I’m not sure if you should call these concoctions doughnuts or toppings with a side of doughnuts. I was overwhelmed by the amount of tops on top. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE my NaNa Puddin’ but I was full before I even got to the dough. Not to say The Puddin was bad. It certainly wasn’t. It was just a little too much for me, taking the 5th star and sacrificing it as a doughnut topping instead of a rating. Come prepared to share or die of a heart attack.

My love of donuts took me to a place where everything is served with a donut. This is my dream come true. With so many options it was hard to choose. I ended up getting the dirty south. Starting from the bottom there was a donut(which was more of a biscuit consistency that a typical donut), the came a potato cake, on top of that was a large fried chicken breast all smothered in chicken gravy and finally topped off with an amazing jelly. One of the best things I have eaten in a long time. My girlfriend got the plain Jane burger. The burger was sandwiched between two whole donuts and cooked to her liking. It was juicy and just tasted plain amazing. For being out of towners, this is a great novelty spot to hit up.

The food is good, their servings are huge, and the total for two servings was only $ 14.48! This is a great place to bring a group and share. We got a savory and a sweet option, the Mother Clucker(4.5 stars), which takes 15 – 20 minutes, and the Granny’s Pie(4 stars). Both were great, the donut soft and moist with a crisp outer layer. The chicken was also surprisingly moist.

Been here twice! Still so good! I got the ‘What the peach!’ And shared it since it’s quite big! Can you say, heaven! I wish I could have tried more items on the menu but we had a meal before and this was just dessert! Will definitely be back when I road trip here again!

My favorite desert place in Austin. It’s a place that you’ll be hooked and crave anytime of the day. My favorite is the flying pig, crunchy bacon pieces with maple sugar with fresh fried big fat donut was amazing. Miss shortcake is my #2. Fresh sweet strawberries and cram are very matchy and tasty. I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but anything I have had always hit the spot. Soo delicious.

I wish there was an option to order half an order for two reasons; one so it’s not sweet overkill and two, so I could try multiple flavors, but mainly because it’s just a bit much. I had the Cinnamon with Peaches after much debates from just the regular cinnamon. It was delicious, but just to make it clear, there are NO actual peach pieces. bummer

We visited three times in 24 hours!!! That’s how good this spot is. 1st attempt was a late night on National Donut Day… BAD idea. Extremely long lines killed the desire. 2nd attempt was a spontaneous trip for breakfast the following morning… No wait and fantastic service! 3rd attempt was again a late night and over a 45 minute wait! So worth it! I recommend the Miss Shortcake, ODB and Mother Clucker!

Fat Elvis donut FTW I decided to celebrate National Donut Day a day late and came to Gourdough’s for something good. Gourdough’s food truck is located in a food truck lot on 1st St & Monroe, right across the street from Seventh Flag Coffee(I went across the street to get a cup of Joe, it’s good, too!!) The claim posted on the side of the truck says, «BOG.FAT.DONUTS.» And that’s no lie! They have almost 30 different variations to choose from, ranging from sweet to savory. I got the Fat Elvis which, as the name implies, is a donut topped with homemade peanut butter icing, fresh grilled bananas, grilled bacon, and honey. Super delicious… and MESSY!!! Hana but no worries, they have napkins and hand sanitizer for your use. There are a bunch of picnic tables to sit at with umbrellas for shade. The parking lot is of a reasonable size and finding parking on this late Saturday morning was no problem. If the lot does fill up, there is street parking to the west of 1st.

This popular donut food truck is located in a food truck plaza on the corner of two very busy streets. Parking is incredibly hard to find, and you’ll probably be much safer if you park on the street and walk over to Gourdough’s. Menu is actually quite extensive for their many combinations of gourmet donuts. And for the size of these donuts — I’d say the price is justified! Line wasn’t too long when I came on a Tuesday afternoon. I ended up ordering just the Nutty Valentine, but for some reason the worker forgot about my order. It wasn’t until I saw that people ordering after me were receiving their donuts while I was still waiting. The woman helping me was quick to remedy the situation and in less than 5 minutes called my name. She ended up giving me a second donut on the house for the wait, which was amazing! It ended up working out for the best since I am not a fan of Nutella. My friend ended up taking that donut and I got to try Granny’s Pie. These donuts are cake-y on the inside, but fried to a golden crisp on the outside. Then the toppings of your choice are slathered on top, giving you a really enormous calorie-filled dessert. Nutty Valentine: The donut was slathered with Nutella, and piled on top were tons of slices of fresh strawberries. My friend liked it, but I didn’t like this one at all. Taste was good, but I didn’t like the Nutella with the donut. Granny’s Pie: Probably not the donut I’d order on my own, but it came with cream cheese icing, caramel sauce, bits of graham crackers, and bananas and pecans. Loved the cream cheese and donut, but not too big of a fan of the bananas and pecans. For some reason I kept getting an artificial cardboard taste — not sure if it came from the caramel sauce or from the other donut, but the aftertaste did not taste good; however, eating it the next day, that weird taste was gone. Overall, the combination is pretty unique if you’re a fan of bananas and caramel. The bits and pieces of graham crackers give the donut unique texture, and the pecans do add an extra crunch. If I had ordered on my own and gotten something just for my own taste buds, I’d probably have gone with Miss Shortcake, Sin-a-Bomb, Naughty and Nice, or Mama’s Cake. Not sure if I’ll be back in Austin anytime soon, but if I am — I’m definitely making a stop here and ordering something that I know I will love.

