Rain or shine, right after the Trolley ride, we’re stopping here & we did! I’ve never had one of those great ice cream before, but this is a MUST have, when visiting Astoria. I must have sampled 3 before I settled Marshmallow Rocky Road. So good!

This place is a hole in a wall in Astoria. My friends and I were in Portland for a few days and decided to visit Astoria as well(~50mins) away. We were craving for ice cream and we saw Frite &Scoop, the only dessert place that was still opened on a Sunday evening. They have variety of flavors but not as many as the ice cream place in LA, CA. I chose the single scoop classic custard flavor in a sugar. It was really good and refreshing however, it was a bit too sweet for me. I’m not a huge fan of ice cream but I do eat it occasionally. I didn’t end up everything so my boyfriend had to finish it for me. I also found it a bit pricey, single scoop for $ 3.50 and double scoop for $ 7. Pro: variety of flavors, friendly staff, sitting area inside and out. Con: no parkings and a bit pricey.

Amazing ice cream, super interesting flavors and the nicest owner ever. We got here when it opened and sampled almost everything because there was no line yet. IT’S ALLGREAT! Difficult to even choose, so they will kindly split a scoop with two flavors. I highly recommend this shop. If you like ice cream, you’ll be in heaven.

I enjoyed the ice cream very much until I found a long strand of hair in the middle of it. After that I just had to throw the rest of it away. Bleh. Fortunately that opened me up to eating the fries without being concerned about mixing the sweetness of the ice cream with the flavor of the sauce provided for the fries. I don’t often mix those two items(and when I do I don’t like using any kind of sauce with the fries) so at least I was able to enjoy the fries a little more.

Tasty ice cream. Cannot compete with Salt & Straw, but we still really enjoyed it. We sampled a bunch of flavors but ultimately settled on: Chef’s Choice, chocolate, and blueberry sorbet. Totally hit the spot on a warm day. We’ll be back!

A must visit in Astoria. They make small handmade batches so they do run out of ice cream sometimes. The House made waffle cones smell amazing. My aunt had a donut they made as a special and she said it was delicious. My favorite flavor is the basic Hokey Pokey, sweet cream with honey comb chunks.

All the girls working here were very friendly and nice. The London fog ice cream was great. I wished I was hungry because the Rosemary frites sounded awesome! I will be back!

My only complaint about this place is how many other people love it, too! It gets crowded during the summer and on weekends, but this stuff is worth the wait. Excellent ice cream and sorbet, and the frites are hot, crispy perfection with a unique selection of dipping sauce. Love.

Dare I say this is some of the best ice cream I’ve had in a while? It may even be better than Salt & Straw. It’s super creamy & the owner/maker makes everything himself. He blends his own spices for the Snickerdoodle Chai. He makes his own marshmallows for the Rocky Road. We opted for the Strawberry Oreo & Hokey Pokey(their signature flavor with honeycomb candy) mixed into one scoop on a sugar cone($ 3.50). It’s so darn good. A didn’t even want ice cream & we were fighting over it. We also got some frites because we can never turn those down. We got the fry sauce(complimentary) & malt vinegar aioli($.75 extra). They were nice and thickly cut potatoes. Hot and crisp. The fry sauce had a lot of pepper, which we liked. The aioli also had a good tang. There were also old fashioned bottled sodas, whoopee pies, cookies, dipped custard bars to be had. On top of that, everyone working there were super patient and nice. This will definitely be a regular Astoria stop going forward!

Holy Grail of ice-cream shops. 100% homemade including the stuff they mix in. «Hokey poky» is sweet cream vanilla with homemade Carmel with salty little candies. So good. Very friendly staff and family owned and operated.

Easily the best ice cream I have and maybe will ever have. So rich and creamy and creative flavors that always surprise and and please me. The Cookie Cups, with their warm and gooey nature, are the perfect compliment to their delicious, lactose sins. Oh, they also offer at least one vegan flavor per day, which are awesome, even for a dairy lover like me.

