Worst takeout ever ! Wasted money that went into the trash. Greasy, was that even chicken? Even the rice wasn’t good … How do you mess up white rice?

This place seemed like it could’ve been cleaner and the food was very greasy and not very good. I would not recommend this place, there’s much better options to eat at in Astoria

Live down the block from here and I never order anything but white rice from this location. Not crazy about anything I have ever tried.

a few years ago the food was good. not any more. tried baby shrimp and shrimp fried rice. the baby shrimp was mostly breading and really hard to chew.(so it was not fresh) the fried rice was tasteless, i was very unhappy because it was not cheap. read the reviews. most of them are really old.

Realistically, this is an ordinary Chinese food(American Chinese food) place with ok cheap food. HOWEVER this place has some of the best dumplings EVER. EVER. Mostly the fried pork dumplings. HOLYJESUSTHEFRIEDPORKDUMPLINGS. My boyfriend lives extremely close to this place and we have had pork dumplings three times this week. Whatever,…maybe that’s too many dumplings, but they’re amazing.

This place is my last choice for Chinese food in this area. The inside is gross, the woman who works the counter is rude, and the last two times I’ve gotten spring rolls from here they’ve had rogue shrimp in them, so vegetarians beware. And the food just isn’t that great. Try King Garden instead.

Taste of China may not be the cleanest of restaurants, but their food is darn good for those days when you just can’t be bothered cooking and crave a salty, cheap meal. I used to order the chicken and broccoli and wonton soup, and I liked them! I most recently ordered a vegetable roll and broccoli w/bean curd. Total price for both = $ 5.60. The vegetable roll was your basic roll with everything but the pork, so I was very happy. The broccoli and tofu(let’s face it — bean curd doesn’t sound appetizing) was great. The sauce tasted like the chicken w/broccoli sauce, which I missed so dearly; the broccoli was plentiful and tender without being mushy; and the tofu, while a bit lacking in flavor, was cooked perfectly. It pretty much has the frugality factor, the taste factor, and the vegetarian factor — a/k/a Carissa’s dining hat trick!

Okay. These guys suck. Here’s why. So I head in tonight around like 1030 to pick up a quart of soup for dinner. Now, usually when I go in here a quart of soup is 3.25 and a soda is 1.00. And that’s what I got, and my total was 4.75. The prices are always different here from day-to-day and they’re not always what’s posted and/or what’s on the menu, and they say everything’s MSG-free but have giant drums visible behind the counter that have«monosodium glutamate» stamped on them, so I’m not too sure what’s up with that. But all of that has nothing to do with why I’m writing this. See, when I got home, and went to set my bag with the food down(to then, you know, get ready to eat it), the container basically exploded. Apparently the guy didn’t put the lid on well, because everything was otherwise intact. But I went from, «Okay, going to eat now,» to «Why is it burning and dammit!?» Did I mention I had no shirt on? Because it’s the summer and it’s New York and it’s hot and I was home for the night? Yeah. So that. So I’m sitting down to eat my soup and get scalded with a quart of steaming chicken stock from the top of my stomach to my knees. There is a pronounced red line down the middle of my chest where you could easily reconstruct the splash pattern if you had some kind of Dexter-like skills when it comes to people being scalded. So, I’m dripping a quart of steaming chicken stock down the entire front of me. Thankfully, I had on shorts, so mainly what got burned was just my chest and my knees. I say luckily because the shorts meant that the twig and berries were largely spared. Did I mention I’m moving in a couple days? Which is why I was buying soup for dinner at 1030 at night on a Friday? Yeah. I’m moving in a couple days. So, on top of being scalded and having dinner pretty much ruined(and having to soak my clothes tonight and do laundry first thing tomorrow now) I also am going to have to rewash the floors which were already done. I’m also going to have to buy toilet paper and paper towels because I had to use all the ones I still had(not stocked up because I know I’m moving) cleaning the broth up from myself, the floor, my computer desk, my laptop, my cat, and some really important paperwork pertaining to the move.(Like five-figures kind of paperwork — that you only get one of). You get the idea. So now I officially hate these guys. I understand that it wasn’t intentional. I get that. But when you overpay to not eat dinner and get scalded and have to clean your house — well, I kind of take issue with that. Guys, I get it. Your job sucks. And it’s a high-stress job and you’re in a hurry. But when you’re serving people frickin steaming things, take the time to put the damn lid on right. Most people probably would try to sue you for this. Avoid at all costs.

GREATSTUFF. This is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. American Chinese food AKA Crab rangoons, fried chicken etc. After stomaching the chinese joint a few steps from my door, I finally put my foot down. My boyfriend has an obsessive taste for Chinese food. I would not, NOT order from the disgusting place one more time. I don’t even know the name of it. So looking up places near by I found this one with high ratings. Totally TRUE. I ordered the sesame chicken with crab rangoon and rice. Boyfriend ordered double fried pork with beef lo mein. Mine was awesome. I realized after eating how low my standards had dropped. The chicken was tender, drenched in a flavorful dressing and the rice, EVEN the rice was a 100 x better than what I’m used to. They weren’t hard pebbles I had to crunch on. It was moist and great. While I really didn’t expect double fried pork not to be fried(I think they messed up the order) but no matter. He enjoyed the veggies and the seasoning and the pork.

