It should be against the law for this place to have those chickens running around on the patio as they do crap on the tables etc. Service here does stink!

Ordered the Grilled Chicken sandwich with fries. It was tasty but I don’t think it should have been $ 11.00. A bit pricey for a chicken sandwich with lettuce tomato and mayo. I do suggest it though as it was decent.

I tried their La Hatch Chile burger and the Blackened Fish tacos. Both were tasty. I especially liked the tenderness of the burger; however, the Blackened Fish Tacos were a bit overpriced for the little that you get. I’ve had better tacos at ¼ the price.

I’ve eaten here once, several years ago and I remembered it being good breakfast tacos. This time wasn’t quite as good. I would’ve given three stars on food alone. I ordered the JuJu plate which sounded like a slightly healthier option. The amount of food I received for my 10 dollars(including tip) was way less than I would’ve gotten had I ordered 2 tacos at half the price, less than 2 eggs worth for sure. The reason I know this is because I saw several people order/eat tacos and most had fillings that were the amount of my plate. So, the amount of vegetarian chorizo had to be less than 1oz of meat(almost none). The mushrooms were undercooked and finally my red corn tortillas were covered in charred black marks that tasted like they looked. So, as I mentioned, I would’ve done 3 stars on food alone. Well the bathroom was disgusting… It reminded me of any bathroom of a convenient store that has a main customer base of the«questionably legal». I feel really bad for any lady that needs to use the restroom as there is only one restroom. My last complaint is that they make you buy a drink from other convenient store register that requires 3 dollar minimum for CC transactions… real convenient! If you’re grabbing tacos in the go, this place may be alright but otherwise I would consider elsewhere.

Pretty good food for being in the back of a gas station, quick convenient place to stop for a quick bite for bfast or lunch — they’ve been empty the couple of times I stopped in, so service was fast. Most unexpectedly, they actually have a pretty good variety, including some vegetarian options.

Señor Buddy’s, why, oh why is your service so very terrible? I can’t believe that Curra’s lets you be associated with their name. I live right around the corner, and I think your food is great, so I really, really want to love this place… But literally, every time I leave I’m composing a bad Unilocal review in my head. Well, this is me finally getting around to it. List of super lame experiences: — One Friday night it took 2 hours to get our food. And when it finally did come, they told one person we were with that they didn’t have what she ordered. So she ordered something different and then they brought out an entirely different thing than she ordered the second time, saying that they didn’t have the second thing she ordered either. No comps were offered! — I ordered take out tacos one morning, specifically asking if rice and beans came with the taco plate. I also ordered extra tortillas because my kids wanted to make rice and bean tacos with my rice and beans sides. They said«yes, both rice and beans come with the taco plate». I get home and there’s no rice. I drive back over(it’s literally 30 seconds from my house), they say oh no, sorry, they don’t have rice at the inside location. No comps offered. — And now, for some reason, the main restaurant is closed for the winter — you know, the horrible winter that brought the bitter 75 degree, bluebird day today! — And when I asked the cashier why they were closed for the winter, she said«I don’t know, I don’t work for the restaurant, I work for the gas station.» Really?! Then why the *!#% are you taking my money!!! — Oh, and the icing on the cake, or rather the poop on the tables. That’s right folks, you heard me, poop on the tables. They have chickens running around pooping on the picnic tables.(I don’t dislike chickens, I have my own, I just don’t think they belong at a restaurant.) Whew, that is quite a list. Like I said before, the food is delicious, but this one star rating is exactly what they deserve until they figure out how to run a restaurant.

On my very first visit to Señor Buddy’s, I felt like it was the epitome of «I really wanted to like this place.» Why did I really want to like it? Well, their equation is simple; Killer covered patio with ample seating, fans and flat screen TVs, Mexican food and a decent selection of beers on draft. Seems simple enough to execute, right? Well, this one evening 3 months ago, we chose to hang here with our large party — the place was understaffed. Normally, I would not ding them on execution here for wait time, but service proved to be bad in a way more related to the server himself. In short, he forgot drink orders, mixed up/forgot food orders and he was a mess overall. Food was 3.75 stars, Atmosphere was 4 stars, but Service earned zero. I may try this place again when patio weather rolls around again and I’ll give them another shot. With so many good choices in Austin, it is hard to say when that might be probably won’t go out of my way.

