The ABSOLUTE worst bartenders and«bouncers» in Austin. Every single one of them is extremely rude. It’s like they are mad at you when you go to the bar to order a drink. They are kind of like a pack of misfits. Liked the place at first but I won’t go back.

I don’t get the appeal. Maybe it’s because South Austin is so starved for a decent bar. I would love to love this place but I just can’t. I’ve been there maybe 4 times. Every time I left feeling a little less happy than when I arrived. This is hard to do when consuming alcohol. There is nothing in particular I can say about the place that I think would make it better. I just wish it didn’t make me feel depressed being there. As I am writing this, I realize that just about every bar in South Austin has a sad/depressing vibe. Think about it… Moon Tower, Warehouse, Bender, G & S Lounge… meh. Depressing.

One of the best patios in Austin. They have benches, picnic tables, cozy adirondacks in a circular setting — all in the midst of beautiful, mature oaks. The burgers from the food truck are killer, and they serve hot crunchy tots too! They have a great selection of cold beer, the staff is friendly, and there are a variety of different activities(volleyball, washers, etc) you can choose from, if just enjoying a good beer with great company isn’t enough for you. ;) We had Sunday Funday here this week, and saw the sunset through the trees. Absolutely stunning view. We’ll definitely be back. Soon!

Brought our Math Dept here. Triple wide food truck guys got here 3 hrs early just for us, gave us a sweet deal and treated us great! Food was so amazing that I didn’t even get a pic!!! Somehow made an amazing Moontower better!

Loud, drinks, bars, smoking, some games. Not super my scene, but it’s nice when you have a bunch of friends who want to just hang out. They have frozen margs which is great for a divey bar.

I love and hate this place. I love this place because their frozen drinks are amazing. I do like the atmosphere and seating. I hate this place because the security is well… over the top. I would say tone it down on that.

This place is great. Kick up your feet. Let your dog sniff around on you. Have a burger and a beverage. The trees’ll keep you cool and the fans’ll keep you cooler.

My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon and can see potential if we had a larger crowd of friends to hang with and didn’t want to chill in our backyard at home. We came to check out the local art festival but only had about 9 booths and nothing that was for me. We headed in for beer. A decent tap selection with even booze slushies. We grabbed a pitch of beer to sit outside to listen to some god awful music. I would have paid her stop singing. Anyway we killed about an hour here before heading out to some place else. The crowd looked to be late 20s to early 50s. You could bring your dogs which was a cool bonus.

Been there several times and there’s always a rude bartender!!! The place is very nice and my only complain is about some bartenders! Several times we have to deal with that and I’m super surprised because everybody is very nice in Austin. One time we ordered our drinks and the bartender asked our ID’s, cool. When she sees mine(from another country) she said«What the F##K is this» and I was like ok, this girl is not gonna have any tip, and she didn’t, she served some drinks in smaller glasses too and we are surrounded by people holding same drinks hello! And so on, always rude, the only nice person over there is the manager. The girls at the bar I don’t know why but the majority are rude always.

This place was sooo cool! I came here with a local, on an early Sunday afternoon. They had a stage for live music and a volleyball court. I tried their Bloody Mary bar. I was taken by surprise, at first, upon realizing that I had to make my own drink, but I actually really liked it. They had fresh ingredients, and I got to add them according to my own personal taste. What’s not to love? It was a fun experience. I could see myself chilling here often, if I actually lived in Austin.

Love this venue, love the outdoor seating, love the bands that this jam here like the Sam Bentley Band, love the fire pits, the pizza is OK, and the tater-tots rule!. Some security employees are muh. Security needs to learn how to let things roll off their shoulders like proper, grown adults. Definitely come here to hang with friends during the day. And definitely come here with friends to enjoy a band on a gorgeous evening. The tater tots are a solid choice if you need a little something.

What an atmosphere! We went on a Thursday night and there was live Louisiana blues playing and people were having a good time. There are plenty of tables for friends to gather. Definitely a south Austin gem!

Went to Moontower for a friend’s birthday on a Sunday. We were smart and reserved the court so as not to have any issues. I have no complaints about the prices of drinks(very reasonable) or the quality of the court(amazing sand!). We did however have an incident with someone who must have been a manager. A few people went to order beers and to make carrying them easier, the bartender handed them over with the can ring on them. We didn’t think anything of it and kept drinking. Not much later we were approached by a dude who immediately went into a spiel about how he was told we brought it our own beer, that he was going to search our bags to find more beer, and then he was going to kick us out for bringing beer. We were stunned not only because of the accusation, but with how aggressive he was and how he was not going to hear our side of the story. After his huff and puff routine we were able to explain that no, we did not bring our own beer in and if fact is was one of his own bartenders that handed it to us that way. I could tell he was embarrassed and his demeanor changed some, but come on. Talk about being rude. Look, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is an issue that Moontower goes through. I know they have to take a stand. But couldn’t you at least allow us to defend ourselves before you make threats of searching our bags and kicking us out? We were customers at a birthday party for crying out loud. Hopefully the dude was just having an off day and he isn’t like this with others. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I hesitate to even go back.

