Wow!!! First time coming here today, and can definitely say that I’m hooked. This place is DABOMB!!! Had their chopped brisket /sausage sandwich and that was AAAAAMAZING! Topped it off with their peach cobbler, and was very much impressed as well. Keep up the amazing job guys! You all have nailed it when it comes to BBQ.

I went on a Wednesday for lunch — no line, which is great for a food truck! I ordered the 3 meat plate: brisket was a little dry, but the beef rib was perfectly juicy and flavorful, and the pulled pork had the tangy bbq sauce — oh yeahhh! Mac and cheese was awesome, even had bits of meat(pork or beef, I couldn’t decide)! Potato salad, nothing to write home about. But the Service was very friendly, included everything in the bag except a bib! I’ll be back!

4& ½ Phenomenal. This under the radar gem was the best BBQ, and quite likely the best thing period I tasted on my most recent Austin sojourn, and only further proof to me that this city is one of worlds best for BBQ. As is in keeping with municipal tradition, the whole operation operates out of a food truck, parked on a pretty major thoroughfare in the parking lot of one of the towns less hipsterish bars. I heard tell that you can get FREE bbq here during NFL Sundays with a minimum bar tab of some amount. I’m not sure what the details of this supposed deal are, but it seems pretty damn intriguing to me! Not surprisingly considering the state you are in the beef is the necessary meat to focus on. Both the Brisket and the beef rib were as smokey and sensuous as any meat I have tasted. Plump sausage popped with fragrant flavor and pork ribs were notable moist and non dried out. Even the sleeper meat of Turkey retained incredible moisture and smokey flavor. Sides were forgettable, as more often than not seems to be the case at establishments with bbq as good as this.

If you’re looking for awesome brisket, this place nails it! For my taste buds it’s better than La BBQ, and I wouldn’t know about Franklin as I hate long lines. The brisket here is to die for; tender, flavorful with a perfect char. Cuts easily with a dull plastic fork. I also had the pork ribs which were excellent and the sausage which was also excellent, flavorful without being overly spicy. We had several sides which were also very good, especially the mac & cheese. But that brisket!!! Great find; can’t wait to return.

5 stars instantly for the customer service. I had a few friends in town and they wanted BBQ. This review is mostly my experience eating with a vegetarian. You are probably thinking, just stay away from a BBQ place if you are a vegetarian, but the other friends wanted to try, so we went. She just ordered sides — corn and mac and cheese. We sat down and she opened up her mac and cheese and corn, and there were clearly chunks of meat in the mac and cheese, and an ambitious rub on the corn. Ugh. So I went back and checked if the rub had any meat and they said no. I confirmed that the mac and cheese did have meat, so I asked if the coleslaw had meat, and they said no, so I figured I’d just buy her another side and I’d eat the mac and cheese for her. The woman realized what happened and just gave us the coleslaw for free. So kind! Moral of the story — probably don’t take vegetarians to BBQ. If you do, ask if there is meat in the sides. But even if you make a mistake Brown’s is cool and will help you fix it. Oh, and as a meat eater, their meat was TASTY!!! And the other sides were good too :)

We ordered 3 meat plate with brisket, pork ribs and sausage. Considering all the bbq places we ate, this place is the best. The meat was very moist and tender with good flavor. Good portion for 2 people for $ 16. Definitely will come back again

This place nails it, from the meat to the sides. I can say that in Austin, only La Barbecue tops this for me(I have never messed with the Franklin’s line). First off, there is no getting there really early to get certain items or to eat. You simply walk up, and have really great BBQ anytime. Also, the sides are really good here, get the cabbage and Mac! I have had the ribs, and they are pretty damn good. The brisket is excellent, ask for a fatty cut or off the point. What really sets them high and gets those 5 stars is the smoked chicken. It is the best BBQ’d chicken I have ever had. To top it off, every time I come here the lady and gent inside are very personable and seem to enjoy when you enjoy their food. Definitely give these guys your business, it’s good stuff.

I have passed by this trailer several times, I am so stroked that I finally tried it after work. The small brisket/sausage sandwich $ 7 was nice and tasty with lots of flavor. The staff was friendly and organized. I will be stopping by again soon to try the pulled pork.

It’s ok but it’s not near the top of my list. I had been here a few times when they were at Genie car wash. Now they are even closer to the crib at Corner Bar. The barbecue choices are pretty complete and the prices seem reasonable. I went for beef and pork ribs, brisket, Cole slaw and cabbage. The beef ribs were short ribs but quite small. An entire rack of 6 weighed only 1.3 lbs. They were decent but because they were small the seasoning and crust were a bit over powering. Just a couple bites each. The pork ribs seemed better a few years ago. They were only ok. The brisket is tasty but excessively moist and a little mushy. Seems it could be enhanced by injection for it to be like this. They were out of potato salad. Cole slaw was standard. The cabbage was interesting and tasty but somewhat sweet. All in all I may prefer the barbecue at the gas stations. They are not near the top of my list either but are convenient and consistent.

3.84! Got there around 7ish on a Friday night and saw a small line. Took awhile to find some parking. The lot was full so I parked on the street and walked over. Ordered the meat plate + 2 sides for only $ 10! They have some solid brisket. No sauce needed. The mac and cheese and cabbage sides were really good. All of this was still good the day after. Maybe even better than the night before. I’d definitely come back if I was looking for bbq later in the day. Looking forward to trying the ribs next time.

