Found this little gem yesterday during my lunch break. What a blessing! Love the look of the place and it just feels clean. Had some type of superfood green smoothie with a shot of Wheatgrass on the side. I enjoyed it so much that I went back for dinner for a Black Bean Quinoa wrap… Aaaaamazing! Wish we had one in Virginia!

My review is not based on the food. I live less than ½ mile from the NW Austin location, but their delivery service«Favor» doesn’t deliver to my address. In fact, they don’t deliver anywhere near the actual brick & mortar location on 183. Guess it sucks to be me home with the flu and… go ahead… say it… NOSOUPFORYOU!

Perfect little spot to have a nice warm cup of soup, cheesy panini, and fresh juice! Several soup options but I went with The Zuppa which was hearty and savory! Cheddar Grilled cheese was good but next time I’ll try the apple and muenster or the pesto and provolone! The amazing smell as soon as you walk into the soup peddler makes your mouth immediately water! They have cold soup to go which is cool. Also this place has the best juice bar in the area!!!

This restaurant started out in Austin years ago as a sole proprietorship with one guy, a former engineer of sorts, cooking his soup and delivering it to customers on a bicycle. He was inspired to leave his uninspiring highly paid job and make soup. YOUCANNOTGETANYMORECLASSICAUSTINTHANTHAT. My only regret was that I didn’t live close enough to be in his customer base. Eventually, he opened a funky little open-air restaurant on South Lamar and added sandwiches and smoothies to the menu. Still really far from me, but doable on occasion. But this! This store up north is right off 183 at Anderson Mill Road, and is all dressed up for church. It looks like a cute little mini-café from college days, and has indoor and outdoor seating, while offering the same delicious homemade soups and sandwiches and smoothies as its way cooler cousin down south. It’s perfect for a lunch stop during work or a dinner pick up on the way home. I’ve been there twice in one week for a smoothie and a progressively larger to-go container of Mulligatawny Stew. Officially addicted. The soups aren’t generic or boring, and they’re all homemade in small batches with fresh ingredients, Austin style. This is like the Franklin BBQ of soups. For me, sandwiches are kind of an afterthought in the presence of these royal soups, but there is a full array of options on the menu. The smoothies are fairly fruity, for the most part, and have the option of various additives for an uncharge. I ordered one with beets and carrots and celery, but most of them don’t stray far from apples and bananas berries and maybe a few green items. If you’d like to try making some of these soups yourself, you can buy the cookbook, aptly titled«Slow and Difficult Soups.» I’m thinking about it. The only place I’d fault them is that it can get expensive. But I consider the quality and also try not to make it an everyday stop. Try. Because it’s hard not to.

I’ve passed this place every day on the way to and from work for 2+ years and never stopped in, until today. I had lunch today with 2 colleagues and the three of us all loved everything about the Soup Peddler! I enjoyed their red chili pork stew and a basil, pesto and provolone sandwich and I’m ready to go back for seconds.

I placed on on-line order today to the 183 store. I received a text message and an email confirming my order. Totally my fault, I walked off with out my wallet. I asked the person at the counter if I could call my husband and have him give a credit card for me. I was told no, we don’t do that. I said please, I really don’t want to drive all the way home to get my wallet. No again. Fair enough, I guess — that’s policy. A lame policy but policy none-the-less. Fully prepared although reluctantly, to go home and get my wallet I asked if my order was ready or if it was going to get cold, she didn’t have my order and told me that I hadn’t placed one. I showed her my text message confirmation and she said, well it really doesn’t matter because you can’t pay anyway. I will be eating at Yummi Taco and not the Soup Peddler from here on out. Have a great day!

I love soup. I live north. Couldn’t be more pleased they built a location off N 183. Never had a thing I didn’t like. Staff is always nice. Not much of a sit down place. Totally casual. Everything is always packaged to –go. Lots of waste. They have a recycling, but one worker stated– not a lot of things can be recycled. My go to place. Don’t know what you want to eat– soup is always a yes. Great for Vegans & Vegetarians.(;

Piping hot soup and panini toasted sandwiches are just what the doctor ordered on a dreary cold day. Shared the mulligatawny and lentil barley soups with a green apple Munster cheese sandwich. Overall, great execution and timely service make this a great spot to eat.

Don’t be in a rush, South Austin location is pretty slow, ok if your going great to eat there or have an hour to hang out. Food etc is perfect. Very healthy options!

We drive by this place quite often and after some co-worker’s mentioning how good the place is, we finally decided to check it out! Fiancé and I both ordered the 18oz smoothies(Business Time & Fixie) and split a sandwich and small Tomato Basil soup. Though we both agreed everything was delicious, we were quite surprised how expensive it all was though. Business Time was good, but I don’t suggest getting a large. I got the smaller size and I still couldn’t finish it due to the bite from caffeine. Fixie, my fiancé enjoyed this quite a bit. I, who doesn’t like cucumber enjoyed the taste as the cucumber wasn’t overwhelming. I don’t know if we will go again. I loved the Tomato Basil soup, we even left with a bag of it which is $ 10.

