Not to be mistaken for the BBQ restaurant a few concourses down, this is more of a little wagon. I was listening to the band playing and having a beer, so naturally I needed nachos. the wait staff was spot on with all my needs the nachos were good with chili and cheese and a few jalapinos. The ratio of toppings were perfect, good portion size and great complement to the cold beer.

I Eat here everytime I travel. The pulled pork tacos are great. Clean and generous portions. If you are looking for something to hold you over til your destination… this is it.

It may may have been because it was 9:30am and I came off the plane starving but this breakfast taco was one of the most delicious things ever(more like a meat taco since I got the pulled pork and brisket).

It shouldn’t even have one star! The service was horrible! The two girls working were talking about me and my co worker in front of us. When I asked her for no cheese, she poured cheese all over my tacos. The Precious wanna be didn’t even wrap the taco just threw it in the basket. I’ve never been somewhere where I got treated so low by two rude women! I’m definitely going to take this to corporate, they overcharged me and everything.

My husband and I were in search for something to eat for breakfast. We stumbled upon breakfast tacos. This seems to be a staple for Texas and I am all in. I ordered the brisket taco with eggs and also an egg and bacon taco. It was a little pricey but it is the airport none the less. Both tacos were fully packed of delicious meat and eggs. I actually liked the bacon and egg one more but both were satisfying and on point. The tacos were very fresh as we were one of the first people in line when they opened. There is plenty of places to eat at our eat at the gate.

Great food. A Staple in Texas. You just can’t go wrong. Love the BBQ sauce and the ribs.

Perhaps the best breakfast spot at the Austin airport. There’s always a line, and there is always only one person to help the dozens of people coming through, but the brisket/egg tacos are yummy. Their tortillas are those awful store bought pasty flour ones, but the slow smoked fillings make up for it(mostly).

If you come in with the right expectations(come on, it’s airport food), this place is pretty yummy. I actually ate my sliced brisket sandwich after I landed in Dallas(~1.5 hrs later) and it was still yummy. There’s a bucket full of extra bbq sauce where you pick up your order – make sure to grab a handful!

There’s nothing better than having the ability to buy a sackful of pulled pork/chopped brisket + egg breakfast tacos right before getting on a plane at 630am to leave great state of Texas to some other ungodly wasteland of a state where they 1) have never known the true joy of breakfast tacos, and 2) their concept of «barbecue» is decidedly inferior to ours. Even though it’s obviously not up to snuff as the Salt Lick in town, BBQ breakfast tacos on a plane is pure genius.

Obviously, I’m grading on the«airport food scale» where Chili’s is a zero and Tortas Frontera in ORD is a 5+. One of the many, many things I love about AUS is the fact that the food options are almost all local. Sure, there’s an Auntie Annie’s pretzel nightmare, but there’s also Salt Lick. To be clear, there are 2 locations of Salt Lick — one is in one of the«food courts» and serves BBQ plates at very reasonable prices(for an airport). This is the small taco stand located in the big bar in the center of the terminal. Like just about every other place in the airport, they do breakfast tacos customized with your choice of fillings. For lunch/dinner, there are 4 choices — 2 kinds of brisket, chicken and pork shoulder. They’re large, generously filled and all $ 4.79/ea. I opted for a chicken and the brisket with slaw because the server kindly tipped me off that the pork«wasn’t looking so fresh». Anyway, the chicken version was«pretty good» but the brisket was AMAZING. Juicy, tender, smoky and topped with a nice crunchy cabbage slaw — really, really good. FYI, unless the menu says your tacos come with a topping, they’ll be served«naked» as in meat on a tortilla. As others have noted, probably best to stand in the line vecause the bar service is pretty terrible.

Really good for airport food. Solid choice. Portion size big. Don’t expect friendly service. My gf loved it, as did I. Stop in!