ONEOFAUSTINSTWISTSON A BEERGARDEN! It was a real treat to come to south Austin for this fantastic bar. It really feels more like your lounging in a small park than a bar. It’s a huge property with chairs, firepits, and lights scattered throughout the edge of a forest. It’s dog friendly so bring out your quadruped buddy, kick back, relax and enjoy the fresh air with a nice selection of local brews to try out. Not to mention there’s televisions to watch; pool, volleyball, and yardgames to play; Or simply chill and listen to some music. And lets not forget about the food trucks that are lined up on the property for when you’ve worked up an appetite! A casual playground for the grownups, really!

You will be carded as soon as you drive up, so have your I.D. ready. Parking is easy if you get in early enough. Otherwise you might have to… walk, gasp! No problems there. This place has a little something for anyone looking for a laid back experience. It does tend to lean towards the country side… but not scary bigoted country. Pool, T.V., drinks, live music, yard games, volleyball, somewhere to take your dog, and greasy bar food. The mix of people is great, people from all walks of life. I’m always comfortable there. I can take my dog, hang out with friends and listen to live music. This is my favorite place to grab a drink at present.

Super fun place to hang out with a group of friends or out on a low key date. This is literally a play ground for adults as specified by the venue as you drive in. I love the 512IPA and their spacious patio. Food trucks on site if I remember correctly. They also have tvs with an outdoor theatre setup and sand volley ball courts. This place will delight any fun-loving, laid back individual who appreciates a good beer or cocktail while doing something active or inactive. So… anyone?

Finally made it all the way down south to Moontowner and was very pleased of the place. While I did not order a single item, we came down to play some volleyball. I was shocked how nice the courts were. All three courts had great sand, lines pre-set and nets set up. They do have a lot of rules about what you can and can’t bring out to their courts but for the three hours I was there on a Saturday, not a single person came out to complain about what we brought with us. Just know, it is a bar so don’t bring your own food and beer.

«Adults at Play» says the sign at the entrance of Moontower’s parking lot. An attendant searches your car and checks your ID to ensure you’re an adult. When I hit the bar they IDd me again to make super-sure I’m an adult. Moontower wants to confirm that only adults get into a place that’s basically the adult version of fantasy land. 60% of the people there are probably adults in age only. Are they adults in every other way? No se. There are volleyball courts, food trucks, and bands playing at deafening levels for us old folk adults who are allowed the privilege of draft beers(no beloved Blood & Honey) and volleyball. The volleyball courts are actually impressive, as are the deck areas and walkways. Having been told about this place for at least 2 years, I was surprised by the space. If they have a cool vibes reggae night I would come back. It was the kind of loud country jammin’ that leads you to scream to hear each other which, combined with the smoke, is a recipe for voice loss right quick. I can sit silently and drink and watch the music for only so long before it’s nap time. But overall it’s a sweet oasis down south where you’re likely to see a bunch of pals. I ran into 2 friends from different social circles and we agreed that we must be adults. After a few minutes of searching for a spot, parking was a breeze — as long as you’re, you know, an adult. I’m afraid of what happens to those who dare not be adults. Or if they found out I’m bad at adulting. Oh no.

I came here this past weekend for the Corgy(corgi meetup). I was in Corgi heaven and my dog was having a blast sniffing all the butts. I was hoping that this place would be like Doghouse Drinkery with a bar + off-leash dog park, but it was just an incredibly dog friendly bar with poop bags available. The staff was very friendly and understanding when my dog would get into one of his frapping mood(loud barking involved) or would do a little lunge at them. They’re clearly use to doggy antics. There’s even this little doggy pool with doggy misters if your dog starts to overheat. Drinks were reasonably price($ 6 for a margarita and $ 3.50 for draft beer). This is a very casual place so all the drinks were served in disposable plastic cups. There was a nice selection of draft beer and 4 types of cold, slushy, alcoholic drinks. The food was also reasonable priced: $ 7 for a burger or $ 4 for a basket of fried food. I got a basket of onion rings and they were definitely right outta the fryer. In the charming outdoor area, there was a live band providing some chill background music. There are multiple areas for cornhole, horseshoe, and even a volleyball court if you get bored of just talking and drinking. It is a relaxing place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Meh. I’ve got a hard time making a consistent opinion about Moontower Saloon. I wanted this place to be just as David Wooderson saw it in Dazed and Confused a la «Party at the Moontower!» Not necessarily the case. Instead, it’s a combination of locals who probably gave up their city life for reasonably priced real estate and this is one of few watering holes in the area. The other half are pretentious dog owners who pay very little attention to what their furry friends are up to. The beer is cheap, the selection is mediocre. I go through the drinks like water, as they are served in plastic water cups. The food truck is decent, plating up anything fried. No healthy options here, yall. If you are going all out, there’s a burger with a fried egg and bleu cheese. Nomlicious. There are some fun things to do, if you can brave the Texas summer heat and are up for a game of swatting away Mosquitos with vendettas. Volleyball, horseshoes, etc. Great for large groups.
