YMCA of Greater Seattle – Auburn Valley

They got what you need to get a good workout in. I enjoyed basketball, free weights pool and jacuzzi. Can’t afford 50 to sign up and 5O a month.

After leaving a harsh and scathing review about my recent frustrating experiences at the Auburn Y, I was immediately contacted by the associate executive director. I’ve had a pleasurable interaction with her and it sounds as though they’re working hard at improving the lack of communication issue that particular branch struggles with. I truly hope it’ll make all families who use their facility have a positive experience.

I love this place, it’s perfect for families, great classes and lessons for the whole family. The daycare is great they have no tv or electronics of any type. I go work out and my kids get exercise too. I would recommend this gym to ever one, I’m a dedicated member, and am going to continue to be. NO other gym is like the YMCA

Okay so I’ve only been going for a few days but let me just say that right off the bat the employees were totally awesome & very polite. Then walking through the facility I noticed how clean everything was. They sure do make it easy to come back for more fun. The swimming pools especially is what I like & they are always so clean & the lifeguards are on top of things. I come home not feeling like I swam in chlorine & my hair isn’t all dried out, meaning they have the water under control as well. I imagine myself being a very long time user of this particular YMCA.

I’m torn between giving this Y a 3 star or a 4 star because I think saying it is simply «OK» isn’t fair, but saying I’m a «fan» with eagerness wouldn’t be exactly true either. So, let’s settle for a 3.5 star?
Let me say that I like the feel of the Y. It’s laid back, welcoming, and the staff is always friendly. They offer many programs for youth and adults alike, and they have a monstrous pool/​mini-​water park.
As I said, I like the Y and it has the best of intentions. And being a student, I liked that they will give you a monthly rate according to your income. That’s a nice perk that shows this place isn’t wholly about profit, and they’ll work with people of all incomes to be able to have a gym membership. To me, that says a lot and makes this place a good community staple to have around.
Now, for my complaints, I’m a guy who lives and breathes the gym. I live for fitness and weight lifting. I just feel «alive» when I do it. It’s my vice. And that’s where the Y got into problems with me. The gym is adequate. They have basic equipment for weight training, and a LOT of treadmills and cardio machines. But, typically you had to wait for use of a machine or a set of dumbbells. The gym was often crowded. And towards the end of my run with the Auburn Y, equipment would break and wouldn’t be fixed for (sometimes) up to a month.
It is what it is. The Y strives to be a community support center for people to be active and social, and as I mentioned their income based dues are a great way to show people it’s about a community.
I don’t have anything terrible or bad to say about the Y. I just outgrew it. I was there for the weight room and I needed something bigger, which is why I joined 24 Hour Fitness. But, for a novice or a person just looking for a place to be active, the Auburn Y is a good place to go and they have a great staff and no sharky trainers (Vision Quest, anyone?). As I said, I just outgrew the usage of their limited equipment and I was getting irritated with machines being out of commission for up to a month.

We recently joined the Y, and love it! The Auburn Y has very friendly and helpful staff, great programs available, and is family friendly. My son loves to play in the child watch/​adventure zone while I work out. The preschool swimming lessons are affordable, very fun, and instructors are great!

I love this place I have been working out here for about a month it’s the best ambiance the friendliest people :) and it’s so comfortable I love it :) I just had to get over the locker room nakedness if you have children and you dont want them exposed to strangers of the same sex I would suggest the family lockers over all :) I love it !!!

their web site is hard to understand WHAT programs they have for 2 year olds.
Besides swimming they really have nothing for toddlers.
The staff at the front desk were nice.
But, there are people who are intentionally deadbeats and brag about getting to go to the Y for barely anything where it will cost me $ 100 just to take my son to a class? That is ridiculous.
I’d rather pay $ 25/​mo for my gym membership and nearly $ 100/​mo for Little Gym, thanks.