I absolutely love this place. I practically throw my cash at them. I’ve had Franklins, La Barbecue, and Micklethwait multiple times and they do not compare. I don’t live too far from these guys, so I catch myself going at least once every-other week. I personally order their brisket, beef rib, sausage, and potato salad. Their brisket is my personal favorite.

Yummy stuff! had the three meat and 2 side plate and it was pretty hooked up! ran me about 17 bucks w/a mex coke but was enough for two meals easy! I love the brisket and the chicken best and also the beans w/bacon were mint! my pork rib was a lot of fatty for my liking but still had a nice flavor but the consistency of the meat turned me a bit off. The Mac and cheese was just a little plain and felt like it could have used even just a little salt & pepper or something. I would try the potato salad or cabbage next time which I hear are very good. Overall a good bbq spot with no wait and good food even on 100 on a Saturday afternoon. Will be back

Yummy bbq Had the 3 meat plate with two sides — pork rib, pulled pork and brisket with cole slaw and cabbage. My favorite was the pork ribs. The cabbage was delicious. All was good — we ordered at the truck outside then ate in the bar. The people working the truck are super nice — I think it’s family owned and run. And the dessert — a homemade banana pudding? TODIEFOR!!!

I had been thinking about Brown’s a lot lately and was waiting for the perfect day to make the trek down S. Lamar for my lunch break. Finally the rain stopped, the sun came out and it seemed like the perfect day for some BBQ. So I made it happen! Before tasting their food — the thing I knew I already liked about Brown’s was the availability and hours they are open. Sometimes when I look into going to BBQ places it seems like they have limited hours or you have literally get there at breakfast time to ensure you have some lunch … no thanks. Browns is open from 11am-11pm Thurs-Sat and 11am-7pm Mon-Wed. Closed Sundays. So yeah totally available most of the time and easy to get my hands on — thank you! As I approached the food trailer parked outside the corner bar I could smell the smokiness and mmmmm … it made me even more hungry than I already was! I decided to order the 2 meat plate, which comes with 2 sides and all the fixings. I got brisket, sausage, cabbage and mac-n-cheese. I will be honest — the sausage was just ok in my opinion. I have had better sausage. But the brisket on the other hand was awesome! I usually prefer the lean cuts of brisket, but they did not ask here and the pieces I got were more fatty than I typically would have picked out … but that fat was the best fat I think I might have ever had on brisket! It literally melted in my mouth! The sides were pretty good too! The cabbage was my favorite of the two… it’s not common to have cabbage as a side so it was a pleasant surprise. It was cooked and seasoned well and had bits of meat in it! The BBQ sauce I thought was also tasty and flavorful! Overall I would say I am definitely a fan of Brown’s. I like good, convenient, easy to get, priced well BBQ! Looking forward to trying the pulled pork next time!

Wow. This was my second BBQ spot in Austin, and my first was Franklin’s. From the first bite, I realized this BBQ truck gives Franklin’s a run for its money without the wait. It’s located on the frontside of a bar, and I got there at 7:45pm on a Thursday and there was no line. I ordered 2 meat plate with beef ribs, links, Mac cheese, and cabbage, plus 0.5 lbs brisket. Portions are huge, my order could have fed me and my girlfriend. Brisket was properly tender and juicy, with the right amount of pepper. Links are spicy, and most important, they have a snap. Beef ribs(came with 3) are short and stubby, but meaty. They were slightly over smoked, and my least favorite but it’s a bargain so no complaints. I LOVED my sides. The Mac cheese had a watery cheese sauce but I liked it! I cabbage side is sweet with bacon, and was a refreshing change to my preference of salty collared greens. To conclude, just try it. Great value with no wait, and open for dinner Grades Food: A– Service: A Price Value: A Ambiance: C+

Alright, bear with me on this one: Know anything about the history of baseball? Josh Gibson? Cool Papa Bell? What they could’ve done if times were different and they were allowed to play? That’s kind of how I feel about Brown’s Bar-B-Que. It’s the best Austin BBQ you’ve never heard of. And all I’ve done here is cabbage, coleslaw, and their moist brisket, and that’s probably what I’m gonna do the next ten times I visit. Because it’s great stuff. I’m pretty sure I’d be happy with just their cabbage and a bowl of rice, but sometimes I’m weird like that. Incidentally, I can take or leave BBQ sauce, and I’ll take theirs. I’m simply not the biggest fan of smoked meat & trailer eating, but those are my #firstworldproblems. I am mildly curious how often I’ve zipped by this place without knowing what it was, but now I do. Well, good for me. I also feel I should sum this up with a standard Unilocal quip like«Yummy in my tummy» or whatever, but now I’m just thinking about their cabbage and a bowl of rice.

Fyi the large pork sandwich is enormous and more importantly delicious. Loved the onion and jalapeños on it. I also had the potato salad which may be my favorite potato salad I have ever had. Looking forward to tasting more of the menu.

I was more than impressed with the brisket and pork ribs that I was served at Brown’s when I visited with a co-worker this past week. I’ll just get right to the point, their BBQ is outstanding. The brisket was as moist and tender as any I’d had in about a year — which was my last visit to Franklin’s. And I’ve had plenty of good BBQ this past year. The pork ribs rate way up there as well, not just for the year but ever. They had a delicious sweet/smokey caramelized coating that complimented the tender rib meat really well. The two meat plate was $ 10 and came with two sides. As you can see in the pictures I took, the portions were really generous. Can’t wait to go back to try their other offerings and to see if they’re consistently good or if I caught them on a spectacular day.
