I ordered a chicken quesadilla, but let the waiter know that I had a shellfish allergy. He told me it didn’t matter because I ordered a chicken dish. I told him that I was fully aware of that, but to let the kitchen know as they have shrimp on the menu. He told me there was no need as I ordered chicken, not fish. He was so rude about it, I was scared to eat it and ended up giving it to my friend. Allergies are no joke. If you or your children have an allergy, don’t expect them to take any extra precautions in preparing your food. This was my first time going there since it was El Azteca and I will never go back.

I’ve ordered the chicken chimi a few times, and it is always enjoyable and a good value.

We were seated right away, which is a pulse. Ordered margarita, which was on point. food was pretty good, but nothing extraordinary that I haven’t tried before. Good place to go if you’re looking for an affordable place to eat and drink. solid three star for me. would come back once a while

Cheap Mexican food? What are people complaining about?! I love it here! Great location, yummy food, and good service. Plus, their margaritas aren’t too shabby.

I drive by all the time and was hoping to like it but the food quality just isnt good. I went for lunch today and ordered 2 dishes, the Speedy Gonzales, and lunch special #3. The ground beef was ground very fine, and was tasteless. The cheese«product» is that same industrial fake cheese that so many Mexican places use in Atlanta. It has a horrible taste. The refrieds were rather liquid and just not good. Mexican restaurants in Atlanta overall are not very good and this one isn’t even close to average. The server was good, but the food just wasnt. This place would never make it in Mexico or any border or western state. Unfortunately we just dont have much or any good Mexican here and so these places hang on. I will post a pic of a canned«cheese like» product that is something like they use here and at so many places. There are many brands and I have no idea which they use but it tastes similar to so many others. Would be nice to get a real clock of cheese and actually shred it and use it, but guess Im only dreaming. Those days are for the most part long gone.

Typical American Tex-Mex crap that either has zero flavor or has so much spice that you drink 10 cups of water to cool your burning throat. The service was ok I guess. Not very attentive. The prices were ridiculous for what you received. I ordered the fajita chimichanga and it was the smallest one I have ever seen and also the most I have ever paid as well. Not a great combination. Overall I was displeased. Crappy Tex-Mex that was way too expensive for the portion sizes. We will definitely not be back.

El Ponce was a great choice for yummy, but affordable, Mexican. My friend’s carnitas was tender and flavorful. I got the enchiladas supreme. The chicken was especially good – it was shredded in fairly large chunks. Atmosphere was good – what you would expect. There’s a huge patio with lots of seats. Not a great view, since it just overlooks Ponce, but not a bad place to sit on a nice day, I bet.

Pretty basic Mexican food. Nothing amazing but definitely not terrible. I would go back but the margaritas were pretty weak. Tasted just like too much sour mix.

I was out on Sunday with a party of 3 other individuals. 1 is a director at a hospital, 1 is a manager at his company, 1 is a software sales executive and then there was me, a federal government employee. We all make great money, are great tippers and would have easily covered any charges incurred. My friends were attempting to help me clear my mind of the pain of losing a very young, very dear relative in a car accident just a few hours before my freinds made the tragically unfortunate decision for us to go to this rotten little hole in the wall. This place would have N-E-V-E-R been my choice based on past experiences I had when visiting this cesspool when it was operated under a different name a few years ago. At THAT time I vowed to never spend my hard earned dollars at this health hazard masquerading as a restaurant again BUT when my friends decided that this is where they wanted to go, I tried to warn them but I went with the pack(and against my better judgment.) Well my party walked in but we were NOT greeted or even acknowledged and completely ignored by management and wait staff, mind you it was a slow day with ONLY about 7 people in the entire restaurant and most of them had already been served, strike # 1! Being proactive, we went ahead seated ourselves(strike #2), grabbed a few menus that were sitting around to expedite the process should a waiter decide to show up and do their f@#king job(which of course they never did… strike # 3). Mind you there were STILL only about 7 or 8 customers present. 3 minutes pass…5 minutes pass…10 minutes pass; NOSERVER!(strikes 4, 5 and 6). After wasting 15 minutes of our very valuable time, we all got up, walked out and went to a muuuuuuuuuch better Mexican restaurant by the name of Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina located at 2641 Buford Highway, Atlanta, Ga. 30324 My word of mouth referral goes as follows; the next time you get a craving for some great, authentic Mexican food and excellent service do yourself a favor; bypass the overpriced, ratchet, poor customer service you will undoubtedly receive at that low budget El Ponce and make the short trip to Pancho’s on Buford Highway, you will be glad that you did and you will never look at El Ponce In the same light again! The ONLY reason why this place received 1 star is because I couldn’t give it a negative 10… AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOSTS and go to Pancho’s instead! You will be glad that you did…

This will always be my go to chill spot as long as the weather is nice. The drinks are always potent and on point. After always going there for drinks I finally ordered food on my last visit on Saturday and I was definitely missing out. I ordered the chicken taco’s and yellow rice. The food is great. If you are looking for a nice spot to hang up and take in the weather, this is the place to be.

