Last minute choice for dinner while I’m stuck in a hotel and so happy I went there. Great food, cold drinks and pleasant waitress. What else could you ask for. Loved the enchiladas.

If you are stuck at a hotel and don’t want to hassle with traffic to get a quick bite this is the place. Tex-Mex has to have key ingredients to be really good, fresh home made tortillas, good tasty rice, and fresh tasty beans. They fell short by the beans and home made tortillas as beans tasted a little burnt. The salsa was fresh chunky and tasty, chips fresh and hot, lettuce, tomatoes also fresh and Crispy. The décor is modern and Austin weird with a Art Deco spin so take my advise go simpler and invest in paying some granny to make those fresh tortillas and better beans. The place is very clean and staff very nice and friendly, back kitchen runs a bit slow but ok. Price very good and cheap. Easy to get to from Hilton hotel Airport by car.

Walked in a 20 minutes till closing and was told they would only serve us take out. Horrible why have a closing time. Needless to say we left discouraged and mad. Please bear this mind when going to this restaurant. They cost themselves 80 – 100 dollars not very smart!

Came back for a second time this week while in town for business. I could have went 100 other places, but I appreciate the attention to detail and freshness of their entries. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. I wish I didn’t live a 1000 miles away, I’d be here all the time!

Breakfast tacos were delicious and only $ 1.89 for a nice size breakfast taco! Everything tastes well seasoned and fresh. Portion sizes were great and the French toast was surpassingly good.

Super close and excellent. Inexpensive food, doesn’t taste that way. Wonderful service, so friendly and always very attentive. A little bit of a drive from the city, but if you’re in the area I highly recommend.

Love that they give warm tortilla chips with a spicy salsa that taste amazing! The horchata is legit as well as the soft corn tortillas. The grilled fish wasn’t too fresh and its quality is low-grade. The service is quite poor(food delivery timing and warmness). The waitress was friendly, but since the place was understaffed she really just delivered the food to my table and immediately disappeared to tend to other customers. Good spot IF you’re staying at one of the hotels nearby(Staybridge, Courtyard, LA Quinta) and are specifically craving ‘Tex-Mex’, but wouldn’t recommend you driving more than 1.2 miles to eat here.

I LOVED the Super Bowl — rice, beans, perfectly tender pulled chicken, fresh avocado on top! Be sure to get the chipotle ranch dressing for the extra kick! Service was quick and very friendly too.

It started out great. We were greeted and seated, given chips and salsa, etc. Our food was delivered about 10 — 15 minutes later and our waitress quickly disappeared. As I was transferring some of my tomatoes onto my mom’s plate, she stopped back to stay she was sorry but had forgotten to tell the cook to exclude the tomatoes from the inside of my meal. I cut it open to check and it was stuff half with meat, half with tomatoes. She took it back leaving just my rice to eat. …which was cold. I also thought it odd that I’d never had Spanish/Mexican rice that included peas and carrots but whatever. I ate it because it was 3pm and we were finally eating lunch. By the time my meal arrived back at the table, my mom had already finished her meal. And then our waitress never came back. Not sure if she was embarrassed about the order mix-up or was just lazy. No checking to make sure we liked our meal, no beverage refills, no nothing. 20 minutes after finishing eating, she finally came around to bring boxes and our check. It’s not like they were busy. It was 3pm. When we arrived, there were only 2 other tables. A few other tables came in while we were waiting for our bill(and got served their food while we were still waiting and overheard there orders were wrong as well!). No, I cannot say I’d recommend this play unless you want to be ignored or have an incorrect order.

Happy Hour Info: Monday thru Friday 3 to 7. Prices vary on drinks! 1 dollar off appetizers. FYI if you come in Sunday around 430 or 5 your flavored margaritas are cheaper than menu price!

To begin with, the salsa here is addictive– I want to say the best I have ever had, or close to it. Chips are excellent, house margarita is average. The food is Tex Mex and it is great. I had a combo that had chicken enchiladas with chili con carne. They were quite stuffed with chicken and delicious. Served with a crispy meat taco, rice and beans, it was quite hearty and delicious. The odd thing is they dont serve sour crème chicken enchiladas. The other thing is they are in a random strip center. Food this good deserves the atmosphere of a grand hacienda to compliment it.

