Hit and miss with service — some of the waiters are awesome and some are meh, but I haven’t had a bad experience in the two years I’ve been going. Great chicken tortilla soup. I’ll update with specific servers’s names when I can.

Always a good feeling to be here, the Margaritas, Creamy Jalapeño Sauce, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas, Tres Leches and the list goes on. The Ambience and experience is really unique. Its must try restaurant if you are passing through Austin, and if you live in Austin, You will learn to live in Chuys eventually, like me: D!

We went to this Chuy’s assuming it’d be less packed on a Saturday night than the one on Barton Springs. There was still a 20 – 30 minute wait, but definitely not the kind of scene I imagine you’d find at the other location. You can self-seat in the bar area, but only for apps and drinks. At one of the Virginia locations, you can eat there too. This was a little disappointing. We were a pretty easy table to wait on, ordering everything at once and not needing any refills or anything the whole meal, and so whether because of that or not, the service was fine. We really could’ve used plates for our queso and were never given the opportunity to ask, but other than that. We were adventurous and ordered the Elvis Memorial Combo… and we ended up having enough food for three whole meals. The food was great, as usual, but the queso chips on the side with the taco were cold and congealed by the time we got them. Luckily, we’d ordered queso compuesto(pico on the side, of course), so we could use that. My dining companion’s regular margarita on the rocks was strong, my strawberry frozen made me question if it even had alcohol. I’d prefer the drinks be a little more consistent. Ample and huge parking lot and waiting area with a good amount of seating makes this location worthwhile to visit. Oh, and they have curbside to go take-out! Score!(And a buy 8 to go entrees, get the 9th free card right inside the door on the table there.)

Chuys is a good go to for a happy hour meet up. The bar has a free nacho bar(with meat, queso, beans, salsa and chips) during the week from 4 – 7! Go in for a drink and walk out full! The food is pretty good, nothing fancy, just an easy dinner and good drinks!

Love chuy’s! Always have and always will. Baja Shrimp tacos are always my go to and the vegetable enchiladas as a back up. Queso is awesome and I love the tres leches cake! Margaritas and the sangria is always delicious. If you get hot easily stay away from the very back room. Lots of lights. Super bright and gets warm fast!

What’s not to say about Chuy’s that hasn’t already been said? It’s Tex-Mex with some more flair — think Friday’s does Austin style Tex-Mex. It’s always consistent. It’s always busy. If I had one outstanding complaint about Chuy’s, it would have to be their obsession with garnish on the plate. Good homestyle Tex-Mex doesn’t require«plating» or presentation.

Took 40 minutes to get a to go order of soup from a rude staff. I get it that they were«busy», but that’s why I ordered a bowl of soup to go. It’s easy and fast. But the man who took my order was a real jerk when I was so surprised that it was going to take so long for SOUP. And when I asked them to check on my order, I was completely ignored. This isn’t the first time I had a bad experience at this location either, it seems that I always have a bad experience at the Arbor Trails location, although the Barton Springs location is amazing.

Waiting 30 minutes for table when they were not busy in addition to that many times they have seated incomplete parties and today they decided they would change the rules on us. Food is good but service with hostesses is not.

Fantastic Tex-Mex in a casual«70’s velvet pictures décor» meets«Hudson’s Grill» on the border atmosphere. I really enjoy the seafood tacos and chili rellenos, though the portions are generous and I almost always need a box for leftovers! Their featured sauce is a jalapeño ranch that will imprint on you for future cravings immediately… so take heed and don’t fill up on the chips & salsa & sauce before your meal arrives! Highly recommended for family, friends, business lunches, and happy hour: Enjoy!

Why do I keep coming back to Chuy’s, Unilocal asks? Because I love the Tex Mex offerings, which are typical yet unusual, they have a decent white wine and pour a nice, big glass of it for ya, the Boom Boom sauce is awesomely creamy and hot, the chicken is fresh, white meat, the ambiance is kitschy fun, and it’s close to home. We always sit at the bar, and the service is always excellent. What’s not to like?

