So first off I have been a fan of D’Angelo forever. Love the Steak and Cheese. But I have lost my patients… not once… not twice… but three times on three consecutive weekends they got the order wrong. Simple orders — ham & cheese with mayo, Steak & Cheese with bbq, steak & cheese with mayo, lettuce and tomato and a greek salad. Once no bbq sauce, once bbq sauce wrong sandwich, and finally greek salad with no feta or olives. Done… Duct tape on seats is a nice touch…

Wicked good #9 steak and cheese subs. We like it on pita, but they have sub rolls, too. Delicious lobster rolls, too.

D’Angelo has long been a standby fast food place for me. It’s been around forever and it has narrowed its focus on grinders. The best ones are the Number 9. Sure, it’s not a Philly Cheesesteak, but it hits the spot. This particular one is efficient and clean. The service was friendly and quick. They even offered a taste of a new burger product they were rolling out. So, no complaints here. It knows what it wants and continues to do it solidly. Nothing fancy, but not bad either.

I’ve been a few times and I’ve never been disappointed. From the lobster roll to the steak and cheese, their sandwiches taste pretty good. Don’t go in expecting your life to change. Just know you’re gonna get a good sandwich for a few bucks every visit.

They were here before Moe’s. They were here before Chipotle. They were here before the half dozen bagel and full dozen local pizza joints. Hell, they were even here before McDonald’s! When I moved here 25 years ago, the only«fast food» options we had were stopping at the old Papa Gino’s in West Harford on my way home, at a Subway, or at this D’Angelo’s here on Route 44. The Avon D’Angelos is still standing today, still dishing up fast and pretty good tasting hot and cold sandwiches and salads. We picked up a small Tuna Salad sandwich($ 5.59) and a Chicken Cobb Salad($ 6.59). The counter person was efficient and pleasant, but gave me the stink eye when I tried to unobtrusively take some photos of the store’s interior. By the way, did this ever happen to anyone else? A few weeks ago I took some pictures at the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, and I thought the young lady in the produce store was going to scream at me and call the cops. Our D’Angelo’s food was very good– nice and fresh and tasted great. WTG, D’Angelos…

This is one of the last stores to carry the baked stuffed lobster sandwich that is incredible. Melissa loves the classic grilled veggie on a pita. U won’t find the baked stuffed listed. U have to ask for it.

I work right next door and frequent this d’angelos a lot. Friendly staff and the food is pretty good. The prices are a little too high, but I still find myself getting a sandwich every now and then. The mangers are always very quick to take care of any issues and hook you up.

* Steady Quality(And No TV!) * Been coming here for years. Eaten here probably 20 times. Nothing spectacluar, but clean, which is a big plus. A usually-polite staff here. The bread is good, the ingredients, not bad. They offer soups, which are usually pretty good. The drink selection is good, as well. Tables are comfortable. Something really nice about this place: the bathrooms are large, and always very clean(that may sound like it should be a given, but hey,. No TV and no booze license means no loud, annoying sound levels in here. Windows looking out onto Rte 44. On one occasion, my friend inadvertently overpaid. The next time we went in, the manager brought it up — not us(we didn’t even remember or know). He said they owed us $ 7. and took it off that day’s bill. That’s what I call above-&-beyond the call of duty. If I have one complaint it that sandwiches + chips + small drinks for two = over $ 25. Not shocklngly expensive for the Avon/WH area, but I wouldn’t rate it an especially high value for what you get. If the cheese was first-rate, and all the vegetables were super-fresh or organically-grown, then it’d be well worth it. So it’s tricky to rate: If compared with a truly great place that uses the finest ingredients, prepared by a great cook/chef, at some pretty locale, that this is place is, well, it’s more or less in the«fast-food» category. But if compared with other fast-food places(Subway, McDonald’s, Moe’s, Burger King, Chilli’s), it’s 100 times better than any of those places. * Phil

I’m a big fan of D’Angelos. We don’t have them on the west coast so every time I am in CT I have a go. I went with the steak and cheese pocket with grilled onions and mayo. Take out. When I got home it was still hot… and delicious. It cost me $ 7 for a medium pocket which is not too bad. Friendly service and good food. Yay for D’Angelo’s.