I always eat here when I’m in town with business. The fajita tacos are probably the best I’ve had in a long time. Only down fall is they do not come with any sides. They could use some music or background music while dining. Great chips and salsa.

What is Tex-Mex? That is the question we asked ourselves as we looked for something to eat before our flight out of Austin. Apparently it’s Mexican food with a Texan touch to it or more of a Southern touch to it. We’ve all heard of it of course but we figured we might as well try the cuisine while we were actually in Texas. We chose Javi’s purely due to its location. It was the closest to the airport and looked like it would serve up some decent food. We were right! It was fairly empty when we got there but the service was slow for some odd reason. We started with some delicious house chips and salsa. The chips were served warm which was a nice touch and the salsa had a nice spicy kick to it. We devoured them for some before our entrees. I wasn’t too hungry so I ordered a chicken wrap(beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese) while my boyfriend ordered the Edgar Enchiladas(three enchiladas with tomato sauce topped with lettuce, cotija cheese, sour cream). The enchiladas were actually pretty good. We really liked the sauce that came on top of them. It tasted just like chili! The enchiladas also came with some rice and beans which tasted alright. As for my wrap, I’ve definitely had better. It just didn’t taste all that good to me and it didn’t taste fresh. I ended up eating half of it only and tossing the rest. As far as Tex-Mex goes, I think I’ll stick to just straight up Mexican food. I don’t think I necessarily need fusion Mexican food in my life. Still, it kept us full the whole day so I guess it did hit the spot in some odd way. Worth a visit for a quick meal in the area. 3⁄5

Visited this location twice while in Austin on business. First visit, had the jefe combo enchilada platter with one each of the chicken, cheese and beef enchiladas with a taco ordered a la carte. I think the sauce you choose matters for each protein because the red sauce I chose did not go with the chicken enchilada at all. I did like that they used white meat in the chicken enchilada and overall, it was a good plate of food. The refried beans are excellent. The rice is good though I’m not a fan of peas in Mexican rice. Major points for how they serve their crispy tacos. The shell and toppings are put in a box and the ground beef is put in a plastic container – this way, you can assemble the taco at home yourself with it still being crispy, instead of having a soggy, breaking apart taco shell if it was put in the box already constructed. A brilliant idea! My 2nd visit I ordered the combo(beef & chicken) fajitas. These were good with all the fixings(guacamole, sour cream, etc), onions and peppers and flour tortillas. Very tasty though I have to knock that the chicken was in small pieces rather than long strips as I prefer. I tried their desserts and the tres leches was decent, though not the best I’ve had. Seems like a family run operation and the people who work here are friendly and do a fantastic job overall. I can’t fault the staff in any way. Recommended

I started with a top shelf Don Julio margarita and it was all gravy from there. I ordered a small guacamole because I love the stuff and had to have more than he small amount they give you with the main and it was really tasty. I had the chicken fajitas for my main course with the flour tortillas and everything was really flavorful and just plain good. Glad I stayed close to the hotel.

Been here several times. Usually the service is good. Sometimes its slow. Wish the portion sizes could be bigger. Chips are great. Salsa is great. Lunch specials are great. Have not had any alcoholic drinks yet. Bathrooms are clean. Décor is cool. Comfortable booths. You can charge your devices from outlets in the booth. Probably difficult to get a parking spot around lunch time.

Flavorful chips and salsa. Delicious carne guisada and fabulous green chile chicken enchiladas! The only complaint is their rice and beans are tasteless and most of the staff needs an attitude adjustment. Their margaritas are strong and very tasty! Only 3.50 for happy hour.

A solid establishment with good drinks, delicious food and very friendly staff. I was stuck in Austin for an extra night, and staying at La Quinta across the street. When I Unilocaled my options for dinner, I saw Javis and of course their beer ritas. No way The Waffle House, Subway or Denny’s could compete with that! Happy Hour Beer Ritas are $ 8 versus $ 9.50 regular price. Fajitas were highly recommended by the staff, so I gave the Combo a try, which is a combo of beef and chicken. Very generous servings with 6 tortillas, a plate of bean and rice, a plate of cheese, salsa, sour cream and guac and the meat served sizzling on a stone skillet. Overall a great experience, you even get unlimited chips and salsa! Yummm
