Good products at good prices, but the best part is the staff. They actually said hello and were helpful. It’s sad that this type of an experience is practically nonexistent in most Austin area stores. I was in a similar store(St. Bernard) downtown last night and was ignored by at least 4 employees. Give this place your business!

Company Showed up on time, as requested. Completed the work promptly and it was reasonably priced. Will recommend and use their services in the future.

Last week I ordered a Patagonia jacket on sale for my wife for Valentine’s Day through the company’s website. Today they send me an email telling me that their inventory for the item was wrong and they were refunding my money. They essentially charged me for something they never had in stock. I’ve bought stuff online for years from dozens and dozens of retailers and have never had this happen before. How does something like this happen in this modern era of technology? I’ve never heard of Amazon or Zappos having a problem like this. They offered me a 10% coupon code for another«full priced» item in their store which is basically useless since their regular priced stuff is way overpriced. So they essentially lost a customer. From reading some of their other reviews it’s pretty apparent that this company has no clue.

I ordered a full-price Patagonia shirt from . When it arrived I realized that they had neglected to take off the big plastic store tag that keeps you from walking out of the store with the shirt. I had hoped to take the shirt on a trip to Hawaii, so I spend a minute or so with a fork trying to get it off. Not having success, I called and they told me to send it back, which I did. They returned the shirt to me, and I realized there was damage where I had tried to pry off the tag with the fork. I called their customer service, and the rep was aware of the situation. I asked if they could do anything for me(a new shirt, pay for repairs, a store credit), and I was informed that they were unwilling to do anything for me as I had caused the damage to the shirt. In a world where customers have a lot of choices, I find this unacceptable. They messed up my order, which resulted in my receiving a damaged shirt a month after I’d ordered it. I understand their desire to make a profit(although long-term customer satisfaction is what drives real business profit), but I will not be shopping there again — and I recommend that others shop elsewhere as well.

Order shoes on sale a week later got the wrong size emailed them three times got no response from them of what they were going to do. instead I got a email from fed ex with a shipping label. I ordered the shoes again and emailed them to just refund my money since I had no idea what they were going to do. Got an email two days later saying they don’t have stock of the shoes now. This place is worse than the worst Customer Service I have dealt with, because there is no customer service.

I love this business for so many reasons. Customer service is always impeccable. Staff, even at young ages, is knowledgeable and ever-present, without ever being pushy. Their selection is always versatile without being overwhelming, yet they are willing to order from other stores for you. I have bought everything from shoes and clothes to luggage and technical gear here. They have excellent sales as well. It’s worth the trip to Bee Caves in my opinion. Thank you, Backwoods!

This store has been here 3 years. I have no idea how. I went in there and it was EMPTY and stayed EMPTY. Anyhow I got a GC to this place and looked them up online briefly. Since they sell Patagonia, Northface, etc, I figured they must sell some fly fishing brands like Simms. Nope. Selection is not very much for a store that big in size. They could be much more efficient in the layout of the store or add more selection. They have camping, hiking, biking and pretty much anything outdoor except FISHING. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They even told me that if I spent 50 and gave my address, I would get a card each year on my birthday for a gift(a bag) and she showed me this year’s gift which was a really sweet duffle bag. Anyhow, service is great here. I went after Christmas and got a sweet Marmot jacket for 50 percent off!

An OK place to go, but not fabulous. They offer good quality gear, but the selection is sparse. If you’re looking for something to wear. Then, they’ve got you covered! They offer an excellent array of outdoor clothing to get you out & about… up a snow peaked mountain or traveling through the hills of Europe. If used in conjunction with REI and Whole Earth Provision… you can find an amazing selection. All three stores carry the same brands, but not the same styles. If you are an Osprey fan, this is the place for you. They have a whole wall devoted solely to Osprey backpacks. Every size, shape, model, and color it seems. Go when they are having a blowout sale. Held twice a year. Run, don’t walk! They mark the majority of their stock down to between 25 — 75% off! They do this to thin out their bulging stock of merchandise. I got a Mountain Hardwear Conduit jacket for $ 45 — marked down to 75%. It was originally closer to $ 150. Not too shabby. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. They offer what looks to be fabulous guided trips to far-off places: Argentina fly fishing, a Costa Rica adventure, Trekking the Inca Trail, Nepal or a Mt. Kilimanjaro ascent & safari. The down sides: the rest of their gear selection is mediocre. They favor specific brands: Osprey, Thermarest, Smartwool. They have maybe one of everything. A couple tents to choose from, a few sleeping bags, a couple brands of sleeping pads(with a handful of models), and their prices are high. I didn’t find that the store offered me much to choose from for specialty gear(ie: rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, etc.) The store is located just outside of Austin in the Hill Country Galleria(an upscale, ritzy shopping area). I’ve often wondered how much foot traffic they get in the store. The handful of times I’ve been in to check things out, I’ve rarely seen many people flocking in. Unless they are marking down prices to 75% off. The majority of outdoor enthusiasts seem to reside in the heart of Austin proper. The store is at least a half hour to 45 minutes drive from my apartment. If store offered a better selection, I wouldn’t care about hopping in the car for a Saturday afternoon side trip. All in all, It’s really an outdoor clothing store with a little bit of specialty gear to help you dabble in the great outdoors. it’s a good place to check out for a good sale and some stylish practical threads.

Backwoods is my new favorite place to shop with the Pup and if they would let us My Pup and I would just move on in and pitch a tent! This place has everything a woman man or dog could possibly need for their outdoor adventures. I picked up a Camelbak Hydrobak that holds 2 large water bottles worth of water and a collapsible water bowl for my Pup for an upcoming long hike. In addition to everything you could need for hiking, back packing or camping they carry an extensive line of high quality clothing designed for layering when exploring in areas where the weather has drastic changes in temperature. And the owner’s mission statement«As the owner of Backwoods, I hope to inspire others to seek adventure, to live their lives boldly, to discover their passions and to participate in this big world» made me more than just a fan of this shop. And, as I understand it they also offer guided tours all over the world.
