Got food poisoning from Chicken. Now I understand why the health department closed them down several months ago. When I brought it to the managers attention days later, I was offered a discounted future meal to make up for the 2 days I spent at home sick as a dog. Not only is it not safe to eat there but the customer service is the worst I’ve personally experienced to date. Needless to say we won’t ever be back.

The neighborhood is suffering from lack of taste and restaurants. This place fits the bill. Terrible food, constant turnover of employees doesn’t equal a place worth visiting. I understand there are not many choices closer, but this is just a place to avoid for us.

This is my family’s go to restaurant on nights when I didn’t plan a meal. My son loves the pizza, and my husband and I love the drink selection. The stuffed avocado is really good, and more than enough for 2 meals. We all love the green sauce and the bonus ice cream at the end saves our son from begging us to stop at the froyo place.

This place is right around the corner from our house, so naturally it took a year for us to try it. The staff was friendly, our waiter was great, and the place is comfortable and clean. I had their nachos, which although fried flour tortilla chips are a cool way to change things up — they get soggy before the plate reaches the table: no stars. I also had their lizard wings, which unfortunately since I was sober weren’t very good due to the thick fatty skin left under the breading. My wife had a chicken burrito, which she enjoyed, but again — needs some work. With so much competition around the area for burritos, this one rated about two stars. The three star rating is for the wait staff and the fact that the beer was nice and cold!

My wife and really like this place, and it has become our overall go to restaurant. They have great queso, margaritas, and chips. I can’t say that I love the salsa, but that seems to be the case with every restaurant in the area. I do love their entries and have not had a bad one yet. I’m a huge fan of their menu and they have a nice variety of dishes. The wait staff has always been great and they have an ice cream machine that actually has good ice cream — which is nice because you can have dessert without having to pay extra. Anyway, I am a fan and will keep going here. I have been to this restaurant about ten times and have considered just going through the entire menu. This is the first restaurant in the triumvirate!

Decent Mexican food if you can’t go to Lupe up the road. The wait staff is hit or miss on service. Needs a much better selection of craft beers.

Ahhh, the notorious Atascocita Iguana Joe’s. I’ve been here a lot and not once got poisoned like others say but I know that it did happen to a few people due to chicken being stored at the wrong temperature. I like to eat at the bar because the floor servers have been sub-par on more than one occasion. The food has always been awesome and the chips and salsas(red & green) are great. Margaritas have always been fantastic but for some reason, the past couple of times they have given me a bitchin’ headache afterwards. Not sure if they are using cheaper tequila now but I shall inquire.

It was our first time there but we will be back. We were seated quickly. The food was above average. They had a lot of choices on the menu. I do wish they would have had an additional choice or two for kids. The chips and salsa was good. Our entrees were not only good but also came out quickly and VERYHOT !! For sure they get bonus points for actually serving hot food… HOT!(Far too many restaurants send food out that is warm at best). The waiter provided decent service. They have FREE ice cream… I was so full from my entrée I didn’t have any but my son did. The dishes were cleared as we finished and the price was reasonable. The restaurant was pretty clean. It may not be «authentic» but since I am not a native of Mexico… Tex-Mex is close enough for me. We will be trying this location again.

Service is good, but that’s it. The place needs a deep cleaning and why do they allow smoking in the bar?

We went for dinner. The food was above average. The service was excellent. Our food almost came out too quickly but you can’t really complain about that I guess. We will return for sure.

First time here with hubby! Food was delicious! The sauces for the chips were not over powering! I had the Cancun Chicken, with refried beans, rice and avocado slices. Everything was tasty! Service was quick and friendly! Atmosphere was welcoming and the background music was just that, background!

Its on par with other Iguana Joe’s locations… The food is OK, just not good enough for a 5 star. My wife likes the place a lot, but to me it is just OK…

Love everything about this place. The food is good, especially the queso! They have great specials like draft beer for $ 2.50. Tonight I had carne guesada, so good.

Went there tonight and service was horrible. The waiter took 15 minutes to even come to our table for drink orders. He only had 2 other tables working. We had to ask for water. He managed to take our appetizer order when we got our drinks. That was literally the last time we saw him. After 25 minutes, our dinner order still not taken, I asked the chip lady to bring the manager. I could see our waiter talking with friends in a booth the entire time. I told the manager what terrible service, actually no service, and his reply was«Sorry, I will speak with him.» I told him to get my check, charged me $ 22 for 2 drinks and an appetizer, and we left. I had to leave with no dinner, WILLNEVERGOBACKTOTHATPLACEAGAIN. I WILLALSOSPREADMYNEGATIVEEXPERIENCEEVERYCHANCE I GET.

We are there for the last time last year. Two out of the four of us got food poisoning after eating the chicken. I was pregnant and not very hungry so thank god I only had chips and quest and luckily did not get sick like my two friends. We have not been back since because we are too afraid.

Food was good, the waitress got our order wrong and told us to keep the extra food.(One fajita taco) and they’d take it off our check. We gave the taco to a friend in our party and still got charged for it because her manager said if it had been eaten then they’ll charge. So I got charged for a taco I tried to give back.

I go to Iguana Joe’s a lot when in Houston because it’s close to where I stay. There’s always a lot of people, and it’s reassuring. The restaurant itself is okay looking inside. I haven’t seen torn tissue or broken chairs. The service is okay, not outstanding in any way, but the servers are busy every time I’m there. The food is okay, and pretty generic tex mex. The salsa too.

Today, I told myself, «Let’s live on the edge.» So, in death-defying fervor, I ate at Iguana Joes, best known for poisoning a dozen or two people a while back. First off, I came after 5pm on a Thursday evening. To say the least, they have not recovered from their temporary closing. My wife and I sat in a room with eleven empty tables. To be fair, one of the other tables was occupied by three employees on their cell phones. On the plus side, I got a great parking spot! My wife ordered a plate called the Deluxe Dinner. Talk about fast service. That plate was out in a suspicious two minutes. On a scale of 1 – 10, she rated it a 6. It was a ton of food, though. I ordered Joe’s Big Burrito. I’d give it about the same, but it’s a huge 12″ burrito. The service was sub-par, at best. Rude, at worst. Which is surprising, considering the amount of customers there. You’d think we’d all be treated pretty well. I can’t recommend living on the edge like I did. Look for my obituary tomorrow. I’ll have them title it, «Updated Unilocal Review.»

Personally one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The steak is quite tender and juicy, but I always order the mixed fajitas whenever I go here — so I can’t speak of to the quality of the whole menu. Moderately high quality for low price, service is good, and food is fast. Everyone I talk to likes Lupe Tortilla better, but I think this place offers more traditional Tex Mex food. The negatives are as follows: 1) Place was temporarily shut down for food poisoning recently, however, they reinvented themselves and hired new staff 2) The chips come with this mysterious green sauce that I think is an attempt at guacamole or avocado dip, but it tastes just like sour cream 3) Whenever we order the queso, it’s always brought out with the entrees; however, it should come before because it’s an appetizer