Chuy’s, an iconic tex-mex of Austin. Since there are so many locations of Chuy’s, I feel like each location can be either a hit or a miss. But this location was a hit for us. Came here on a busy friday night, we were quoted a wait for 35 minutes — but fear not, there is a great area by the bar that is first, come first serve. You can order drinks & appetizers while you wait & grab unlimited supply of chips & salsa! Get the Queso, it is absolutely delicious! Warm melted cheese with guac & ground beef with pico de galllo! AND Fajitas, you cannot go wrong with that. Large portions made to share! We ordered the combo(beef & chicken) that came with loads of fixings. Chicken was a little dry though, but overall it was well flavoured. On a side note, the drinks were tasted quite watered down. margaritas were a no-go. Maybe beer instead?

A visit to Austin would not be complete without a trip to Chuy’s. For me, they are the benchmark for Austin Tex-Mex. Like the other locations in town, the interior of the restaurant is a riot of colors, sights and sounds. They put on a good show of keeping it weird. The staff is always professional and have perfected the art of keeping chips and drinks always filled while hustling to get orders and attend to any other needs. All that will still coming across as laid back. Chill and spot on are rare when it comes to restaurant service. The food is good. Although its not great like mom’s cooking, it will always be my favorite. I love their queso and creamy jalapeño dressing for dipping chips. Shrimp tacos or a Mexi-cobb salad are the call when I’m eating«light»… On days I’m not, one of their oversized burritos or enchiladas with boom-boom sauce tend to really hit the spot. Chuy’s how I miss you when I’m away…

Going to Chuys is like visiting your Mexican grandma’s house. It’s themed like a Mexican restaurant, but there’s a bunch of old things nailed to the wall. I’m not a huge fan of Tex-Mex, but Chuys does it right. Service is always fast and friendly. On my last visit, we were seated right underneath the air conditioning. It was a refreshing break from the hot Texas day, but we quickly became far too cold. They were very busy and our waitress looked for another table, but there were none to be had. We told her it was fine and we endured it. Moments later, she was back with a hoody from her car and gave it to my girlfriend to use! We didn’t expect this kind of service. We were floored by the sincere compassion from our waitress. For this, I shall return more frequently. The food is always solid. I generally get the steak burrito. It’s our standard tex-mex menu. There’s meat, beans, cheese, and sauces.

Two stars for the waiter we had he was friendly and funny. We got an outdoor seating it was okay. The food is just Americanized Mexican food. It sorta authentic but not. I felt the prices were okay, but I couldn’t finish my enchiladas it was nothing impressive. I don’t even remember what sauce I had with it. I think went with a traditional red sauce over it. The bean tasted good the rice was alright. Out of some sort of politeness I got mine in a doggy bag. The rest of the people we were with didn’t take their burrito home. It was a big burrito but the food was just eh. I’m sure other people love their Chuy’s and that’s cool. As for me and my husband it’s a NA for us. But we are glad we tried it.

You can’t go wrong with a Margarita, queso and guacamole. But I always find all other food items mediocre. And the service is lacking. «Could I please have a spoon?» «Could I please have a spoon?» Could I please…” If I want good Tex Mex I go elsewhere but in this part of Austin I’m lost. The large Chuy’s sign called out to us so what’s a car load of starving perople to do? Parking lot was packed on a Wednesday and a small tree limb fell on our car hood. Is there a tree trimmer in the house? Perhaps he will also bring me a spoon.

