Not going to lie. I didn’t expect much from this place but I was pelasantly surprised. I’ve been to a lot of donuts places in my lifetime(haha yes I’m a true oinker) and this doesn’t compare to my fave, but definitely one of the best options in northern va. The donuts are all made to order so when you get it, the outside is slightly crunchy with a soft warm inside and glazed with your choice. I got the lemon glaze and my husband got the chocolate glaze. Both were great. I think the donut definitely makes it. I can’t wait to go back and try some other options!!! Yum

Hands down best donut I have ever had the pleasure eating. I bought half a dozen as pre-blizzard treat. I didn’t intend on getting 6 but it just seemed easier that way. Plus, doesn’t hurt to sample the other toppings and glaze flavors. They are best eaten when fresh but they still maintain their deliciousness the day after.

After hearing all the hype for years I was excited when I saw that a location opened up just down the street. Now given the years of hype, I sort of expected to be a little let down, but that wasn’t the case at all. These donuts exceeded my expectation and then some. The donuts are all made fresh and they are generous with the toppings. While they are cake donuts they are not overly heavy or dense. Even when they were a few days old they were still better than most donut places around! The maple bacon was my favorite.

Wow! I went here not knowing what to expect. I heard the hype, so I thought I would try it out. When they first opened, the lines were silly long… out the door. I decided to wait a month for things to die down. Then I came in with my son one evening. OMG!!! This place is off the hook. I first tried the maple frosting with baccon bits… HEAVEN! Then moved onto the chocolate frosting with peanuts. I’m still new at this but this place rocks!!! I’ll be back for sure.

This seems to be the newest location of the franchise in the area. I’ve only gone in NC so I won’t compare but they def need more staff on the decorating side of fulfilling orders. Space is clean, yet compact but got crowded quickly so orders were a bit slow getting filled due to #of assembly staff. Your icing flavors/toppings are put on freshly made donuts to order so consider that this is not and in & out establishment. 4 stars because they are worth the wait

Duck Donuts is the real deal. Seriously, this place(hailing from the great state of North Carolina) lives up to all of the hype, and even better, is reasonably priced — donuts are only $ 1.25 each. Freshly made donuts come directly from the fryer into the hands of staff who dunk them into the icing of your choice(chocolate, glazed, maple, cinnamon sugar, peanut butter, and a few more). They then top them with the topping(s) of your choice(coconut, chocolate or rainbow sprinkles, peanuts, and more). Don’t even bother going home to eat them. Just devour them in the store while they are hot — they literally melt in your mouth! My husband and I got one with chocolate icing and coconut and the daily special, which was the cinnamon bun(sugar and cinnamon and then some vanilla icing on top). Mind blown.

These doughnuts are great, this morning I got a dozen for the office. We had maple bacon, reeses, chocolate mint, cinnamon bun, chocolate frosted and zebra(chocolate, vanilla frosting). These are cake doughnuts that come hot out of the fryer in front of you and you get to watch the staff put icing on. The doughnuts are fantastic and worth a try. The one issue is that the staff gets backed up since they are hand frosting everything in front of you. They’re hustling but the demand is too great.

This is the first time I’ve ever been to a Duck Donuts! I’ve heard of them after visiting OBX and seeing a DD down there. I visited the location in Arlington around 11 am on a Saturday morning. They didn’t have a ridiculous amount of flavors of donuts and topping and all that which I kind of like. They had a medium amount of donut flavors and a medium amount of toppings. It made it easier to pick what I wanted. We ordered and waited probably 5 minutes for the 5 or 6 order in front of us to be filled. The donuts were made fresh right in front of us and were given to us nice and hot. I got just a plain donut because I wasn’t feeling too crazy and it was great. Super dense and a lot of flavor even though it wasn’t covered with a bunch of toppings. I’m not usually craving a donut but if I am in the future, I’ll be making the drive over to Duck Donuts.

After seeing so many checkins on my feed, I made the trip here. If you love Krispy Kreme you will leave them for Duck Donuts. Just recently I found out that Dunkin Donuts is not fresh! All their donuts come off a truck! I go in and the place isn’t that packed. You fill out a yellow slip of paper. Similar to ordering sushi. You mark how many, type of glaze and toppings or you can go with the daily specials or pre set flavors. My favorite is maple coating with bacon bits. Their conveyor belt isnt that big but you can see them being made. Then it’s cooked to order. Fresh warm donuts! Unlike their competitor. The employees are all friendly and helpful. The cashier made great suggestions as well. Its best to eat them warm or if they get cold you can always reheat. Once you sink your teeth it’s love at first bite! Outdoor seating is limited. They told me that they are expanding and will have a location in Rockville in March 2016! 5 star service!

Customizable donuts made to order. This place is a refreshing take on the now well-populated craft donut scene. If you’re into cake donuts, this place is excellent. It’s a 4-step process to deliciousness: 1. You pick your icing and topping(stroooongly recommend peanut butter and bacon) 2. You see your freshly made donut(cool machine right behind the counter) sauced and topped right in front of you 3. You pay a very reasonable price 4. You enjoy — after waiting a minute or so for the donut to cool I’m definitely more of a yeast donut person, but Inwill certainly be coming back here.

I feel like I ate pancakes with frosting on them. They were good but I wanted a donut.

