Ordered the lamb shank platter. The lamb was cooked perfectly. It was tender and juicy and not dry. It melted in your mouth. The platter comes with rice, salad and bread. It is value for money. There was a mistake by the ordering website as prices had gone up. However the restaurant honored the website price without me having to say a word. That’s integrity. I offered to pay the balance but they wouldn’t accept. The food is delicious, the customer service is amazing and above all it is fresh food done right. Don’t think one can ask for more…

For a few dollars and change, expect a large platter with all the helpings of a shawarma. Served freshly made and to your liking.

Great spot if you craving Shawarma. When they first opened they used to use foil trays and the taste of the food was a bit on the downside, but once they changed to plastic trays there food has gone up in taste. I dont know what it was, maybe the changed flavouring too. Really great food. Only hassle is finding parking. Mix shawarma with rice is a must try.

Shawarmania is an amazing modern Egyptian to-go place. I love it for take out and delivery. The manager(Mohammed) and everyone else who works there are great guys. I recently ordered some catering from them for my birthday party and they were prompt, gave me a really good price, and the food was absolutely delicious(as usual). I recommend the chicken kebab sandwich with garlic sauce.

On the pricier side but between quality places like Truva, Zorbas, and BZ, this place really holds its own in distinct flavor for about the same value. That is to say it’s just as good but different enough to reorder from. I would say this place tastes the most like the Halal Guys but with much better ingredients.

Food is okay compared to a lot of shawarma places around the area. Good thing about it though is that the food is ALOT, but I thought it lacked flavor, both chicken and beef/lamb.

This spot is seriously awesome. I’ve been here a few times since starting to work in the area and have to say that the place seems to be pretty clean, the people working here are friendly, and the food is put together pretty quickly. The only downside is that I can think of, is that I once called in an order and arrived to have them not know that I had done so. Otherwise this is a pretty solid spot.

This place looks like a small fast food Greek place, and it is. But surprise! The food here is really good! I had the BEST falafel I’ve had in ages. Family had the lamb and beef shawarma. Excellent as well. A little Deadmaus music was a nice touch as well. Friendly service(walk up order only). Clean restroom

Having gone past this places numerous times on my visits in Astoria. I finally decided to try it out. Afterall it always smells amazing! Came in and the nice gentleman referred me and my friend to look up at the menu on the wall because it has more than the paper menu. I ordered the lamb and beef platter. I wasnt sure where to pick bc i looked at Unilocal for help there. There was so much from this plate i couldnt finish. The recipe amazing. Loved the tzatziki sauce and tahini. Not a fan of the spicy sauce! The meat was good but was so chopped up i couldnt tell which was which. But it was good! Next time i think ill try chicken or just plain or whichever meat i am feeling! Before i could ask for a bag to go from sitting down and eating the nice gentleman had the bag ready for me and even opened it! It was done beautifully like a man holding the door for a lady just a really sweet gesture!

Another Asotria-ite recommended Shawarmania to me, but it took me a while to try this place out. The last two businesses that had inhabited this space didn’t last long. I doubted this one would either, but it stayed, so finally I visited and I’ve been purchasing my Chicken Shawarma from here ever since. They definitely blow street vendor halals out of the water & their large platters(~11) can feed 2. They took down the sign for it, but ask for their special lamb shank. It’s insanely cheap for a large platter, $ 10. This dish only comes in large because of the size of the lamb shank. The rice in this dish seems to be cooked differently than their shawarma rice; it’s so moist and flavorful, I suspect the juices from the lamb shank go into this. And the meat on the lamb shank is fall-off– the-bone tender. When they first started serving this perhaps too much juice was rendered off, but the last time I got this the lamb meat was perfectly flavored. I can taste the cardamom in this. Get their shawarma, either the chicken or their beef and lamb. It’s their specialty; their kebabs(overcooked and dry) don’t properly represent this place. I can also recommend their falafel, babaganosh and hummus– but the last two sides come in a 4 oz. container for $ 2.50. A bit pricy in my opinion, when Sabaro’s costs around $ 1.60 for the same amount. But, it’s freshly made and sometimes I’m just craving a good babaganosh. I usually come here to pick up. Their Macdonald’s-like(yellow, orange and red walls, florescent lighting, Formica tables and plastic Ikea-like chairs) décor doesn’t really lend itself to date-night. Their servers have always been really friendly. It almost makes the New Yorker in me skeptical, «whatcha smilin’ at? What do you want from me?» I’ve ordered delivery as well and for the most part been satisfied. They only messed up my order once– so now when I pick up I double check. My husband also likes to order the Philly Cheese Schwarma Pita($ 7). The food doesn’t taste overly salted, but we usually wake up thirsty in the middle of the night, so drink plenty of water when ordering from here.

