A «not to be missed» restaurant. Excellent service from Tim B. who was very personable and made great recommendations. Their crispy oysters are delicious and their red trout was worthy of 10 stars! Extremely enjoyable experience!

We came with a large group of friends from All over the country. Overall service was excellent and friendly. While the food tastes fine and was made from fresh ingredients, most of us had sticker shock over the prices. The quality and lack of creativity definitely didn’t warrant the prices. The atmosphere is nice, service good but quality not matched by the price.

We were horribly disappointed by the mediocre food, indifferent service and extremely high price tag at this restaurant. We spend time in Aspen every winter and will cross this off our list!

This was my first trip to Aspen and Pinions came highly recommended. Some even told us that it is the best restaurant in Aspen. I got the 14 oz Rib Eye with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. It was very good. It wasn’t the best steak I’ve ever had but it was very good. The food at Pinions is not in question, it is well worth the visit. The problem I had with this establishment was the service. We were first sat at a table(we had a reservations), after being at the table for about 10 minutes we were asked to move so they could use our table for a larger party. We happily moved with no incident. Once at our new table we waited patiently for the server. The Sommelier came over and greeted us. He was very attentive and made us feel appreciated. He along with the food were the highlight of our dining experience. There were 6 of us at the table. We asked if checks could be separated and were informed by our server(Libby) that we could not. So began the task of everyone paying. The total of our bill was around $ 660.00. Several of us had gift-cards. We gave them to her and told her what amount to run on each card. She seemed a little put off by us having her do this. After some time we finally got it all worked out. There was some confusion on how gift-cards and tips work(Libby apparently has never dealt with that situation). She then proceeded to confront 2 of our party and ask them not to leave. She thought we were trying to «stiff» her. At this time all of the check books were on the table and the credit card receipts had been signed. She assumed we were not taking care of her. Her exact words were, «I can’t believe you are only going to leave me a $ 90 tip». Keep in mind that she hadn’t even looked at all of the receipts that had tips hand written in. She gathered them all up to check them for herself before allowed to leave. She returned a short time later and essentially said we were all good. She never once apologized for berating a customer or accusing us of attempted theft. We had left her slightly over 20% as her tip. Once she realized that we did take care of her and had no intention of «screwing her out of her $$», she walked away. No «I’m sorry» or any other type of apology. One of our party complained to the manager. He was informed that the servers(Libby) behavior was appalling, embarrassing and completely unacceptable. He assured us that he would speak to her about the incident. That was the end of what was a great meal. To be honest most of the experience we had at Pinions was tarnished by the ending. I may or may never go back to Aspen, but one thing I can say for sure is that I won’t go back to Pinions. It is a great restaurant but there is something really wrong with any business that allows an employee like Libby to stay employed. If you do go to Pinions make sure you stay as far away from Libby as possible. She will ruin your dining experience!!!

Came here to have xmas dinner during my visit to Aspen. Started with the wedge salad, a must try, salad comes with Hardboiled egg, chopped chives & Maytag bleu cheese dressing and the pinons pasta. For entrée, i split the Parmesan Crusted Veal Chop Stuffed with prosciutto and fontina, white truffle risotto, mixed forest mushroom sauce with hubby. Im not crazy about the veal because its so bland, glad the truffle risotto made the dish better. Not sure what the hype was… service was slow because our table was hidden. Sure there are better place to eat in Aspen.

Pinions is located on the second level of a two story building in the Center of Aspen. It’s an elegant(yet casual) fine dining restaurant and a great spot for a quiet romantic dinner. The views of Aspen mountain from the restaurant are beautiful and at night you can watch the groomers grooming the mountain; you see bright lights going up and down the mountain and it’s very cool. It’s our opinion that the best entrees at Pinions are the steaks and lamb(as opposed to the fish); as well as their burrata, prosciutto and tomatoe salad. Pinions steak is by far the most flavourful in town; and ranks above Jimmy’s and Steak House 316.

Came here with a group of friends just after the new year. The place was slammed — likely to do with the holiday season. One of my friends who has a place in Apsen said this was his favorite restaurant, so I was really looking forward to a great experience. We were sat right away without a complete party, which was more accommodating than most places. The waiter came by and took our drink orders, but he was clearly frazzled. The rest of our party joined us and we all settled in with our drinks. The atmosphere was lively with mountain feel. Perfect for Aspen. For food I ordered a burrata peach prosciutto salad, which was nothing to write home about. I had a nibble of my wife’s duck quesadilla, which was delisicous! For my main I tried the bison filet, which was okay but slightly over cooked to my liking and not as flavorful as I expected. My fiend next to me ordered the same and his steak larger and cooked to perfection.(Medium rare). My wife ordered the Dover Sol in a burre blanc sauce — which was very tasty. My biggest issue with the restaurant was the service. Nobody came to clear my finished Manhattan, and the waiter never asked how our meal was or asked if we wanted to order more drinks or wine. I know they were busy, but for such a pricey restaurant I would have excepted more. I’ll give them another shot next time.

This restaurant was not good at all! The food was mediocre at best. What made our dining experience worse, was the horrible service we received from Libby. She was extremely rude to us, as soon as we sat down. She also made numerous nasty comments. This is a restaurant you should definitely avoid!

