Hopdoddy prices, without the Hopdoddy flavors. I wasn’t expecting to pay $ 30 for a basic cheeseburger meal, kid’s meal and grilled cheese with an apple juice. Paying top dollar isn’t an issue if the food is good but this place uses frozen fries and the meat was flimsy and bland. Nothing unique here that justifies the prices for me.

Quality is always amazing. We did have an issue awhile back with the manager and I gave a less than stellar review. But since the the food is so good we decided to come back several months after the issue. The manager remembered us and without asking he took very good care of us. I was completely shocked that he would remember us after so long and especially with how amazingly busy this place is. Major props to the manger and the establishment. Thank you!

The make my day burger is spot on, but messy(not necessarily a bad thing).shakes are good but a tad pricey. Still solid choice for a burger

This is the best burger joint I have ever been to! They use ALLnatural ingredients and no antibiotics in any of the meat. If I could get one closer to where I live I would probably eat here every day. Awesome service, unbeatable burgers and they even have BlueBell shakes… I’m salivating. Do yourself a favor and get a bite to eat here!

Yummy yummy yummy in my tummy! Seriously LEGIT. Me and the hubs were walking around the Galleria for the once in a lifetime date night(OK, its more often then that, but NOT enough!) and we decided to give this place a whirl. We walked in, no crowd, no wait, heck yes! I got the Veteran and let me tell you, AMAZING! It was juicy and a big ol’ cheesy mess! I honestly can’t think of anything else I want from a burger! We got the cheesey fries and those were really good as well. We will for sure be back!

Third time’s the charm! All Star is a very good burger place tucked away amidst the seafood and steak houses that line the Bee Cave Galleria. The service is good, the patties moist and fresh, and the buns are tasty as well. All-around burger goodness. I should be rating it higher… That said, I think ‘All-Star’ is trying a little too hard to follow in Hopdoddy’s tracks. I’ve been there three times and really enjoyed myself only on the third time, and for the same reason that I’m one of the few heathens that don’t regard Hopdoddy’s as the be-all-end-all of a good burger. Simply put, the flavor/texture balance is completely out of whack on these burgers. On the first visit, I tried the ‘Make My Day’, which is a sort of breakfast-style affair with hash browns, egg, etc on the burger, which is served on Texas Toast. Delish, but with all the half-done egg and excessive ketchup, it oozed and squirmed away from me like a freshly oiled water-wiggly. Second visit: I tried the Pacific Coast, which is a greenish concoction including avocado, sprouts, lettuce, and creamy mustard. This lasted three bites before this zero-friction devil squelched the avocado out like an Irish-themed lava flow from Mauna Kea. Then the entire ‘heel’ of the bun committed hari-kari and disintegrated under the massive amounts of mustard. Third visit: I got the All Star, which is the basic hamburger, sans mayo and mustard. This was primo eating and did not drip on anything, not once. Could I have forestalled the epidemic of edible sludge by asking for fewer toppings, or in quantities smaller than a dump truck? Certainly. However, I do like to try things right off the menu the first time without messing with them. Among other things it allows me to see if the cooks know what they’re doing. I *do* recommend you eat at All Star. The food IS tasty, but beware of the overabundance of toppings. Or get a rain slicker. Your choice! This place gets 3 stars on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a meal here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

I give them a 3 for their food but a 4 overall because of their convenience. The burgers are sometimes a 5 but they aren’t consistent and for that I marked them down. Some days the pattys are dry and bland. When they aren’t having an off day then it does not matter what you order, it’s all tasty and the veggies are fresh. The burgers are inventive.

tl;dr — very greasy but delicious food. You will definitely be put down for a nap after this! All Star burger seems to be a favorite with my family in Austin and I can see why — it’s a delicious and simple menu with options for the meat lovers and the health inclined alike. There are bright and flavorful salad options. But beware of the burgers — very, very, greasy. If you squeeze down the patty you will find a pool of fats on your plate. But that’s what makes the burger so delicious. I had the All Star burger and sweet potato fries. They came with an awesome ranch-mayo-chipotle sauce which was a perfect accompaniment. I highly recommend that. For the kids — my little cousin loves their milkshakes and is a big fan of the vanilla bean milkshake. As an adult though, these milkshakes are pretty missable. If you want burger meaty goodness that is made from antibiotic-free ingredients and don’t mind the grease pool, AllStar away!

There is a good menu and on face of it seems like would be great. But had problems with ordering, they got order wrong, tried to charge 10 bucks more then wouldn’t read the order back to me so I could see what was going on. I just expect better service than that, and you sort of wonder why you just spent 30 bucks here before you even start. Waiter service with food was excellent tho so clearly there are staff that care. The salad was okay, def not up to standards I’ve seen at other places like this. The kids burgers, fries had issues(in their words). Next time will go to P. Terry’s which is far easier with children in tow. I doubt I’ll be back which is a shame as there are some nice elements.

I’ve had most of the menu and love it; everything’s made in house with great ingredients and it shows. My pocketbook says I eat here too often but my feet keep bringing me back because it is delicious.

After our stellar first visit here which we really enjoyed, we have been back 3 more times. Unfortunately, on all of those subsequent visits the burgers were super greasy and kind of gross. Honestly, we want to like this place because it’s in our neighborhood so we kept hoping it was just a fluke. I don’t mind a little grease — it’s a burger, after all. But when I say greasy, I mean weirdly wet and soaking the paper that covers the tray. It’s not juice from the meat, it’s actual slick grease. The bun starts to disintegrate as you’re eating. No can do anymore. I feel like the ingredients are good quality but not sure if they are actually intentionally squirting the meat with a bottle of oil as they cook it or if it is just super fatty meat to begin with. I even asked when placing my order if they could make mine less greasy. The gal who took my order didn’t really get what I was saying. I guess other people may like a really greasy burger but for me, the weird overly wet nature of it is unpleasant.

