first couple of deliveries were good. Last night I was delivered the most disgusting pizza. It was a cold soupy mixture in the middle. Never ordering from them again

MAJORNOMS. After hearing a little bit about this place from friends and Austin vegan blogs, I decided to give it a try. Wednesdays they offer Daiya vegan cheese FOFREE so of course I made sure Conans was in my Wednesday night dinner plans. I only had to look at the menu for 10 seconds before settling on the«Don’t Choke Art» pizza and I’m glad I did! Deep dish(yum) delicious sauce(yum) and awesome toppings that went so well together(yum). PLUS vegan cheese at no cost to me(extra yum). The small deep dish was enough for me and I even have leftovers for dinner tonight. The only hiccup was trying to pay for the pizzas once my friend and I got there. They were unable to split the orders for us to each pay for our own pizzas because they weren’t rang up sep — my bad for not telling them. Now I know. I was so impressed with my pizza. With every bite I was more in love than the last bite. I’m a huge sauce person(it’s my favorite part of the pizza) and their sauce has the perfect flavor… not too sweet and not too salty, a perfect balance. Thankful this place exists and that I live so close(this could be dangerous).

I used to work here and so did my brother. This was the only pizza in town for me for many, many years. But having worked behind the counter I can say that I will never eat there again. It is good pizza and I do not know of another Chicago style pizzeria in Austin. But the way the management treats their employees is so horrendous I really cannot find it in myself to give them any money. I felt that way and my brother had an equal experience so it must be habit with them. They pretty nearly ruined pizza for me.

Really good pizza. The deep dish savage on wheat is an experience not to be missed. We called ahead for reservations for a group of twelve and were well accommodated. The first pizza was waiting for us when we got there. The beer on tap was cold and there were a few decent choices. The price is a little high, but not bad. The tab had the staff a little confused.

Conan’s offer a great vegan pizza with deep dish crust. The interior is decorated with classic Conan the Barbarian comic book and Frank Frazetta art. Staff were very friendly and accommodating though one guy behind the cashier made a smart ass comment when I asked if the tap beers were vegan. I don’t think he knew I heard him. Vegans will need to go to exclusive vegetarian/vegan food establishments to avoid any flack, but Conan’s offers a uniquely Austin experience and the vegan pizza was great.

If Conans Pizza Central was the last restaurant in all of Austin, I would rather forage for berries in the forest than return to this horrifically terrible place. I would feel guilty giving this pizza to a homeless man or woman because instead of alleviating their hunger, it would only forcibly remove what little food they have in their stomach. It. Is. Horrible. It is not even worthy of being compared to the atrocious fast food pizza chains nearby such as: Pizza Hut, Domino’s, or Papa Johns. It’s not even close, and that’s really saying something. Unlike fast food, which can have a certain self-destructive satisfaction while drunk late at night, Conans will give you a horrible stomach ache, and make you wish you remained hungry. Before I elaborate, I want to say that I only write these kinds of reviews if I feel extremely strongly about something for better or worse. And unfortunately, this place was definitely for worse. They recommended that I try their speciality, the deep dish pizza. Hold on for a moment while I gather my wits and stop laughing to myself at the abuse of that word«deep dish». In Conan speak, «deep dish» is excessive amounts of undercooked pizza dough, so that you are eating at least 3 times more dough than you are any other ingredient on the pizza. The cheese quickly coagulated into a thick sheet of plastic over the pizza sauce, which tasted like that generic pasta sauce they sell at Costco in those giant plastic canisters. Absolutely nothing appetizing about it. It was cut poorly, and when I tried to serve myself a piece of pizza, the entire plasticky sheet of cheese came off at once, leaving me with a slab of dough in my hand that was about 60% cooked with some unappealing looking red sauce painted on the undercooked part. Unfortunately for me, I purchased a large pepperoni pizza. I figure, if I’m going to try a new place, I might as well go all in, right? Well, this time, very very wrong. That large pizza was the size of a medium pizza anywhere else in town, if not smaller, and is by far the most expensive large pizza I’ve ever ordered in Austin for the size. It was almost $ 10 more than a large pizza at Home Slice Pizza, which is far far better in every single imaginable way. Come to think of it, this place is the worst pizza I have ever had at a restaurant. Even those mini pizza huts in Target that serve the microwaved personal pizza’s are better. Hell, even my half-hearted efforts to make pizza at home were better than this. It is a wonder that such a place can stay in business in a city that is known for exquisite food. I’m only one person, but I have to say: I feel bad for anyone who thinks this place makes good pizza. With so many better options out there(home slice, Salvatore’s, Domino’s, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Austin Pizza), there’s just no reason for this place to exist. My undercooked Conans pizza gave me a stomach ache, and the pain is starting to kick in. It’s time to take a few tums and go to bed. If you’re looking for pizza, I guarantee that if you close your eyes and put your finger on any other pizza restaurant in all of Austin, it will be better than this.

I was already pretty much in love with this place because they make an awesome wheat crust vegan pizza. However when I ordered for delivery today, apparently they were on a shift change and my order got overlooked. After more than an hour, I called to see what was up. They had to scramble, and in the end the pizza was really late. BUT the delivery guy was super nice and very apologetic. And later I found a voicemail from the manager who had decided to comp the whole thing. I told him I thought half-price would have made up for it, but he insisted. Thanks again to the nice people at Conans! I’ll be back :)

Late night pizza on our trip to Austin. The vegan deep dish pizza I ordered was so amazing. This is my favorite pizza place, hands down.

