Excellent food, service and overall experience. I was staying in town overnight for work and figured I would try them out. Even though I got there in the final business hour, they were very attentive and on top of drinks, salsa and the order. Speaking of the salsa, It was very fresh and tasted great. The heat will add up after eating a lot of it so make sure you have a good tolerance for spice if you plan to throw it down. Food was great and my server gave me a drink to go. Will definitely be back!

Horrible rude service. My wife and I were not greeted or served when we came into eat tonight. There is simply no excuse for this type of behavior from a restaurant employee. We asked for a menu when we sat down and were never given menus or even acknowledged. I have no idea why. We will not be back.

OMG, this place has gone down hill! Our server Eddie was probably the worst I have ever had. Seriously had to request items two and three times. Restaurant was like a meat locker it was so cold on a cool day I started losing feeling in my fingers and my nose. I knew when arrived at 7:15 and sat for ten minutes before anyone came over we were in trouble. Then Eddie messed up the order and blamed his slow performance on a «backed up kitchen» I guess Flores has stolen away all the good servers and the thermostat from Serranos! Sad as this use to be a favorite but not if this is the type of service being offered! Think I’ll just drive a little farther next time! Customer care and service are lacking and no management in sight. Shane the old GM use to have this place humming along. Bummer he is gone as this ship is sinking now!

Serrano’s mesquite grilled fajitas are the best we’ve ever ate! We’ve tried their platters and enchiladas, all good quality. Maybe the portions are too big? That’s not a complaint, though. Warning about the carnitas: they’re not all juicy and shredded, they’re guisada size chunks of pork cooked in a mild adobo-style sauce. Different, but good. We’ve gone off and on to Serranos for years, and it always looked run down. It’s been remodeled recently. They might be new owners? Same recipes, better vibe. We’ve gone three times in the last two weeks, and service ranged from decent to excellent.

This one too? Good grief Just walked in, sat at the bar Waited 10 min… The bartender saw me twice yet continue to help a couple sitting at a table without any regard to any other people sitting at the bar. I walked out Serranos used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Austin… But I can’t figure out why it’s gone so downhill, and it seems it’s all the locations

My husband and I eat here almost every week, and we almost always call ahead and order it to go. I not giving it 5 stars because they have messed up my to go order more than once. So make sure to check your to go order every time you pick it up. Other than that the food is so good. I love the salsa, it taste so fresh. They make the best tortillas. Their beef fajitas are to die for! The meat is so tender and juicy. Also my husband loves their chili relleno, and the burrito they have. Again, food is delicious just remember to check your to go order before leaving.

We have not eaten here for about a year. Tomas, who brings the chips and busses has been working here. He works at least 2 or 3 jobs and his work ethic is infectious. Now to the food. My wife and I had the mesquite grilled fajitas and they were extremely good with the fresh made flour tortillas.

I used to think Serranos had the best beef fajita meat in town. No longer. It was moist and tender, but the flavor that used to make it so memorable is long gone. I only gave 3 stars because the service was good.

If you’re a fan of 7-eleven slurpees and stadium cheese, eat here. My margarita had zero alcohol in it, and the queso was so disgusting I could have been at a Texas football game eating nachos. Did I mention the fajita meet took 2 minutes to chew? If you are into quality food do not eat here. This place would succeed in rural Alabama, but there is no reason any Austinite should eat here.

The service at this particular Serranos location was impeccable. I dropped my napkin and it was picked up for me by a waiter from out of the blue. Our drinks were never less than half full and we were checked on several times throughout the meal. Seamless. So now to the food — it’s delicious! I met my cousin on my lunch break here. It was actually a Saturday evening and it was consistently busy. We both ordered enchilada plates. He got the chicken verde enchiladas and I got the chicken enchiladas with queso on top. The chicken in my enchiladas was so moist and cooked just right. The rice and beans were good too and paired well. I also really liked their salsa and chips — the salsa was not too spicy and the chips were fresh and warm. My cousin said his chicken verde enchiladas were awesome too! I seem to always forget about Serranos because it is not the closest tex mex place to my house, but it is close to work. By close I mean it is not 1 mile or less like some other places … its more like 3.5 or 4 … haha. After my experience here I will definitely consider them as a positive option more often when I get my hankering for some yummy mexican food!

This is usually my neighborhood Mexican food choice — but today it was solidified why exactly I always appreciate this Serranos in particular. I placed an order yesterday for catering to pick up today for an office lunch. When I arrived it wasn’t ready — mind you I had no intention of getting upset. However, the Manager came out personally, introduced himself, shook my hand, and apologized to me that it wasn’t ready and they feared possibly not taken down as an order correctly. I waited an entire 15 minutes(not bad at all) and they quickly made our order. Not only did they soothe me but they also through in a queso, salsa and chips for free — which was a nice bonus for the staff. Thank you for truly managing a business with the customer in mind — that was really appreciated.

Eh, ordered the al pastor plate and it came out pretty bland and luke warm. The refried beans were a tad watery, also bland and not hot. For $ 11.99 it was overwhelmingly disappointing. My wife had the fajita enchiladas which came out sizzling hot and delicious. The chips and salsa were excellent and they keep refilling your salsa cup and chip basket at no charge. However the drinks here are overpriced, $ 7 for a margarita, $ 6 something for a Dos Equis draft is too mucho. With the inconsistency of the food and being a bit overpriced overall this place fails to impress. There are much better Mexican food options in town.