Good Lord! I am still fantasizing about these donuts! Forget Voodoo, forget every other donut you’ve ever had because this will blow them all away! From out of town, and our taxi driver from the airport told us about this place. My friend and I knew we had to try it once we saw all the great Unilocal reviews. And this place did not disappoint!!! Menu is large and amazing. I really wanted one with cream cheese frosting, and got the one topped with bananas, graham cracker and caramel(forget the name) — it was drowning in caramel, which was a little off-putting but I still ate almost the whole thing. The donut was fresh, and HUGE. The icing was tasty and the contrast of fresh banana was nice. Definitely worth a stop, but plan your meals accordingly!

These are some crazy doughnuts! The combinations they come up with are off the wall. The portions are huge and they are extremely sweet. I’ve never come across another place that has doughnuts like Gourdough’s. Gourdough’s is definitely a must try.

Oh jeez, I had just annihilated several tacos at Torchy’s and I did not realize how massive these doughnuts were. I feel like I’m STILL full from the weekend! I ordered the Flying Pig, which is a fresh doughnut with maple icing covered with a mountain of crispy bacon. This doughnut was freshly made. The icing was sweet and mixed well with the bacon. It’s hard to believe that a food truck is capable of creating such doughnuts! Gordough’s is a great truck to try if you find yourself in Austin! Be sure to come hungry.

I love pastries and I’m a son about it. It can’t be any olé thing adding some fluff to these thighs. A local recommended this place and I didn’t have much to go on other than they make donuts. I wasn’t really trying to go out of my way to find it so I actually saw a bunch of food trucks in a lot and pulled in. I walked over to see the menu on the side of the truck. Almost everything had icing on it. I don’t like overly sweet. I love coconut and peanut butter. I was torn between the ‘Naughty and Nice’ or the ‘ODB’. The lady at the counter said that I should go for the latter because I love coconut. ODB is donut holes topped with cream cheese icing, coconut cream filling, and fresh coconut. There’s a little bit of a wait since they make everything as ordered. It’s fairly affordable. I got my donut holes pipping hot and smothered in all the goodness that was coconut icing and cream cheese and coconut flakes. It is SOSWEET. Think icing. It is so damn delicious though!!! Oh my word! I just sat there and shoveled half of it into my face until I couldn’t do it anymore. I would say get some milk(if you’re not lactose intolerant and/or don’t hate milk) to wash it down with. How I wish I lived in Austin because I’d do 100 burpees a day to have an ODB a week!

If you can ever think of your most favorite sugar sweet tooth cravings all in the most dressed up doughnut– then Gourdough’s is your spot. Between the most creatively named doughnuts such as ‘Son of the Peach’ to ’ Heavenly Hash’ –they got your apples, your chocolate fudge icing, and your blueberry filling all on this trailer menu and your mouth is going to be drooling and you will be hyped up to get SUGAR high. This was my first stop for FOOD when I landed in Austin, and ah, I do not regret it. I wish I could come back every day but my stomach may not agree– but it’s definitely a sugar sweet must do. Come with a group and order many different doughnuts to share and don’t forget to dip the people doing that work adding the toppings of bananas, oreos, and coconuts. If you are a fried chicken fan and like to take a dare to mix up your flavors go with the Mother Clucker made with honey butter. If you are not leaving with a doughnut — then you are a not being a great friend/family member/co-worker because this is the best gift you can give! It also can be a hilarious gift to give considering the names of the doughnuts! Feel free to buy and toss in a ‘Funky Monkey’ tee as these trailers are no jokes and they sell items too! If you wanna do wanna be super SWEET like these doughnuts– Gourdough’s does cater — so I would say ‘Move over Cake, Cupcakes, and Cake pops– Gourdough’s is coming to my party!’ Until we meet next time, Gourdoughs, I’ll miss you.

