My favorite taqueria in all of Santa Cruz county. Most authentic food and always served in a timely and friendly manner! I love this little place it’s a true Santa Cruz treasure.

Delicious and fresh tasting ingredients — especially good salsa and guacamole. Quick and friendly service, too.

Best bean rice and cheese burrito north of Watsonville. And for less than $ 4 with chips and salsa. Don’t know about the other food but a sold 5 stars for the burritos.

I want to like this place but… I cant recommend it because of one of the workers there, a girl named Alex. Incredibly rude and incompetent. Twice she has taken my order and purposely not given me chips and salsa nor the limes i requested either. One of the times i took the order to go and didnt realize her foolish mistake until i was on the road. the second time i returned to complain she had mysteriously vanished and the cook from the back had to come up front and apologize for her joke of proper customer service. Seemed like he had to do that A LOT and was embarassed by her. Shes as dumb as rocks. I would fire her immediately. The rest of the workers are highly competent and the prices are fair.

Very good mexican food. In the Rancho del Mar shopping center. Accepts credit cards.

I’ve had a lot better. The problem here was the bland flavor of the food. I ordered a super burrito with carnitas. Carnitas were ok, nothing to recommend to anybody. My wife had a super quesadilla with carne asada. There was no carne asada flavor in the meat. It was just meat nothing special about the taste. I wanted to like it as I was looking for a local mexican food place. Maybe I went on an off day or didn’t try some of their possibly stellar foods.

This place has always been my favorite for 15years! Love the authentic rice and beans! The burritos are huge and oh so worth the fat belly after!

There are definitely better taquerias around then this place. i go mostly out of convenience since it’s right next to my work. The problem is that every time I order the same thing and get charged a different price. One time I was even told I couldn’t use my card because there was a minimum payment when I’ve always used my card. Today was it, I asked for the price over the phone and was told he couldn’t give me a price. WTF! Something very fishy going on here so I won’t be back.

I am afraid I have grown addicted to this place. The chips, the Salsa, the LA burrito. I have only met Sophia once some time ago and she is lovely, lovely. I often get a salad with my burrito. There are several to choose from. I have tried them all and the greens are fresh.

I’ve given this place two chances. My husband and I are very particular about our Mexican food, because so many places can have such bland food. This place is just that. I went to their«salsa bar», and was immediately turned off. The ice was melted and the salsa had to be room temperature, an obvious food safety violation. It looks and tastes like tomato sauce, water and chile, really lacks flavor. My pastor was bland and my burrito poured out a mystery juice, maybe from the salsa, but it made the tortilla soggy and unroll. My husband got the crane asada and it too was lifeless. If this is what Aptos considers«great Mexican food», I could make a killing by opening up a restaurant, mind you I’m not a trained chef but can come up with a more flavorful dish. I’m still in search of a decent Mexican place in Santa Cruz county where the food is fresh and no canned substitutes. I’m also pretty sure I left with mild food poisoning. I’m definitely not going back.

I’m giving them 5 stars based off their Pozole! The most delicious Pozole you’ll find anywhere in town. It’s my favorite Mexican soup. Most Pozole is made with pork, but they use chicken which I prefer. Also a great dish if u don’t like super spicy foods, it’s just enough spice that it doesn’t overwhelm your taste buds. I am so bummed this place is gonna be gone due to the«Mega Safeway». My boyfriend and I will definitely miss their Pozole!

I just moved to the Aptos area but I’ve lived in the Santa Cruz area for over a year. I had the super burrito with chicken and it’s the best I’ve had in Santa Cruz yet! The salsa was great too.

My Super Burrito didn’t have any meat in it. I brought it into the movie with me and didn’t realize the lack of meat until the show had started. The price was normal. $ 7.04 after tax. But man, that no meat thing really ticket me off. It was mostly rice and beans, with bits of vegetables here and there. Ah well… The search for a good burrito continues.

Much like Taqueria Los Gordos, this place wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either, and again, it is about the Salsa. The salsa is better than Los Gordos, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. It seems Aptos is just not the city for solid Mexican food. That said, if you have to choose, I would do Sofia, it is like 3 blocks form Los Gordos, and I personally prefer it.

My boyfriend introduced me to this place 4 years ago and we have been hooked ever since! Their burritos are perfect for sharing and they are absolutely amazing. The employees are always smiling and very welcoming. It is located in beautiful Aptos, CA and they have outdoor seating during those gorgeous summer days. The only complaint I have is their salsa is way too spicy. I wish they had a mild option to go with their DELICIOUS chips!

Sofia’s has been in Rancho del Mar pretty much forever. And as far as I can remember, its always been the same. I’ve always found their nachos particularly good, in a terrible, weighty way. Wonderful, oily, chips are made there. Thin and crunchy and delicious. In general, I think the food there tends to be a bit oily and a bit too salty. The portion sizes are big, and filling. If you’re in Aptos and want a taqueria, it’s a decent choice. But I’d drive 10 minutes in either direction, and be happier & healthier.
