Nice ambience and very clean, which is ideal for a sushi bar. I ordered the Cajun crawfish, I never do raw fish and don’t have any intentions on doing so but the cooked menu is perfect. Plenty of options to choose from regardless of your eating lifestyle.

I love this place. At this point, I have probably had every spicy thing on the menu and even some off the menu rolls(thanks to the awesome kitchen staff who knows how to make yummy rolls with lots of fresh fish and daily made sauces). Dion, the manager, is top notch and you can tell he takes pride in running a professional team. If you feel like leaving it to the sushi chefs, just go «omakase» style, and you will not be disappointed! If you like it as spicy as I, get a side of the chili toreado sauce. And, if you are lucky enough to live in the delivery area, it’s not bad delivered either(sounds weird, but it’s true). Finally, and then I will get back to eating my sushi, try the happy hour. Great prices on daily rolls and snacks! Highly recommend!

Amazing sushi. Jennifer was a great waiter, the jalapeño roll was spectAcular. One was spicier than the other but both great. Tuna and spicy tuna rolls are also deeeeelish! Good presentation as well.

I dropped in here last September and had lunch. I had the Miso Soup and the Bora Bora Roll. Both were outstanding! I am from Tyler TX and I have craved this meal since Sept. I will be there tomorrow evening for dinner! I cannot wait and I am bringing some friends with me! They are tired of hearing me rave about this restaurant, so they are going to try it themselves!

Love the dynamite muscles and happy hour menu and cocktail prices with 4 star service. Ordered nagiri(escolar) not on happy hour menu — yum! Recommend exploring the menu and not sticking to the happy hour menu cuz it’s all PERFECT and a great value. But dont go here cuz I want it all to myself.

I ordered online for home delivery. What I ordered did not match the description of the actual katsu don dish; it was dry, rubbery, the egg looked disgusting and there was no sweet broth drizzled on top. I was very disappointed in the spicy edamame as well – it was flavorless! I’m normally a huge sushi zushi fan, but man… this was just terrible and unsatisfying.

Really enjoy the resturant. Love with food, service is great, prompt delivery a high plus. My bestfriend and I, enjoy dining as often as we can, but mostly take out. Highly recommend to everybody.

The food was good. My husband really wanted to try this place as there are not many restaurants in Austin that serves Sukiyaki and he has been searching for a place where they served it given his love for Japanese food. We had the soft shell crab that was delicious, Sukiyaki that my husband thought was good although it is on the sweeter side if anyone does not like sweet for dinner, my son had the grilled chicken that he loved. I think the winner of the day was definitely the dessert. I can’t remember the name but it was Fried Bananas with green tea ice cream. That was so good.

Well. I guess they have made amends to the momma. Acknowledged it was handled poorly. Worth a second try!

We tried this location about 4 weeks ago for my birthday. The Domain location is a regular place for us, as well as Maru. For whatever reason, we wanted to try to downtown location. We had a pretty bad experience, to be honest. The décor of the downtown location is similar, but for some reason just seems a little more run-down than the Domain location.(I’m not a fan of the domain in general, but like the Sushi Zushi there and the Italian restaurant North that’s there.) Basically we had very, very slow service, and no real efforts at a service recovery, although a manager apologized at the end, after it was pretty much too little too late. The main problem was the service time and it seemed like the waitress dodged us instead of dealing with the issue by talking to us about it. And I mean, extraordinarily slow, like long enough for us to consider just leaving and going somewhere else. Anyway, it’s unlikely we’ll be back. I don’t know what happened, but with viable options at the domain location or Maru, there’s not much reason to try this location again.

How great is it to have sushi delivered right to your door when the weather is nasty? We thought it was pretty great! I had the tropical roll and the veggie gyoza– brilliant to make a veggie version by the way! Really good! My hubs got regular gyoza and the Godzilla and scallop rolls. He said it was the perfect amount of sushi. We will definitely be calling again!

Mini curry katsu is a cheap lunchtime staple, only wish it included a side of veggies. Get the chicken — there’s much more chicken than pork.

This was my first time at this location. It’s actually very close to work so I decided to stop by on my way home. I was worried it was going to be in the middle of downtown and I’d be running around crazy trying to find a place to park, but that wasn’t the case at all. It’s right off Mopac, very easy to get to… and they have a garage where you can park. Staff was was very friendly and efficient. I was in and out in no time and enjoyed my dinner. Always such a pleasure coming to Sushi Zushi. I’ll be stopping by this location more often on my way home.