I knew that Duck Donuts was expanding into Arlington, but I had no idea where, so imagine my immense surprise and delight when I stumbled upon their newest Northern VA location upon a routine trip to Harris Teeter! This location is in the stretch of Arlington that’s juuuuust up from Falls Church, so it’s craaaazy convenient for me(a good/bad thing). The donuts here are just as delicious as any I’ve had at their Herndon or Fairfax locations, and while there’s no indoor seating, it’s a great place to grab your donuts and coffee in the AM. There’s also plenty of outdoor tables, which, given the fact that it’s felt like Spring over the past few weeks of «winter,» worked out pretty well for us. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: cinnamon sugar. That’s all you need. A hot, fresh donut rolled in cinnamon sugar, and you’ll never go back. It’s basically a more delicious churro. You’re welcome.

Embarrassingly, despite hearing of the Duck Donuts chain for a decade or two, I never made it until a joint opened in Arlington. I was in the neighborhood on a weekday between the breakfast and lunch rush and decided to treat myself to two decadent rings, maple-bacon and pumpkin pie, and a large iced coffee. Generally, I’m in the Krispy Kreme hot-yeasty-glazed donut camp, but these(cake) donuts were fantastic. They’re piping hot, full of flavor, and the price is right(I think it was in the low $ 5s for all three items combined, including tax). Duck Donuts makes their donuts and flavors them to order. They didn’t skimp on the toppings either; crumbled bacon and icing encased the surface perfectly. The place has about four or five small patio tables outside, and I’d imagine it gets pretty crowded on weekend mornings. For the price and product though, it’s almost certainly worth the wait.

Who doesn’t love a warm, fresh, and delicious donut… if you raised your hand, I have to wonder about you, lol. I’m all about my donuts, so I’m working my way around to try a ton of different donut shops. Duck Donuts just happens to be near my son’s orthodontist. So, we popped in for a donut and coffee. Yes, I realize we were leaving a dentist office, don’t judge us, lol. First impressions: I was expecting it to smell more donutie(I made that up), maybe it was too early. It was a clean looking location, tucked in the back of the shopping plaza, and the staff was pretty friendly coming in. However, they didn’t offer to explain to us how it worked. So we read the signs, discussed the possibilities and then each picked a donut… me: maple glaze with bacon pieces and him: chocolate glaze with rainbow sprinkles. Success! The donuts come out, they are warm and taste pretty good, no complaints. We discussed on our car ride to school if we preferred this spot or our other favorite donut spot. The other spot got our vote. But Duck Donuts is not bad at all if you live in this part of Arlington.

The freshly fried doughnuts will be gone in a jiffy. They seem neither cake-like nor heavy-textured. They are just light as can be, and perfectly balanced in sweetness — not overwhelmingly, sickly sugary. You get to choose a customized glaze which is expertly spread by staff behind the counters. The thin glaze is the perfect accent on this delectable ring of fried dough. I felt that this place gets the sweetness just right, subtly underdone and piqued by the glaze. Go go go. Get a cup of coffee(their dark roast is my preferred, stands up well to doughnuts) and savor the gold-medal perfection of Duck Donuts.

Had our first«Duck Donut» tonight and it was great! I enjoyed the chocolate with rainbow sprinkles while my husband had the peanut butter with chocolate sprinkles. We split them and both were equally delicious. The great thing about these cake donuts is that the flavors and toppings aren’t overpowering and the fresh donut remains the primary flavor. A great treat, we’ll be back!

I’ve been to Blue Star Donuts and Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR. I’ve been to Dynamo Donuts and Donut Savant in SF/Oakland, CA. I’ve been to Top Pot and Daily Dozen in Seattle, WA. I’ve been to Glazed & Infused and Stan’s Donuts in Chicago, IL. I like donuts a lot. This place is better than all of them. No bullshit. For only being open two weeks this place is insanely good and already popular. Expect a line, even 10 minutes before closing. Holy shit, Duck Donuts. Keep it up.

First things first: these donuts are delicious! This is the donut place you go to when you want something classic and always tasty. All the donuts are cake donuts(which I love), and they hand dip them and/or sprinkle them as you order so there are endless combinations. It’s fun to watch it all happen, and if you order a bunch of donuts they’ll create a variety for you upon request — each donut can be unique and the employees’ creativity is amazing. Not only are they tasty, they look super pretty as well — great for catering breakfast to a crowd!

Duck Donuts. Feed your inner fat kid. Why? Because f*ck you pants! Duck donuts is for the mogul that prefers customized donuts to the plebeian run-of-the-mill pre-ordained selection. I understand this is a small chain that started in the Outer Banks(probably Duck is a good guess…) The donuts are all plain cake, fresh and warm from the fryer, and you select from a variety of frostings and toppings. The whole process is incredibly fast, in spite of being made to order. I give this place four solid stars. I still prefer Astro’s yeast donut, but I can say Duck’s cake donut is better than Astro’s cake version. They come close to the amazing donuts the pink Mama’s Donut Bites food truck churns out. All three are far better than Dunkin Donuts. And I’m not even a little ashamed to admit I have enough experience with local donuts to draft my version of a Zagat guide for DC metro area donuts and baked goods… I appear to be the first person reviewing this location as it just opened, so stop by and check it out.