The Austin Chronicle got it all wrong… forget Hopdoddys, forget P Terrys(yuck!), forget Dans… All Star Burger is the best burger in Austin, period. If you like spicy, you can’t go wrong with adding extra green chilies to any burger… they’re roasted and delicious. My favorite is the«Make My Day» burger with the easy-over egg on top… a true culinary masterpiece. Whichever burger you get, be sure to include a side of queso, sweet potato fries and the Black Butte Porter.

Burger joint with an eye towards healthy eating. I had their Alice in Wonderland burger, which was a special of the day and had mushrooms in it. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the burger, the queso, and the fries. They give you potato chips to eat with the queso instead of tortilla chips, which was weird, but whatever. Friendly place with good service. I think it’s a solid place that I’d return to. It’s nice to find a burger joint that is not one of those big corporate chains.

These burgers are so dang good! Try the sweet potato fries with yours it is truly delectable. The southwest burger with chips on it is my favorite. This place will not disappoint.

A was disappointed by my experience here. I would rate it marginally above my high school cafeteria but below the Jester cafeteria at the university of Texas. Prices are ok but I would skip it and head to P. Terry’s.

First — LOVE the«skinny» and«side» options as well as the GF buns. You can get chips, sweet potato or regular fries or half and half or they also offer a small salad for $ 3. Cheesy fries too — $ 5.75 Go «skinny» aka lettuce wrapped to save a few calories. I tried the fireman — $ 9 — a texas style bean burger: cheddar, avocado, salsa, refried beans, pico, tortilla chips and jalapeño mayo. Patty was juicy and flavorful, bun was AWESOME — soft, yet grilled to stand up to all the toppings and not so big as to overwhelm the flavors. the beans were the only thing keeping me from loving the flavor combo. I’m looking for porky, tex mex style refrieds and these beans had more of a bean dip taste. NOT that I’m saying they didn’t make the beans in house, and NOT that«bean dip» style is a bad thing — just not my preference. Cheesy fries were tasty but eat ‘em while they are hot! the sweet potato fries were also nice, crisp and well seasoned. Others in party tried the the west, make my day and Pacific Coast burgers all to raving reviews! Our party also shared a Lily’s Love salad — $ 8 — to balance out all the fries! Lol! nice mix of ingredients — spinach, pecans, red onions, bacon, cranberries and blue cheese dressing. A few non-fresh pieces of spinach were found in the very generous size bowl, but otherwise good. My only REAL complaint is about something trivial — the NAPKINS! Don’t give me a big, juicy burger without some paper towels or BIG napkins. The napkins here are SO small and wimpy! I’m sure they are good for the environment, but not if I have to use a dozen of them! ;) Perks for having both diet coke and diet dr. Pepper(hate diet coke) and for keeping drinks a reasonable $ 2.25.

Before the burger, there was nothing. After the burger, there will be nothing. Every bite is a microcosm of flavor — a miniature universe expanding across your taste buds before fading back into the void. The burger is truth; everything else is an illusion. The burger is enlightenment; all else is ignorance. If this is the path you seek, prepare yourself for a journey that will shake the very foundation of your being. THIS. IS. ALLSTARBURGER. Break out your wallet and bow down to its glory! The sweet potato fries are pretty good, too.

Bit pricey for the burger + fries but the quality and flavor come through with every bite. It’s a messy burger but oh so good. For the fries you can get potato or sweet potato or mixed. I really like the sweet potato ones here, some of the best I’ve had anywhere. For the burger, I opted for a veteran: a stuffed cheeseburger with chili’s. Not that spicy but very saucy and packed with flavor. Make sure you have some napkins near by: you’ll need it.

I’d give 2.5 stars if I could but the burger coma i feel coming on has me feeling loopy(not to mention how I spent $ 14 for a basic burger fries and drink). I had never been to the galleria but apparently the«rent is too damn high» as that is about the only explanation they can have have for charging what they do for a greasy salty burger. I ate it all bc part of me felt like I had to given all the starving children in the world meanwhile I’m apparently well enough off to be dropping this kind of u. s dollars on a burger. Service ok order at the counter and you sit down and wait. I used a fork and knife bc the glare from the grease was so intimidating and I was wearing a decent enough sweater(plus I now don’t have the money to get a new one if something did happen) In review. You can have two delightful p Terry’s meals for the price of a coma here.

I don’t want to disregard the things I liked about All Star: Surprisingly large & hip & spacious, you pour your own wine, Coke Zero at the fountain. Good regular & sweet potato fries, friendly staff, and a clever variety of condiments across a list of burgers. Salted caramel brownies & good milkshakes. Their middle name is «We’re Local.» I just wasn’t a big fan of their burgers. They come in ciabatta-like buns that are difficult to halve, and both our varietals were wet, slippery, and messy to eat. You’re going to use a lot of napkins here. My particular burger was tasty, but it was also gray. Gray food does not thrill me. Next time I’ll go with the lettuce-wrap and fork over knives it, because I’m curious now about their vegetarian & hemp seed burgers — what exactly is a hemp seed burger? Take advantage of their coupons on back of HEB receipts. And for whatever reason you’re strolling around the Galleria here and get an urge for Hopdoddy’s but don’t want to drive into town, All Star Burger will pretty much have you covered. Unless you use a lot of napkins.