I ordered a lamb and beef shawarma pita and a kofta pita, hummus and pita, falafel, and snapple — FORDELIVERY. Through Seamless, it says that delivery time is 30 – 45 minutes. After waiting for 45 minutes, I called the restaurant only to have them tell me that the delivery guy just left. It then took another 25 minutes to receive my food. The food was cold, soggy, and unflavorful. My falafel was soggy, the pita was soggy, and the meat cold and unflavorful. I also ordered a raspberry and peach iced tea snapple, but received 2 fruit punch snapples. I’m never ordering delivery from here again.

My favorite place in the hood! This is a great spot for nice traditional Mediterranean bight. My favorite are chicken shawarma sandwich $ 5.50. It is a fresh pita bread full of freshly made chicken staffed with beautiful Eastern spices. Reach and well balanced. Not spicy not salty — just great! To compare: same amount of food would makes 3 tacos at $ 3/each at the food truck, but this place has A from health department, which means certified clean. The lamb and beef shawarma plate is my 2nd favorite. There is flame roasted meat, salad, rice, side of house made spicy sous and tahini, and pita bread. It is a lot of food that fills up me and my girlfriend easy! $ 12.99

So far, I’ve had the chicken shawarma and the chicken kebab on whole wheat wrap versus the pita. The chicken was juicy, moist, tender and plentiful. The chicken kebab is quickly turning into one of my faves. It’s a local joint if you’re looking for something fast and tasty and reasonably priced. Eating in is fine but I prefer take-out. Thanks Mohamed!

Shwarmania advertises amazing discounts for lunch specials. $ 15 will get you a small plate, so I recommend getting a few. I sometimes just get a pack of pitas from the deli next door because there’s 8 in a pack but cost the same as a single at shwarmania! But who’s counting, lol! Had a long day at the office? Get ready to get off the train and have club music blasting in your ears. Nothing like dance music to sooth your soul. I don’t think shwarmania was as excited as I was to see the«No flyer or menus» posted on my front door :/Some how each floor of my building had stacks of menus strewn about on each floor! Maybe someone in my building works there! I will definitely be back every time I ride the train.

This place was great! I was really wanting to eat some good Arabic/Mediterranean food but did not care to go a very traditional place. Meaning I really didn’t want to hear arabic music and have hookahs all around me while eating. This place was the answer. The portions are generous and the staff is as friendly as they get. I a not in the east coast often, but next time I am I will be back here. Oh ya and it kicks the halal guy’ ass

This shawarma joint is located right underneath the subway and a 5-minute walk from me, but to be honest, I wouldn’t have come in if not for my friend who’s obsessed with halal food. Now whenever he comes up to visit he insists that we go here, because Shawarmania does not disappoint. It’s cheap and fucking delicious. Highly recommend the chicken shawarma. A pita would fill me up and it’s only, what, 6 – 7 bucks. re: the sauces, the standard white sauce they put in is the garlic sauce. You can ask for hot sauce, which goes really well with the garlic sauce. I didn’t think it was that hot but it gave me a heartburn afterwards; touché, Shawarmania, touché. They also have tzatziki sauce which is reaaallly heavy but really good. There’s a bit of wait for the food, but the staff are friendly and there’s a TV in the back to keep you preoccupied as you wait.

Came here on a Tuesday night after King of Falafel and Shawarma ran out of Shawarma, and that’s what I was craving. Frustrated, I scanned through Grubhub for Shawarma, and Shawarmania caught my eye. Placed an order for a platter and a regular shawarma in a pita. 15 mins later my food was ready. The fries weren’t the best, just plain olé fries. But, the shawarma was pretty good. I enjoyed it, and so did my girlfriend. It’s not the best shawarma by any means, but it was a good experience and satisfied my craving.

I’ve been on a middle eastern kick lately and the beef kebab platter was enough food to feed a small army and delicious. The beef kebab takes longer than carving schwarma off a spit, so they warned me when ordering it would take about 10 minutes, which was fine. Then they also kept me up to date about how much longer it’d be(it took the promised 10 — not some absurdly long time hah) The pita was weirdly fluffy, but not bad. I didn’t touch the hot sauce but the tahini and the white sauce(not gonna butcher the spelling on it) were awesome. I’ll come back inevitably on one of my photography adventures
