We dine in frequently at this place. Placed an order for catering first time, little hesitant whether the food quality and taste is going to be same as dine in. It was good, same quality as dine in. Surender was very good and professional. Order was ready promptly at the given time and all the items met the expectation. I would definitely order from them again. Happy with the service.

This place is now called ‘Bhimas Vegetarian’ The owners prefer to keep the temperature at 85 degrees on a hot summer day. The food and the service is better than the ambience and temperature inside.

Let me start by saying I have eaten dosas in India and as well in the US and this is by far the worst dining experience and lack luster food(dosas) I have ever eaten. Please go here if you want to wait for 25 minutes before anyone comes to your table and then wait another 10 minutes for water. My husband got so irritated, he went to the counter where they had kept the water with glasses and got it himself. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, we finally placed our order and waited and waited and waited. After another 30 minutes, the server comes with our order but has got something completely different for me than what I had ordered. So he takes it back and says he will get me the right dish. By the time my husband finished his meal, my food was nowhere in sight. When he finally went to kitchen to enquire, he was told the server had simply cancelled the order. So if I wanted my dish, I would have to wait another 30 min. WOW! Even if you forget about the horrendous service and lack of disconnect between the servers and the kitchen, my husband’s dosa was pretty lackluster. The quality of the food was pretty pathetic, it was not straight from the griddle and if there is one thing I hate its eating cold dosas. My husband was so disgusted, he asked to speak to the manager who we were told will stop by… he never did! We waited for 10 minutes and when we were paying our bill at the cashier, the woman just rolled her eyes when my husband mentioned our horrible and awful dining experience. No apology, no explanation… worst attitude in customer service. To top this, the restroom is a nightmare. There is toilet paper and seat covers thrown all over the floor, I have yet to enter a more dirty restroom in LA! I didn’t even use it. it was that yucky! Even if I am starving, I would never come to this restaurant again… worst service and food in LA!

Great authentic south Indian food! The south Indian thali is a must have. You can get unlimited refills on the thali which is pretty awesome. The ‘curd’(yogurt) certainly reminded me of home and was to die for!

Food was surprisingly good. Ordered vada/pongal combo, chettinad biryani and onion dosa. Onion Dosa topped the list. It was exactly like i was eating something in Andhra. Loved the chutneys. Pongal was buttery and vada was crispy as they should be. Chettinad biryani was spicy and the raita and kurma that came with it were good too. Staff were pleasant and listened to what exactly we wanted unlike the Old/Rude bunch in Udupi palace. Definitely would come back to try other items.

Awesome sambar and dosa. I had mini tiffin with huge idly dipped in a big bowl full sambar with pretty big masala dosa, a tiny bowl of pongal, chillivchutney, gun powder chutney and coconut chutney. then got payasam too… Wow… Awesome meal… Their sambar is the best… Perfect spicy combination. If you love spicy authentic food, you would love it… I willbgo every weekend :)

Visited this place last weekend. we have ordered upma esarattu and thali. When i opened upma pesarattu, i could hardly find any upma in that. after asking twice, i got an extra upma and the pesarattu dough was too sour. And so was the thali. one chapathi that they serves was too hard and when my husband requested for a better one, he received another with the sane texture. curries were gone bad. We tried to tell the person upfront while paying money and here goes the conversation: Me: Pesarattu dough was too sour. I couldn’t even eat it. Person upfront: oh! ok Me: surprised!!! My Husband: And so were the curries. two of them were gone bad. Person upfront: oh! ok My husband and I: oh ok! let’s move! two stars are for better experience that i had with them before. Looks like, Bhimas lost the quality way before. They need to keep up with the quality and listen to their customers when they point out about the quality than being ignorant and saying oh ok!!! No doubt why you guys are almost empty lately. Good luck!

Had a spicy veg thali. It’s authentic south India thali the ones we find back in India. The food is not only yummy but looks and served very well. Generally rice would be oily or basmati which is not authentic but here they have perfectly cooked rice that goes really well with the curries. Dal is amazing and curries are perfect. Service is good, the waiters were friendly. It would be perfect if they made the interiors look a little better but this is the place I probably would go back again and again over the time. If you are looking for authentic South Indian food this is the place.

Stopped by for lunch a couple of days ago even though I was not too keen on visiting as this is a pure vegetarian thali place. There are a couple of different types of thali’s the notable being the North Indian style or the Andhra Style(South Indian style). Our friendly and comical Nepali server had memorized the items in each and rattled them off like a bullet train which obviously I could not catch so after having him repeat each list two times I simply asked him to tell me the differences between the two which obviously he could not. Anyway other people in our group were getting restless so I just went with the Andhra Style one and so did most of the people in our group. Again you can go for the set thali or the all you can eat version($ 11.99 + tax) which is just a couple of dollars more than the set version so that’s what we went for. Considering the large group the food did not take too long to be prepared. The thali comes with rice, papad, roti and curd which I think were the best part of the thali :) All the vegetarian dishes were very average and almost forgettable. Service was fast and our server kept refilling bowls at great speed. I personally liked the vegetarian thali at «Udupi Palace» better even though there is no AYCE option and that’s where I generally go but can come here once in a while to mix things up.