Quality fresh food at a competing price. Grab it for here or to go… it’s a rotating soup menu, my favorite is the lobster bisque — I wish it was always on there or at least a seafood option but I can’t complain. Every sandwich or soup I’ve purchased I’ve been pleased with. The parking sucks but where does parking not suck in Austin?

I love the location. I wish the South locations were as nice as this one. My «just okay» was the tomato soup. It’s too thick. I don’t think I’ll have that again. The provolone and pesto grilled cheese was pretty good, I’d have that again!

I love the soup peddler! Great soup and awesome juice and smoothies. I usually get the Rip Torn(I get the small, but they inadvertently make more and just upgrade me to the larger size!) and as for soup, I’ve tried muligatawny, tomato basil, green goddess etc. and I have loved them all. You get complimentary crackers/french baguette(usually at lunch time) with your soup, which is very thoughtful. They also have stumptown cold brew bottles(no cream) and cartons(with cream), and its just the best coffee you will drink! Also a variety of salads and wraps and other foods for you to eat! Great lunch/breakfast spot especially if you are looking for a healthy option!

On a cold, drizzly afternoon in Austin, nothing sounded better than warm soup and a grilled cheese. I had been looking for a reason to try The Soup Peddler because of the great reviews. I had the basil pesto and provolone sandwich with a small cup of tomato basil soup. I would have liked to have basil pesto and mozzarella, but no substitutions can be made because the sandwiches are all pre-made. Bummer. The sandwich was good, but could have used a little bit more cheese. It had about the equivalent of a Kraft singles slice. The upside, it was nice and stretchy and melty. The flavor of the pesto was nice as well. The tomato soup was good as well, but not great. It tasted fresh, but maybe lacked a little depth of flavor. Maybe I just prefer homemade. The restaurant was a little busy when I got there, but there is no excuse for dirty, empty tables, in my opinion. They weren’t grossly dirty, but littered with crumbs, a few napkins, newspaper, a bag of crackers and even when things slowed down, no one came out to clean them. I really wanted to love this place, but left feeling only ‘meh’ about it.

Oh man! This is my go-to place for fresh and organic soup. I was introduced to this place while working out at CG Arena. The manager gave us samples and told us a lot about the ingredients they use. My friend and I actually decided to come in today for lunch; it is even better than I had a couple of days before. I just love the fresh taste, prices, and location. You can’t miss this place. It’s right before iFly.

Ever go to a restaurant where you like everything you see on the menu, that you worry you might never be able to decide what to order? I had that experience today. I knew I wanted a juice but the smells coming from the soup pots were so mouthwatering I wanted that too. Then I saw the sandwiches menu and the words ‘pesto’ and ‘peanut butter, banana, and honey’ caught my eye. Not together, because that would be gross. But honestly, I wanted all of it. I stuck with juice because I had errands to run and it was the smartest choice for on the go. But what kind of juice? Fruit, smoothie, yogurt fruit smoothie? Why?! For an already indecisive person this sort of menu is just torture. Thankfully the employee behind the counter could see the conflict on my face and managed to help me find what I was looking for. I said I wanted something with carrots and kale, so she suggested the Seven Veggie Army. I got the large(24oz) of that minus beets. I could taste how fresh the vegetables were and could almost feel my body soaking up the health benefits as I drank it. I love juicing, it also does wonders for your skin. Next time I refuse to leave without getting soup and I want to try one of their fruit yogurt smoothies as well. I wish I lived in their delivery range because I would pay to have them bring nutritious food on a regular basis to me in a heartbeat. If you live within city limits set up a free account online and take advantage! They have great looking meals that cater to all sorts of dietary needs.

I am so happy that North Austin now has a quality juice bar! The Soup Peddler has been around for sometime in South Austin. The south locations have a funky vibe to them. While this location does not have that funky vibe they do serve the same quality juices, smoothies, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Bonus this location also has indoor seating! The décor is minimal and the space clean. They have a variety of soups that change throughout the week. There is a grab and go section stocked with Topo Chico, wraps, salads and bags of soup. I ordered the Flotsam and Jetsam juice, a cup of Asopao de Camarones and a grilled cheddar on sourdough to go for Jesse. The Flotsam and Jetsam juice was delicious. This juice has cucumber, kale, apple which added sweetness, ginger and lemon which offered some zing. The soup was also good. I especially like that they serve soups in several sizes so you are not forced to purchase huge portions. The sandwiches are simple and probably are best when accompanied by soup. Other items I have tried at the south locations that I would recommend are the Love Cleanse juice and the Watermelon Strawberry smoothie.
