Frogs has kind of turned into a must stop for my husband and I when we leave the lake. It’s located on Hudson Bend Road about a mile or 2 off of 620 and is kinda of one of those places that you just have to know about. We have 2 sets of friends that keep their boats down at some of the marinas down the road and they turned us on this Frog’s. It’s definitely a locals kind of spot and everyone seems to know everyone. If you aren’t local or don’t know anyone no worries because everyone here is super friendly! They have cold beer on draft from Infamous Brewery right down the road, which is super tasty! The bartenders can make a great drink for you as well. They have pool tables and a juke box too so you can play your favorite tunes! FYI — it is a dive bar here, so nothing fancy going on, but that is absolutely one of things that makes this place so comfortable and great! Also since it is outside of Austin city limits there is smoking allowed inside. If you happen to be out this way, I would absolutely stop at Frog Pool Hall for a cheap drink and a good time!

Great local neighborhood dive bar! This is my favorite bar. My husband and friends and I always have a great time when we come here. We have made so many friends here too. My birthday was on a Wednesday this year and Frog’s is the spot I wanted to go to. They close at midnight on Wednesday and Jose, the owner, kept the bar open another hour for my birthday! Awesome place, fun people, dance the night away at Frog’s!

So. Lakeway doesn’t exactly have a huge thriving bar scene. but there are few awesome spots if you know where to look. I know a few locals who turned me onto this joint and I cant thank them enough. The bar is filled with folks that live close by and everyone seems so friendly and like they are having the best time ever. This bar has that smoky old fashioned atmosphere that is missing from so many places. The beer selection is great as they have Infamous beers on tap. They are actually just down the street from the Infamous brewery and its definitely benefiting their awesome selection. If you happen to be driving by here do yourself a favor and stop in. meet the regulars but the locals some shots and learn a bit about the culture of Lakeway!

If you are looking for a laid back place to hang out and have a beer than this is a great option. Definitely fits the dive bar category but I enjoy a place that can own its identity and not try to be something else. Options for pool, darts, live music, etc and the staff is nice and friendly. It’s also great that they serve up local brews from the brewery down the road — Infamous.

Bar awesome, bartenders awesome, the fact they play from a jukebox is cool. If you want an awesome laid back place, to have some drinks then this is the place.

[Yelp 365 in 2014 Challenge — 364:365] If you like to occasionally(or often) hang at a true dive bar, Frog’s is certainly one of the best! With owner Jose’ keeping a pretty tight grip on the ship’s wheel, the atmosphere is usually(usually, I repeat) laid back, albeit sometimes quite loud from the ever-blasting jukebox and weekly live bands. With some recent renovations in past months — fresh paint on the walls, new dart boards, reorg of all pool and foosball tables and a fully re-designed legit«bar food» kitchen menu, Frog’s is better than ever. After living in Austin for about a year and a half now, I have finally found some decent wings! Not the largest ever, but nice and crisp, not overly greasy, served with tasty hot sauce on the side(unless otherwise instructed), blue cheese and tons of celery served up for a very fair price. And the pizzas… all handmade to order(they do get their dough from another source because the small kitchen doesn’t have enough space to make it) — no frozen pies at this dive dudes! Choose from one of their creations such as the«Lake Rat» or «Hippie Hollow» or build your own. All one size — large for 15 bucks! And dang good. Oh, and Philly Cheese… not to shabby! Plus more… see pics. Located just off of 620N in Hudson Bend, Frog’s is in a small strip mall, with plenty of parking, and ample space inside. A spot frequented by the locals, as well as many newcomers throughout the year — particularly in summer months when people«park it» at Lake Travis for a getaway. Part of the charm and fun of Frog’s is that you truly never know who you’ll run into. People from ALL walks of life, most of who can provide hours of interesting conversation if you please. Super friendly bartenders(be sure to say hi to my bud Brent), cheap drinks, clean ladies room, baseball cap attire almost a requirement — you bet«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» including the few wobbling barstools and the fact that yes, smoking is permitted(not bad at all during the week). So, in addition to all the good folks, there are plenty of activities including video slot machines that you can win real money from; open mic nights; pool tournaments on Tuesday nights; live music on weekends; etc. And now, Frog’s is also a great place to grab a bite to eat while sipping suds(they have Infamous on tap) or your beverage of choice. Good people, good drinks, good food = good times! Leap right in! NOTE: Even on the evenings he is absent, the almighty Jose’ is watching via camera and he absolutely does not tolerant rowdy ruckus, especially when it comes to any brawls! But… it does occasionally happen — the puffing of chests and not-so-manly growls that is. That’s why I recommend Frog’s as a Sunday through Thursday kind of place. Just sayin… but judge for yourself. ;) If you get too out-of-hand, you will get 86d… for life. For real. Thanks Jose’ and peeps for making Frog’s my favorite Lake Travis area bar… home away from home… always greeted with a smile and a huge hello! Right back at ya! Bottoms up!

Warning! Frogs is a smoker friendly dive bar! It is a 5 star place for the smokers and a 1 star if cigarettes bother you. If you don’t like smoke, don’t go. That said, this is a great little place where a few locals hang out Sunday through Thursday and the rest of the Hudson Bend shows up on Friday and Saturday. They have a great juke box with everything from Punk to Funk and the kind of old country that you either love or hate. Drinks are reasonable and the regulars are VERY friendly. You will find a good mix of locals, retired snow birds, non-English speakers, and rednecks all getting along just fine. The juke box will change from Hip-Hop to Tajano to Classic Rock then Classic Country without anyone blinking an eye. It almost feels like some kind of social experiment where you have this broad range that all just«getting along». I have met really interesting people at Frogs. A few weeks a go we met a couple that sold a software company and are tooling around in their $ 1Million RV. I have met the local landscape crews and their beer induce English compliment my beer induced Spanish creating a very interesting conversation. The guy restoring a Franklyn Loyd Wright home(including pictures on his phone) and a local competitive sailor. All you have to do is sit at the bar and say, «Hi, how ya doin» If you like bars on the dive end of the scale, Frogs is perfect for you.

Just moved to the neighborhood and visited this awesome local bar on Saturday night! They had a great band playing, crispy and fresh chicken wings, cheap drinks and super friendly environment. The owners came to where we were sitting and introduced themselves. We had a nice chat with one of them and we stayed a little longer to play some pool and hang out with the band!

Watch out for the flys… bar flys that is! Great prices on cold drinks, the owner, Jose, is a legit individual that knows what running a bar is all about: 1) Keeping drinks cheap 2) Plethora of activities(pool tables, foosball, jukebox, live music, electronic gambling) 3) Keep the crowd diverse, and FRIENDLY So with that 3-point recipe, he brings in Wolf… yes, I said Wolf… Wolf is the muscle. Wolf use to play bass with Stevie Ray Vaughan, no shit. Wolf is the the kind of friendly giant that doesn’t need to do anything to keep the peace… but if someone arrives drunk, and acts silly, he will punish them, and it is kind of entertaining to watch. I would not recommend this place to watch your FAVORITEGAME that you must catch every second since they only have smaller TVs wall mounted, but in a pinch, it would work. Additionally, Twila is now serving up greasy awesome bar food. Wings, burgers, etc. In closing, I’d like to give you an idea of what type of bar owner Jose is. If its a friday/saturday night and the patrons have been having a great time getting slizzard… he will order up some pizzas to be delivered and just walk around offering up slices for free. Pretty freaking awesome.
