Last night I had the pleasure of visiting Sal’s with a couple of kids and their mother. The kids like Sal’s because they can each have a slice of their favorite(their mom likes it for the same reason – no argument). I liked it because it’s hard to find pizza outside of the Five Boroughs that would feel at home in Brooklyn or Staten Island. Authentic NY style, not overwhelming, not fancy… not expensive, and very, very good.

Every time I am in Appleton I make a stop here. They always have the basics and a few specialty toppings as well. It is fast, good and a lot. I never leave hungry and I never leave disappointed.

Hands down the best pizza in the Fox Valley. Nick and his family run an absolutely awesome establishment. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There are several different pizza options to choose from, all of which are sensational. A must-visit for Fox Valley residents and visitors alike!

One of my favorite pizza place in Appleton. The price for individual slices is great and the pizza tastes awesome. Quick service and is consistently good. I’ve never had a issue with anything here.

Horrible pizza. Horrible service and the employees are perverts to the drunk girls on the weekends. Overall, dont go here. Its over priced and horrible.

I walked in and walked right back out. Since I’m sober and it’s only 7:30 on a Saturday night and thus not busy, it looked like the pizza had been sitting there for a long time. They had about a dozen pies made and they all looked like plastic. The look pizza sits when it’s been out too long and it’s cold… I didn’t try it but it got 1 star because I couldn’t bring myself to attempt it sober. Might be ok if it’s freshly made, which it wasn’t when I was there. The staff was friendly though and they had sprechers root beer in the bottle which I like.

Amazing pizza! That’s all that needs to be said. Make sure to get some marinara sauce for you garlic roll. I recommend the 4 meat and the spinach and feta.

Strange little pizza by the slice joint. Good selection of pizza and every slice comes with a giant garlic butter roll. The roll was great but the pizza missed the mark. The sauce on the meat slice was so bland it tasted like paste. The cheeseburger pizza was covered in american cheese which does not make a good pizza topping.

In WI from out of town… Ordered a pizza over the phone and paid for it over the phone. An HOUR later they called to tell us we were staying out of the delivery zone(once the driver, who had the pizza in the car, put it into the GPS system). They refunded us but refunded to deliver the pie(it was 2 miles out of their zone). AWFUL customer service.

We stopped for pizza after a night out, as we waited in line, we watched one of the servers sweep the floor and then attempt to seve food immediately thereafter, without washing his hands’. When we called his attention to the issue, he told us that we should buy food Elsewhere!

We went here on a date once, and we didn’t stay longer than 45 seconds. We were looking at the menu for the drinks we could have with the pizza on display and the man behind the counter yelled at us for looking at the menu… because he thought we were going to have something cooked, I guess? He then yelled at a table when their order was ready because they didn’t get up fast enough. We turned around and left after that. Didn’t even get a chance to try the pizza because the server was such a jerk…

As far as the pizza itself goes, it was about on par for a late-night snack. They had a good variety in selections and found myself wanting to try two slices; the mac & cheese and hawaiian. Both were pretty good. They aren’t Ian’s in Madison WI good but still they were ok. While the pizza was decent, the reason for the low rating was the fact that I cannot get over the customer service or lack thereof. I had a similar experience to some of the other raters; the staff was unfriendly to the point they seemed annoyed that they even had customers and just seemed to not want to be there. Their pizza, in my opinion, is just not good enough to endure their level of customer service. Unless that changes, I will not be back.

I thought carefully about what rating to give this place. As a restaurant on its own the rating would probably be lower due to a limited menu. But for what it is it has to be 5 stars. It’s on the strip in downtown Appleton. Its open late for the bar crowd and they serve amazing, giant slices of pizza for a reasonable price. Exactly what you want on a night out. The place can be pretty darn busy but I’ve always admired how friendly the staff is. The menu is light, but a warm slice of pizza(they warm it up for you right before serving) and something to drink is all I ever need. Highly recommend, especially if you are out on the town for the night. This is GOOD pizza!

