I just stopped ordering a drink with my food here and now it’s all good. I think maybe they just don’t even make unsweetened tea. Anyway, the food is good & the staff is super friendly.

I go to this Freddy’s once or twice a month with my kids, and while the food is always great(burgers always hot and fresh, never received a cold french fry), what I would like to comment on is the employees. Whatever they are doing as far as hiring and training is working. Pretty much every employee I have dealt with over the past year or year and a half is friendly, communicative, and professional. I can’t believe that I am writing a Unilocal review for a fast food place, but after our excellent service last night(and every time we’ve been there!), I decided to do it. What should I say about them? They talk to my kids as real human beings. If the kids want something custom on a sundae, they make it happen. When my kids order frozen custard after dinner, the employees bring it to our table. The guy who I think may be the manager is so friendly and courteous. He gave my kids red Freddy’s bracelets a while ago which entitles them to free custard. I am commonly so frustrated by employees at stores/restaurants who obviously don’t care about their job or the product offered. The employees at this Freddy’s are different. Like I said before, whatever this company is doing as far as hiring and training is working! What a pleasure it is to have dinner here. I will continue to be a regular patron.

The burgers here are hard to beat. They’re perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, have a beautiful crust and come with delicious«special sauce». Moreover, the fries are nice and crispy while being perfectly seasoned and the custard is easily the best ice cream I’ve ever had. My only complaint would be that, as others have stated, the service is pretty slow, even when there’s no one else in the store. Also, P. Terry’s offers food that’s just as delicious for quite a bit cheaper. Forgetting those very minor things, Freddy’s makes one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

Freddy, you need to pay your employees more and hire more good people. How can you make it, when P Terry’s is right down the street? The food is decent but the service is SOSLOW!

Good was good but the staff needs help with service and accuracy. They over charged me and then had to have the nerve ask me if I wanted what they overcharged me… yes as a matter of fact I do.

Have been here a few times and the service is always great. They seem happy to serve you. Burgers are always tasty and the desserts are great.

Concrete the perfect ending to the day … they even have puppy custard for Ziggy. Ziggy is a big fan of Freddy’s though we only go there once a month as we’re both watching our figures. Burgers are a bit on the greasy side, but hands down on of the best Patty Melts I’ve ever had

pleasantly surprised. As far as chain fast food goes, this place is great. Burger was excellent, place was clean and staff was all very friendly. Then the custard… what can I say, custard kicks the crap out of ice-cream! Great place to go for a burger and shake.

My wife and I have eaten at Freddy’s numerous times and the food is pretty good. However, on THREE separate occasions at NOON, the employees(including the manager) decided to clean the custard(ice cream) machine. It is so loud that you have to scream across the table to visit with your family. This process goes on for about an hour, which totally ruins your lunch. The restaurant manager today said he «HAD to clean his custard machine, even if it disturbed his customers.» It was a REALLYPOOR management decision as we won’t be going back to Freddy’s again. They should to do this maintenance after hours and not disturb the few customers who eat at their restaurant. It’s almost always empty. It is a cute restaurant, clean, good music but the noise is unbearable when the machine are being cleaned. Another complaint is that the hamburger buns are miniature size(like a children’s burger). Don’t expect a hefty bun to go with the meat(single-double or triple) as it won’t happen. As numerous Unilocal reviews have pointed out, there’s LOTS of other restaurants, so don’t waste your money and time going to Freddy’s, unless you want to wear ear plugs while you eat.

The burgers here are pretty darn good. But Tony the distinguished gentleman at the drive thru is just a sweetheart and we love him. Ask for the special fry sauce. It’s the bomb!

