First trip there, never knew about it. Yes, it’s hidden, but do worth looking for it. The donuts and fritters were all the very best! Warm and fresh. Definitely worth the detour! :)

Fresh, delicious and affordable! What more could you ask for in your morning treat? Their donuts are hands down the best I’ve ever had. Glad I’ve found them because I don’t believe my life could continue with out them. They’re that good!

These are good doughnuts, definitely better than Krispy Kreme. So come here instead of getting those for sure. It’s a small mom and pop shop where a bunch of friendly old geezers get together and have coffee and doughnuts. I don’t know if it’s the same geezers in there every day or a different crew or what but there’s really no cooler vibe for a doughnut shop so I give them a 4 for the authentic doughnut shop vibe. They don’t have any fancy flavors and one time the giant apple bear claw I got was raw dough inside so I have to give them a 3.5 for the doughnuts. I should have taken it back because I’m sure they would have given me something else. But that was the only bad doughnut I’ve ever had there. They are all good, solid, homemade doughnuts.

Meh I wasn’t all that impressed. I think they must get the bulk of their good reviews from the red velvet donuts, which are good but the rest of the ones we tried were not that good. The maple was«ok» and the chocolate glaze was thin and dry and flaky. The glazed old fashioned tasted strange. A dozen is $ 9.00 maybe kind of higher than other places. I might go back for just the red velvet. Definitely would not buy a whole dozen again!

YESYESYES, low carbs diet my a$#. I had never been here when we were having a huge house remodel, redesign and remove one weekend. Needless to say we couldn’t find our butts with both hands and a road map let alone figure out where the stuff was to cook with. We had roughly a million people(ok I’m exaggerating but not by much) working in the house so we take a trip to Als for breakfast. Now I’m thinking yea doughnuts, whoopee until we pull up and the line is ½ mile long(again a small exaggeration, it was only ¼ mile) and the doughnuts were flying out the door like lottery tickets on a huge jackpot Saturday. When we get to the counter they are extremely efficient, friendly and organized. When we get home it’s like a piranha feeding frenzy. Grab your doughnut and dive for cover before someone takes a chunk out of you. The doughnuts are magnificent or as I call them food from the gods. Will we be back? Yes oh hell yes!

Al’s makes the best donuts in town. Fresh, large donuts, with a wide variety to choose from. The friendly and patient folks behind the counter, are always welcoming and pleasant. Occasionally, they throw in an extra doughnut or two! The store is very clean, the product is consistent. I love their yummy donuts! My Favorite– Buttermilk dipped in chocolate!

i’ve been eating al’s donuts since the 1990’s… they are friendly and always add in a few donut holes when my kids come with me to the shop. i love a plain cake donut with a coffee, but i haven’t meet a donut at al’s that i didn’t like. old fashions are good, raised are good… their maple and chocolate are both tasty — not gritty, not overly sweet. and they’re the only place around that does cruellers. even their croissants are killer.

Hubby picked donuts up for breakfast this morning. What a treat! Their cruellers r to die for. Just the right amt of dough to sugar ratio. Pure heaven! But u gotta get there early bc it’s a mad house early in the morning. It’s l like a well run stock market session in there. Quite impressive. I really wish we haven’t stumbled upon this gem bc now I’m going to want it every w/e, maybe even every morning — yikes goodbye diet! When they run out its not bc they didn’t make enough, it’s bc the whole city of antioch is there to get there share lol! I’d take pictures but I devoured it before I could think abt snapping a pic… next time :)

Best donuts around! I love the look on my daughters face every time we roll in here. They have the classic display cases always packed with fresh donuts. The variety is amazing here and they are always adding more or willing to fill a certain donut for you. The owner is so nice and sweet, she goes out of her way every time I’m in there with my daughter for us and other customers. Best crumb raised donut!

Everyone knows I love Donuts. I might love Krispy Kreme but I love classic donuts. Al’s Donuts are one of the best in the East Bay. The best thing about the Donut Shops are the distinct taste that leave you wanting more rather than the mass produced and sugar loaded chain shops. My favorites are Maple, Chocolate and the amazing Crumb Donut, also try Strawberry filled donut holes and yeah you can thank me later. Lol The nice owner is always there. Usually no line and there are always a few older regulars chatting up a storm. Gives you the real feeling of an old donut shop.
