Dawa

I think it’s about time I give this place a review. I’ve only ever ordered delivery from Dawa, but every time has been a positive experience. The delivery is consistently fast and the food is hot. The staff is also very friendly. The only time I’ve ever had an issue with them, the fault was on GrubHub and not Dawa. Plus, Dawa more than made up for it by throwing in a couple drinks and an app for our trouble.
My favorite dish is the Thai chicken panang curry and my boyfriend loves their kimchi soup. I’ve tried quite a few dishes from Dawa and they’re definitely better than most cheap Chinese delivery places around here.
This place is definitely my go to for delivery Chinese. Fast and good quality service for cheap prices. I don’t really understand some of the low reviews on here because I have never had any of the experiences people are describing. If you’re expecting gourmet Chinese then you’re already setting yourself up for disappointment because that’s not what this is. You don’t order a burger from McDonald’s and then be upset that it wasn’t as good as H&F burger. This is cheap Chinese food delivered fast and sometimes that’s all you need.

Worst food and customer service ever. Frozen and uncooked food delivered way late.
My order came 3 hours after the delivery time they expected it to have (30 min). Had to call them about it after it had passed the expected delivery time, the guy on the phone told me he never checks his computer for online orders. (What?). Still didn’t show up after their new predicted time so had to call again, to which I was told it was about to be out for delivery. The food didn’t show up until an additional 45 minutes after that. When the food was delivered it was terrible. The food, all $ 60 worth, was burnt on the outside, had no sauce, and was frozen on the inside. Not to mention they flat out forgot some of my order.
When we called and complained about the quality of the food and missing items they offered us a 15% off coupon for the next time. (Which already comes customary on their menus they include with your food).
I only ordered here for the convenience of delivery, and ignored the other reviews. I will never order from here again. I’d rather get in my car to pick up food than have this gross place just because they deliver. Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Terrible customer service.

Great, interesting place to go late night. Super nice and Yummy Chinese food made fresh. Family owned!

So I don’t know if they recently moved or what but their current location sucks. I actually picked up my food instead of the delivery option this time and I couldn’t believe my eyes. This place in no means looks like food should be cooked out of there! I hate to be rude but I’m scared to even go back there. It was hard to find and it actually looks like a house on the outside but on the inside it looks like a sweat shop. The food was decent but now that I know where it’s coming from… I think that was my last time.

I ordered two burgers with shrimp and bacon. The bacon not on either burger. It was on the side hard crisp look like out was two weeks old. I wanted o.j. the burgers not in a cup. The manager only wanted to credit back the bacon. The delivery was typo long. Spare yourself and family. Don’t order from this bs of a restaurant. Tell everyone don’t do it!

Refused to deliver to my location in Lakewood Heights after doing so many times. They claim it’s because of crime rates, but what it amounts to is redlining. They are selecting certain communities not to serve. After speaking with the owner and managers, they have done nothing except disrespect me and hang up on me. I was very offended by their hostile demeanor.
The food is mediocre at best, and I never knew a Chinese spot could come with so much drama. The one item that I ordered were their chicken wings, which we’re delicious barring a few times when they were delivered cold.
If you like this place, good for you. But as a patron of this business, my experience has been horrendous. They are advertise for delivery in my area on both Unilocal and GrubHub, but after you order they will promptly cancel it and process a refund in about a week. SMH.

I’m usually a very generous person but I honestly couldn’t get myself to give this place more than one star. The food by itself would have gotten a 3 star because the beef fried rice was pretty good but my friend ordered the sweet sour chicken bento box and was very disappointed because the chicken was hard and the sauce was more sweet than sour and very watery. She calls it the «stone» bento box because of how hard and overly crispy the chicken is. It also came with white rice, a spring roll, and snow peas (which she was not a fan of) so I had to share my beef fried rice with her.
The 1 star comes from the customer service. Me and my roommate just ordered from this place like an hour ago. At first when the food was delivered, my roommate went to get it because I was in my room. I was getting ready to get the cash to take it to her but when I got there she said the lady had already left. My friend didn’t know that I was going to use cash. Since the lady left right away, she thought I used my card. She told me that the lady didn’t say a word to her and didn’t even reply her at all, she just gave her the food and left which I thought was very weird. I figured she would probably come back once she realizes that she didn’t get her money. Ten minutes after we started eating she came back and obnoxiously knocked on the door. I took the cash and went out to meet her and I asked if there was a mistake somewhere but she SNATCHED the money out of my hand without saying one word and left! Her facial expression was as if I was the one at fault when SHE was the one who forgot to take her money. That was the first time I’ve ever experienced that from a delivery so I felt like that was extremely rude. I’ve experienced unfriendly customer service before but not one who straight out IGNORES you like you are nobody when you talk to them. Well they just lost a potential customer because that was the very first and LAST time we are ever going to order from that place.

