Bahama Freeze Shaved Ice

Large sizes and extremely friendly young ladies here! This was your first time here and I’m sure we will be back!

LOVE this place one of my co workers first recommended it to me and I just couldnt stop going convinced my family to make the the drive from Riverside and they adored them. Wonderful size for the price and the staff is very friendly. Many flavors and even some sugar free that dont taste all that different.

This is the spot for a sweet/​sour picaldilly! The young ladies are always sweet and courteous. There are tons of other flavors to choose from and they even have umbrellas to give you some shade while you wait. It’s the perfect spot to grab something cold on a hot day!

I’ve been coming here for about 3 years now and I am completely obsessed. I’ve tried many of the other sno cone/​shaved ice stands and by FAR this one is the best! the portions are huge, a small might as well be a large and its really cheap. They always give you alot of syrup, most other stands i usually have patches of just plain ice but this place i always have it loaded with syrup, but not too much that its gross. If you’re looking for someplace cool and quick to get a delicious shaved ice this definitely has to be the place to go!

The girls here are cute but not obscene (like some of the snow cone places here in Austin). Service is fast and they have some wild flavors like Tiger’s Blood.

I have only recently been going to this stand… but I am HOOKED on the shaved ice snow cones. I love the cherry… its the BEST! I have been waited on several times by a young lady that will be going to nursing school soon… she is a treasure. But so far… all the employees have been wonderful. I have taken my entire family (husband, children, grandchildren) and will be taking my sister this weekend! Everyone LOVES the cones. This stand is definitely a great addition to South Austin.

Just recently started going to this awesome little snow cone stand. Boy do I wish I had found this earlier in the summer! I love all the beautiful little ladies making me delicious snow cone delights. Cherry Limade is definitely my favorite flavor. The Rock and Roll is pretty good but will definitely stain your mouth. and who can resist drinking Tiger’s Blood?

Solid, consistent — one of our go-​tos during the insane heat. The crazy amount of flavors makes everyone happy. I used to think they didn’t put enough syrup bc the top would sometimes be white after a few bites but there at the bottom a little syrup pool was waiting.
One thing to note– they changed machines last year I think. This caused the ice not to be as soft as before — sad. But it’s still worth it and delish. And the price is much better than some of the other places close by.

My husband, daughter, and I absolutely loves Bahama Freeze’s shaved Ice! Great location and we will definitely be back! Very sweet girls working there and there are so many great flavors to choose from! Will be back with our punch card! :)

this place is so cool it cooled me off. I love snow cones, and not the clumpy kind but the ones just like this place. I usually go to sweet carolines but I like this one due to their punch card… I just wish they would add fruit on it, that would be fantastic…

Sno cones are like magic to me– icy, sweet goodness in a cup. We have tried them all over Austin, and these are some of the best. Every time a I have been there are never many people, which astonishes me.
Negatives first– we have tried several flavors and there are a few that are strange or not worth getting.
Positives– by far the largest flavor and topping selection in Austin
the ice is soft and light
they give just the right amount of syrup– you don’t get sheisted like at Sno Beach or drowned like at Casey’s
they also have a punch card which gets you a free cone of sno when you buy 9.
I’m not a weirdo or stalker so I won’t go into the hotness of the sno cone girls.

this review is for the bahama freeze on burnet road. someone should do something about getting that branch of bahama freeze its own entry and moving this review there.
bahama freeze is a perfectly respectable sno cone place with a fine and very long list of flavors. you don’t get the wacky pickle juice flavors some keep austin wierd places have.
but you ought to have enough choices to keep you occupied — for about seven years — before you repeat.
the establishment is solid enough.
note: if you order sugar free you deserve what you get.

My goal this summer: Get all 9 punches on my Bahama Freeze card before I send it through the washer in my pockets.
My pup thanks Bahama Freeze for the location since it gives me an incentive to get out for a walk in the Texas summer heat. The always delicious snow cone keeps me cool ’till we’re almost back home and the many sugar-​free flavors make me a happy girl with a bright red/​blue/​purple tongue.

It seems whenever I drive past this place on a weekend there’s a huge line. I finally stopped one day to see why.
Great syrups generously poured on good shaved ice. Yes, as opposed to bad shaved ice. This stuff is soft as snow.
A great treat on a hot afternoon.

Sno-​cones are just water (well, ice) and syrup, but they’re much, much more than that. They’re the signal of the start of another 6-​month summer here in Austin and one of the best ways to stay cool during the heat.
Anyway, I was thinking about what makes a sno-​cone great, and I whittled my criterion down to three: The ice, the syrup, and a wildcard (which I’ll get to shortly).
Ice: ⁵⁄₅. I LOVE the ice used at Bahama Freeze because it’s extremely fine. And, surprisingly, that’s a pretty rare thing to find because your average sno-​cone stand uses a much coarser, and less pleasant, cut of ice that isn’t anywhere as enjoyable to eat.
Syrup: ⁵⁄₅. There are a TON of flavors on the menu – probably double what your average stand carries – and they range from the tried-​and-​true blue coconut to the unusual Almond Joy.
Now, the wildcard. (And, if you’re a heterosexual female, I’d say go ahead and stop reading here.)
H.E.H.F (or Highschool Employee Hotness Factor): ⁵⁄₅. Most likely all the girls working here are cheerleaders, or ex-​cheerleaders, who probably wouldn’t give you the time of day in highschool or even now. So, enjoy your two minutes of flirtation guys, because your wife and kid are waiting for you in the car.

My little guys love this place as do I. My 4 year old will randomly say let’s go get some tiger blood!!! And I know its time for a Sno Cone. The ice is real soft and the flavor selection kick ass!!! Check em out folks!

I kind of want to stick my face in this.
That was my first reaction to my first shaved ice this summer. Although the temperatures have not been quite as scorching in the past few days, (thanks Hurricane Alex!) it doesn’t make the frozen treats at Bahama Freeze any less delicious or refreshing. The girls who work here are super nice and move the line along quickly. I especially appreciate the umbrellas available for use while waiting in line to help fight off the sun.
Pineapple and watermelon are my current favorite flavors, but I plan to make my way through the long list of flavors this summer. I’m not so sure about Peanut Butter Cup or Cappuccino, but I’m intrigued enough to maybe give it a try.

The flip side of summer, that side no one mentions straightaway, the alternate faced coin of the triple summer digits — must be a genuinely well flavored snow cone at the height of a summer day. We spent the summer solstice fighting the sun on the longest day of the year the best way we knew how: via a creative mash-​up of flavors at the Bahama Freeze Shaved Ice stand.
There are a dizzying array of flavors at play here (in the non brain-​freeze sense), and while we didn’t try to count them, we guessed: 75? 100? There are many, and those that there are tend toward the creative. For my part, I chose a bananas and cream combined with blueberry colada twist that totally hit the spot. They feature a punch card where you can ‘work toward’ a free one with repeat purchases. And if this is what it’s like to set goals, color me an achiever.