My first deep dish experience was at this location in while attending UT a long, long time ago. I just loved it and continued making it a point of visiting whenever I returned to Austin. My last couple of trips, I went to a popular NY style place over on S. Congress instead, so I was eager for a return trip to Conan’s! Well, it was pretty disappointing. The bread to toppings/sauce ratio was horribly wrong and the pie was not at all what I remembered. I don’t know if it’s just me, or if things have changed that dramatically. It may be a while before I go back.

I love Conans. Conans Pizza that is. But I recently decided to try their wings since I was craving some chicken wings. I was skeptical about ordering wings at a pizza place, but the cashier assured me they were great. The wings were dripping with oil/grease, slimy, and soft as if they were undercooked. There was not buffalo flavor to the wings at all. It tasted like a bag of frozen wings was speed thawed and dipped into a pit of grease. If it weren’t for the accompanying bleu cheese dip they would have been practically inedible. Will return for Pizza, as it is good and a great value, but I would advise against ever ordering their wings.

We ordered the medium deep dish Vege Pizza with a wheat crust. It was delish! I enjoyed the vintage Fantasy art posters, Conan comic book resin tabletops, and 70’s wooden paneling/accents throughout.

While I’ve not visited this location, I’ve ordered delivery several times. Each time I’ve ordered food, it has been consistently delicious, and has generally arrived just a little bit sooner than promised. From what I’ve seen, the attitude of the delivery folks has been«I’m going to be a friendly as possible to you while you sign for your order, at which point I’m going to get the hell out of here». This says to me that they are very busy delivering tasty food, but also have a culture good food and customer service. I’ve had a lot of pizza in this town, but the pizza, calzones, & wings that this place is making has been consistently better than anything else I’ve had in Austin. I’m not sure how to quantify this, however I don’t have the strongest stomach in the world, and sometimes feel funny after eating greasy/shitty food. While I have at times felt inclined to take a nap after eating Conan’s, I’ve never felt sick! Y’all have my business, just please don’t forget to bring pizza sauce the next time I order a calzone! Fortunately I had some marinara on hand this time :)

I hate to do this to you Conan’s, but you kinda ruined my day… There’s no shortage of great vegan pizza in Austin, and I love deep dish so I’ve been to Conan’s a few times and have generally been impressed(besides the time my pizza was completely forgotten in the oven and was served charred black, but I requested to have it remade, got a great pizza back, and I’m not one to hold a grudge). On Saturday, I went in and ordered a large vegan pizza, specifically requested vegan cheese, and got what I thought was a vegan pizza. I ate two slices in the(dimly lit) restaurant, and a couple more in my(also dimly lit) home as leftovers on Sunday. Monday(today) comes around, I have some slices packed for my lunch, and in my well-lit office, I see that my pizza has a bunch of little pieces of ham hanging out under the cheese. Maybe I threw off the staff by ordering a pizza with pineapple on it? Maybe it was busy and ham got in the sauce or other toppings before my pizza got made? I don’t care. My lunch was ruined, I feel sick to my stomach, and I will NEVER eat at Conan’s again. This is not the type of mistake I will put up with. Vegans, FYI, beware. Toppings go under the sauce so you won’t notice mistakes until too late.

So glad I found this place, after several attempts at finding good pizza in West Campus and kinda striking out.(I won’t name names, but there is some bad pizza ’round here) This place does both thin and thick crust so well, I find myself having a hard time choosing between them. Sauce is just the right pH. Oh, and the atmosphere is great for dining out, too! Classic dimly lit, wood-paneled college pizza shop vibe, complete with comic art on the wall and a pinball machine in the corner.

I only had 3 slices of their medium, deep-dish, veggie supreme, and I’m kinda stuffed. And I can eat! Lol. Pretty good schtuff. Dig it. Will probably come back. And they have a crane game! Lol. The place is cool, plenty of Conan the Barbarian artwork all over(haha). Sauce was sexy, nice consistency. Liked the vegan cheese. Their wheat and white dough/bread are vegan. Veggies were fresh to boot.

I feel like a lot of people write off Conan’s by west campus for deep dish(location IS a little tucked), but it is. so. good. Deep dish has the perfect amount of sauce, the seating is cozy.

Conan’s has the best deep dish pizza that I’ve ever had! I’ve been twice now and it only got better the second time. I haven’t tried anything but the deep dish and there is no reason for me to deviate. It’s just that good! The pepperoni deep dish with a Topo Chico on the side make for a perfect pizza night. Both locations have plenty of seating and friendly staff.

I love pizza. However, I only allow myself to indulge in it’s ooey gooey goodness… quarterly. I have a figure I’m watching out for, ok? Don’t hate. Hands down… THEBESTVEGANPIZZA/ALMOST VEGANPIZZAEVVVVVVVVVVVER. They have all the regular toppings you could want, plus completely vegan cheese options… or a soy cheese version that has casein in it. Personally… I prefer the soy — and typically… soy cheese doesn’t do jack for me. It’s deep dish… and they, honestly have the best damn wheat crust I have EVER eaten. One of my best friends comes into town every so often… it is our tradition to hit up Conan’s as our first meal of his visit. They haven’t let us down yet… and I really hope they never do.