One star for zero customer service. Got gas here and went in to report that the auto shutoff on the gas pump wasn’t working since we had just overflowed gas all over the ground. The attendant on duty informed us that it wasn’t his problem and he wasn’t going to do anything about it. Was not looking for anything other than assurance that they would shut down the pump until it was fixed to avoid this happening to other people. This place used to be a frequent stop, but I will not be stopping here again.

Wow… it finally came crashing down for me with this place. We wanted to grab a bite on a Saturday and enjoy a nice Central Texas evening under the stars with some cheesy but relaxing live music. First thing that came to mind outside of the rat race in town was Señor Buddy’s. Well, when we arrived and came in through the gate from the back parking lot it was obvious something was different. All the chairs/tables in the grassy area were put up forcing you to sit at the picnic tables near the bar, all the lights were dimmed, and there was no live music. The atmosphere was absolutely dismal and even the roosters seemed like they did not want anybody around. Around 10 minutes after plunking down at a picnic table our waiter finally arrived with an aloof and disinterested attitude. I ordered a draft Pacifico and was promptly told the bar was out of all Mexican draft even though I could see an employee at the bar pulling a draft Pacifico. I pointed over and our waiter said he must have remembered it wrong and would get me what I asked for. Our waiter acted like he really didn’t want to be there and even moreover acted like he wished we weren’t there either. To be frank, he was one of the worst waiters we have dealt with short of the waitstaff in Denver, CO. The food… absolutely horrible compared to what we are used to from Señor Buddy’s. I ordered a Devared’s Burrito like I have many times before, but this time it was going to be my downfall. This thing is usually fresh with crunchy shrimp and filled with mouthwatering spices and flavor. Not this time. It seemed as if someone ordered the same thing earlier in the day and left without it so they threw it in the microwave after sitting on a counter all day. It tasted stale and the opposite of fresh, it even had a bit of a spoiled flavor to it(my suspicions were right… read on). My wife ordered her favorite grilled fish tacos on corn tortilla with mango salsa on the side and black beans. She got overly fried fish tacos on a flour tortilla drenched in mango salsa with refried beans. Our ever helpful waiter then tried to argue that we are looking at the fish wrong and he felt it was grilled. When I peeled off some deep fried breading and threw it on the table he changed his tune… now it was that she ordered it that way. What a horrible experience, but it didn’t end Saturday night. Sunday morning I woke up with queasy feeling and a headache from hell(not from the Pacifico). As the morning wore on I realized the craptastic physical state life blessed me with was food poisoning. That funny wang taste of the burrito must have been something rotten. 3 days of hell for one night of burrito. WEARENEVERGOINGBACKTOSENORBUDDY’S AGAIN… EVER! I sung praises about this place before, but the service was questionable the last few times we went but the food was always good. This was unforgivable.

Two stars for the fish tacos, 4 stars for the venue. I do not know about the rest of their menu items but maybe I will go back someday and maybe it will be better and maybe I will bump them up one star, maybe. Go here for brews and cool outdoor venue.

Been going to this place since it was just Buddy’s corner store. Now that it has changed into a restraint the food is good even though they run out of things some. Breakfast tacos are pretty good as well. Customer service can suck pretty bad most of the time. It’s a crap shoot on how your visit will go.

It’s a bummer that Buddy’s has gotten so many poor recent reviews for service. Hopefully staff will take note of that and make some changes. Being new to the area, I’ve only been here a few times, but each time I’ve gotten the level of service that I would expect from a place attached to a grocery store /gas station where there chickens and picnic tables. Not bad or good, just what I expected. As for the food, I get tacos each time and have yet to be disappointed. True, my server hasn’t always known what was on tap, but that’s what the beer list is for. Good tacos, funky outdoor atmosphere, and I can’t wait to hit a concert here some time.

We go here on a regular basis. Love the breakfast tacos. The fried pickles are also very good. My brother comes from Dallas and requests to go there just for the pickles. The atmosphere is casual and you can always be entertained by the 2 chickens walking around.

