KC Donuts

The donuts from here are massive, but are almost too sugary. Like it tastes fake. My husband got a ham and cheese croissant. He said they out a lot of ham on there, which he liked. But that the croissant itself wasn’t very good. The maple bacon donut was awful. We threw it away. The blueberry old-​fashioned was something I’d never seen anywhere else and pretty good. Not great. The basic glazed though, so tasty! If I went back, it would be for glazed donuts only.

I’ve been wanting to try this place, but I live north — Burnet/​Anderson area — so it’s not exactly convenient. I woke up way earlier than usual today though, so my plan was to get there shortly after they open at 6:30am, allowing me to be back on the road and home again shortly after 7. I’d miss traffic, and would get donuts! Win-​win!
Except… I got there at 6:35, to find they don’t open until 7. It turns out that the operating hours posted on Unilocal were incorrect… and this business doesn’t have a website where I could have gotten this info ‘from the source’… nor do they post their hours on their Facebook, so.
This was kind of sad, as it meant I’d have to sit around for 25 min until they open, AND would miss my magical traffic-​free window of time. Sigh. Oh well. Donuts! Everything is worth it when donuts are the reward, right?
At 7:05 they still hadn’t opened, but other cars had shown up and were waiting around too. I finally got out of my car and stood in front of the window until someone inside saw I was waiting and opened the shop. Everyone else got out of their cars and followed me in.
Once I got inside, I was a little underwhelmed. Most of the case was empty. They had… old fashioned donuts. Nothing but old fashioned donuts. Plain ones, glazed ones, chocolate and maple frosted ones, and blueberry ones. Nothing else. Where were the yeast donuts? The cake donuts? The donut holes? The donuts with sprinkles, and colors, and all sorts of magical variations I saw in the Unilocal pictures?
So, I got one each of the old fashioned, but I don’t understand why they had nothing else. Were they not ready for business this morning? Do they not offer yeast or cake donuts anymore? Either way, this was extremely disappointing to have driven an hour roundtrip, waited 30 minutes for them to open (late), only to get ¹⁄₃ of what I came for.
I don’t think I’ll be back. The old fashioneds were definitely good, but not mind-​blowing, and not better than what I can find up north. And I’m not chancing another drive like that to try to get the yeast or cake donuts if they don’t have them again.

Yes, that are very good donuts.
I usually go elsewhere for a «healthier» breakfast taco,
but in a pinch, these «down home» tacos are just fine.
The customer service here is great and if you come by
in the afternoon you might find a perk or two added to
your bag of goodies.

Morning staple; people literally drive like damned fools in the parking lot, just to get a better place in line inside.
Honestly, I have to laugh, robustly, in the face of anyone who’s ever posted a negative review of this place as it’s overtly a more poignant indictment of the reviewer’s flaws than it is a valid complaint about this universally superior bakery.
This place will cause riots one day. .. it’s seriously THAT «must have»; if you disagree it’s because you are wrong.

Best damn donuts in Austin, hands down. Their cake donuts, particularly the old fashioneds, have perfect crusts, and are filling! They always throw in a bunch of donut holes, and are super friendly.

If you order to go check your order first before u will leave!!! they will charge you for something they didn’t include and then when you go back for it they will say that you didn’t order it. go to donut taco palace were they are competent and not deceitful

Was visiting the near by babies r us and buy buy baby with the wife when we stumbled across this donut shop that had my wife’s initials so we had to stop. To our suprise they were still open so we went in. The dounut holes are huge (biggest i have ever seen), delicious and cheap. Everything in their food case looked awesome! The owner served us and was very kind, a pleasure to talk to. I noticed a trophy for the best maple bacon donut as i checked out, can’t wait to go back to try it as well as the other donuts and huge cinamon rolls.

By far the best donut in this universe. Crispy crunchy outside with silky cake center. Frosting is on point.
Not your typical donut store but its traditional and delicious.
Haven’t tried the tacos.
Get the blueberry and chocolate donut holes. Next time I’m getting a bear claw. We go here every Thursday for donut Thursday with my 2 boys. Don’t get in our way, we are on a mission.

So i just went here for the first time and my mind is blown! How did I not realize this place was in my neighborhood and so amazing! I mean as far as regular donut shops this is. as. good. as. it. gets… really! I promise.
Going forward I will drive the extra couple of miles to go here instead of the other place closer to my house.
I went in here this morning to buy donuts for the office and I told the girl that I wanted a dozen glazed and a dozen chocolate and then just a mixture of whatever to get me to my $ 25 mark. I ended up getting 3 dozen donuts for $ 22.50 … not bad at all! They also have gorgeous looking kolaches and breakfast tacos that I look forward to trying on a future visit!
The donuts were so fresh and warm! I had a glazed donut and it was the best glazed donut I have ever had! It was so warm and fluffy. So good I had to eat a second one!
For the quality and price I think you will be hard pressed to find a better deal than KC.

We came here after being disappointed that Moonlight Bakery was out of cinnamon rolls when we arrive around 2pm Saturday. KC was out too, but we tried the donut holes, maple glazed, chocolate covered and blueberry cake donuts. Everything was very tasty, had the right amount of crunch, and owner was super nice.
We’d called her and 2:15 to see if she was closing at 2:30. She happily informed us that she’s open until 3. We weren’t disappointed and will definitely come again.

