This restaurant is in short walking distance to many airport hotels and is the only non chain restaurant choice in the area. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I went with a group of 7 from work and sat inside. If you don’t like seafood this isn’t the restaurant for you. Three of us ordered the Alaskan King Crab bucket. We all thought he price of $ 39.95 was a bit pricey, however, when the bucket arrived we were not let down. There was plenty of meat and the crab was very delicious. You are offered a choice of butter or garlic butter and the bucket is served with garlic bread. I was unable to finish all of the crab. If I went again I would split the bucket and an appetizer with someone.

Came here with a party of friends on a Saturday night, just 5 people. From a couple of friends recommendation, Spondivits was sooo good. I wasn’t impressed, WHATSOEVER. First. Valet parking for that restaurant? No thanks. But it’s pretty much mandatory because other surrounding establishments will definitely tow you. Two. For a restaurant with such a good reputation it has so many rules! I ordered the ultimate fried basket and I wasn’t able to substitute oysters for another fried item, which was weird to me. And we had to go the bar to ask for a la carte crab cakes, because supposedly they cant sell them to us that way, per our waitress, but supposedly that was wrong. They will add a 20% gratuity to your bill if your table is over $ 50. All in all, I was not impressed and the food is entirely overpriced. You want good seafood? Go to Pappadeaux’s, Not Spondivits.

Best seafood in Atlanta. Drinks are made like a real drink and not all juice with a splash of alcohol. The servers are always nice. Food is a little pricey but it’s definitely worth it.

Someone died from eating at Spondivits and I almost died from dining at #Spondivits 10 minutes too long. Now the owner has taken to his page to say Spondivits is not racist. If you have to say it and give out a gift card to 1 customer that sides with you to make people believe you did the right thing. .. Hmmm. .. If you have to claim I acted a fool to justify having a repeat customer arrested. .. Hmmm #OfficerHulet came in angry with the intent to arrest not assess the situation. Contrary to the belief of some, citizens do have rights. Like the right to be read their Miranda rights. The right to be told why they are under arrest. NONE of that happened. I was booked and fingerprinted before Officer Hulet told me why I was arrested. Then charge. Actively Resisting Arrest. Then he misquoted me on the citation(i.e., I told him the last four of my social was 1234 and he wrote 1789). For those of you who don’t know when an Officer does this it can change a misdemeanor into a #Felony for falsifying information. The he put«FAILED» on my signature line when in fact he never gave me the opportunity to review the citation. My address was incorrect too. So if the courts mailed me anything I’d never get it. Rewind to the restaurant, Officer Hulet was sooooo close to me, I couldn’t leave. If you watched the video notice how he positioned himself directly in front of me. He did that intentionally. Officer Hulet wanted me to touch him. He wanted ANY reason to charge me with a #Felony What you couldn’t see was there was a customer to my immediate right. The table was to my immediate left. The wall was behind me so there was no way I could’ve exited. And Officer Hulet immediately stood 2-inches in front me. The Entire time he was asking me to leave he NEVER moved even after I said, «Yes,» I“d leave, twice. So how does an Officer demand you leave but block your path. He wanted me to touch him but I never did so the video stopped when the Officer snatched me out of the chair, then handcuffed me. Officer Hulet forced me outside and opened the back door of his car. When the black officer stood in front of me and Officer Hulet couldn’t get to me, he went around to the opposite side of his car, opened the door, leaned in, snatched me from behind, then dragged me into the car. Still no Miranda rights read. Still no reason given for my arrest. I know this(and worse) things happen to people but for those of you who say you don’t know ALL of what happened. .. you’re correct. I too used to love Spondivits and never in my life would I have imagined this would’ve happened to anyone. I’d love for the owner to tell my fans exactly how I acted a #Fool simply because I wanted to be clear on why I was the ONLY one being thrown out based on your 2-hour seating limit when others had been there longer. Tina’s first request may in fact have come prior to 2-hours. I said 3 hours in the video because the manager(or employee) said that’s how long I’d been there but after checking the time stamp on my photos with Daymond John it was around 2 hours. Some may argue I should’ve left but if Spondivits was enforcing their policy, why didn’t they start with the customers that were there before(and still there after my arrest). .. Hmmm Tell me my Black Azz have to be #Gone in 2-hours or you’re calling the #Police before I dine at your restaurant. Don’t put your long list of #Rules on the #Back of your #Menu Spondivits. Put it on the Front and make it clear you don’t care how much $$$ I spend you’ll call the Police and have me forcibly removed. Post on the wall and plaster it on every table. Place your menu faced down, insist your customers read it before dining. And, enforce your policy across the restaurant. Singling out 1 table is #Discriminatory As far as the tip it was $ 70.00(20% gratuity plus additional)

I just wasn’t impressed. The food didn’t taste fresh and isn’t that the main attraction here? At least our server was fun!