They had some great tacos at this little place in the airport. The pulled pork and egg taco I had was great, though I don’t know that I’d get it again at 6am. Staff was friendly, wait was short.

All of the lunch/dinner tacos are the same price at a bit under 5 dollars. I got the Salt Lick Carne Guisada and it was ok. It was pretty small for the price you pay. I’d suggest getting it with other garnishes as well such as lettuce and cheese as my server didn’t even ask me if I wanted anything and handed it to me with just the meat and sauce making the taco rather plain. I’d probably try out some other food places at the airport next time.

An odd little sort of fast casual inside the airport. I went to the separate area not the full section(there is both). I found the service, well if you call going up to the stand service, to be OK. In my case the girl working the register had trouble running credit cards and double charged the two people in front of me which required management intervention to correct. This made the line painfully slow. Beyond that they were out of one of the 4 choices which was sad. In the end the taco was decent, but nothing special. In a pinch I’m not sure there’s a better choice in ATX regardless of my below avg experience.

This is great! A Salt Lick Taco Stand in the food court area of the ATX airport! There is also a full Salt Lick BBQ a few gates over in case you’re not looking for breakfast tacos. Great and quick service, very little line at 7am. Got an egg, chopped brisket, and spicy BBQ sauce taco and it was delicious! And filling, they are pretty generous with the portions so one was definitely enough. My one worry about the brisket was that it would be too fatty(I know, I’m not your typical BBQ fan…). But it was perfect! Didn’t taste or see any fatty chunks so I was a happy girl. And the best part: I was going to get a gift pack of sauces and dry rub at the Salt Lick in Driftwood(visited for the full Texas BBQ experience yesterday) but didn’t want to check a bag. Then I heard there was a Salt Lick in the airport and that it would definitely be open that early bc they did breakfast tacos! That was such a welcome surprise and definitely made travel easier because I was able to get the sauces post-TSA security! :)

It was my first time at this location. for a 6am flight on a friday it had short line(whoo hoo) i got 1 ham and egg and 1 brisket and egg. Ham was good, and brisket was dry. I didnt finish either. Their salsa isnt very good, we always grab handful from next door(maudies mexican) it was good. quick. i would go back.

Where is Deirdre when you need her? I stopped here on my outbound flight a few weeks ago and my breakfast taco was no bueno. The brisket was rough and tasted like it had been sitting for a while. I couldn’t eat a lot of it. I went with the spicy bbq sauce this time and probably will revert to the original next time. I just like it better. I’ve also realized, I prefer the lunch brisket taco over the breakfast. The cabbage just tastes better than the eggs to me. I’m only downgrading my review just by one star because I still love you SLTB. Please don’t disappoint next time.

When i eat food in an airport, i’m never really expecting it to taste good. However Salt Lick does not stick to airport food standards. I got the sliced brisket sandwich. It was so good. The bread is nice and soft. The BBQ sauce is finger licking good. The beans were also pretty good. No complaints here!

Last meal in town. Trying to fill ip before the 4 hour flight home. Brisket with cabbage and a sweetish sauce? Sounds crazy but pretty good. Sauce offsets the fat and salt of the meat. Wish they heated the tortilla and that would be even better. Food is fast and workers are friendly. No frills straight forward fare

The Salt Lick Taco Bar puts Austin’s breakfast tacos to shame. Don’t go there, even if you are starving and desperate. Even though airport food tends to be kinda meh, this is really inedible stuff. Today I bought what proved to be the most disgusting excuse for a breakfast taco I have ever tasted in my life. I went for the bean and cheese. The flour tortilla was cold and maybe a bit stale. The beans were also cold. There was way too much cheese. The ‘green salsa’ I chose was a thick, avocado-ish paste that tasted of nothing in particular. None of it tasted fresh. I took two bites and gave up. I don’t know why Salt Lick would serve such crap at the airport, because this is a terrible advertisement for their just-out-of-Austin restaurant. You guys should be ashamed and clean up your act.