We only got as far as the chips & salsa. We sat for a little over 15 min & no one came to check on us. We finally got the person’s attention who walked by us to bus a table. He looked at me then looked away(not exaggerating). By that time I wanted a manager. I spoke with 2 employees who told me they did not have a manager that I could file a complaint with. We walked out. Terrible service.

Somewhat typical Mexican place to me. Yes, I’m all for a patio, but not during rush hour on Ponce, so we opted to sit inside. I failed to take a pic of our meals, I had the superior chicken taco and my husband a chicken burrito. I’d say the food is not bad, pretty straight forward. Not healthy obviously, but certainly flavorful. I liked my chicken taco. I actually didn’t like their Margs, much too sweet. But our service was good, checked on us several times, and we seemed to understand each other.(I asked for a very large quantities of limes to cut the sweetness of my margarita, which he brought out happily) If I’d change anything it would be their salsa. The flavor was good, better than the spicy salsa, but when you look at it its really just tomato paste with some large chunks of onion thrown in afterward. I’d like to try a fresh version instead! But I will come here again, … and photograph what I order before scarfing it down!

Decided to give this place a try after driving buy it a few times. The food here was not that good. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas with some shrimp on the side, the steak tasted more like stewing beef, and the chicken was just alright. My wife ordered the pollo sabroso and was disappointed, the cheese on the chicken was processed instead of real cheese, and the rice was hard, the chicken was also greasy. The customer service was great and so where the drinks but I wouldn’t go back.

I generously handed over one star for rating’s sake. On my first and last visit, I stopped here to simply order an appetizer, and a drink to enjoy the game. I chose this spot because it seemed less packed than other surrounding places. And who can turn down Mexican? Fifteen minutes after seating myself, I was finally acknowledged and ordered an appetizer. Not only did it take the app 25 minutes to come out(thankfully I was entertained by FSU getting pummeled) but it was the WRONG order. Totally disregarded my request for a side of guac and the shrimp addition to my order. When I confronted the waitress she told me that’s not what I said… another no no. I didn’t send it back due to the need for eats. But heads up the guac was gross. Absolutely no flavor. The service was clearly subpar. Other surrounding tables were having spats with the service or miscommunication over their checks. The last thing I noticed was a coil of hair nestled under an onion of my fajita quesadilla and that’s when I knew it was over. Ive never been so turned off by Mexican.

I go often with my Chilean spouse, Giuseppe. We have always enjoyed our food and have always received prompt, friendly service. A few people know us by now and will ask if we want our regular order to expedite the process. We tend to go for fajitas or the carne tacos. I never order more than one or two tacos with a side of beans because I can eat about three rounds of the chips and salsa on my own! (The salsa is great, take it from a self proclaimed salsa whore) We’ve ordered pitchers of margaritas, too, which are always good and strong. Me and hubs love it!

El Azteca, El Ponce, El Generic. Different name — same«anytown» America Mexican food. I am trying to think of something to review about this place, but unfortunately it was that forgettable. Fine if you want generic Mexican food.

I like this place better now that it’s separated from the other place on Peachtree. Margarita’s please! There are fewer bell peppers in the kitchen, and I can’t hate that. The food here is solid Mexican food. Your cores are made well and you get a good amount for your money. The margs are strong, so please keep that in mind. The guac is excellent and the salsa is just right. I have no complaints here.

We were in the Poncey Highland area this weekend for the King of Pops festival — it’s been a while since we had eaten in the area, and there have since been several new additions — El Ponce being one of them. El Ponce is a fairly standard casual Mexican restaurant — the menu is large, so there’s a decent variety to choose from. The price point is reasonable, I don’t believe there’s any menu item over $ 12 — and the portion sizes are quite decent as well, so overall you’re getting a pretty good deal. The service was decent — our waiters were attentive enough, and our food came out nice and hot within about 10 minutes of ordering. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing — at least what I ordered; I chose the shrimp enchiladas, and it was a very pale imitation of what an enchilada should be. When it came out the cheese and the sauce had congealed over the tortilla, and when I unwrapped the soggy tortilla there were only four pieces of slightly burned shrimp inside — there was no sauce or cheese or anything! Which is one of the more appealing aspects of an enchilada for me. The sides however, were fairly standard — palatable at least in comparison to the enchilada. Next time I’ll save my enchilada/Latin food cravings for Buford Highway!

We ordered from this restaurant via Zifty. I was craving Mexican food and was not disappointed. Burritos, tacos, beans and rice. Just what I wanted. It was well packaged for delivery and they included chips and salsa.