This is by far the best pizza that I have ever had in my entire life. And I’ve had quite a few pizzas. Ginos Dominos Little cesars Politos Scotty’s Pizza Shuttle Ian’s Toppers Pizza Hut Rocky Rococo others im sure Im missing I miss this pizza. I think about this pizza when I eat other pizzas. My current slice of pizza is looking at me thinking«are you cheating on me?» To this day I have never had a thin crust pizza that tasted so good and went down so well. it was crispy and flavorful. You have to get it during rush hour, otherwise im sure it sits out.

Guys: After living in NYC many years ago, there are two things I miss most: Central Park jogging and Ray’s Pizza. Ray’s Pizza is simple but great tasting pizza by the slice meant to be eaten plain with cheese, maybe one ingredient. It’s just a really satisfying meal. Sal’s is a flashback to authentic New York style pizza and it’s a Wisconsin oasis for me when I want great pizza. I usually go for two cheese slices, maybe one with sausage only. The lovely Maureen always gets a cheese slice. The teens like the pepperoni and we always have to bring slices home if it’s just Maureen and me. I heard there’s a really good Mac and Cheese pizza. I don’t get it but I go simple here. Preparation hint: Unless it’s straight out of the oven, they throw the pizza slices into the pizza ovens to warm them up. They bring it out piping hot. Maureen likes it piping hot. I have burnt my mouth too many times on piping hot pizza so I tell them to just warm it up and«not too hot.» The staff is kinda quirky. They don’t add to the place. The pizza is the hero. Bottom line: If you like or miss New York Style Pizza, you’ve found the place. Don’t walk. Run. It’s a once a month great meal for Maureen and me.

For Wisconsin, this isn’t bad. But not much flavor on the $ 3 cheese slice. That could be why their specialty is toppings on the slices. They’re open late on the weekends! It’s NY-Style perhaps, but not NY pizza.

Summary: Pizza is pretty tasty, especially for appleton, wisconsin. Staff seems severely depressed. 2 big slices and a pop were $ 5 Came here for quick lunch. They had a lot of options for pizza, kinda like a sbarro’s almost. some interesting ones too, buff chicken, bbq pork, spinach and feta. I had the spinach and feta and a sausage mushroom. For the S and M, the crust was kind of tasty, cheese was really good, sauce had a good flavor to it. I was happy wit h it. I like the spinach and feta better though, it was like a «white pizza», the white sauce had nice, not overlypowerful garlic taste to it. I was a big fan. One thing I noticed when I was there was the staff was really cold, and unfriendly, when i was reading through the other Unilocal reviews, I noticed that someone else mentioned that as well. I wonder what the deal is. Prices were good, pizza was good, I’ll definitely be back.

When I’ve eaten at Sal’s, it’s usually been really late at night with the bar crowd, when the quality is not as good. Of course, the bar crowd loves it and they(er, we, I suppose) fill the booths and form gigantic lines out the door after bar close. They(we?) love the pizza anyway, even if it has been sitting out for a while. I like this place because it’s open late, it reminds me of pizza I’ve had in NYC, it’s cheap, AND your pizza slice comes with a garlic knot. It’s all a pretty sweet deal if you ask me and the location is really good, especially if you’re already out on the avenue. What makes Sal’s really unique is that it boasts a bunch of different specialty pizzas like a macaroni pizza, pineapple pizza, lasagna pizza, chicken and broccoli pizza, etc. I’m a fan of good ol’ fashioned cheese, but maybe I’ll venture out of my comfort zone of these days! The only reason Sal’s gets three stars instead of four is because you don’t get reliably good pizza. As I already mentioned, sometimes you can tell it’s been sitting out there for a few hours(especially some of those more inventive pizza combinations) and no amount of reheating in the oven can make it taste fresh. I love the times I know it’s fresh-out-of-the-oven. Yummy. Overall, I know I’ll be back at Sal’s, even if it is late at night and some of that pizza has been out for a while!

Awesome New York style pizza slices. Great for late night eats. Also, Juan is super nice and a very hard worker. Say hi to him!
