New ownership and new menu. Does anybody know where did the chef of the Sushi Samurai go? I want to follow them, they are our family’s favorite dinner place. I miss the sushi and sashimi combination and the ramen.

Recently changed ownership. However, so far the sushi is still the best. Fresh, good service and abundant choices and quantity. Will keep coming just as I have for the pat 15 years between the two different locations.

Samurai has closed it’s doors and a new sushi place will be moving in. I was a little shocked when I walked up tonight. Hopefully Samurai opens it’s new doors in the same community.

We have been coming to this family own place for years. The food is good(it is Korean owned and you can tell that some of the rolls have a Korean flare to it) and the service is great. Will keep coming back!

Are here last night. Mom-and-pops-y. Aside from the sushi bar, there were around 12 – 16 table, most of them full when we came. The lady that sat us was also the lady that took our order and served us our food. That being said, she also had to sit people coming in the door as she was taking our order, so it took about a good nearly 10 minutes with all the interruptions before we got our order in. We ordered a lot of food, the highlight was the little kimchi and bean sprouts that were free(fiiiiiireeeee) and I really liked the udon. The hamachi nigiri was perfect temp and I love how they didn’t serve anything near the bloodline. However, we ordered oysters and they were closer to the warmer side, so unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy them. We let the server lady know that it was warm, and she chuckled and walked away, so I’m not sure if she understood that the oysters could have killed us. The English suit was not her strongest. Hahaha. Used to eat at the old location. Probably won’t eat here again on my own accord. While everything was good, oysters not being handled properly is definitely a deal breaker.

$ 16 for sushi and sashimi dinner combo. You get what you pay for, but service was pretty efficient. Save your money and head to the Valley(Ventura Blvd) for amazing sushi. They gave us some free cooked fish(the bone which had some meat on it). Wasn’t worth eating but good to see they don’t waste food. We ordered the tempura green tea ice cream and that was pretty good.

This place is amazing! Came here with my his an and friend for dinner and it wasn’t a disappointment. Amazing sushi and chicken teriyaki. Customer service is great. Gets crowded towards the evening but worth the wait. Would definitely come back to this location with family and friends

I was sick with a cough and wanted some soup, and i saw a picture of their udon soup on Unilocal so i thought id give this place a try. I didnt want to go to my usual sushi place because the ambiance makes it feel cold and dark. And because i was sick i didnt want to go there. So when i came here and saw that they had mire lighting and a warmer feel. I was already happy just by walking in. I ordered the udon with veggies and shrimp tempura and it was good and warm:) just what my throat needed. My boyfriend ordered the crawfish roll and crunchy salmon roll(which i tried) and they were both really good too! We even got some baked salmon on the house and that was nice and juicy:) the servers were really nice as well. I will be back here more often:)

Good quality sushi & Japanese food. When I come with my aunt, they hook it up fatty whap with the KAMA! Always get one of the boats, there is so much good, quality food on them, you will not regret!

Just amazing place! Prices are fair and staff is polite! What else could you wish? Rolls are big and tasty. We were at this place at the best time. Very spacious and not that much people. Our lunch came out to 30 $ but we couldn’t even finish it. The nicest staff ever, they gave us complimentary salmon(it was two big pieces). In this area this sushi place is the best.

I love this sushi restaurant! I only wished I lived closer to go there every week. Their service is a little slow but their food makes up for it! They are very generous with their portions so you are getting your money’s worth. Sometimes the chef will give you free salmon ;) Overall, I have nothing bad to say about this place, I give them two thumbs up.

I just had dinner here with my brother for the first time. I must say it was pretty good. I had the shrimp tempura udon(which I loved) and salmon crunch roll(which was okay — the batter had no flavor). I also had the scallop rolls, which I didn’t like too much. The sauce reminded me of mayonnaise(which I’m scared of nowadays), so I couldn’t eat much of it. My brother had the jalapeño tempura(not bad), salmon sushi(good), and some others I can’t remember as I didn’t try them. Service was okay, so I can’t complain about it. The prices are a bit steep but not too bad. Overall, my experience was good and might return one day.

Sushi Samurai is my all time favorite Sushi restaurant without a doubt. I’ve been going here since their old location. I can’t say enough about how good the chef is. I also enjoy watching him work. He’s an artist and super nice. The rest of the staff is very friendly.

