This is by far the best place to get burritos. I love how they make there food similar to the food in SoCal. So if you are looking for the some awesome Mexican food in Bakersfield i would definitely recommend this place. And its not far from the freeway also if your in need of a pit stop.

Got a sausage burrito and the burrito actually had sausage in it. My co workers all buy breakfast burrito from this place so I thought it would be a good reason to try them out. What a disappointment. The burrito is filled w potatoes n a small portion of egg. Such a rip off.

Wtf happen to Alfonso’s drive thru. Sorry prob never going back. Food terrible. Service terrible. Took 32 mins to get food and I was the only car and only 2 people were inside. This was the 2nd time in a row this has happened. Sorry. Going to the other taco place on white lane next time.

I came here a lot in high school with my friends so Alfonso’s holds a special place in my heart. We always either got the super burritos or the super fries and would sit in there for hours. Love the little bar and love their salsas. The food isn’t out of this world but definitely does the job when you want Mexican on the go!

Huge burritos for a small price. My criticism is that this place is very slow to prepare the order.

I’ve been here many times now and tried many different things. The super fries are definitely the best thing on the menu. The breakfast burritos are pretty good too. Fast and friendly service.

This place is not bad. I eat here often for lunch and dinner. Its more of American modernized Mexican food. It’s not spicy the quality of taste is fair. Meat I prefer the Chile Verde. Also the shredded beef crunchy tacos are really good! They have nachos with nacho cheese and your choice of meat which I also recommend. Service is a little slow but hey they have to cook the food it’s not taco Bell. I recommend calling in 10 – 15 mins before you go to eat so your food is ready when you get there.

Their green chile breakfast burrito was great, the green chile was just spicy enough for me and the fries in the burrito are a good touch.

If I could sum up this review in one word or expression it would be «meh». I was just unimpressed. I was craving a breakfast burrito this morning and did not feel like cooking one myself. So since Alfonso’s Taco Shop is around the corner from my home I thought I’d give them a try. First thing’s first, if there is more than two cars in the drive thru expect a pretty long wait. I think there were 3 cars ahead of me and I waited close to 35 minutes. Two cars that pulled in behind me reversed and left. The long wait sucks but I actually didn’t mind it too much because I figured it must mean they make everything fresh. Plus I always see cars in this drive thru so I figured the food must be great. So i ordered a Chili Verde breakfast burrito. I will say when I got home and opened my bag I was glad it was a nice sized burrito. I was excited to eat it. That was until I did. The burrito was pretty bland. It had eggs, potatoes, Pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. I know what you are thinking, didn’t she say she ordered a chili Verde breakfast burrito? I did! However, I was more than half way through the burrito and I did not taste any chili verde. No pork. No Spicy Tangy Chili Verde sauce. It was not until I got to the last ¼th of the burrito(when I was already full) that I started to taste and see Chili Verde. Even then it wasn’t that great. I’ve had better chili verde. I know it was a breakfast burrito so I shouldn’t expect it to be overflowing with Chili Verde goodness, but i should be able to taste it before I’m half way through the burrito. There is a taco truck that comes by my work and they have awesome Chili Verde breakfast burritos, where you taste the chili Verde in every bite; so i guess I was expecting something similar from Alfonso’s. The burrito itself tasted under seasoned. I did try their green and red salsas to try and add flavor and it didn’t help. I ended up grabbing salsa I had in the fridge. I actually ended up throwing the last part of the burrito away So to sum up my experience. Really long drive thru wait for a $ 7(with tax) burrito that was quite unimpressive. I don’t know if i will go back.

I was the only one in the drive through, but still took forever to get through. I heard they had the best breakfast burritos, and unfortunately they don’t. I found that the potatoes were not cooked fully, and kinda tasted old. I also found the breakfast sausage hard to find. I’m not sure what else was even in the burrito, it really didn’t taste good at all. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

This place is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. I order an al pastor torta and I could not swallow one bite. The whole thing tasted nasty, like if the meat was sitting for a long time it could have been spoiled. Place is dirty and service is slow. Will never be back to this place.

Love the crunch tacos with shredded beef. Recently loving the super nachos. Love the food and the people are very nice. They get busy though, so even in the drive thru, expect to wait. Remember this isn’t fast food so it takes a little longer.