I sent out to all 17 neighborhoods about how horrible the service is at this restaurant. Almost every neighbor agreed that they had called Dawa and was told they don’t deliver to the East Atlanta Village which is like 4 miles away. Every person who tried to order delivery reported that the employee on the phone was rude and hung up on the would be customer. Some people say they are under new management… If they are. Dawa you have lost every potential customer in 17 neighborhoods. If you don’t believe me go to the Nextdoor app for the EAV community and you will see all the negative comments about other people who called and were treated rudely. Go to Burger Win or another Chinese place because Dawa’s food has gone to poop since new management. I tried to contact the manager and she did not return my email. Dawa you suck was the consensus of all the neighbors who you stopped delivering too after doing so for years. You have lost tons of customers. I hope you realize when a potential customer calls you don’t need to be rude and hang up on them.
Go to a real Chinese restaurant because Dawa is a joke!

This place can definitely be a homerun or a foul ball. Their food is decent, typical Hunan style Chinese, and their menu has a little something for everyone. Their customer service is a totally different subject and from the looks of the reviews on here, needs to improve. I usually order their 2 sushi special and have really never gone wrong. The Yami yami cooked sushi roll, and tempura shrimp are always on point. I also like that there delivery minimum is $ 12 instead of the standard $ 20 at most delivery restaurants.

Order took almost 2 hours to get here on a late Wednesday night. Ordered wings and their Cajun fries because I couldn’t find any other wing options for delivery open and I was craving them. They were so small and bland. The Cajun fries were terrible. They were soggy and barely warm. It seems like they just used some kind of Cajun powder on them and skipped salt or anything else. Won’t order from them again.

For take out this place is great. What does it take to get 5 stars? Who knows with some of you entitled people. It is take out and good take out. Delivery is with in the time the show on the app. I have been called when they will be late. Great place for what it is. Of course some people expect 5 star quality for 8 dollar sweet and sour, but that is some people’s kids for ya.

I don’t understand why people are complaining about the delivery time. For me, as a customer I do understand there is a bad and good days, and I guess I ordered my food on a good day or maybe a slow day lol because my food delivered to me super fast and the food was fresh!

I was skeptical to order from here, seeing that there were so many negative reviews. I decided to bite the bullet and order anyway because delivery is very scarce in my part of town and this was the only chinese restaurant that was available and delivered. By my surprise, the food is really good! Today I ordered my food and it arrived a little less than half an hour. I’m not one to order fried rice because a lot of restaurants don’t make it to my liking but this place is very delicious. Don’t listen to the other reviews. It’s all crap. I’ve ordered twice from here already and so far they haven’t let me down. They also gave me a free soup and wrote happy holidays. That was sweet!

The family ordered takeout — one burger (dry and tasteless), one order of chicken wings that were scrawny and with not enough sauce, the fries were just like those you’d find in a college or hospital cafeteria, the General Tso’s chicken was dreadful. It was really not good I’m sorry to say. We are looking for good Chinese delivery and this is not it.

I ordered from Dawa last night and it took 2 hours for them to deliver it. I placed my order last night at 8pm and it arrived a little after 10pm, COLD. The delivery driver didn’t even come up to the house, rather just opened her door and handed it to me. The food seemed to have sat in the back of a car for far too long as everything felt rubbery. It looks like their online orders funnel through Eat24, so I first contected them once the 1 hour point passed, they contacted the restaurant Dawa who told them it would be at the house in 10 minutes. At 9:40 I contacted Dawa to locate my food, since I was informed it was their own driver delivering it. I was told the delivery driver was down the street. A couple minutes after 10 the food arrived and I was too ticked off to call and complain but my business will go elsewhere in the future.

They have completely changed their menu! I am devastated!!! :(it is not nearly as good and delivery takes a long time. Why would they do this to me? Did someone buy it? If so… then change the freaking name cause as far as I’m concerned it is a completely different place. All these years trying to find a good Chinese place was all a waste! I miss the old Dawa.

Ordered last night through Grubhub. Food was great, plenty of veggies, good beef. Delivered in time. 5 stars! :)

They lost my order, so it took two and a half hours to get my food. They would not give me a discount.

Came to GA to visit my relatives and saw this restaurant that had a similar name to me. So I thought to myself, why not? I went in and the ambiance was very authentic. I ordered the Orange chicken and to my surprise it was tasty and there was no msg in the sauce as I am allergic to msg. Overall a nice restaurant and I would recommend anyone who is craving Chinese food.

Only getting 3 stars because of customer service– I got a refund for the otherwise poor service.
I placed an order through grubhub at around 8:45 the other night, was expecting my food to be delivered between 9:48 — 9:55…
Around 10:20, I was pretty much done waiting so I had to give them a call. I wanted to be fair, and told myself there might be traffic what with AWA (Animé Convention) and the Andre 3000 concert going on, but naaaaaah.
The delivery driver had only just left about 15 minutes ago according to the lady I spoke with on the phone. I wanted to give a different place a try, but this delivery is just not the business for me. I’ll stick to what I know.
The lady I spoke to on the phone was polite and gave me a refund, so for that I’ll give them 3 stars for at least trying to fix the problem– PLUS, the food isn’t bad (albeit a bit cold… but nothing my microwave can’t fix), it was alright.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever order again… I might, perhaps I’ll just pick it up next time.