I came here with a group of people. The service was a bit spotty but the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I ordered the duck quesadillas for a starter and they were fantastic, a must when dining here. I had the Dover sole with a lemon butter Sauce for my main and it was quite good as well. The banana Nutella desert was tasty but the $ 14.50 price tag for a of that size desert was a rip off. I don’t recall ever spending that much on desert at a nice restaurant and would say to charge that much would require a larger portion to make sense of the price tag. Overall, a good dining experience.

I’ve been going to Pinons since it opened(too many years to count). I made a reservation weeks ago for this evening and when the restaurant called to confirm, they got the time wrong. When I told the rude, disinterested individual who called me that they had the time wrong, he said«well this is what we have so I’m going to cancel the reservation» and then hung up. So this is simple, never again will I patronize what was a very good restaurant. There are too many other premium priced choices in Aspen to bother with being treated so unprofessionally. So, I’ll vote with my wallet and urge others to do the same. What a shame… UPDATE: I did receive a call from the manager apologizing for the conduct of the person who called me, which was appropriate an appreciated. So, I will reconsider returning in the future, and I have updated the star rating accordingly.

Aspen is lovely and we wanted to do one really nice dinner there during our Snowmass trip. We spent about $ 300 for 4 people and had an A-OK experience. We fully expected high prices in Aspen and were willing to pay. However, we expected food to be up to par as well. The service was GREAT, the food wasn’t the best but was good. The wedge salad was not impressive, not sure how you screw that up. The raw oysters on the half shell were delicious but was not a fan of the Tabasco sorbet. They should have a couple different finishes to choose from aside from your basic vinegar, horse radish etc. Two of us ordered the filet medium-rare and had very different looking centers. I will say I enjoyed mine but it was very overpriced. As a sales professional who wines and dines on the reg, and eats a whole lot of steak, I wanted more out of the dish. Risotto was delicious, and I highly recommend it.

We had dinner during restaurant closing week(the last week of September), and the meal truly was one of the best we’ve had, not just in Aspen, but anywhere. Our table of five enjoyed appetizers of wedge salad, Freddy’s salad and crispy oysters(absolutely incredible!). Our entrees included the trout, a stuffed veal chop, and tenderloin of bison. This is the first time I’ve tasted what was apparently free-range bison, as it had a delicious gamy flavor, unlike the tamer version I’ve eaten at other restaurants. The three guys at the table were celebrating birthdays, so Tim, our wonderful server, brought out three of the most incredible desserts we’ve ever seen or tasted! All in all, a strictly first-class meal! Definitely the best meal we had in Aspen.

If you’re ever in Aspen you must, I repeat YOUMUST eat at Piñons. This one of my favorite restaurants in the world! I’m upset with myself that I only went once when I was there. Attempted two other times though. The first attempt the kitchen closed by the time I got there one time and the second time I tried they were booked… #fail I suggest to seat at the bar. That’s where it’s at. Excellent service, welcoming and warm atmosphere, same delicious food, and you won’t have an empty glass. Another plus why sitting at the bar is great, everything in Aspen is pretty pricey so it’s nice to save a couple bucks while you’re there but still get the best the city has to offer. At the bar at Piñons you can choose an appetizer and an entrée for $ 35! Two course meal steal! My entrée alone on the main menu was $ 32. The portions of each meal are big and hearty. Two people can even share but you won’t want to. The food is served in perfect temperature even the assorted bread basket. I choose a goat cheese and beet salad for my appie and for my main the roasted free range chicken breast that is served with cornbread stuffing, caramelized pearl onions, and a light shiitake mushroom sauce. Mouth watering amazing ness!

Pitons seems to be the ‘crown jewel’ of Aspen restaurants. It’s rare to find an establishment that has survived 30 years in a tourist destination, but Pinons succeeds with great service, great food(and the prices you would expect to keep the rent paid). One of my favorite parts of visiting Colorado is getting buffalo, which isn’t usually on the menu where I live. My steak was so incredibly soft and tender, and cooked perfectly. The trout melts in your mouth. It’s one of the richest, tastiest fish dishes I’ve ever seen. The same can be said about the crispy oysters. Get them! Indulge! You’re in Aspen! My favorite part was the potatoes, served gratin, but square… literally like potato lasagna. I need that recipe at home.

We ordered the oysters and buffalo meatball appetizers both were very good. The mains were mostly meats. We chose the Buffalo and Lamb both arrived not cooked to the correct temperature. The lamb was well done not medium rare and Buffalo raw. We sent both back the second time the Lamb arrived raw and Buffalo still raw. The Buffalo was then cooked a bit more and was actually quite tender and tasty. The waiter was very nice and bought a couple of glasses of wine to make up for the poor presentation from the kitchen. The Grill person should have been trained to cook meat to correct temperature.

A fun dinner with good friends at a restaurant in a new city certainly could influence my review. I had Oso Buco, my friend Mark had Buffalo, KC had Tenderloin and Gail had the Colorado Trout. We shared bites. The desserts were crazy good! Piñon’s was very very good! Service was fast and friendly. Kicks ass and balls!

Pinions is good. White table clock American food. Interesting bar and extensive wine list. Attentive service. Eat. At. The. Bar. They have a fixed price menu for $ 35 that offers a decent variety of some of their more popular items. I had the snapper which was pretty good. Wedge salad, also decent. I like this place. For the price point, I like it slightly less.