This place to me is probably a 3.5 but we rate in whole numbers so I have to lower it. I have been coming here for almost two years after hearing about it from co-workers. Close to work but when it is lunch time it is not a joke. That line does not move well but think about it, the food is cooking! Typically I would go here for a breakfast burrito but have to started to explore their menu a little deeper. Their breakfast burritos are a great size and you can choose the meat you want or choose the Ultimate which is bacon, sausage and ham I believe. Price for the burritos are good but a bit more for the ultimate. The Super Fries here are really good especially when you pick carnitas as the meat. Unlike some places they do not use nacho cheese but shredded cheddar instead. Throw in refried beans, guacamole, sour cream and some Pico de Gallo. And they offer half order for those whose stomach are not as adventurous. I’ve also have tried their Alfonso’s Tacos which are taquitos in a red sauce topped with shredded cheese and lettuce. It comes in either a 3 piece or 5 and either chicken or beef. And damn they can be good but that red sauce can get a tad bit spicy. I don’t about most but I have days where spicy food affects me more than other days, who knows. The service here is always great but what keeps them from receiving a higher rating is wait time for food especially in the drive-thru. Some days it takes longer than others so I’d recommend calling in your order if possible. By the way, they do have crushed ice if you’re like me and love it!

This is my go to place when I want Carne Asada fries(Super Fries). It is french fries topped with beans, your choice of meat, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. They have two different portion sizes: Half ~$ 5⁄6& Full $ 7⁄8. I normally ask for no beans, but that’s a personal preference. Their Super Nachos are just as good and have the two portion sizes as well. It is similar to the fries but in nacho form. Their tacos are spot on as well but the crunchy taco isn’t my favorite. I’m not a big fan of their horchata either. Every time I’ve ordered the drink it had a weird taste or was watered down. I normally only go through the drive-thru and rarely/if ever go inside. It is a hit or miss occasionally for the drive-thru. Sometimes they are fast and sometimes not so much. For the most part, you can order anything off the menu and it will still be delicious.

Fyi, I’m not a pro. I’m a regular guy who love to eat. I started Unilocaling so I could help others find delicious places to eat. I have heard many great things about this place for years now. It’s always been on my radar since it’s across the street from the gym I go to. Today I decided to check this place out after hitting the gym. After contemplating between Taco Bell and this place, I made a split second decision and swerved into Alfonso’s drive thru. As I approached the menu I noticed that there was quite the selection and I got quite excited. I came up to the speaker box and waited for about 60 seconds before being greeted. I ordered the carne asada burrito with guacamole(Alfonso’s burrito w/carne asada). $ 6+!! I was so hungry, I pulled the burrito out of the bag as soon as I drove away from the drive thru. First impression, «Hmmm it’s quite small. I hope it’s full of flavor.» The first bite I took was nothing but guacamole and tortilla. I noticed right away that the filling to tortilla ratio on this burrito was way off. There was so much excess tortilla. I’m not sure if they jibbed me for meat or if this is how they always make their burritos. Either way they stole meat from the wrong dude. :( I wasn’t even too disappointed for not having as much meat because it was disgusting either way. The meat tasted like the cheap fatty cut. This was NOT carne asada meat. The guac had too much lemon in it and it completely overpowered the burrito. I don’t even remember if there were beans inside. I tried enhancing the flavor of this burrito with the red salsa. Nope, the watered down tomato juice didn’t help. Okay, let’s try the green salsa. Flavorless. This was probably the worst burrito I’ve ever had. I think the best part of this burrito was the tortilla. Taco Bell would’ve been a much better choice. I texted my friend right after telling them how disappointed I was. They said they’ve only tried the breakfast burritos. So, I guess I’ll have to try more of the menu for a better review. Unfortunately, I do not plan to do that. If you have/had a better experience here, feel free to share what you ordered. If I ever try this place again, I’d like to know what to try.

Yeah I expected better from this place based on all the good reviews about the super fries. We ordered half order of super fries, half order chicken nachos, and 4 carne asada tacos. It came up to about $ 18. The fries were limp and soggy and still had a few pieces that were semi-frozen. They should’ve fried it longer. Also, the salsa wasn’t very good. It was bland and not spicy at all. My nachos were a joke. A saw maybe 4 pieces of chicken and the rest was just beans and cheese. The best part of the nachos were the chips. One star for the chips and another star for friendly service. This is not the taco Tuesday joint for me.
