Gutter Tech

I’ve used Gutter Tech on several projects at both my house and my business location. Brad and his crew are always professional, honest, fairly priced and reliable. And nice.
I’d recommend them to anyone.

Great job at a great price! I had a huge job and he was very reasonably priced and my house has withstood actual rain with my great seamless gutters.

I should have written this review four years ago when I first found Gutter Tech through Unilocal and used them for my gutter installation. But here I am, four years later, getting some more gutter work done by GT.
I called up GT last week to schedule an estimate on some final work I needed done. When they installed my gutters before I had a patio cover that attached to my roof, but since then have taken it down.
Brad, the owner of the company, came out himself to take a look at the project and quote me a price. Before we even made it to the backyard he noticed some issues with my present gutters, which his company installed. He obviously takes his work seriously. He saw that some of them were pulling away from the roof. No fault of his own, but an issue caused by my home not having gutters for thirty years and the substrate he had to work with really was kind of crappy.
He started mentioning we should do a little ‘refab’ work on the old gutters as well as install the new. And of course I’m thinking, ‘here we go’ the bill is just going to get bigger and bigger. But it didn’t. He quoted me the price my new gutters would cost and dropped it. Said he was glad I used him again and that was how he liked to treat his regular clients.
Then we just stood around shoot the sh%$, talking about everything but gutters. He’s a good ol boy that you just want to invite into your home and have a beer with.
Brad shoots it straight and does great work. And if he thinks he hasn’t done the best work, his word is as good as the warranty that his gutters already have.
And apparently he also does roofing, painting, and any number of other projects.

Do not use Gutter Tech Austin. Buyer Beware.
Gutter Tech’s work was substandard in numerous ways.
The most, the very most, important competency for a gutter company is to be able to design and install gutters that don’t leak and will handle the water runoff load for the particular roof.
On my home, the one area where it was absolutely essential that the gutters work, was the back terrace.
Gutter Tech advised 5″ gutters would adequately handle the roof drain volumes. I disagreed and ordered 6″ gutters. Even with six inch gutters, the gutters over the terrace stairs constantly leak.
The gutter leaks at the terrace because Gutter Tech did not design a proper turn and transfer in the gutter assembly over the terrace stairs.
The very reason I am writing this review today is because I am having to take time out of my week to hire another gutter company to repair Gutter Tech’s work.
Gutter Tech workers misrepresented their customer list causing me to have confidence in their work that was not deserved. They do not have the credibility with production builders they assert.
Gutter Tech workers cut trim where all they had to do was move the concrete pad below the gutter down-​pipe. This necessitated my having to open up a new job to make carpentry repairs including painting.
Gutter Tech does not take responsibility for their defective work. When we got into the early stages of a dust-​up over the cost of repairs and the amount to adjust their bill, Gutter Tech rushed straight to the Courthouse and filed a mechanic’s lien on my home. Rather than adjust their bill by one penny, Gutter Tech took harsh legal action.

Oh, as a final notice on this company, please see that Gutter Tech’s web site conceals all owner and management information. They start hiding from who they are even before their first direct with their customers.

We got three bids: Guttertech, Austin Gutterman, and Austin Gutter King. We chose Guttertech based on price and my bias for smaller companies (if they seem trustworthy).
Guttertech pro:
+ It’s a small operation, so Brad, the owner, did the estimate, answered technical follow-​up questions, and supervised the work. I like dealing with one person, especially when that person knows all aspects of the operation.
+ On a per-​foot basis, they were cheaper than the big guys. (Though it was hard to compare, as each estimate covered a different amount of work — I was getting talked into more work with each subsequent estimate.)
+ Brad is honest and knowledgable. He talked me into a complete system plus flashing, but without any pressure, and I’m glad he did.
+ They took their time and did a good job, plus some extras. One of the guys took pictures of some stucco damage that was only visible from the roof and Brad explained how I could fix it, and told me he could recommend somebody if I wasn’t comfortable doing it myself. Brad also swung by during the first rainstorm since he was in the neighborhood to make sure there were no leaks. (I think it helps that I got the work done in the off-​season and they all had a little spare time.)
+ They fixed a mistake promptly and completely. One downspout was in the wrong location, so they had to replace a long run of gutter and patch/​paint the holes. They did that on the next dry day.
Guttertech con:
+ It took a week to get the initial estimate, and another week to get an update after I asked for clarification. (It was the holiday season, so they may have been taking some time off.)
+ They missed their first installation date because the prior job ran long. But Brad called to let me know they weren’t going to make it on time, and they were on time the next morning.
+ Brad is very personable, so if you let him, he’ll talk your ear off. This could be a «pro» instead of a «con» except that I almost missed a meeting while chatting. :-)

We had a very good experience with this company, and we have been very happy with our gutters. Brad, the owner, is very nice and will help you in any way he can.