I feel bad for the person who spent a lot of money opening this franchise in the over-hamburgered area of William Cannon and MoPac. If it was any where else it might do better, but up against P. Terry’s, Five Guys, Culvers and WhataBurger it has a row to hoe. And right now it doesn’t seem to hoeing many rows. the lot is pretty empty most times. I have eaten here 3 times. And the burgers are greasy. Dear Manager, please blot them on paper towels before serving. They are good if they are cooked the way they are supposed to– thin and crispy. Tonight mine were pretty flabby and the taste wasn’t as good. You get a single, double or triple patty option. Get a double unless you like a really thin hamburger. The fries are super skinny. They are good but I prefer a thicker fry. I had not gone for a while because the prices were high. Tonight it seemed as though they have rolled back the prices a bit. I seem to recall combos being in the $ 7 – 8 range and my California combo tonight was $ 6.99. Competive with Culvers. More than P. Terrysbut the burger is bigger. I always go thru the drive thru so can’t really speak to the service. I had not tried the ice cream so tonight I got a pint to go. I was soooo disappointed when I got home to find it had been pre-packed and was hard as a rock. Ruins the whole point of fresh soft serve. Mr/Ms. Manager please dont pre pack your custard. You make a big deal about your ice cream being fresh custard, please serve us fresh custard. That said once I let it come to room temperature, the flavor was excellent. If they had more menu options, I would go more often. But I don’t eat burgers that often and never eat hot dogs. I will however stop by for a cone from time to time.

Freddy’s has a decent burger but way too much competition around to pull ahead. Within a 2 mile radius at the William Cannon location there’s a Five Guys, Whataburger, Mighty Fine, Culver’s, P Terry’s, Jack in the Box, and numerous sit down restaurants that also serve burger and fries. Freddy’s just isn’t good enough to compete and stand out. For a double Freddy burger, fries, and drink it will run you almost $ 10. Seriously, for a fast food joint? The only reason I’ve ever eaten here is because they send out BOGO coupons to local residents. I would never go back and pay full price.

Why the hell hadn’t I discovered Freddy’s earlier? Because I hadn’t even heard of frozen custard before a friend offered me some of hers… and needless to say, I was hooked. I also wanted to find a place that offered a good veggie burger, and after some hunger-crazed Unilocal!research, I found Freddy’s. One of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. Great sauce, buttery bun, and some nice, salty shoestring fries to go along with it. Their frozen custard is worth the drive(does anybody else feel like it’s in the middle of nowhere?). The last couple of times I got the vanilla custard with coconut shavings. The best.

I moved away from this neighborhood right as they were building this location and was bummed. I used to eat at the one in San Antonio so i was looking forward to it. I just moved back into the area and the first day I swung in here and its the same great food i was used to in SA. love the hot dog and steakburger combo and the skinny fries. I was surprised to hear that business hasn’t been picking up. I say to all you people, GOTRYIT!

Well how in the world do you reinvent the wheel? I’m a PETA member(People Eating Tasty Animals) from way back and I remember when McDonald’s was working on it’s first billion. This has a mom and pop feel and an added twist with custard deserts. Wife chowed down on a grilled chicken patty, son got the patty melt and I went with the #1, their standard burger. We all left with a nostalgic feeling or was it the Beach Boys music in the background? At any rate we will be back. Good solid burger and he fries are nicely different.

I liked the crispy patties — never had them like that before, but it adds a lot of flavor and texture when the meat carmelizes like that. This won’t do if you like a nice thick juicy patty, though. Not enough of the«California Sauce» which is really like Jack n the box’s old«secret sauce». Remember that? When it was ok for things to be secret in your fast food burger? It came with cheese, which was unfortunate — I do not like cheeseburgers, but still — good. Lots of fresh lettuce, onions and tomato, which is key for a burger. The bun was properly soft and squishy so that the burger juices permeate the bun. Yeah, a tad greasy. Ok, more than a tad, but pretty damn tasty. Actually, I was tasting that grease for the next couple of days, though, which wasn’t good. I loved the shoestring fries. Crispy. Hot. Faintly tasting of garlic powder. All in all, this was a tasty and flavor-filled meal. — Also, a calorie-laden one, I am afraid. This will be an infrequent treat, but one that I would look forward to. Way more flavor than P. Terry’s. I kind of wish I could somehow combine the two.

With these seemingly popping up everywhere, it really feels like Freddy’s is trying to get a foothold in Austin before In-N– Out arrives. I have no problem with Freddy’s, although no great love for it either. I thought the burger tasted good. Sparse on the toppings, but you can add more. But at the end of the day, «steakburger» just isn’t a selling point for me. Just to note, these are better than Steak And Shake’s equivalent. Some of the menu choices I don’t really«get.» A burger named California Style because of the addition of lettuce, tomatoes and«Freddy’s» sauce? I always thought California burgers were supposed to have guacamole and sprouts on them! I am no fan of the fries. Too thin to get any potato taste unless you use a fork and shove a wad of them in your mouth. I’ll return(though not often) and try the onion rings.