THEBESTICECREAMEVER!!! DELICIOUS!!! My favorite is the Hokey Pokey! All favors are yummylicious(yes, that is a word — invented for this ice cream!) They are also super sweet about multiple tastings when you are trying to decide.

The perfect combo of sweet and salty! This is a must stop in Astoria! So many decadent hand made custards filled with natural flavors! Honeycomb candy, fresh fruits, real cake batter w/frosting…the list goes on and on. Fellow Unilocalers with their five stars drew us in, so glad we made the stop on our way back to Washington. Our kiddos chose the Cake Batter(Happy 1YR B-day to Frite & Scoop) and Chocolate Hokey Pokey. My hubby and I chose the split scoop of Lemon Pie + Hokey Pokey(highly recommend). Everything was so creamy, naturally sweetened, and full of melt in your mouth goodness. Now the frites… who could imagine a better fry. Crisp golden brown outsides, warm, soft, almost creamy center. Accompanied with all the dips you could imagine. We had a hard time choosing so the owner brought out a smörgåsbord of tasting options. The winner for us was the malt vinegar aioli, hint of garlic w/just the right saltiness. The ultimate marriage w/the frites. On top of excellent food, the service is impeccable. The co-owner is adorable and so accommodating. Thrilled that she chose to relocate from Seattle to Astoria. And love the fact that she craves ice cream and her hubby craves frites. Together they’ve made the ideal Astoria café!

Was worried that this place wouldn’t live up to the hype, but it definitely did! I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and there was a short line with a steady flow of customers. I sampled three flavors and was most impressed with the sour cream blueberry and its strong fruity flavor. Around a dozen or less flavors offered, with a good variety of classic and unique flavors. The tubs of ice cream are small, like half the size of a typical ice cream place, so I’m not surprised that flavors sell out quickly. The people working here were friendly and more than happy to hand out samples. They offer three types of cones and the $.50 extra charge for the krumcake was worth it… tasted freshly made and reminded my companion of a pancake. $ 4 for a single scoop in the krumcake cone. They also have a mini size for like $ 2, which I appreciate. Frites come in three sizes with a large selection of complimentary sauces and fancy sauces for an upcharge. I got a regular size, the smallest size, with the rosemary sea salt and North Coast Fry Sauce for $ 4. There are a few tables outside the shop and they bring the frites out to you(very short wait). Decent portion of frites and I loved the long and sturdy shape. No tiny end of batch leftovers here! Generous portion of sauce, which was tasty. Besides ice cream and frites, they have a large variety of glass bottled sodas, many which I’ve never heard of. I also saw some large cookies on display behind the counter. Love that they have a large dispenser of self-serve water(with mason jars and disposable cups)! Definite worth a visit for snack time!

We came through Astoria via cruise ship and loved exploring this little town! This place is adorable! I spoke with a man that I assume is the owner, as he talked about the process of making the ice cream himself. He gave me a sample of the Orange and told me that he used juice from oranges he squeezed himself — no orange juice from concentrate for them! And for the Brown Butter Pecan he browns an entire pound of butter and swirls it into his original custard. I chose to get two scoops — one of Strawberry Oreo and one of Hokey Pokey. Both were very sweet and very yummy!

This is a very easy review. I love to do long detailed reviews but it is not necessary this time. The service was friendly. The shop was cute. Oh, and it is the best ice cream I have ever had in my thirty five years on this planet. Hands down. The salted caramel ice cream can only be described as sultry. Update 02÷20÷16 — Homemade Honey Comb Ice Cream. This has won my heart as the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Why can’t I add a extra star? Really, this place excedes any and all expectations.

Wonderful ice cream! We were in town for the stout beer festival and decided to stop in for a treat after trying some of the Earl Grey ice cream at Baked Alaska the night before. The proprietors are wonderful people and will let you try as many samples as you’d like. The honey candy and the chocolate stout ice creams were amazing. I had to get the peanut butter cookie though, because I love peanut butter. No frites yet, they expect to have their deep fryer up and running some time next month. Next time I am back in Astoria I’ll have a decadent lunch here!
