This place is awful. The bartenders and staff are rude, out of every 4 songs one good song will come on, the cover to get in is a big fat joke($ 20 to the doorman and $ 5 for cover), people seem truly desperate, the dance floor is too small, people smoking cigarettes surrounding the dance floor and the list can go on! The only good thing… there was never a line for the bathroom. Growing up and living in NYC my whole life, I never been to a worse place and we have some sh*t holes! I won’t be coming back.

If you want to start partying earlier for the week it’s perfect to start on Wednesday night at JOHNYS80s music & compact dance floor and it’s perfect to fit in.

Check your banking accounts after a night at johnny’s. The«gentlemen» bartenders have doubled my 20% tip amount on multiple occasions.

One star for the awesome band(Band X) and one star for the cool, fun people who hang out there, BUT the waitstaff was ridiculously rude, and the bouncers must’ve thought they were securing some super classy night club when it’s really nothing more than a store front in a shopping plaza. Get over yourselves, Johnny’s staff, and then this will be a great place to party!

Just reading the name of the place makes me laugh. Johnny’s is always a good time, however, I have to be drinking! Lol! You can expect to find older women dancing with much younger men… Having a great time! You can expect the bartenders to have on a tux shirt and vest. You can expect to see people ranging in ages from 21 to 71 having a great time. How often do you get to see that. You can expect to hear anything from Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Madonna, and Faith Hill to closing out each night with Frank Sinatra! I am serious that is the closing time song! The crowd is very very diverse from weekend to weekend. This place is great to go with a group. It is a smaller place so get there early or prepare to stand in line because they reach capacity by 11pm each weekend. The cover is only 5 bucks. The drinks are priced normal for the area. The dance floor is super small so prepare to boogie really close to folks. There is nothing like it in the Atlanta area.. I advise everyone to go at least once!

This is a great place if you’re looking for a good size crowd to mingle. The downsides to this club is that they keep featuring the Lee Band that makes you want to LEAVE the club. Sometimes, I wish they would play more eighties or nineties music at least because they tend to go way back in the fifties and stay there all night. Also, they should update their video montage of pictures because one of them is a picture of a Minstrel show. As a white woman I am offended so I can only imagine how a person of color may feel.

I tried to write one before. App crapped out. Johnny’s has an amazing steak and potato. Show up pre-crowd and treat yourself. Get in by 7pm and you’ll be good to enjoy your steak before dancing the night away.

OKAYLETSBEREALHERE, I really love this place when I’m extremely hammered My girlfriends and I went for an early birthday celebration to Lips ATL last Wednesday(drag show in Brookhaven) and three of us decided to continue the night at the Ivy. We then ended up with about 15 guys who were in town for business. We convinced them to go to Johnny’s with promises of old women, booze, and a good time ! and boy were they not disappointed ! Johnny’s is the perfect mix of a drunken wedding party + a retirement home with lots of horny old people… I’ve seen 90 year old women doing splits on the dance floor! it’s really a rockin good time ! I don’t really get why the dance floor is only like 8 feet wide so minus 1 star for that. 4 stars!~!!

This is a good time. The range of people that come to this bar is anywhere from 21 to adults in their nineties. If you like to dance this is the place, and if you like to setback and people watch this is also a great place to go.

Fun place to hang and dance except do not expect any decent wine or fun drinks — it USA basic gin & tonic or beer type of place AND it is crazy smokey! I did not realize how bad it was until we spent time there — would be nice if non-smoking or had a better filtration system

Dancing, Dining, and Cocktails. The slogan says it all(except for dining — I’ve never met anyone who attempted that). If you go here early, expect to see your grandparents reenacting their high school prom. Full tux and boutonnière. Hopefully grandma charged her pacemaker if she is planning on hitting the dance floor — those old people have been sitting down and saving their energy all year for this. For the younger crowd this is more of a «late night» establishment once the other bars close — Johnny’s is «grandfathered» in(see what I did there?) and can stay open later.

Johnny’s oh Johnny’s oh how I love you Johnny’s! I don’t even think I can put into words how much I absolutely adore this place. Being in my 20’s the age gap is remarkable, as you will see people in their 90s dancing the night away. I’ve only ever been to Johnny’s after 10pm on Sunday’s. It’s a $ 5 cover and they always have a live band(who occasionally takes requests). The drinks are reasonably priced, and the shots are more like drinks(not complaining!). If you’re looking for a ride through cougar town, or looking for a sugar daddy to help you through college, or just looking to dance the night away when you know you can’t dance– this is the place for you! The uglier the dance move– the better! The only downfall to Johnny’s is that they allow smoking, which leads to big clouds of smoke, and cigar smelling hair upon exit. I’m a non-smoker, so it stinks(literally), but I still adore this place!

