The tacos are great. Really great. But the wait time is always kind of ridiculous. Not because there’s a line… for some reason it usually take 20 min to get your food once you order, no matter how many people are in front of you. I love your tacos… but please speed it up!

Absolutely delicious! Great homemade hot sauces too! The barbacoa is wonderful. Can’t wait to try the shrimp and chicken tacos.

Finally stopped by the Thicket food park tonight for dinner after driving by so many times. Had the chicken taco and tilapia taco and they were awesome! I couldn’t choose a favorite. Plus there are like 10 different sauces to choose from! Creamy tomatillo was my fave! Will be back!

I go to this truck every time it is in the parking lot outside our office building. The food is so so good, i crave them. They are really fresh and the owners are super friendly and will tell you what sauce goes good with what taco. Everyone in my office is obsessed with them. I am pretty critical of tacos, being from San Antonio and these are some of my favorites.

VERY mediocre. Pros: I don’t think I’ll get sick from eating it… Cons: No cilantro, no onion, nothing. Your taco is a bit of meat and a smattering of cheese. They have a good number of sauces you can add to it, but what’s delivered is lacking considering the amount of competition in this town. For $ 4 a taco I was expecting something closer to Taco Baby or Torchy’s

Love the tacos, love the sauces — great variety and definitely worth a try!

Any other town, and this would have been 5 stars, so keep that in mind.(Austinites have high taco standards) They are regularly at my office for lunch, and they are one of the local favorites for good reason. All the taco options are great to begin with — Barbacoa and pastor being my favorites — but they are elevated by the condiment bar that let you customize to your taste, and the wide selection of custom made salsas. Not sure which to try? The owner is great at gauging your level of heat comfort, as well as offering suggestions as to which salsa pairs best with each taco. If you opt for some chips and queso, mix in a little 4 chili salsa to the queso(another great suggestion from the owner)

WOW! This truck was parked at my apartment today. I didn’t expect much, but I was so wrong. The tacos were flavorful, the corn tortillas perfectly toasted, and the 4 Chiles salsa the perfect addition to my lunch.

I just ate the best taco(and also the second best taco) I ever had. That’s saying a lot, since I live in Austin, so I eat a LOT of tacos. I tried the pastor(pork and pineapple), and I added the mango jabanero sauce. Wow. It was so good. They seasoned everything so well, and the tortilla was so great I would have happily eaten it alone. THEN I tried the veggie, to which I added avocado and had creamy tomatillo sauce with. Well, I wish it was three times as big. I didn’t want that taco to end! It had a little bit of beans and cheese, which added to the savory mushrooms and spinach. If you EVER see this truck, pull over and order something.

WhaTaTaco is by far one of the best taco trucks/restaurants I’ve ever had! They have amazing barbacoa and Pastor tacos, and also a large selection(at least 10) of homemade salsas/hot sauces. SOGOOD!

This taco truck popped up in front of our office building today and a bunch of us went down to give them a try. I had the barbacoa and egg, and it was delicious! Pretty sure everyone was satisfied with what they ordered. I liked mine so much I went back for lunch! I hope we see WhaTaTaco again in the future!

This is my first review ever in the history of Unilocal.Normally when a vendor politely asks me to write a review, I shrug it off and don’t give it a second thought. But today’s the day. These tacos pushed me over my review resistance threshold. It’s also worth mentioning that this was the first time I’ve had WhaTaTaco, though it already had a reputation amongst my coworkers. It apparently used to be parked closer to our office and they frequented it often, leaving them heartbroken when it changed locations and it was no longer convenient to go for lunch. Fast forward to today and WhaTaTaco magically appears in front of our office like a heavenly taco angel. I brought a lunch today, but I had to see what the hype was about. Everything on the lunch/dinner menu looked delicious and it was difficult to decide but I went with barbacoa on flour and picadillo on flour. In retrospect I wish I had gotten one of these tacos on corn for comparison’s sake but alas, in my haste to get the tacos into my mouth as soon as possible I didn’t think about it. The barbacoa was great, simple and delicious. The meat wasn’t greasy but still very moist and the taco wasn’t overloaded with cheese. It was the smaller of the two tacos but still plenty of filling. The picadillo was my favorite though. It was the perfect amount of spice and flavor and ughhlaskdfh;lak I can’t even articulate how delicious it was. It was a FAT taco too, significantly bigger than the barbacoa. The tortillas were super good also, though very large and thick(wink ;)), so consequently very filling. In the future I might forego those except on a special occasion, as I’m sure they’re each at least 300 calories and I’m not blessed with a metabolism that lets me eat as many amazing WhaTaTaco flour tortillas as I want. Two tacos was plenty of food. They have an assortment of sauces as well(maybe 10 or so?). I tried probably half of them and decided on 3 different ones to go with my tacos: carrot ghost(yum!), 4 chile, and spicy tomatillo. All the ones I tried were great. The gentleman running the truck(and I’m assuming owner?), Ray, was super friendly and helpful and we’re basically best friends now. The price of the tacos, $ 3.50 — $ 4.00, is wallet-friendly and extremely reasonable for the size and quality. The service was fast and first-rate. I want to eat these tacos forever. Please don’t ever leave me WhaTaTaco.

6 – 7 people in line, took 38 min. to get 2 tacos(Pastor and Barbacoa). They were good, but the wait was ridiculous. Several people in line wanted a refund because of the wait. Don’t go to an office building during lunchtime, if you can not crank out the food.

Maybe the best barbacoa tact I’ve ever had. Al Pastor was good but not best in Austin. The guy who owns the truck is incredibly nice, friendly, and giving. If there was someone who I could choose to have the American Dream, it would be this guy. It’s obvious how much he cares, likes what he does, and yearns to earn your business.

This truck has been parked in my apartment parking lot several times over the last few weeks so I figured I’d give it a try. It really didn’t disappoint for not being one of my usual spots. Yes, you might be thinking — another taco truck in Austin? Really? But they definitely aren’t your typical authentic Mexican tacos, or even a traditional Tex-Mex variation so they are a nice change of pace. The thing that sets these tacos apart is how flavorful the tortillas and some of the meats were. You can tell there has been some time and love invested in the process he uses to prepare his food. Another differentiating factor is the fact that most of the standard tacos come with melted cheese on them which adds some great fat and oil, but for some reason it really makes up for it with the added flavor(although I’m sure you could probably ask him to remove it if you wanted) A couple nice bonus factors include that the owner seems genuinely invested in his truck and craft and is VERY nice and personable(I believe his name is Ray?), the price point is very fair, they offer customizable breakfast tacos, and finally they have a killer selection of homemade salsas ranging from ‘carrot ghost pepper’ to ‘mango habanero’(and every variation of green tomatillo in between). My personal favorite salsa and the classic salsa option here is the ‘4 chiles’. It’s a nice red, mild salsa with flavor.

Enjoyed the barbacoa tacos from this cool little truck… the meat was seasoned perfectly and the avocado was super fresh. Didn’t get to sample many of the sauces but the three I had were great which was the spicy tomatillo, chipotle and the mango hananero. The guys in the kitchen seem like they are having a great time serving the customers. I’ll definitely be in the line on the next day they make an office call.