Chuy’s is a chain that I frequently enjoyed in college. Lubbock isn’t like Austin, and there aren’t a plethora of places to go. I loved Chuy’s then and I love it now. In fact, it’s like 100xs better in Austin. You can get free chips, queso, ground beef, salsa, beans, jalepeno sauce, and tortillas from 4−7pm on weekdays. That’s a steal. Just add a martini or marg and you have dinner. The food still comes from a commercial chain but it’s good. My go-to is the taco salad with fajita chicken. Obv not to be healthy because I totes don’t care about that(and obv I’m annoying and can’t spell out full words). I’ve had their quesadillas, enchiladas, flautas, burritos… list goes on, and they were each equally good. Their sauces give the food an extra kick that zests up the lack of freshness. As far as service goes, it’s alright. I’ve never had a bad experience. I’ve also never had a «Wow! That server is so awesome!» experience either. It’s cool with me though, because Chuy’s is cool with me. Oh, and one more thing: If you go to this Chuy’s during happy hour, there is a chance that you will get to hear drunk soccer moms talking about the woes and joys of motherhood. It’s very entertaining.

There is so much about Chuy’s that makes me want to hate it. The religious prayers on the silverware pouches. the fact that its a somewhat huge chain. and the fact that all the people I know who have ever expressed any love of Chuy’s to me are complete douchbags. The whole Elvis theme/Tex-Mex theme doesnt make much sense together… I dont think Elvis ever ate at Chuy’s so I dont even understand what they are implying with all the Elvis themed dishes. Maybe they are insinuating the food is so rich it can make you fat like Elvis. I realy dont know or get it. I do know that there is some seriously good food to be had at Chuy’s. The chips and salsa is great. The salsa is always fresh and chunky and the chips are crispy an deliscious. I always ask for a side of the Jalapeño Ranch for dipping. its definitely one of the best ranchs sauces I have ever had the pleasure of dipping a chip in. The food. the food here is what keeps me from being able to hate Chuy’s no matter how tacky and trendy it is. The Carne Guisada Enchilada special is amazing. The boom boom sauce is amazing and they will gladly put it on anything for you! My favorite dish at the moment is the Elvish Chicken… I know its stupid its called the Elvis Chicken but whatever. It’s a cutlet that has battered in potatoe chips and deep fried served with your favorite sauce. My thing lately is to get it topped off with Chili Con Carne and Queso. Chuy’s also has great Queso! Its not that kinda queso where you feel like someone heated up a crock pot of velevtte and added some rotel but that I’m at a legit Tex-Mex restraunt and this queso is more like a chili filled gravy than fake plastic cheese kinda queso. I also love the Queso Compuesto option. the only way I can think to make this queso better is by dumping avacado, onions, and meat in it. Oh the sides here are legit also. I get so tired of the same old spanish rice at every Tex-Mex joint. but these guys spice things up with a super tasty green chili rice. The charro beans are great also and while I’m no fan of re-friend beans they do have some of the better refriend beans in town. So. bury your coolness ignore the religious statments and stupid elvis jokes and go enjoy Chuy’s. it realy not bad at all. P. S. Save room for the Tres Leches Cake … its one of the best deserts ever and they do it proper here!

Oh how do I count the ways that I love Chuy’s? There is no way … I know. There is so much good here it is glorious. First the service is usually always great, but it is their food that gets me rockin! I love their queso — especially the queso with all the stuff in it! And of course don’t forget to request the jalapeño ranch for your chips… this is a must! I have a hard time deciding if I like the ranch or the queso better … so I really just try not to stress out about and enjoy them both! For my main course I have tried a few things such as the carne guisada enchiladas … OMG … this probably a little different than most enchilada plates you normally get anywhere else and are worth a try. I love the meat and gravy on top of the enchiladas … so good! Then there is my current obsession … I get excited just thinking about how good it is. I wish I had it in front me right now … The Elvis chicken is so good I am not sure how to express it in words. The chicken is battered and fried in Lays potato chips and then you pick which sauce you want on top of it. A while back a waiter one time let us in on a little secret and that was the combination of the Elvis chicken with the boom boom sauce … Perfection! Anytime I order this, my waiter or waitress is always impressed that I know what is up! This is definitely how you do it! Then last but certainly not least … SAVEROOMFORTHETRESLECHESCAKE!!! It is probably the best around. It is big enough to split with your date — fyi. Get it … you will not regret it!