All the reviews for Johnny’s are pretty dead on. I’ve had amazing nights here, and nights that left me wondering«What just happened???» I’ve never had to wait long in line, and I’m always bummed to pay any cover, but it’s never been too much. You walk in and it’s like stepping into the disco of a cruise ship that has seen better days. I find it unique and hilarious! The drinks are STRONG and served in old school stemmed cocktail glasses. The only bummer being that no drinks are allowed on the dance floor. So when your favorite 90’s jam comes on, you will be disappointed to remember through your vodka haze that you can’t show everybody how amazing your dance moves are. The music is what keeps me coming back. You name the decade or genre and Johnny’s has played it — and in no particular order! Once you finally remember a few steps from the iconic Dirty Dancing song, they switch on a little MJ, then BOOM your swing dancing with a creeper dude and then you finally make your way back to the girls to do a little country line dancing. To most people this might sound horrendous, but I have a ton of fun trying to keep up with the music, fend off the creeper dudes and stay somewhat sober. Even my club hating husband has had a good time here! Johnny’s is for everybody!

We had a great time and will differently return. But try and get there before 11:30 to avoid long lines. If you do get there after, You can tip the bouncer $ 20 each person to skip line and get a table. The atmosphere is incredible, everyone was having a great time singing and dancing to the music which was 70s, 80s and 90s music. Bar tenders were over worked but attentive but the mixed were a little weak. I would absolutely recommend this place to our friends.

No drinks on the dance floor. Great music, and the drinks are strong. Strong creeper factor at times and there is a cover on Saturdays. Don’t go here too early!

I look on this page and wonder, how have I not written a review for Johnny’s yet? It’s a neighborhood joint that’s been around for quite some time and I’d put it as an Atlanta nightlife staple without thinking twice. Why? See below. ENERGY — the place is full of it every time that I come in. Sunday night? Hopping. Friday? Obviously hopping! Random weekdays? Hopping too! DRINKS — great drinks, never weak and served in proper glassware. FUN — you know you are in for a treat when you see bouncers wearing«Got Cougars?» Shirts. Sure, some say that us young folks ruin the place, but hey, we like it too! End of the day, come here to relive classic music on an old school dance floor and an unpretentious vibe. Service has been consistently spectacular, so no excuses.

Johnnys is always a good time. I would recommend going later at night there as the action really pics up then. There is always a DJ there spinning the best earth wind and fire songs mixed with abba and Frank Sinatra. You just don’t get that anywhere else. This is not a classy joint as they try to parented to be but that’s exactly how I like it. It’s no pressure, just show up, hit the dance floor(no drinks on the dance floor) and have yourself a good time. The crowd is a mix of old and young. I think that’s what gives this place such a special vibe. If you haven’t been, I suggest you try!

What can I say to best describe this place for the uninitiated? Perhaps it is the best people watching place in America. If you arrive at 8:30 you can reserve a table, otherwise the room gets very full and a line forms at the door starting around 9 or 10 on the weekend. Go here. Have a drink at the bar and dance with someone you just met. Enjoy the disco ball and the sounds of the 70s and 80s while feeling like you are in a lounge on the love boat.

I love Johnny’s! Tinsel is my favorite bartender but I haven’t been by in a month or two. She always makes me great cocktails when I get the bartenders curse and can’t decide what to order. If you’re in a younger age group go on Sunday night, it’s the only time I go to see Tinsel and it’s like our unofficial industry night there. The shots are huge(more like a double) and the drinks and crazy strong. The music is always thumping and dance floor is packed with dancers and people having a good time. I usually get thrown around the dance floor when the DJ spins Madonna and he never disappoints with his sets. Always classic music, always plays music for everyone. Nothing rap-nothing trap-step-dub step whatever they call it ‘house music’ which us incredibly refreshing. What can I say? I’m an old soul. It’s not REALLY cougar town if you go later than 5:30, hit up the hideaway around 11, it’s past their bed time and the party is typically just getting started. Amen