Nice apple fritters and plain glazed donut holes! I liked that it had more apples than many of the other apple fritters we’ve had across town! The outside was dark and sort of crispy. I would recommend it if you’re in the area.

We moved near to this place recently and it’s been a staple now every weekend. I love the place because the donuts are always perfectly made… the texture and taste are hard to beat… and the owner and daughter team that run the place are the best. There are lot’s of donut places that are just cranking out sweet dough as this owner planted in my head… and I completely agree. These donuts are all delicious, each type of donut is unique and the textures alot of what makes them just so good in my mind. I’ve been to a lot of donut places and rarely do the owners care enough to try to make such a perfect creation as this place. And they never fall flat, the quality has been consistently great every time we’ve come. We like the blueberry, the apple fritters, the cake donuts and many others we get regularly. Also, the breakfast sandwiches are just as good and never let us down. My favorite is the sausage, egg and cheese on croissant. Always perfect. Croissant is flaky, sausage is delicious.
We’ve come here about 10 times now in the short 3 months we’ve moved here and we don’t eat out a lot, but we make it a point to start our weekends out right by coming here.
Must try and you’ll keep coming back

All i can really say is i don’t even LIKE donuts and i was stuffing my face at this joint.
There is something magical about these donuts… granted i only had the holes, but OMG they were delicious… SO delicious in fact that even me, with my salty/​savory palate was wolfing down donut holes like there was no tomorrow.
Truly amazing and when my mom and sister come to town for a visit, i’m taking them here; they’ll probably pass out from the donuts being too delicious.

KC Donuts is my absolute favorite in town. I’m a huge fan of donuts. Even more than cops and Homer Simpson.
The glaze donuts are always warm and just melt in your mouth! They contain the perfect amount of everything awesome! The cinnamon rolls and bear claws are a nice size and equally delicious!
I was a fan of the competition across the street but these guys are hands down winning! I absolutely love this place!
The staff is super friendly and always helpful.

This place used to be amazeballs.
I remember back when Shipley’s Donuts decided to open a location, directly across the street. A-​holes. I remember speaking with Mrs. O about her concerns. Well, obviously none of them came true because the line is still to the door, almost half the time I stop in. Trust me though, it’s well worth the short wait.
They carry a wide variety of donuts, including a bacon donut. They also have very, very yummy breakfast tacos made on site. If you don’t see the type of taco you want in the warming box, just ask, they’ll make you one in minutes, no problem. They have hot coffee (of course), Frappuccino style coffe drinks and a cooler full of just about whatever you want.
The only issue I’ve ever had with the place is the counter girl. She’s been there for a little while now but, to me, seems to have developed somewhat of an attitude. A while back, I went in and they didn’t have the item I wanted left in stock. So, I politely settled on something else. All in all, my total was $ 1 something. When I didn’t tip her, her whole demeanor changed. Maybe she’s always been like that? Needless to say, to this day, she still seems rude when I come in. Anyway, no big deal, right? I mean, no bitch is gonna stand between me and my KC donuts!

–The old-​fashioned taste like buttery cake drenched in thick icing [Dude, the maple old-​fashioned is my jam]
–The yeast– raised are always soft and delectable. Especially the iced ones w/​sprinkles. …And the doughnut holes. Annnnd the cinnamon rolls. MY WORD. JUST BUY ONE OF EVERYTHING.
–All the doughnuts are nice and cheap
–The only downside is due to their small staff you may not have access to the full doughnut roster if you go first thing in the morning [7 or 8 am] and sometimes doughnuts holes are the first thing they get cleaned out of in the mornings.
*Also, be mindful… if you go on a weekend morning you WILL be waiting in line. Especially when all the kids are out of school.

I’ve come here twice now in the span of a couple weeks and have to say that KC makes some of the best donuts I’ve had. Their glazed donuts are big, pillowy, and delicious. The same can be said about their glazed donut holes. In terms of size I’d guess that these glazed donuts and holes are about 50% larger than your standard Krispy Kreme equivalents. So it depends on what you prefer. I for one like this puffier style of donut.
I also had to try an old fashioned donut (with chocolate glaze) because they looked so perfect behind the glass. It tasted as good as it looked and will be hard to pass up on future visits.

Delicious bacon egg cheese croissant! And the sausage & cheese kolache hit the spot.
I loved that they use crushed ice for the iced coffee. i’ll be back!

For lack of better options due to my kid waking up past noon today (yeah she wasn’t feeling good) and me trying to be super mom. She woke up and asked me for donuts. Our closest shop was closing, so this was the next best bet. I find it interesting that a shipley’s is across the street. Direct competition.
The selection for almost 1:30 pm was good… But the and made my kid happy. I got a sausage and cheese Kolache, and tried a chocolate frosted donut. The Kolache is about average. Nothing overwhelming about it. But the frosted donut is greasy to the point my hands are covered in it. I didn’t know donuts could be greasy… Which makes Unilocaling hard to do. Good tactic KC Donuts. But yeah… Not a fan of crispy donuts. Not sure why anyone would like them that way. I’ll stick to the other shop we go to unless my kid is sleeping in.