One of my co-workers recommend for me to try this place out and I can’t say I was impressed with the food. To me the sushi weren’t all too fresh and the general taste of the food was just okay. The waitresses were all really nice and they even offered free salmon collar. However, I have tried other japanese/teriyaki/sushi places that are far better than this place. Like stated before, the food just doesn’t cut it for me and for that reason I will not be coming back to this place.

Very mixed feelings about this place. Im not sure how to describe it? I wish there was a 0.5 because i would give it a 3.5. Service They were super nice and attentive. We told them it was our birthday and the server gave us free mochi icecream cake. It was small– but it was delicious! Food So this is the iffy part. We got the live fish dish. We asked how it worked and the waiter kindly told us that they first bring a dish of all the fresh fish they bring in each day. Then after that, they bring small plates of other fresh fish(?) that came in that day and we just let them know when were full and they’ll stop bringing the food over. Then we asked about the price and he said he didnt know and that it differs by the type of fish and by the sushi chef. We ate a lot. The food was very fresh and good! But of course we didnt know what to expect for the check. It came out to be 50+30(special plates). Kind of surprising but at the same time expected because it is a sushi place. I just wish we knew what the price of the whole meal was so we werent so shocked when we received the check. The only other complaint about this place is that the bathroom smelled really bad. I would come here again. Their food was very fresh but probably wont do the live fish dish again.

I really enjoyed eating here. There sushi and sashimi combination was fabulous. It had such an enormous quantity of sashimi and sushi rolls that it took two people to finish it. The quality of the sashimi was amazing. The staff here is really nice too. The restaurant is nothing fancy but it has a nice quiet vibe that allows you to sit and enjoy good conversation if you come here with friends. Overall I will definitely be going back as their quality, quantity and prices of sushi & sashimi are very good!

I will be reviewing this restaurant for it’s décor, service, food quality, and price. Décor(4): The design of the restaurant is sushi bar centric. All of the tables, chairs, and booths surround the sushi bar which is great because it shortens the trip of the sushi from chef to table. The temperature of the sushi can drastically change the flavor and this floor plan ensures the minimal distance that can cause temperature change. The restaurant seats over 100 including tables and sushi bar, which isn’t massive, but is far better at handling high volumes than the smaller sushi studios around. The booths looked NEW… VERY comfortable… The tables were clean when we sat down. The walls were clean and the room was well air conditioned. Sitting along the booths in the back row makes it so that you only see half of the television. It’s kind of a waste… If you want to watch tv, sit at the sushi bar because you won’t see it o Service(4): We came right before last call so it’s natural that we were a little rushed, but they were very attentive and pushed last call until we ordered instead of sending us home. They grabbed our plates as soon as we were done eating. Food Quality(4.5): We ordered the Miso soup, baked scallop roll, caterpillar roll, Philadelphia roll, and oysters. The oysters were small and served with green onion. I was not a fan of the green onion, but the lemon and tabasco added just the right amount of flavor. The Philadelphia roll was served with salmon which was a very nice and delicious touch. The caterpillar had very little fish. The majority of the roll was the avocado and the carrot/cucumber. This is HANDSDOWN… the BEST Baked Scallop California roll that I have ever had. The use of seaweed and sauce made the flavors so powerful and enjoyable. That sushi roll treated me better than my ex-girlfriend! Price: The rolls were very well priced for the local sushi market. We didn’t come during happy hour and didn’t get any discounts. The average price of a roll was $ 9.00. Our whole order came out to be about $ 45 dollars and we ordered more than the two of us could even finish.

My friend invited my to lunch here a few months back. I had never heard of it but i was willing to try since she suggested it. It was hidden off the street in a new center. When i entered the lay out was sort of odd, but i was seated right away. Since i was there for lunch, I got there lunch special, it came with two rolls, salad, and miso soup. Everything was really tasty and prepared quickly. My friend ordered two speciality rolls and they were also pretty good. I don’t think I would come back because it was just an average experience and menu wasn’t anything interesting or different than the other sushi restaurants i’ve been too. But if you are in this center and want sushi, try it out i guess.

Alright, I really loved this place when it was located next to Toys R Us back in the day. Unfortunately, the last two times I came here, the service has been the worst. The workers are nice and they mean well, but their ability to act as host/busser/waiter/take-out is spreading them so thin. To the businessowner: don’t be cheap and hire an additional staff member or two so service won’t be so slow/unbearable.

Must try! The service here awesome, came in on a Saturday night and surprisingly there was no wait, so we got seated right away. After ordering we waiting about 15 minutes, not too bad considering everything was fresh and two families just got there right before we did. The service is awesome, and the food was delicious and fresh!