Came here on a busy Friday evening with my family and we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was packed which is typical at this time but we received prompt service from the hostess. While waiting at the bar, we received lightning fast and courteous service from the bartender. Everyone was satisfied with their drinks. The wait wasn’t too long considering how packed it was and we were seated in a very timely manner. They start you off with a chips and salsa appetizer like any traditional Tex-Mex restaurant. The chips were fresh and crispy. The salsa had a nice flavor and good degree of heat. The service was prompt and professional while keeping our drinks and chips filled quickly considering how packed it was. The queso was delicious and the guacamole had some really nice flavors. The food was excellent. Everybody at the table enjoyed their meals. I had the spinach enchiladas which were very rich and tasty. The rice and bean sides were very good as well. We really had a wonderful time with our family here. Recommended…

If I had remembered to check in every time we went to Serranos in the past 2 – 3 years, I’d have 100 check ins here. The really sweet guy that brings around the chips and salsa knows us and asks us how we are doing whenever we go in. Right now, he’s their single best employee in the place. Lately, the service has been going down. Also, we’ve been getting charged for weird things. I added potatoes to the cheese quesadilla this trip — they rang it up as beef fajita quesadillas. They actually brought me beef fajita quesadillas with potatoes after I said I was trying something different and meatless. :/The waiter just assumed I’d want it. He said that. There was no apology from the waiter for his incorrect assumption. The quesadilla was unreasonably soaked in grease and ½ of the potatoes were raw on the inside. They used to make fantastic breakfast potatoes any time of day. In general, the husband and I both have found the staff to not listen well and this last guy argued with my husband about what he said.(Btw — sitting right there, I heard my husband and he was right. As a wife, it’s our duty to let them know when they’re wrong, right? :P) Dude — there’s no reason to say«that’s not what you said» to my husband when he corrects his order after you repeated it back to him. The food quality is also going way downhill. My husband spent a good amount of time on the last several visits picking his meat off the nachos to pull fat chunks off. Ugh. The only reasons we’ve still been going is that the salsa is made fresh in house and to see the wonderful guy that brings the salsa and chips to the table. On this last visit though, we called it. We’re over Serranos.

Great Prices good Food. That being said, someone randomly called me from a chilis off of foursquare and they put me in contact with them… it was a weird experience, but its weird to be called at a restaurant. The salsa is good when its not too peppery. But mostly I like this place because its always FAST, and you can get REALLY good lunch specials. I share the lunch special with my wife sometimes and it ends up costing us like $ 7

Been coming here for years and we love it. Always our go to place when we can’t decide what we want. We are from Texas and good Tex-Mex is a must. There are a few requirements that make a great place verses a no go place. 1. Homemade tortillas 2. Spicy and homemade salsa 3. Great migas 4. Grilled and tasty fajitas 5. Cheese enchiladas with real cheese 6. Vegetarian enchiladas with a kick 7. Fresh ingredients that haven’t been sitting out. Serrano’s has it all!

I’ve been to Serrano’s numerous amounts of times in the last couple of years. What can I say I love thier food, drinks, and prices. Today I went for lunch with my Mom. You can’t beat two entrees and two sides for $ 7.99. I ordered the chicken soft taco, beef chalupa and rice and charra beans. I thought the chicken soft taco was mediocre. I’m not a huge fan of chicken soft tacos anyway but I thought the chicken could be better seasoned. I do like that you can taste the«flavor of the grill.» The beef chalupa was over flowing off of the shell. I thought the ground beef was perfectly seasoned but thought they could have added more cheese and the shell was also a little soggy but still real good. I also had the queso perfecto. This has always been one of my favorites. I love how chunky and thick the cheese is without tasting to cheesey if you get what I’m saying. The service was good. We were in and out within my hour lunch break limit. The hostess was a bit slow. You can tell he is new though. He answered a phone call instead of seating about 3 tables worth of people in line. The chips and salsa guy was awesome. He constantly checked to make sure our salsa and chips were full to the brim. Thanks Serranos for another delicious and quick lunch.

The service is the worst. I’ve actually been a few times because the food is yummy and it’s in my neighborhood, but I have to say something because the service is ridiculous. No manager on duty, two hours before closing we were one of four tables in the place. They turned customers away saying they were closed(one hour before their posted hours) but even though they were well staffed, still managed to ignore us because they all cared more about getting their closing chores done. Order was wrong, drinks served after our food arrived, and took forever to get the bill. You’re much better off getting their food to-go!

I’m on a quest to find some great new haunts in my new neighborhood. Unfortunately, Serranos didn’t quite fit the bill. We were a group of three seated promptly around 7 on a Tuesday night. Our server greeted us quickly and took a drink order. That was about the end of promptness for the night. Our margaritas took 5 – 7 minutes to get, our waters sat empty, and it was about 15 minutes before we ordered. Once we finally got our food, Virginia saw that she received the wrong sauce on her enchiladas. She said it wasn’t a big deal, but she wanted a side of the correct sauce, which she never received. My chicken and cheese quesadillas were basically a half grilled, empty tortilla. Then we received our check(which also took a while) and saw that our margaritas were priced incorrectly. Overall, the food and drinks were mediocre and the service was friendly but slow. With so many other good places around, I see no need to go back.