Haven’t had a thali like this since my years back in Hyderabad. Highly recommended. Great service and great food. Taking into account many had issues with service, I should add we visited the place during a rather low traffic time.

This time I have no option other than giving one star. It’s for the service. I wonder if they have any knowledge of customer service. You may need to keep waiting for hours to be seated, unless you could get hold of someone who works there and beg for a seat. Once seated, you may need to beg again to take the order. Then you may need to fight with the staff to get the food delivered. If you are lucky, will get the food you ordered! I had to literally do the bearers job to grab the food from the counter to our table. Most staff members do not know English. The lady staffs do not even know to read the table numbers. You can see them roaming around with the food plates to all the tables not knowing the right table. We went there because the food was still delicious. But totally disappointed with the service.

Food was great so this review was solely based on service. We were the party of 12. The last person got the food after two hours of wait while everyone else in the group got their food and done eating! There seems to be disconnect between the servers and cooks in the back. Food was great. I would definitely try out the Mysore dosa and Pizza dosa again.

This place is now known as New Bhimas. I had heard that this place was very good when it used to be Thirupathi Bhimas, and that the quality of food had deteriorated after the change in name and management. Nothing could have prepared us for the horror show that was to follow. Ambience: The place reminded us of a sleazy strip club. The dark restaurant was lined with bright blue and green neon lights all over. It seemed unnecessary and kind of weird, but we hoped the food would be good. Service: Absolutely terrible. I am not blaming the waiters of non-Indian origin, for whom it is understandably difficult to know the difference between a Masala Vada and a plain Dosa. Upper management has done a terrible job of training the waiters. They barely spoke English, not understanding when I asked for an extra plate. Half my order was not even taken, and this was only communicated to me after 20 minutes of waiting. I had already lost my appetite by then. Orders were being confused all over the place too, with waiters serving the wrong dishes to the wrong tables. Oh what chaos. Food: All this might have been forgivable in an Indian restaurant if the food was good. The Andhra Vegetarian Spicy Thali was just terrible. The dishes were simply floating in oil. Eating the rasam was like eating a chilli and tomato smeared with excessive oil. The amount of rice provided was paltry. We had never tasted such horrible Indian food before. Even an average meal would not have elicited such a review, but the dishes were simply unpalatable. To be fair, they did salvage themselves with their Dosa and Masala Vada which were reasonably good, but the order had been messed up(see section«Service»). Not to mention that 2 out of the 3 chutneys tasted weird. Music: Oh lord the music. To top it all off, the Sitar music in the background was loud, jarring and annoying. Again, forgivable if the food was good. Absolutely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Hope management reads this and starts revamping things. Unforgivable experience for a restaurant, especially on a Saturday evening.

This place used to be Tirupathi Bhimas and it was upstairs. It is now called New Bhimas at the Little India Village shopping center and was moved downstairs I thought the food was good and the portion was large. I ordered the Mysore Masala Dosa and hubby ordered Madras Masala Dosa. The Madras Masala Dosa is really flavorful and hot spicy. Both were hot SPICY, actually. The non-spicy dosa is jus thet regular Masala Dosa if you don’t like hot. The sambhar was good but it is spicy. Next time, I’ll buy bottled water for extra water. Dosa was yummy but be careful if you don’t like spicy. Food is delicious but a bit on the salty side for me. Just a tiny bit, not too bad. It is delicious and I’ll still be back. I especially like their chutney: mint, coconut, and tomato. My favorite is the coconut chutney. The parking was plenty when we arrived and the guard told us where to park. My Indian friend once told me a tip that if we go to an Indian restaurant like this one(where all the Indians go to and a small number of Americans customers), go early, before 8 pm. Why? I asked. He said because Indians go out to dinner pretty late. He was right. We arrived at 7:30 ish and the place was almost empty. 15 minutes later, there was a parade of Indian families started to come and filled up the place pretty quickly. By the time we finished eating at 8:15, the place was packed. I always remember this tip when we go to ethnic Indian restaurant and it works all the time. We were the only non-Indians. The service was so so. We weren’t entirely forgotten but when the place got busy, the waitresses and waiters were pretty busy. After dinner, we walked around Little India and saw so many people went grocery shopping at the Indian markets. Amazing, grocery shopping on a Saturday night? We think that a lot of Indians came to have dinner and then went grocery shopping. Maybe they live far away so they do all their activities in 1 night.