I’m sure that by now everybody and their brother knows about this infamous spot. The reason everyone knows about it is because it’s awesome, obviously. I always worry that places like this will have all of these fun topping ideas, but the actual donut will not be good. Definitely not the case at Gourdough’s. This spot is a winner because they are starting with a great donut and then adding creativity with their delicious combinations. The combinations offer something for everyone. There are toppings with meat, icings, fruit, sprinkles, nuts, and so many more. I like the way that they combine some of the toppings as well. When I visited I had the Mother Clucker. I can’t pass on a good variation on chicken and waffles. Their variation is that they start with a large, buttery, flaky donut and top it with a nice fried chicken breast cut into strips. On the side is honey butter for some more decadence. My friend had Sara’s Joy. I sampled that and loved the sweet combination as well. Pricing is pretty reasonable for the donuts with lots of toppings and donuts are pretty large to start with. The area around the truck offers a few tables to hang out and enjoy your delicious donuts. This is not your basic donut, it’s so much more.

Must try Gourdough’s donut! Not sure how you can finish the entire donut yourself because it screams diabetes, hypertension and heart attacks, it is best to share with friends. Although it is WAY too sweet for my liking, it completes the Austin food experience. We tried the Granny’s pie, which has banana and caramel on top of the donut. Awesome presentation, fresh bananas and graham crackers crumbs. Taste-wise, I am not sure what I could taste because it was overwhelmingly sweet… The only taste I could differentiate is the fresh banana and the doughy taste of the donut, everything else is just sweet. The texture of the donut is a little hard, which prevented it becoming soggy with all the toppings and sauce on it. Gourdough’s donuts are visually stunning, will definitely satisfy your eyes, and maybe palate if you are a super sweet tooth!

Gourdough’s doughnuts keep AUSTINWEIRD… and unforgettably sweet ;) GRANNY’S PIE(4⁄5): Very sweet, with the cream cheese and caramel. But doughnuts are made for the sweet tooth, right? :) The giant pile of banana slices were nice, because they added a good texture to the doughnut, dampened the sweetness, and also made us feel kind of «good» about devouring this monster. The doughnut itself had a good texture — fluffy and chewy. 5 of us shared the doughnut. I applaud(and am kind of scared for) people who are able to finish one of these by themselves. This monster weighs a good 1 – 1.5lb. The server was super nice and our order was ready and warm to eat within 10 minutes. We ate it on the benches next to the food truck.

Wow. Just, wow. This place is good. I had the Granny’s Pie donut, and highly recommend it to everyone if you are looking through the Unilocal reviews trying to find which donut you should eat. I love that they have a full bar, and a wide variety of mixed cocktails. Additionally they have an entrée menu that combines hearty meals with the sweet softness of their donuts. Although I did not have the pleasure of eating one of their sweet/savory meals, my friend said that they are incredible. In regard to service, I went twice during down times and had poor service each time. Bar staff was a little dismissive. Never asked if we wanted to order, never offered water, etc. When we asked for plasticware our server was a little upset and told us it was self serve. Now we know for he future :) This place has a unique set up, and unlike most places in Austin, is not extremely packed. I highly recommend that you make a stop here

Now this place lives up to the hype! Located in a lot with a few other food trailers with seating you can grab some of the most creative, delicious donuts you can find. They do have some savory donuts as well as sweet. The portions are huge. You can share them easily. I had the grandma’s pie, cream cheese caramel, banana, and some nuts or something. It was amazing! One of the best that I’ve ever had. I would love to try the others. They do a great job here in making the unique donuts here and you definitely should check them out!

Need to satisfy your guilty pleasure for dessert? Gourdough’s is the place to go for your happy ending treat. I was a bit skeptical about the food truck being so good(based on reviews), but they won me over from the first bite. I hope my experience for my future return will be better than the first. Luckily I was the first one at the start of a long line that was piling up, the employees were working out a system issue and had to grab cash to provide change to customers. After waiting 10 minutes, I ordered the ‘The Puddin’ and expected fast service since I was the first in line. After waiting 40 minutes, I was frustrated over seeing other customers receive their orders while still patiently waiting for mines. After asking the employee twice about my order, one of the workers gave me a free donut dessert for my troubles and immediately made my original order. After the long wait and anticipation, the first bite was warm and melted in my mouth. Donut had a yeast consistency, but with the combination of ingredients it had a moist cake texture that complemented everything else for the perfect foodgasmic feeling. With the abundant options available on their menu, how can you not love this place and find an item to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings?
