuna tower.

I spent quite some time looking for a place with great sushi and after reading the reviews I decided to give Koi a try. I wasn’t disappointed. The atmosphere was nice and the sushi was excellent. I have had sushi from many different places, and this sushi tasted fresh and flavorful. Prices are pretty reasonable considering how much sushi is elsewhere. Will definitely be back, highly recommended!

Very friendly staff and reasonably priced food. Koi is probably the best sushi restaurant in the area. Highly recommend the SS Roll :)

I LOVE that Ansonia has grown to include some good places to eat on Main Street. Koi was an excellent choice for take out while in CT when I didn’t feel like eating pizza again. They had several vegetarian choices including a very tasty vegetarian teriyaki and a nice selection of vegetarian rolls including one with peanut and avocado and one with sweet potato. Two other plusses: they offer brown rice and they have tofu! Fast service, easy pick up, very reasonable prices.

Great lunch menu! It has many different things to choose from, including sushi and kitchen entrees. I’m used to seeing limited lunch menus, but Koi’s menu is extensive. My colleagues enjoyed their sushi. I ordered hibachi salmon with white rice and salad. It was filling and delicious. The salad was fresh, and the ginger dressing was the best I have had so far. The restaurant is beautiful. You can definitely take your date to this place.

Best sushi in the area, hands down. Great hot meals as well so it’s a great place for my wife and I because all options are open!

Koi is definitely fancy and pretty, which given Ansonia’s reputation is definitely a departure from the norm. I’ve gone there for late lunch/early dinner a few times and been content enough, especially when I have a coupon in tow from the mail, which helps with the steep-ish prices. I will say that the menu is quite extensive and they have some very exquisite sushi rolls. Their Sweet Valentine roll, featuring heart-shaped sushi in pink soy paper, is so beautiful that I felt bad for eating it, but I’d do it all over again because it was very tasty. They also offer some unusual but good items like mochi ice cream, which I’d eat all the time if I could with no repercussions, as well as their avocado salad that has a wonderful dressing if you like ginger and horseradish. Overall, I’d recommend this as a good place to take a date, or anyone you want to impress… even yourself!

I’ve been going here ever since the place opened and food here is always great. The sushi is very good and the prices aren’t bad either. I’ve tried a couple of their noodle dishes and they can do a good hibachi noodle and pad thai too. The appetizer’s are surprisingly good too. I recommend trying the Asian Chili Wing and Fried Oysters the most. Inside it looks nice and is clean too, love the giant fish tank they have next to the sushi bar.

Koi is super fancy is a not so fancy area, but its right next to a lovely bakery so if I’m in the area and hungry for sushi I have no issues dropping by. The sushi is okay but the cuts are small and the flavors of the koi roll tend to be over whelmed by the selection and use of sauces and fried fish. It’s very much fusion cuisine and perhaps it excels at that, but I crave the flavor of the fish and rice more.

We were in Ansonia for the day and good reviews for this place on Main St.(on Unilocal,of course!). We stopped in for a quick bite — we also need a place to change our clothes after traveling from MD that morning to attend a funeral. We ordered from the extensive lunch menu which included sushi/sashimi, lunch specials and lunch bento boxes. I got the salmon teriyaki bento box. It started with a bowl of miso, which was great on a cold rainy December day. It was warm and comforting, but not the most flavorful miso and it only included two or so cubes of tofu. That was definitely the low point of the meal. The rest was really good. The bento box came with two pan-fried shumai. I’ve only had them steamed before. These were the best shumai I’ve ever had! Was bummed that I only got two. Also came with California rolls, steamed rice and REALLY yummy salmon served on a bed of sauteed veggies(zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, and mushrooms). Also ordered a green tea. My friend, who NEVER simply orders a combination straight from the menu, asked for a beef negimaki and teriyaki shrimp combo in her bento, plus swapped the white rice for shrimp fried rice. The waitress gave no ‘tude and was fine with the substitutions. All in all, a really good meal for ~$ 13/person. And bonus: They had a really nice one-stall ladies room for us to change in! If we’re ever back in Ansonia, we’ll go again!

After reading all the great reviews, my daughter and I decided to give Koi’s a try. I thought it was good, especially for Ansonia, but it’s not great in comparison to the sushi options outside of Ansonia. Everything we ate seemed to have an underlying fishy taste too it, except for the house salad. The house salad was excellent. I did enjoy the candied walnuts they included on it. Even if it’s not incredible, it’s still a solid place and it’s good to have a good sushi option in Ansonia.

I’ve had sushi from most of the big names in the valley, and I must say that this place blows them away. Great prices, super fresh sushi, excellent specialty rolls, great service, very clean restaurant. This place is doing it right. I hope they stick around for a long time.

I love this place. It’s a little local gem. Excellent food, strong drinks, and very good service. My staples are sashimi regular and the salmon teriyaki. Definitely a quality restaurant.

The best compliment I can give Koi is this: all of the best people from Karaku in Seymour moved to Ansonia to the new place, by what appear to be the same owners. This is a fusion restaurant through and through; it’s got a modern décor as well as TVs all over the dining area, usually turned to sports. It’s a great place for lunch, but also nice for dinner as the TVs are usually along the side walls, so you have to turn to watch them. That means no one person watching the game while the second is talking, which is a good thing. The food itself is outstanding. Some of the sauces can be a little sugary, but the portions are great, and the sushi is also very good. Prices are also very good for what you’re getting. There are many fusion places in the Valley as this area, particularly Ansonia and Shelton, get more«trendy», but what separates Koi from the pack is that they simply have the best service of possibly any restaurant in this area. Friendly, accommodating, and with outstanding memories(they learn your order fast if you’re a regular), they turn a good trip into a great one. Literally the only negative I have about Karaku is that the hibachi dishes are subpar. Anyone wanting hibachi will want to go to Shelton to Asian Bistro in Shelton, especially since they have live show tables, whereas Koi doesn’t. I cannot say enough about Koi. I love the food, I love the atmosphere, and I love, LOVE the people.

This is one of those places that made me think«Hmm…this is much better than it should be.» Went here as a group of four around 7:00 on a Friday night… and the place was completely empty. This was a bit worrisome.(7:00 on Friday evening is a perfectly normal time to grab dinner, is it not?) For starters, the service was excellent(maybe because we were the only customers…). Our waitress was very attentive and very patient, which is important when you have two very indecisive women as your customers. Our water glasses(and alcohol glasses) never went unfilled, and empty dishes didn’t linger for long. We started our dinner with a couple of standard appetizers: edamame, a Philly Roll, and Beef Negimaki. The Philly Roll was quite good and assuaged my fears of ordering sashimi(I was originally going to stick with rolls). The edamame was, well, edamame. I’m no expert on Beef Negimaki, but the person who ordered it was raving. For main courses, the BF and I split the Sushi/Sashimi for two, which was really good. The fish was super fresh and served at the perfect temperature. Unlike other places, the rolls served with the boat were actually pretty inspired, instead of boring(i.e. a California roll). As to be expected, there was a huge amount of food, so it was well worth the cost, My sister ordered three different rolls and was ooh-ing and ahh-ing over them. I tried a bite of each and couldn’t agree more. And I normally don’t enjoy rolls. These, however, were made perfectly so you could actually taste each of the ingredients instead of just lumpy, spicy rice. Bravo. My BIL ordered hibachi(he’s not a sushi guy) and was so into his dish, he hardly talked once the food arrived. The portion was gigantic, and he took more than half of it home. Koi is a great addition to the Valley– let’s just hope they don’t end up following in Karaku’s footsteps by going downhill in 6 months.