I’m from California and was searching for a sushi place. The food was amazing. Big menu and everything sounded good. Ordered 4 rolls and I was in heaven. If I’m ever in Texas again. I’m coming back.

Yes, it’s a chain. And maybe it’s not the most authentic sushi ever. But it’s a convenient downtown location with great drinks and a lot of veggie options. With a big menu, it’s sure to please most people! Veggie options: edamame, spicy edamame, shishito peppers, vegetable gyoza, seaweed salad, vegetable tempura, Japanese curry rice, zaru soba(a cold buckwheat noodles dish), Teppan fried rice with vegetables or tofu, mushroom takitori, vegetable or tofu teppanyaki, and several interesting sushi rolls! They have happy hour from 3 – 7 every day! Includes $ 5 cocktails and several discounted appetizers and rolls!

We are fans of Sushi Zushi. Their sushi is always well prepared, the fish is fresh and their service is quality. They have a great selection of specialty rolls that differ than the usual suspects on a sushi menu. That is a welcome change since most places just recycle the same speciality rolls. Their drink menu is ok, but they do have a decent selection of sake. I would say the biggest draw back for me is the price. At times I think I’m paying more money than what I should be based on what I am getting. I guess that is par of the course for most sushi places.

Positives: good service, good happy hour specials, prime downtown Austin location, Sapporo on draft(I hear that’s hard to find?) Things I didn’t like: fish to rice ratio was very minimal. I got the Dallas roll, which is one of their signature rolls. For $ 13 I got a very tiny amount of raw fish with a lot of rice surrounding it– not my type of sushi. Edamame was extremely salty, which is too Americanized for my taste. Overall, too pricey for minimal fish in my sushi. Only reason I’d come back is for happy hour specials.

Finally decided to try the restaurant, I had previously only had delivery service to my work. I initially wanted to go during happy hour but we went around 8pm this Friday. I got to say it looked pretty busy, not a lot of waiting area seating either. The wait was about 25 minutes, so we decided to get a drink while we waited. We got two Blackberry Smashes, they were delicious. I wanted to try it because I saw it was on their happy hour menu too so I will definitely be back for that! I love when a place knows how to make really good drinks with real fresh fruit. When we finally got seated, we already knew what we wanted. We took valuable time looking at the menu while waiting. We kind of went over board on our appetizers haha. We ordered sashitto peppers, gyoza, and some salmon mishubu or something like that. I didn’t like it much but my bf ordered it. I also had a miso soup, standard for me when I get sushi. We had three different rolls. The Spy Roll was my favorite. The Jen Roll was similar but it wasn’t as great. And the third roll, I don’t remember what it was called but I definitely didn’t like it. It was a recommendation from the waitress but I won’t throw it on her. I just don’t particularly like a lot of avocado and that’s pretty much all it was but deep fried. I just don’t think she knew that we were experienced sushi eaters. I love sushi rolls that tend to have more raw fish on top or inside of it. Needless to say, we will most likely experiment the menu on our own haha. We will definitely come back though, the drinks were definitely a plus for me. Although, if it’s not happy hour it can get pretty pricey.

I first discovered the deliciousness of sushi zushi when they were fairly new from some friends living in San Antonio(which is where they opened the first location, I believe). After visiting Japan in 2009, I can attest that this place does everything right/authentic and adds comforts to our Texan palates(like adding jalapeños here and there). They have excellent service yet everything is very laid back and casual. The happy hour is absolutely one of the best in town and this is when I discovered the seafood soup bowl with udon noodles… the best comfort food ever. Their menu is super big which is nice. If you get overwhelmed the servers can point you in the right direction if you can at least tell them what you don’t like. This place also introduced me to mochi ice cream which is not always available at other sushi spots. I met the current manager recently, Dan, and he was super nice when we needed some help trying to use a gift card. Great sushi place. Highly recommend. Don’t listen to all the Unilocaling elite food snobs that might hate on this place… this place rocks!

Uh… what? Sushi Zushi completely took me by surprise. It’s not at all what I expected and the food was pretty darn good. First, I thought it was a counter walkup thing like HDYR. Nope. Table service. And great service too from a guy in a funny shirt. Second, I was suspicious of the fish they’re putting out there. I mean, their name rhymes… how good could it be? Turns out: All the items I had seemed fresh and they did a fine job with the teppanyaki. And third, they’ve gone full american with their menus — as in, listing nutritional information. This is really helpful when you’re trying to be healthy or if you’re gluten free or if you’re vegan. Is this the best sushi you’ll ever have? No. But there’s a lot of variety, it’s really quick, they’ve got great happy hour every day and you can really eat around any dietary restrictions.