For what this place is for me, a hangover helper, this is good chinese food. This place is clean and the dishes are flavorful. The General Tso’s has more chicken than it does fried batter which makes me happy. The egg rolls are great! If you live by, are hungover, try it out!

Alright. I just ordered for pickup from Taste of China and I went with the reviews to order General Tso’s. I also ordered my favorite Chinese soup. any guesses. yeah ‘Hot n Sour’. Now, the verdict: General Tso’s: I’ve had way better G Tso’s chicken. All I can agree to is tht the chicken was tender. The broccoli with G Tso’s was clearly NOTFRESH at all. I took a bite and spitted it out. the rest of the broccoli was enjoyed by my trash can. The only reason I give 3 stars is for the bang for da buck. I ordered a small portion for about $ 5.75 or something(good for 1 person) and Brown Rice. –Remember, this is dinner portion from Chef Specials. Hot n Sour soup: For $ 2.25, I wud not recommend it. I’ve had so much better Hot n Sour soups for under $ 2. Crackers: One of the best. Not greasy at all. Definitely not the reason you should order. he he. Service: Sucks. I was ordering on phone and the lady on da other side was talking as if she was busy as Hell. When I reached for my pickup, they only had 1 table of 4 and 1 girl waiting for her pickup. But, that’s something I’ve seen with almost all Chinese people. Somehow, Chinese people don’t like giving respect or basic courtesy. No Offense folks, I’ve a couple of real cool Chinese friends too .Smile along :o)) Verdict: «Order for Bang for da Buck, not for the taste.»

Cheap tasty fast take-out Chinese food. I got the chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce, and the broccoli in garlic sauce(the menu said these were spicy, definitely not spicy at all. If you think these are spicy then you have the world’s most sensitive palate). The chicken was nice and tender(all white meat). The vegetables were tender, but not mushy. I’ll definitely order from here again.

this is my fist time ‘ordering chinese delivery’ here in Astoria(lazy day). the delivery time was quick, and the order was correct, though they didnt mention i would get some free sodas, if i knew this i would have asked for either orange or grape(of course). though we ordered a few items, for some reason was most excited about the egg roll, as i havent had one of those in a while… i’d order again, but will also try some other spots too, as this place didnt ‘lock me down’ just yet.

This place is one of the better take-out/delivery Chinese American places in Astoria. Yeah… sometimes they are inconsistent but I’ve never got sick eating from this place and the basic dishes are good — i.e.: General Tso’s Chicken Lo Mein Chicken with Broccoli/StringBeans Shrimp with Lobster Sauce Soups & Eggroll Fried chicken wings Don’t try to get anything on their menu that sound like«real» Chinese food — big mistake! I ordered their Seafood Pan Fried Noodle and another eggplant dish — they were just disaster. I think they’re cash only but definitely try their lunch specials. Great deal and pretty fast delivery.

When I first moved to Queens, this used to be my spot for Chinese, then i found the King Garden on 34th ave, which was cheaper. Tonight I decided to get Taste of China again, one last time before I reviewed. I love sweet and sour chicken. I will say that the chicken is good, the portions are very generous, but the sauce is my peeve. Sweet and sour sauce is a fine delicacy, too runny and you turn my dinner into a soup, too thick and it becomes a coating that turns my rice and chicken into a sweets dish. Tonight, was runny. I don’t know if it was watered down, or if it is always like this but when i was done with my rice and chicken, the bottom of my bowl looked like left over cereal. The only redeeming factor was the delicious egg roll. Maybe next time I will go with General Tso’s.

This is some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The selection is typical chinese fare — general whatsit and kung pao meat, rice, seafood, etc. I’ve had the orange chicken and general tso’s, both are extremely delicious. The meat is not questionable or chewy, and the sauces are tasty rather than sickly. If you order a certain amount(price wise) of food, you get a various free offer — egg roll, soda, order of general tso, etc. The food is cheap, tasty and plentiful. The kitchen seemed to be pretty clean, even. If you don’t feel like take out, there is some seating in the restaurant — enough for a large family.

Lately i’ve been trying too hard to make my reviews interesting. I’m going to be all business and get back to my roots. The best Chinese in Queens. I don’t mean best food from China– best American Chinese food in Queens, and as of this point I’m going to say best in the whole city. it’s really good. They have a good selection of well prepared foods. All of your favorites. If you order over 30 dollars you get a FREE8 dollar order of general tso’s with your order. The egg rolls are delicious and do not have any weird tastes from the other things in the fryer. They’re also quick and friendly. It’s inexpensive as well, and the interior is nice. So nice that you wouldn’t be ashamed to eat inside the restaurant, and every time I’ve been there– there is someone eating inside. This place is good, really good and worth your time if you have a craving for American-Chinese food.

This is a really, really great place in Astoria to go for take out. It’s really great because it’s right off the RGV stop so it’s really easy to pick stuff up if you get off at 46th Street(which I currently do, but won’t for much longer). They are very quick and it’s not pricey at all. It’s also not as greasy as lots of other take out places are. Oh and they also redid their entire interior in only two days. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me.