My second visit to Señor Buddy’s and it was pretty okay. After a solid mediocre first visit we were encouraged to try again by a local who promised that they had improved the beer selection. They didn’t lie to us. Buddy’s added a small handful of better beer including a couple of selections from Thirsty Planet and(512). Thank you!!! Based on the Unilocal reviews, my expectations of the food were very low, however, I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the al pastor and steak tacos were. The al pastor was particularly outstanding! The mexican rice wasn’t exactly like my abuelita used to make it but it was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. The charro beans were tasty but had a little too much canned ranch-style bean flavor to them. I’m not sure what that was. Overall — every food item we were served was much better than I had expected. The beer served in a plastic cup just gets me. I like high-quality, inexpensive food and I like locally brewed craft beers served in proper glassware. Thin plastic cups just don’t cut it. Am I a beer snob? Absolutely. Is Señor Buddy’s being cheap(and incredibly environmentally unfriendly)? In my opinion, definitely. When we want to dine out we look for quality food at a place that serves craft beer. More and more places around Austin fit that bill. Señor Buddy’s has moved in the right direction by adding a few decent draft beer options. How about they kick it up by using real glasses, dropping a few of those macro-lagers and adding a few more of the locals. You have Thirsty Planet and(512) represented. Why not add Jester King? Getting over my cheap-plastic-cup-that-caves-when-you-grab-it snobbery, I enjoyed the food and the live music. Don’t know the name of the couple that was playing but the woman had a great voice and the guy killed it on the trumpet. Nice.

Just picked up 4 egg and bean breakfast tacos which we’ve had dozens of times and always been happy until today 6÷12÷13. All four tacos had a considerable amount of egg shell in them. Enough to create some serious crunch and grit in almost every bite. Someone needs to understand that by ordering eggs it is understood that the interior of the egg — the yolk and whites are to be used, not the vessel itself. That’s a first.

Some of the best tacos I have ever eaten!!! Little pricey, but who cares if they’re this happy when eating tacos. Cashiers and cooks are soo friendly and nice! Sunday they don’t open til 9, but it’s worth the wait! Be sure to try the chorizo, kinda greasy, but what good chorizo isn’t? :)

Señor Buddy’s, formerly Buddy’s Corner Store, was purchased by Curra’s Grill & reopened as a restaurant/bar last weekend. The convenience store is still there in the front, and looks clean & well stocked. But when we arrived, looking for the band, we were cheerfully escorted through to the back into a terraced patio paradise. The area closest to the original store is a stone patio shaded by arbors, with TVs hanging from above. Tables for dining are arrayed on the patio, and on the terraced area beyond. The latter are shaded by patio umbrellas. The property in back is shaded by oaks & well manicured, so kids can run freely when the mood strikes. With strings of festive lights hung through the trees, a long neon-lit bar along the building, an elevated stage for the band, & a smooth concrete dance floor in between, the place has a coastal laid-back vibe that makes you just want to hang out there all afternoon & evening. A cool breeze capped our group’s mood, and that’s exactly what we did. Erik Larson & Peacemaker were playing that night(outlaw country), so we settled in & ordered from the ample list of draft beer & decided to go for dinner. The menu is very similar to Curra’s: Tex-Mex, sandwiches & burgers with a healthy twist. Our group raved about the desserts. The food was excellent overall. Good atmosphere, good music, good food… I think this place might become popular.

WOW! What an amazing transformation! See my earlier review for what this place used to be. Curra’s bought the site and then bought several parcels next door and turned it into a beautiful casual outdoor restaurant and beer garden. They installed an incredible outdoor space and built a pavilion, stage, volley ball court, tables nestled under oak trees under lights on a terraced area over looking the stage. They have washers games and strings of lights and a waterfall. This is a beautiful spot to eat, drink beer or have an event. These people are seriously nice, too. They have live music when they can, but have an awesome soundtrack with current Latin rock and pop and alternative. This was a pet peeve of mine in Austin, btw — why you could not ever find current Latin music that wasn’t of the Tex mex, polka variety. The menu is large and varied with lots of Curra’s specialties along with burgers and sandwiches. They haven’t gotten their full liquor license yet, but they have a good selection of beers on tap that include a very good locally brewed IPA from around the corner on Circle Drive. They also have wine. We had some beers and a piece of tres leches last night for an early birthyday splurge and it was just a wonderful experience sitting under the oak trees softly lit with overhead strings of colored lights. I am SOEXCITED that this is here. The new Señor Buddy’s is simply awesome. I really cannot express to you how happy I am that I no longer have to go to Nutty Brown ever again. Ever. By the way, the Unilocal map has the address and location all wrong. It is right on the corner of Circle Drive and 290 W., about a mile and a half west of the Oak Hill Y. Plenty of parking and on an intersection with a traffic light so it is easy to get to. GOGOGO!