Yo, Freddy, it’s been awhile. Selma. Shops at Agora Parkway. 2008. You left to go fight the Yankees in Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Pflugerville. It was so long since I last saw you, I was beginning to think«Fred is dead». Now that you’re back home in Oak Hill, we need to talk. Today, you made ordering a pleasant experience – a bright, smiling, eager to please, patient trainee. I give you a star for her efforts alone. But she was backed by a trainer that had none of those characteristics – who seemed annoyed that customers new to Freddy’s might have portion size questions about the fries or would want to customize a $ 4 burger for each person in a to-go order. Freddy, your bag talks about how you served your country in World War II and are still serving them today. And each boxed hamburger has an outer message that reads«To us, every order is a Special Order». Please share this tidbit with your staff at this store, will ya? Your steakburgers taste great, but they really give P Terry’s a run for thinness – aka, the«transparency burger». No, seriously, I could actually see through the holes in this burger. At $ 2.89 for a single and $ 3.99 for a double, it needs more cow, Bill – I mean, Freddy. Thankfully, I ordered the double for my Dad and me, and the single for Mom. I appreciate the offer of a free water cup – really, I do – especially in this heat. But I could barely sit down with it before the shake order was being called to the counter. And, for a to-go order that includes a water cup and two shakes, please don’t make me beg for a carrier. Offer it up front. Then, just as I found another seat after getting the shakes, the burgers and fries were ready. Add a star for speedy service because you really shine there. But that was also a good thing, because with all the noise, chaos and pandemonium in the restaurant, I was really ready to leave here as soon as I could. Another bone to pick, Fred. While you put mayo, mustard, and pickle packets out on the counter free for the taking, you stealth the ketchup under the counter. When asked if I needed some, I was offered two packets. Now, I get they are these cutesy custom«Dip & Squirt» packets that mimic a bottle of Heinz ketchup and probably cost you an arm and a leg, but I asked for three only because I had three orders. I didn’t need to get the grudging response I did, and if you can’t afford the fancy packets, the plain ones will do just fine. Speaking of the shakes, when I order the ‘regular’(medium), could you make the cup larger than a thimble? I mean, it was so diminutive, I had to check with the staff to see that I’d gotten the right size for $ 3.59. I inquired about the size of the large, and saw that it was not that much larger. But I was told the shakes were«really thick». Oh, OK. I guess that’s why they were so watery when I got home five blocks later.(Are you sure you’re not getting them from Mickey D’s, Fred?) The shoestring fries were fantastic, perfectly fried, golden tan. I give you a star for that. No complaints in that department. Bottom line, Freddy, it’s not a great value for lunch for three thin burgers, two runny shakes, and one order of shoestring fries at $ 22.13. And, for that price, I came to you and did all the legwork in your zoo-like dining room. The only thing you have over Five Guys is that you’ve got the shakes. But Five Guys has better burgers by a country mile, and JITB kicks your butt all the way back to Iwo Jima on the value and for the quality of everything except fries. I’m subtracting a star for all of these reasons. This is a shame, Freddy. I waited three years for you, and you left me standing at the altar of fast food. Just for that, I’m not giving you your onion ring back.

This is the newest location for the Freddy’s chain and BOTH the first one in S. Austin and the first one that I have experienced! That said, this location is new/clean, and teaming with folks greeting and working to get your order to you quickly and with a smile. Since their patties are claimed to be only 2 oz. after cooking, I ordered a triple meat Freddy’s ‘Triple California Style Steakburger’. Their website describes their ‘Steakburger’ as using 85% lean ground beef(which is different from their ‘Original’ burger). After the patty is smashed flat and grilled — the end result is a ‘waffer-thin’ and crispy patty. This was curious to me, but the lunch crew and I theorized that the thin patties require much less cooking time — and same could be said for their shoe string-type fries. ‘Combo’ price out the door was $ 8.54. After this hefty meal(who’s utility was to help absorb liquids from Unilocal’s Night at Finn and Porter’s) — I depressed myself by reviewing the calories for the burger(848) and fries(479) = OUCH! In the end, while their skinny fries are not my fav, I thought to myself«That IS a tasty burger»!