I was in town for the Atlanta gift show. We stopped at this restaurant. I did feel that they were a little arrogant. Their menu said«huge» crab legs and they were average size. They call themselves king of seafood. It was good but not that great. I did find it weird that before you eat they make you agree to their«house rules» and including in the fact that it’s an automatic tip on your bill was over $ 50. They say their clam chowder is world famous but I found it to be average. They also claim no shared plates. My mom and I shared a salad and the soup so that didn’t seem to be a problem. The seafood was good. We chose the old bay steamed seafood combo bucket. It was an average portion. It was a funky fun environment. I saw someone order the calamari and it looked large but it should be for $ 16.95. It was a bit on the expensive side for not being gourmet. Overall the food was tasty but a bit expensive. I’m not sure about the worlds best comments since I’ve had some great seafood other places. But beware you have to agree to their rules before you eat which is beyond weird to me including an automatic 20% tip. $ 90 for two people without alcohol but including the tip.

This Place is way over-rated. Slow table service. Ordered a burger medium, it showed up excessively over done and dry. It was really bad actually. My guess is poor quality meat with grizzle and bone. Yeah yeah, don’t order meat in a seafood place. I didn’t plan on paying $ 35⁄45 bucks for a handful of garlic shrimp. I tipped 20% for bad service and bad food. The beer was good, that’s about it. Plus it smelled in there. Won’t go there again.

Extremely long wait for mediocre sea food… not worth the wait or the hype! Spondivits should be listed as one of the most overrated restaurants in Atlanta.

I will start with the food. I had the shrimp PoBoy sandwich. The shrimp were delicious but the bread was bland bordering on stale. The sandwich with fries and tea was over 20 bucks, about a third higher than I thought it should be. But what will keep me from going back was the NOISE! It was so loud in there that it made the occasion unpleasant. It was impossible to hold a normal conversation. I guess I’m getting old but it seemed much more of a bar than a restaurant.

I had lunch at this establishment last week. It was a decent casual dining restaurant. What I didn’t like was their gratuity«policy». Once I receive the bill and saw a 20% gratuity on my bill for a party of two, I was alarmed. When I questioned the waitress and manager about this policy their answer is that they automatically add gratuity on checks over $ 50. The manager said if they didn’t do that, they wouldn’t be able to keep their«help». I understand large parties, but a party of two? I am an excellent tipper as I waited tables to get through college. Rest assured I’ll think twice about returning. I wonder how much they’ll keep their help if they run their customers away with silly policies.

I went for a friends birthday and can honestly say, that i was not necessarily worth the hour wait outside. I recall friends and acquaintances ranting and raving about Spondivits and since I am a lover of almost all things seafood, it was inevitable that I would end up there. I had eaten at The Oceannaire, Legal Sea Foods, and Goldfish(when it was open) and had amazing seafood experiences. That being said, I ordered a bowl of gumbo because I wasn’t comfortable shelling out too much cash on seafood I was not sure would be up to par. I’m glad I didn’t. As my friends different dishes came to the table I was glad I didn’t break my pockets to have a feast from the sea. I will chalk up the subpar service to the fact that the place was jumping(it was a Saturday night) and we were a large party. I think Spondivts is a place you should try at least once, just to say you did it. But it is certainly nothing to write home about

This is my all-time favorite restaurant, nestled just close enough to Hartsfield-Jackson to be cloaked in my love of airports and travel, enveloped in its neon glow to welcome the starry-eyed college student, bar fly, adrenaline junkie, jet-lagged Atlanta native coming home. The food is too good to be true. Were I not a college student(and we all know how that goes), I would say that the prices are reasonable for the selections offered, but I do not hold this opinion simply because my wallet is paper-thin. I had the Butcher Block sandwich on my last visit. Perfection, especially the au jus. The price scare is my only negative sentiment. Everything about this place is a wonderland. My favorite part is the atmosphere: the hole-in-the-wall vibe, the rings of smoke, the antiques and collectibles, the overload of neon and string lights, the tables(with their grand windows) on one side and the bar through the door. Everything at your fingertips here. My dad used to take me here years ago. I was way too thrilled every time. And now that I am able to come on my own, I feel no different. I feel right at home here.

HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE— It seems as though they are ungrateful to the patrons that frequent this place. It starts with a sign when you enter hag states surveillance cameras installed. If you do anything wrong we will place your dumbass on YouTube. If you are meeting a guest and they are not there. Do not expect to be seated until they arrive!(You may be lying about having a guess) Your server will explain to you that all food and drink orders are final even if they mess up… You will pay no matter what because they will try to fix and over cooked lobster… Lol There are many more F-U Customer items. You have to experience it to never come back again. The food was good the drinks were good. The owner or manager implemented atmosphere was appalling!!! 20% gratuity is included!!!

Traveling to ATL for business and my hotel was directly across the street from here. I didn’t really know what to think, why? Well let me break it down… first of all the place looked like a run down warehouse with bright lights, or maybe a back home bar… either way it was not very inviting to look at. When I was looking for parking I literally had to drive through McDonalds parking lot to get to the place when there was valet services. Don’t get me wrong, I am not knocking someone’s job, but paying for parking in a parking lot that small and shared by McDonalds was a bit different. Once I got inside, I was REALLY taken back!!! The place looked so clustered with just everything. It’s like I couldn’t focus. I finally got to a table where my waitress Carla(I think) greeted me. She was very friendly and that was a bonus since I was a bit skeptic. She explained the menu since this was my first time there, and of course the drinks. I then decided to order the crab bucket. Overall the food was ok, the drinks(BOBMARLEY) were delicious, however, I don’t think I’ll be back once was enough, but I did have an ok time!!!

Joe’s Crab Shack on steroids! Love love love this place! Signature garlic butter is soo delicious! Great portions! If you’re not a big eater you’ll be taking your food home to go! 4 out of 5 stars only because of the ambience. It gave me a sports bar feel. I went on a busy Friday night the wait was 30 mins but we were called less than that.

The Service overall was definitely above average. We sat outside and had three different ladies wait on us. I thought our first and third ladies were far superior due to their attention to detail and their friendliness. The First Lady Tonya wrote down and read back to us our order(which we added to and changed a few times). It was Awesome she got our order correct!!! The second lady Le O’NA told us the First Lady was old and had to go home. Then when she had to leave and go home I asked if that made her old too. To which she gave a lame excuse about the management sending her home because there wasn’t enough customers. The third lady didn’t wear a name tag but she got the benefit of the large order and the extremely generous TIP left by our friend. She said she had been praying for a good night –we were glad we could be of service to her. My friend also bought a homeless guy a meal while my girlfriend helped him get his funds for a motel room right across the street. While the menu left a whole to be desired especially for all my dietary needs, the service was almost perfect. I would possibly return.

