Outstanding service and great food! Of course the coffee is on point too. This is the best Shipleys in town and they even have a drive through.

In late November, a Unilocaler posted a photo of a Boudin Kolache. However, as I am a professional amateur Boudin taste tester and we usually make our own once a year, I was on Brodie and stopped in. I am not a donut fan(sorry) but I was hungry and had to be moving fast so I thought I would grab a Kolache that I count eat when stuck in traffic. I ordered one of these things and it had just come out of the oven. It is actually a chicken based Boudin inside and had cheese. I was feeling like I was on Mars or something as «Chicken? Cheese?» The inside was clean and the two people working were hilarious and seemed to be having a good time as they prepared for the lunchtime rush. The donuts were beautiful, but again, donuts are not my thang. Not bad at all for my first visit. I will update later with other items as I go to a BBQ place nearby quite often.

Best Kolaches that I have had anywhere. Cake donuts were also very very good. Regular donuts were average and nothing special. I will be back!

This is the best Shipley’s I’ve ever visited. I’ve always loved their donuts, but the ones I went to in Arkansas kinda made you feel sad inside.(Maybe they depressed you into buying more donuts!) This Shipley’s is clean, bright, and full of friendly people. Plus, it has a huge selection, which is my favorite part. Bonus: Unlike other Shipley’s I’ve been to, there’s no minimum to use a debit card. Woot!

Please put regular iced coffee on the menu. No mocha, caramel, or French vanilla… Just regular.

One of the most delicious donuts in Austin. Nice chewy dough. They also were kind enough to make some custom kolaches for a catering order. I recently had a little hiccup in my order and the management more than compensated for the inconvenience. I appreciate how much they cared and how well they treated me as a customer.

I’m wavering between 3&4 stars… Kolaches: big improvements since my initial post, and yet plusses & minuses for some variations in meat quality… initially, the sausage-egg-cheese Kolaches were Jimmy Dean sausage, then they(Shipley’s corp switched to some other brand: TOO peppery; but I’m wondering if the owner of this Shipley’s switched back– MUCH better & more resembling of Jimmy Dean’s as of today’s post). Ham & cheese Kolaches: kids LOVE them now! Believe the quality of meat has improved from my previous post! Yet, the regular sausage & cheese tastes like a hot dog to me. Tipping the scales to 4 stars+ is the owner! Learned he vetoed corporate changes to cheaper cheese that was runny/squirty with a hot burning mess: siding with better cheese! Oh man, the difference speaks for itself! Obviously, if I gave only 2 stars initially to this Shipley’s and I’m updating this to a higher rating… not only are we giving patronage to this place, but it’s obviously worth mentioning! Go Shipley’s on Brodie Lane!

Four different Doughy, spongey, messes. Have never tossed a doughnut out. First time for everything. Also I know 7am is not the most fun time to work but the counter attitude could use some work.

Sundays are always better when your greeted by a sweety at the window of a donut shop. Good customer service is so hard to find these days and to have quick friendly service along with small talk… Can’t ask for more! Hope to get some blueberry cake donuts here soon :)

You cannot go wrong with this donut place. It has been open for years, they have other breakfast items on their menu and multiple locations all over TX. Overall a great donut shop.

I was not impressed at all! My donut was stale. My boyfriend ordered glazed donut holes because they were out of glazed donuts. It looked as if the holes had been sitting in the bag for who knows how long. I’ll be going across the street to KC Donuts from now on. I highly recommend going there!

Poor customer service loses customer! Seems I was asking too much to actually SEE what the kolaches looked like before I purchased it. I walked in, as opposed to using the drive-thru, because I wanted to SEE what I was going to purchase since the last kolaches I purchased somewhere else, I wasn’t too pleased with. But, that seemed to have been too much work for this person. Maybe she didn’t want to show me that they were all shriveled up and old, or that she had to microwave them, or… WHAT?! What was the big deal? Even after I explained that I was not too familiar with what a «regular» kolaches looks like — I didn’t grow up eating these things — the idiot behind the counter insisted that it’s «just regular» sized. Don’t worry, I won’t be bothering you again. I’ll take my business elsewhere. What I should have done was left the donuts there on the counter too. They were as substandard as the so-called service. Next time I have a doughnut craving, Krispy Kreme gets my business! They would have this time, except I thought I would give a new(to me) idea a try since it was closer to my home. Nope. Next time, I will drive out of the way for better donuts, kolaches I can see in the case, and much better service. If I could give this experience — Sat, Nov 1, around noon — a ZERO star rating, I would.

My fiancé and I are on a mission to try every donut shop in Austin. Every Sunday, we wake up and eat a nutritious breakfast of some sort(chicken sausage and scrambled egg whites was this morning’s) and then we find a donut shop and order 1 glazed donut(me), 1 cake donut(him), and 1 speciality donut that we split. This morning’s outing took us to Shipley’s. I had tried Shipley’s once before in the Houston airport in a moment of sugary weakness. Got there about 10:45am and it was not at all crowded, so we ordered 1 glazed, 1 plain cake, 1 iced maple, and then since the cake donuts here are much smaller than the glazed, we also got a cinnamon sugar donut. I do not like cake donuts, but the fiancé said they were some of the best he’s ever had. He might have just been exaggerating since the cake donut he had on last week’s adventure was lacking. The glazed donut was perfectly warm and mouth-melty and it had a good texture. The iced maple was equally delicious. I didn’t care for the piece of cinnamon sugar donut that I tried, but I also didn’t order it — he did. We got 2 cups of coffee that were mediocre. Would be nice to have the non-big-chain donut shops to step up their coffee game a bit. Service was great and fast. I think if I worked at a donut shop, I would want to kill everyone because I probably had to wake up at the butt crack of dawn to start making donuts for the people like me that just woke up around 10am and leisurely strolled in to gluttonize on sugar. I definitely appreciate the employees of bakeries and donut shops for this reason.

Fart definition — to release intestinal gas through the anus. Let me just tell you this story about why my wife is considering a divorce, possibly living in a tent in the back yard this holiday weekend, and thanks to Shipley’s sausage, egg, and cheese kolache it just might happen I went to the bank down the street today. My boy little Rooster knows where the donuts are. I mean two blocks away he is saying«donut?». I pulled in and ordered a glazed and a sausage, cheese, jalapeño. I ended up with the SEC instead. We went about our business of the Zilker train, and various shopping adventures. Then the gas appeared, then became UNCONTROLLABLE. I then recalled that the only time I ever ordered the mentioned kolache this happened. It won’t happen again. EVER! Say your some business guy trying to make the bosses happy with some snacks at the Friday meeting; better be a quick meeting. Forget that 5 hour perspectives on some initiative. You will DIE holding it in. Stick with the donuts if you must. Basically to avoid this happening I now have to go to the bank and turn back towards Slaughter to keep the boy out of that drive-thru. My wife is frowning right now. I’m sunk. Home of the Big Earl? No Mas, Thanks.