I decided to try going ‘gluten free’ for a couple weeks so when my wife said she wanted to eat out last night, I suggested we go for seafood. Spondivits came up as an option and since we hadn’t been in a while, I thought it would be nice. We got to the restaurant and it seemed surprisingly packed for a Thursday night. The hostess, who was incredibly unfriendly(didn’t smile, didn’t greet us), put us on the list and said it would be a 10−20min wait. We grabbed a seat on the conveniently placed benches outside the restaurant and waited for only about five minutes before our names were called. GREAT! We were shown to our table(at the back of the restaurant) and from the moment we walked in, I was struck by how LOUD it was in there. I know I shouldn’t have been surprised considering it was a full house but my ears were literally ringing! There were at least six, large flat screen TVs that hung on walls around the room and unlike in most restaurants/bars who keep their screens on mute, the volume was actually turned up on these forcing people to have to shout over them. Then, there were three ladies sitting in front of us who were the LOUDEST patrons I’ve ever seen at a restaurant! For some odd reason, one of these three uncultured broads would just randomly scream. Yes, you read that right, just randomly, «AHHHHH!!!». The first time she did it, I assumed she must have bitten her tongue by accident, dropped something on her clothes, or heck, maybe a spider fell from the ceiling and scared her… I don’t know, SOMETHING. But then she did it three or four more times as if the restaurant wasn’t loud enough already.(**disclaimer** I do not blame Spondivits for the outbursts of this ignorant woman. However, her screaming and the noise level of the restaurant in general really made for an unpleasant dining experience) Our waitress was another unfriendly face. Before she even came over to take our orders she, without so much as acknowledging our presence, she haphazardly threw some napkins and cutlery on the table and then walked away. Rude much? When she returned, she still never greeted us, never smiled, never introduced herself or bothered to go over the menu with us. She just took out her pad to write down our orders. After we told her what we wanted, It was then that she explained that for any meal over $ 50, a 20% gratuity would automatically be added. Ahhhh, that explained it! No wonder she never bothered to be courteous– her tip was already in the bag! We ordered the«Shark platter», the«Bob Marley» mixed drink for my wife(which she enjoyed but be sure to stir it first as the alcohol sits at the top of the drink) and I just got a Corona. The shark platter is divided into two courses. The first course – a basket of steamed oysters – and our drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time. The oysters however were over-cooked and pretty rubbery but we powered through them, dunking them furiously in cocktail sauce. Accompanying the first course was two SMALL containers of tunafish salad and coleslaw for each of us and a basket of «garlic bread». I put the words, garlic bread in quotes because the so-called garlic bread looked and tasted like store-bought hamburger buns that had been wiped with garlic and then warmed in the microwave. FAIL. The coleslaw and tuna were both surprisingly tasty though. The second course took a big longer to arrive but when it came it was big and beautiful looking! It came on a large platter and consisted of a steamed shrimp, steamed garlic shrimp, steamed snow crab and steamed king crab. Both the crab and shrimp was tasty but honestly, the taste didn’t blow me away, I’ve had better at Joe’s crab shack. Throughout the meal, our waitress came over to see if we were okay… and by «seeing if we were okay» I mean, she glanced in our direction a couple of times, never really speaking to us. Finally my wife, who’d gotten full before I did, signaled her over and asked for some carry-home containers since we had a LOT of leftovers. She brought back the containers and left while my wife packed up our food and I kept working on some crab legs. About five minutes later the waitress walks back over and starts clearing our table which is a huge pet peeve of mine. You don’t clear the table until both parties are through with their meal, that’s just rude. But then to make matters worse, not only did she clear the table around me, she cleared my plate that I was still using!!! OMG, really!!! The nerve! I feel like she was rushing us so that she could get another set of guests in her section and get another«automatic» tip. I was so done! I asked for the check and when she returned our bill was $ 142. Yep. Beware, «Market price» for two kinds of shrimp and two kinds of crab is currently $ 120!!! And then don’t forget to tack on a lovely tip for your bad waitress at $ 22. I left Spondivits quite displeased with the entire experience and I won’t be returning in the foreseeable future.

If you love seafood then this is the place for you. I live within walking distance so I’m a regular here. They are open late, 4am. There is always music playing and typically a crowd waiting outside to be seated during peak hours. The staff is usually pleasant. I’ve only encountered a uneasy visit once in my several trips here. The draw here is seafood, I particularly love oysters and on one occasion they were out, like completely out of oysters(however I’ve had them here before and they were awesome) the peel n eat shrimp is a great substitute however. I’ve also had the calamari and it was tender with breading that was crisp and crunchy without being over bearing. The fish is almost always cooked perfectly. The staff does amazingly well for how busy they get. They offer a variety of shellfish and scale fish cooked pretty much how you’d like and they take substitutions with grace. Overall it’s a feel good type of place with great food and I’ll definitely be back and I’d highly recommend to go

This place was busy, but not crowded at 12:30 am… by 2:00 the place was packed. We only ordered beers. Sorry to say my glass had remnants of someone’s salad, and our other glass had a floating fly Looked at the menu, very pricey! Some were listed at ‘market price’…too much for my travel budget although I saw more than one entrée I would have liked to try. Appetizers were over $ 10 each.

Went in for a late dinner after a seminar. I’ve heard a lot about this place from one of my school mates from back home in Cali… Go figure. It’s pretty good, I didn’t get to go all the way to the middle or the back of the restaurant because they were pretty crowded so we were seated right in the front quickly. Our waitress was pretty attentive and she had everything correct on our order. I had chicken wings for my appetizer and fried lobster and fries which was very good by the way. My cousin had A big serving of Gumbo that she said was really good, my friend had oysters which she had no complaint about either. The servings are good and plenty for the price, I would definitely go back to try some other things on the menu.
